Staff: We (party of six) came in on a Wednesday about an hour before closing time and received a warm welcome from staff. Everyone was friendly and conversational. The cocktails (Blackberry Bramble and and Whiskey Sour) were excellent and the bartender even came to check in when we had a question about the recipe for making them. Food: Appetizer (fried okra) was fresh and enough for all of us. Four of us ordered some type of fried chicken (1/2 fried chicken plate & fried chicken tenders): excellent quality with crisp breading, perfectly cooked sides. The loaded salad and winter salad rounded out our meal. Our companions raved about them. Dessert: we all got something and, again, were very happy with the down home selection and quality of the selections (gelato, flan, chocolate pecan pie). I can't rant and rave enough about how amazing Emil's is. Every time I'm in Tullahoma I MUST stop in. Most recently I was there to celebrate my mother's birthday so it was a relatively large party. Have driven by here several times when in Tullahoma. Decided to stop & try it for dinner. It's in an old house & they have tables & chairs on the porch. Parking is behind the restaurant. When we walked in, they asked if we had a reservation; surprised, as it was a Thursday night. They seated us in a small room to the right of the entryway. Our waitperson greeted as quickly, gave us menus & brought us waters. Lots of choices on the menu which sound very good. We started off by ordering drinks & the crab dip with crackers. The "specials" menu was separate & my husband & I both decided to order from it, as we saw prime rib was available & we haven't had any in awhile. We both ordered it with mashed potatoes (choices were fries, green beans & mashed potatoes). Prime rib also came with mushrooms. Our appetizer arrived...steaming hot & oh, so delicious!! We made short work of that! It had "fake" crab in it & I'm not sure what else but would definitely order again. Our prime rib was cooked as requested & was good, but I have had better. I was a bit disappointed. A little tough & not a whole lot of flavor. Mashed potatoes were good & the mushrooms were very good! Afterwards, I remembered I should've asked for horseradish & maybe I would've enjoyed it more. Huge portion (which my husband finished). Outstanding food. Expensive, but worth it. Place to go to celebrate your anniversary or some such. Service is just as outstanding. Ambiance is casual, but high-end place. Linen tablecloths and napkins. Cuisine is basically French, with some Cajun influences. I had a marvelous lamb shank with some root vegetables and potatoes. A good glass of wine and an excellent bourbon. My wife had a filet mignon, said it was one of the best she'd ever had. She also had fried okra. It was, of course, fresh okra, not frozen as is more typical in restaurants. I don't usually care for fried okra, but I really liked it here. I'd order it for myself. read more

Last night in Tullahoma and looking for a great dinner before leaving. Yelp brought us to Emil's Bistro, not often that you find a 5 star rating so we had to give it a try. We didn't have reservations but we took our chances and walked in, fortunately they were able to give us table right away. Food: Nice range of craft cocktails greeted us, I wanted something whiskey based and representative of the area, our server suggested I try the Tennessee Orange which combined Jack and a local pale ale, pretty tasty and refreshing. For our meal I couldn't pass up the small 12 oz cut of Prime Rib which was extremely flavorful and tender. Served with tender green beans and mushrooms it was great meal! Service: Solid service, seated quickly, very friendly, and checked on us often. Food came out quickly and all dishes where plated very nicely. Atmosphere: The atmosphere was like walking into someone's house which was very comfortable and relaxing. Seating setup in different rooms, there was also a bar located in the next room that I'd love to check out if every back in the area. Value: Great value, with two cocktails, a cup of soup, Caesar salad, and my Prime Rib all for under $60! Similar meals we've had in other cities would easily be over $100! Overall: Emil's definitely deserves their high rating, great food, good service, nice atmosphere and tremendous value makes this a must try if you are in the area. Do not recommend for large parties. We initially had a great experience at the bar in a previous visit a few weeks ago, just the two of us. But I recently tried to host a party of 10 for my wife's bday, and it was a bit of a disaster: - Highly inexperienced, and underaged wait staff knew nearly nothing about the menus, etc. She'd disappear for 20 minute chunks of time. I don't think water glasses were refilled once during the entire visit and cocktails ran dry for long periods of time. - Menus between drinks, specials, and standard menu was a very awkward pile of papers on the table. - The table set up was a round six topper with a much skinnier rectangle table pushed together in a very tight space, which made for a very awkward set up when it came to conversation ( you have people literally behind you). Made the entire thing uncomfortable. - Drink orders took a very long time. - Flatbread was very undercooked. - Prime rib tasted "off". - the Free Birthday Desert? Keep it. A gem in Tullahoma!!! We come here once a year while attending Bonnaroo. We enjoy Thursday night dinner and Friday brunch since the food is exceptional. Last night we feasted on appetizers & dinner entrees. To star out, my husband ordered scotch on the rock which was a generous pour. Appetizers- fried shrimp and fried quail which were cooked to perfection, not greasy with a delicious crisp. The shrimp was served with a delicious spicy tarter sauce and the quail lay on top of a tomato ratatouille that was very tasty. Entrees were fabulous- prime rib cooked to perfection and sesame crusted yellow fin tuna served over rice and stir fried vegetables. Both entrees were excellent and more flavorful than fine dinning establishments we have eaten at in large cities. We didn't have room for dessert but are heading back tomorrow for brunch! read more

No such thing as "Fine Dining" in Tullahoma TN. The owner is an arrogant French person who has had the restaurant for many years and has made a lot of money. I have been a customer for many years but abruptly quit going.after the owner did the final insult to my wife and I. I routinely spent over 100 dollars plus tip and one night after several drinks and dinner I forgot to leave a tip on the space age tablet that you pay your bill. The next time we came, the owner approached me with a copy of the and had written on the check "NO TIP". He discussed that this was how he paid his employees. This could have been handled many other ways rather than to insult a paying customer. Of course George the owner caters to special people in Tullahoma and everyone knows who they are. I really don't care because my wife's cooking and my wine are the best in town. I feel sorry for the visitors who don't know any better. read more

Very nice cafeteria-style lunch on a pleasant Friday afternoon, with multiple cold dishes on one side of the hall and hot dishes and soup on the other side. Multiple tasty desserts, also. Moved here recently and our first visit to Emil's. Started off very good, nice server good atmosphere and decent menu. Had come based on the website showing prime rib on Thurs and Fri nights, unfortunately no prime rib? So ordered the filet to get my beef fix and hubby ordered monk fish. Martini's were quite good, enjoyed the wedge salad and mussels, but both of us were disappointed in our main course. The filet was not great, potatoes were tasty and green beans were mushy (very overcooked), my husband's fish was heavy and he was less than impressed. Wanted to really like this place but after we got the bill, and it was quite high, we have to say we were disappointed. If I'm paying $42 for a filet it better cut like butter and melt in my mouth, this was not the case. Anyway, we will try them again and next time get the Chicken! read more

Last night, my boss decided to take us all out (11 of us total I think) after we closed our own restaurant. He called Emils around 4 PM and asked for reservations for our party at 8. They closed at 9 but were very welcoming! Our waitress, Lexi, was great and handled our crazy, loud party with a smile on her face! Now to the food, I have a bunch of pictures. I'm going to be completely honest, I ordered jack and cokes and got a little hammered lol so I cant remember what everyone ordered. I was a basic white girl and ordered chicken tenders and fries. But let me tell you, that homemade honey mustard was bombbbb. The chicken was fried perfectly. We also order fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. Listen to the other reviews and order them! Wow! I am so impressed with the food here. I have this thing I do where I judge a place based on either their Fish and Chips or BLT. Emil's has both, so I tried the Fish and Chips. I must say, this is the best F&C I have ever had hands down! The breading was perfect and crispy. I could tell it was fresh and the oil was new as there were no off flavors. The fish was perfect as well. Moist, flaky and so tasty. We ended up coming back a few days later so I tried the BLT. Also, perfect! Thick bacon cooked to perfection. I'll add in that the Green fried tomatoes are also very good and their non-sweet Iced Tea is also very good. We sat outside on the nice porch each time to a nice breeze. I will make sure to return the next time I am in this area. read more

We had the fried green tomatoes, tomato soup, and the prime rib. The soup and fried green tomatoes were delicious but the prime rib wasn't anything special. The food, service, and atmosphere were all excellent. This is probably the nicest dining experience that you can get in Tullahoma. We started out with the Fried Green Tomatoes with Boursin cheese and greens. The breading was perfect thickness and cheese topping delicious. I had the sesame crusted Ahi, and my wife had the pan seared grouper. Both were absolutely delicious. The plating is spot on. The menu does change, so look ahead of time if possible.
