This is such a unique and niche thing for Murfreesboro, it's hard to nail down an all-inclusive review. For starters, the location is down an alley way, hidden off the main area of the Square in the Boro. To get to the speakeasy, you have to find the door, use the phone, and answer a riddle to speak the 'password' to get in. Neat concept and adds to the fun of the overall experience. The cons: - A cover charge - and a healthy one, at that. - Every cocktail, small plate/appetizer, dish, dessert, etc. is on the very high end of price points, and that's even for a Nashville spot - not even considering this as a niche location in the burbs. - For the prices, exceptionally small portions/servings of the food options. We left paying over $150 for our evening and both my wife and I were still hungry... The pros: - Service was fantastic. Extremely friendly from the owner to the bartenders to the servers. No complaints there at all. - My wife took me for my 40th birthday, and they helped significantly make it a special celebration while we were there. A special dessert with "4-0" candles, a rousing musician-led, crowd-involved rendition of "happy birthday" was sung in my honor, and overall just a very enjoyable experience. - Atmosphere was fun and inviting without being too much/stuffy. - The interior of the speakeasy is opulent, small, and cozy, featuring enough room for probably no more than 20-25 people total. - The drinks were very, very good. Overpriced, sure - but at least they were well made and tasty. - The food was absolutely fantastic. Great flavors and seemingly fresh, quality ingredients - well prepared. Overall, a very neat, fun, well thought out experience and something to say we've done - BUT unfortunately with the cover charge, pricing of the individual drinks, food items, etc., it prices us out of frequent enjoyment. We would go with a small group for kicks, but will likely not return otherwise, which is a shame. read more

I randomly found this place one night and it was definitely the best place i would say to go for drinks in Murfreesboro. You feel like you're going back in time once you step in and marinate into the atmosphere. The drinks are perfectly and everything seems freshly made . I've never experienced anything like it . Before you can get in you do have to solve a riddle if not you can't get in . They had me change my windbreaker jacket into a more casual dress jacket and i gotta say i felt like a completely new man with it on . I would definitely highly recommend and come back again . The bartender was very friendly and attentive which was amazing for a busy night. read more

Celebrated my birthday with adult children and this late night vibe was just what I needed! The drinks were amazing and the music was incredible. Country music by Aaron Vance then rnb hits with a DJ after. Music just loud enough that we coukd still talk. We range in age from 23-62 and we all had a great time! Velvet room has some potential the jazzy vibes. The door requires you to figure a riddle to get in the door. And the cover charge to get in since they had a jazz band playing that night. I feel like it would be more foot traffic if they didn't do cover charges at the door. Plus you're spending a bit of money on drinks and food already. read more

What a fantastic gem hidden in historic downtown Murfreesboro. The curated drink offerings were advertised as being premium, and they absolutely were. They meticulously obsess over every ingredient that goes into both the drinks as well as the food. They start with top-shelf spirits, and then add in the magic from their collection of house-made ingredients that elevate the entire experience. We will definitely be back. read more

Food was great. Drinks were elevated beyond anything else in town. The staff is extremely professional, friendly and helpful. The location is exactly what you want from a speak easy. It's hidden away, classy in its decorations , and even offered a live jazz band when we were there. I don't love the entrance fee. I think we would go back more if we didn't have to fork over $30 immediately. With that said, this is a special place that I hope survives and has great success. read more

We've been wanting to try this place for awhile. The atmosphere was great, very cool inside. Drinks and food were really good. We sat at the bar while we waited for a table, it was about 20 min before we had our order taken. I get it, drinks are specialized and take some time. Ok, no problem. Got our drinks and they were great. Bartender was super nice. Almost finished with our drinks and our table is ready. Once we sat down no one greeted us and we sat there for at least 30 min before we finally flagged down the hostess and then she took our order. She was great. Food and drinks came quickly but we were never once were approached again. We finished our food and drinks and had to walk to the bar to get our tab. We wanted to stay and have a few more drinks because the sweet young guy playing music was great. Sadly we probably won't visit again because of the service. They need to have more servers. Not to compare, but 1 of 19 has drinks and food just as good, if not better, and their service is always top notch. read more

First of all, the staff is so sweet and considerate. They appreciate proper attire and keep the attitude that this place is discreet but welcome to all. The decor is gorgeous in all its gothic and victorian style while everyone is dressed to impress. The food and beverages are another thing to rave about which I cannot say for all speakeasies. The entertainment was astonishingly impressive and professional; it was like a whole other city. The environment was incredible! So authentic and swanky! However, the drink prices are crazy ridiculous. $18 for a drink that was about 4 oz. With taxes and tip it was $25. I won't be back.
