We have been going to smilers schertz for about a year and we absolutely love it. We started in Mr. Josh's class and recently moved to ms Carlie's class. Our child loves coming to swim even though he is a little shy. The teachers take their time making him feel special and confident. We have seen large developments in his swimming! This place started out fantastic with Ms Ashley and the kids moving up when they were at the skill level. At some point, the upper management company changed and kids had to age out of their level. My daughter was ready to level out 2 months after her birthday, but was forced to stay in it until she had another birthday. This really turned into a waste of time and money. Ms Ashley was really the only teacher challenging the kids to get better. Makeup teachers were not letting the kids swim independently, with hands on them at all times, even if they were perfectly capable of doing it on their own (I.e. float on their back, swim). It went downhill fast, and there were no available spots for makeup classes. You'd have to hope someone would call out sick so you could take their spot. Forget a private lesson because even though they teach the level your child is in, they don't ask what (within that level) your child needs to work on. So my child spent 20mins "working" on floating while she was never allowed to do it independently (she can), but there were other skills she needed to work on. It started as an excellent place and really taught my daughter to swim, but toward the end it became a joke that took your money with nothing to show for it. read more

Just wanted to update. My son has now been here the past two years. We've done group lessons for level 1 and 2. Then we switched to private because it's just a better fit for my son. He has lessons with Sonny. He's awesome with the kids and knows how to push my son!!! My son has made so much progress just within the last year. Everyone there is really nice. I never hardly ever write a bad review but this is more informative to anyone considering this establishment. I signed my kids up with the expectation that they would get introduced to being in the water and safe while doing so! My kids are 11.5 and 4.5 years old ,for age references. The first day, we checked in at the front desk and were verified for both kids. Next, we were briefed on how the facility worked. When I say brief I mean, 5 minutes. I was told if I had questions to ask. I ended up asking about the flippers for my daughter because when I thought about everything was explained based on only my son. My daughter is tall for her age but it is quite clear that she's a child. The reason I'm mentioning this is because once they both got into the pool with the instructor, I was asked how old was she. She heard me explaining and became embarrassed. As for my son, he's your typical 4.5 year old, full of energy and he also doesn't have pool experience. Now the instructor was nice and doing her best with 4 kids to teach, but I feel when you have newbies and you have to physically walk through each part one by one, what do you do when the other kids are on the sideline? In theory the kids should wait their turn but, what if one decided just to jump in before or anything unexpected like that and your back is turned? What can happen in a short amount of time to a non swimmer. The whole ordeal made me very nervous and uneasy! I decided to address my concerns, after speaking with my partner with management. Please know that you won't get an answer over the phone. It's so very frustrating! I did leave a voicemail and received a call 24 hours later, so I went to speak to someone in person prior to the next lesson. Management gave me a good solution I thought to my issues. I was able to separate my kids and have my youngest that I was more concerned with in the water take a private lesson. Additional funds was not mentioned to me. We get there for the lesson for my oldest and management approaches me again during the lesson to tell me that if I want to continue the private lesson it would be an additional $89 per day. Well, no I don't want to do that. The other option was to bring my youngest back to the original scheduled lesson and a water watcher would be standing there to ensure nothing went on with the kids on the sideline during the 30 minute session. Didn't happen! Today, my kids asked me to not make them go back and to try somewhere else. I feel so badly about this for my kids. I was hoping for a very positive outcome for us with swimming lessons. I didn't expect them to come out being great swimmers but at least enjoying the water more. I don't recommend this place to teach your kids how to swim, maybe help with techniques based off what I witnessed with other participants. I mean unless your kids have some swimming experience or you just want something for them to do. read more

I would leave a five star review because the teacher for my grandson for the first week was awesome. The second week of class was canceled because the air conditioning was out. This was the week of June 19, 2023. Because my grandson lives in Houston, it is not possible to reschedule another class. I have called repeatedly asking for a refund. I stopped in at the Schertz location as well. Have not received any phone calls to date. The few times I talked with someone on the phone, they couldn't handle the problem. The mysterious person that has this job has made no effort by phone or email to resolve this issue. Very frustrating and unprofessional. read more

We are now in our second semester at Emlers Swim School in Schertz and my kids absolutely love it!! I placed my kids in Elmers for the water safety benefit however the kids have quickly found a new love. They look forward to swim classes every week! Cara and Kendra are wonderful coaches. They give honest and relevant feedback as to how the kids are doing at the end of every lesson. They speak about the skills that have been learned and how your child can improve throughout the week. read more

I am very disappointment with Emler swim school when the COVID 19 hit classes stop and that was fine we had miss 12 classes Which amounted to $216.72 When they open back up in May I requested a refund because I did not feel comfort in coming back at all. All I wanted them to credit back to my account but they told me it was to late to do which this was not true then they told the amount has been approve for refund and we will sent you a check but it been a month an no check. I made serval calls and emails and no check so think twice before you enroll for any classes I will never go back there Thank you read more

Our kids have been attending Emler for over a year and as a former swim instructor, we love the focus on water safety. We really enjoyed swimming with M'Kenzie these last 8 weeks she has been a true blessing. Anytime my daughter had a drop of water hit her face, she would scream and scream, until someone got her a towel. She had absolutely no swimming skills and definitely no head underwater skills. M'Kenzie was a blessing, the passion, understanding and patience she has for children shined through the lessons she taught. All children/adults should know how to swim, now my child knows how to swim and stay out of harms way when in or near the water. Paid up front for over $700 for my kids's swimming fees and after a few sessions today the lady walked up and said : you owed $75 for registration fees...It's absolutely OK to have a "registration fees" whatever, but that needed to explained at our registration day or better yet, in the contract. Not charging any time they'd like to do so at whatever reason they can think of just to extra-charge you ! Do that better next time to other client my dear ladies ! read more

I cannot say enough good things about Lauryn at the Schertz location. My son is 3 and began taking lessons at Emler in June. His first session was with a different instructor, and he cried the entire way home. He asked me never to take him back. When we came for his second lesson, I explained to Ms. Lauryn that he was nervous and did not have a good experience at the previous lesson. She immediately started working to build a relationship with my son and assured him that she would be by his side anytime he was in the water. When we got in the car he asked when we would get to go back and said Ms. Lauryn was his best friend. Lauryn is very attentive and respectfully redirects students when needed to ensure their safety around the pool, but more than that, it is evident that she cares deeply about her students and wants them to feel confident in their abilities. We really like the school. There are days when the pool and building could be picked up and organized better every day. The staff is friendly, some are better trained than others on diffrent programs. Our teacher Samantha is awesome! We have one child that is afraid of the water. Elmer has been so great to us in the two years we have been with their staff. My daughter is excelling as a swimmer, but most importantly, she is having fun. The coaching staff at Elmer develop unique bonds with the kids, and are always genuine, playful, and caring. Management and coaches remember our names, which is a nice feeling every week when we go in for class. My 7yo has been going to Emler Swim School for 8 months and he loves it! We originally signed up for some extra summer practice, but had such a good experience we are still going. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming. We especially love Claudia because she is always ready to help us with whatever we may need! So far, we've had Cody and Laney as instructors and could not be happier. They are so patient and make learning all the swim strokes fun! As parents, we love the affordability, availability of classes and close location. So far, my child has learned freestyle, backstroke and butterfly. My five year old daughter has been with Coach Melissa for 3 years now and has learned all of the safety skills like getting out of the pool by herself, jumping in and swimming to the wall, floating and much more! Now she is working on her back stroke, freestyle skills, can kick her legs, it's incredible!!!! I am comfortable taking her to a pool without floaties and letting her practice all the great things she knows how to do in the water. Coach Melissa is incredible!!!! So sweet, kind, and so so great with kids. This is an amazingly positive, fun, and safe atmosphere for your kids. I could not be more happy!!!!! Neither could my little one. We love Emler Swim school. A few months ago, my youngest fell in the pool. We had done private lessons for survival swim with her as an infant, so we thought she was "safe" from drowning. We found her at the bottom of the pool. It was the scariest moment of my life. Thank God, she was fine, but I knew that unless she truly learned to swim, it could easily happen again. We live in a town with 2 rivers and a water park. We NEED to know how to swim. I found Emler, took a tour and immediately signed up all 3 of my kids. In a 3 month period, all three have learned so much. They have learned what to do if they fall in. They know how to float, and how to get out. My older two can dive and swim. They LOVE swim lessons and the coaches who make it easy and fun. They teach infants to adults, and I've seen growth in everyone there. I highly recommend lessons. I've learned my lesson; No one is safe from drowning. But Emler can give your kids (and you!) the tools and knowledge on how to survive if an accident does happen, and how to have fun swimming! read more
