Do I hear 6 stars?! Yes. Dr. Skordalakis is an excellent dentist - smart! knows what he's doing! - and he is exceptionally calm and gentle with children (actually, with everyone). He will refer you to another dentist/specialist if he feels the situation may (may) be outside of his "I've got this" zone. He clearly cares a lot about consistency, because every member of his team is courteous, competent and engaging. If you are seriously considering a new dentist for your children, or your child's first dentist, then you really should try Dr. S. You will not be disappointed. He's kind of like the "dog whisperer" of pediatric dentistry. read more

Dr.S is awesome. He knows how to work with kids and how to work quickly. He's thorough and will answer all questions. Rooms are fun with a different theme in each. Kids always get a coin for a job well done - even the sibling tag alongs. I usually take all kids at once and they try to make it time efficient - each kid gets their own hygienist so they get cleaned at the same time. Then dr. S will meet all 3 kids to give me a run down. Time saver! What I really love about him is that I can be honest with my "granola" ways and he's not one to roll his eyes at me. He doesn't encourage X-rays because of radiation exposure, he's ok that i choose fluoride free for the kids because he's seen flourosis and is very conservative regarding usage. I've also asked about the diy toothpastes and he said "ok, give it a try and let's see how your kids teeth look". He's willing to try new things and if he doesn't know something he'll be honest with you (I asked him about myobrace and he didn't know what it was). There aren't any holistic dentists in the area that will take insurance so we stick with regular dentists but among them I'd say dr s is the best. He lets me, as mom, make the final choice and encouraged me when he sees that I'm trying my best. (I just wish I can find myself a dentist like him!) If I had a "con" it'd be that I don't like that they diffuse essential oils in their foyer area. I'm not against it, just a very conservative user bc children with allergies could possibly react to it (nowadays you never know who's allergic to what). But thankfully none of my kids have reacted and it's less than a 5-10 minutes wait so it's not worth the fight for me. read more

Pediatric Dentistry of the Falls is without a doubt, the best of the best!! Dr. Skordalakis is the best pediatric dentist in the area!! He is friendly and attentive. Also, one of his hygienists, Miguel, is excellent!! The building is nice and welcoming with characters and artwork everywhere. He makes dental appointments a fun experience. After the appointment is done, he gives the children a token to use on a vending machine filled with small prizes and goodies. Dr. Skordalakis and his practice deserve more than five stars!! Dr. S is the best kids dentist in the area! Seriously. If I could give him more than a 5, I would. He is THE best. Literally, THE BEST. I have a child that at some point in his life was convinced that going to the dentist and getting your teeth cleaned was some how the worst thing on the face of the Earth. I would bring him to the dentist (as every good mother would) every 6 months and just pray that he would open his mouth and let them get through part of the check-up, knowing a full cleaning was not gonna happen. And, if he made it through the "check-up" without vomiting, it was somehow a success. Many times, I left defeated and often felt personally responsible for my child's overreation to the situation. I actually left the dentist I was bringing the kids to out of embarrassment, because I left like they were judging my child, and at one point actually suggested putting him under at the rate of $2,000 for a cleaning and x-rays. Not at Dr. S's place. First, I felt completely at ease when the hygentist who apparently is called in when one of these types of patients come in. She calmly explained all of the tools to my son and even after he still had fear, she explained that she feared the dentist in her youth too. Then she let him decide what step he wanted to start with, let him be in control of the situation. Exactly what he needed. It took a little bit of coaxing, but by the time we left, my son had a full cleaning, scraping, flossing, x-rays, etc. She let him off without Flouride this time (since he had no cavities and is an awesome brusher). But made a deal that next time he do the Flouride since he wouldn't have to do x-rays. He agreed to the deal, and told me after that he can't wait to go back to try the Flouride paint. Yes, my child (who is almost 9 BTW) who never made it through an appointment, DID IT!! He conquered his fear of the dentist and had a good experience. YES! Thank you, thank you, thank you Dr. S and your staff. Dr. S, you mentioned to me as I walked out the door that people around here have a lot of choices and you were thankful that we chose you... Let me just say, that you have no idea how happy I am the we found you. I cannot express my thanks to you and your staff for how great you are with children. Top notch. Dr. Skordalakis is one of the most ethical, kind, honest and caring doctors you can find. I'm writing this with sadness as my kids are in college out of state and have outgrown the practice. We started seeing Dr. S after a bad experience with a pediatric dentist "factory" in Ashburn. The people who work here have been wonderful, kind, and patient at every single visit. One of my kids had sensory issues and they made him so comfortable here. We all love this doctor and I relied upon Dr. S's advice on so many different subjects. He helped steer us to better orthodontists after having a bad experience with a popular ortho. He never pushes anything unecessary and is frankly the best doctor we've ever dealt with. No one gives time to patients like Dr. S. You are a wonderful person and we are going to miss you. read more

I switched over to Dr. S, and boy am I glad I did. I moved my kids from a very well regarded pediatric dentist in McLean. They were great, but too far away from Sterling. Dr. S was recommended by almost every parent in Countryside. He has a great demeanor, is very good with the kids, and explains everything very well. His staff is top notch. He deals with our insurance, so that was icing on the cake! What more can you ask for? read more

This was my daughters' first visit to the dentist. One of them has some anxiety when it comes to doctors, but all her nerves and fears went away pretty quickly. The office was clean, neat and so beautiful! There's a toy room for kids and waiting area for parents. The exam rooms are decorated with cartoon characters and there's tvs on the ceiling for the kids to watch while being looked at. Everyone in the office was so friendly, polite and professional. From the receptionist, to the dental assistant who cleaned the girls' teeth, and to Dr. Skordalakis. He's a great doctor, very nice to kids and not pushy at all when it comes to treatment. My older daughter has 2 cavities and he suggested we fix them, but left it up to me. I will take her back to have them fixed soon and will update my review then. They both good a goody bag with tooth brush and paste, and the doctor gave them a coin to use in some toys machines they have in the office. I'm so happy I've found this place. read more

Last year my son's pediatrician told me it was time for my son to start having regular dentist appointments. I did some homework on pediatric dentists and settled on Dr. Skordalakis. He has a wonderful demeanor with kids that puts both kids and parents at ease. Dr. S. has young children, which I think makes him especially good with kids. His equipment is on the cutting edge of dental technology, as is his waiting room. It was easy to schedule, parking was plentiful, and the doctor was punctual. The reception area at the Sterling location is the better of Dr. S's two offices (the other is in Vienna). There are toys for kids of all ages including an XBox 360. All of the chairs in the office appeared to have ceiling-mounted flat screen TVs playing kids' shows. I wish they had that when I was a kid! My son actually enjoyed going to the dentist. At the conclusion of my son's first dental appointment, he didn't want to leave the office. Subsequent appointments have been drama-free. read more

I have two children - their personalities are night & day - one is super outgoing and the other is quite shy. Dr. Skordalakis knew how to relate to each one in their own way. I take my kids to the vienna location, which is very easy to get to and lots of parking. The office staff is very friendly and you can tell everyone loves their job and more importantly - love working with kids. As a mom, I also appreciate how well Dr. Skordalakis communicates and his willingness to answer all my questions without ever rushing or hurrying us out the door. read more

This Dentist is beyond amazing. I can not recommend him or his staff enough. I have three kids, two old enough for dental cleanings, and our family had a nightmare experience with Ashburn Children's Dentistry scaring me with 8 cavaties and a crown for my then 5 year old son. We naively did the procedure under anethesia for thousands of dollars, only afterwards for me to hear from several other families who were taken advantage of the same way. It's mind blowing that medical professionals will inappropriately take advantage of kids and parents. Dr S is the opposite and gave me peace and confidence as a parent after such an awful experience. Dr S's group does an amazing jobs with cleaning (the dental assistants are amazing!), Dr S has a very conservative approach with cavities, as well as a great bedside manner and a great way of answering questions and dealing with each child's unique dental needs. Everyone at Dr. Skordalakis's office is amazing - super friendly, very patient, kind and caring. Each person makes the child feel comfortable - from the movies shown on the TVs that are on the ceiling, to the cool shades that the kids wear to protect their eyes from the glare of the overhead light - with fun rooms (Cars, Mario Brothers, etc., fat heads are on the walls of each room) and a token at the end for a cool prize! Dr. Skordalakis and his staff always have a smile on their face and make the dentist experience as stress-free as possible. My son has always been anxious around the dentist - he is sensitive to texture, taste and things being in his personal space; he is not the easiest patient. The hygienists have placed notes in his file to document his preferences and needs to make him as comfortable as possible. Dr. Skordalakis always talks with my son in a very soothing tone of voice, is always calming and everyone explains everything before the procedure is done. Both of my kids have needed to have dental procedures done (a palette expander and a tooth extraction). Dr. Skordalakis has explained why these procedures are suggested, recommended specialists around the area, and offered alternatives and timelines for other options outside of the procedures recommended. I highly recommend Dr. Skordalakis and the Sterling office! read more

I took my 3.5 year old and 2 year old here expecting it to be awful (on my kids part) and to my surprise it was a wonderful experience! They made me and my kids feel so comfortable. We just moved to the area and needed to locate a new dentist for my 3-year-old son. I was quite worried about how he would behave/react to his appointment and did everything I could to prepare him. I found Dr. Skordalakis (Dr. S) through our insurance, read his wonderful reviews, easily scheduled our appointment and began reading "Curious George Goes to the Dentist" daily to prepare my son for a traumatic experience (mainly traumatic for myself). Dr. S's office environment and staff were just like my son's new book. Literally, the office was just like a children's book. Welcoming waiting area, friendly staff and happy faces everywhere. The staff seem to really love their workplace and it shows. The environment was calming (low lights, rich paint colors, essential oil diffusers). Each room had a theme. Thankfully, my son got "The Cars" room. The room itself did not feel sterile and my son climbed right onto the chair without any hesitation. I was fully prepared for my son to not open his mouth and begin his sprint to the door. However, Ms. Cindy, his hygienist showed him everything she would be doing, demonstrating the functions of her tools (Mr. Water, Mr. Thirsty, the toothbrush) the texture of her materials (gloves, gauze, bib) even the smells my son may encounter (toothpaste, fluoride). Ms. Cindy then demonstrated the process on my son's teddy bear. She was AH-Mazing. Finally, after his cleaning and flossing (yes, he sat the whole time and loved every minute), Ms. Cindy stayed with us until Dr. S arrived. (Which I have never experienced before) Dr. S was wonderful! He was soft in his nature and tone. He was friendly and spoke to my child as much as he did to me. Within the first 30 seconds of meeting g Dr. S I loved him! Even though his office was filled with children, you can tell he really takes the time to meet and get to know each of his patients. My only wish is that he accepted adults in his office too. I mean, I like Lighting Mc Queen too! Do yourself a favor and make Dr. S your child's dentist. I promise you won't regret it. read more

My four year old son is a very nervous child in new situations. Dr Skordalakis' staff was amazing and I was so relieved to see my son allowed them to clean his teeth without issues. He loves the tv on the ceiling which was huge! The prize he gets at the end of the appointment was very convincing also! Dr. Skordalakis takes a conservative approach on the kids teeth only doing absolutely necessary procedures when their teeth since their teeth will be gone in a few years anyway. My son was told at age 2 that he had 7 cavities. I got a second opinion with Dr. S. Thank God I did. Dr. S. looked at the x-rays and all the documentation that the other dentist had and said that my son was fine and that he would monitor things. He stated that there could be at some point a cavity but that nothing needed to be done right then. At age 6, my son had his first cavity but it was on a baby tooth and wasn't hurting him. Dr. S. said that he is not a drill and fill kind of doctor unless there is pain and something needs to be done. My son is now 8 years old and we have yet to drill a cavity. I am so thankful for Dr. S. I appreciate his humanity and putting children above making money. read more

I cant be grateful enough for our experience today. Dr S was simply FABULOUS!! Our son was supposed to have 4 root canals. I have been to different 5 dentists in the past 2 months trying to find someone that would work with me on a non-aggressive approach and work with me as I revamped our diet totally in an attempt to avoid drilling at all as the cavities seemed to be exactly the same as they were 3 months ago. Dr S suggested his treatment method, listened to all my concerns and told me that he would work with me - he told me what I need to look for if things start going south on us. He told me that the reason he would work with us observing how the decay was based on my diet plan, our dental hygiene regimen and our son was healthy. Had we to have had any other health issues, he would not have risked adding any load to his immune system. I cant wait to recommend him to anyone and everyone ... We have found our son's dentist until he gets too old for Dr S. I know that Dr S will there working with me on my son's dental health and I finally feel I have a partner I trust deeply - the last 4 dentists I saw in the last 2 months did not give me that trust and confidence ... Office is clean, staff is great, very, very child friendly and Dr S really spends time working with you to find the best possible outcome for your child. The dental assistant Inez was awesome. My son was afraid of getting xrays but she managed to calm him down and got us fantastic images .. 2 other dental office failed to get any xrays as they could not work with my son, 1 office refused and the other insisted that my son be sedated for the root canals before xrays would be done! I could not accept that ... Also - my son LOVES, LOVES, LOVES the office and the goody bag and the token system. We LOOK FORWARD to our next visit .. now .. who says this about ANY dentist? read more
