    Spinach Empanada

Overall the service was 10/10! The food was fresh and very good. The only thing I was disappointed about was the WiFi. It was currently down so I could not stay for long. I would rate the buffalo chicken empanada my least favorite and the Saleta my favorite!

We ordered four different empanadas. I was really excited to try this place because it's rated really well, but our food was not good. We placed an order for pickup and within a few minutes our order said it was ready. I knew right away, these were not going to be fresh. Not to mention the guy working wasn't very friendly at all. The bacon and cheese empanada was absolutely disgusting. I don't even know what kind of eggs those were, but we hated it. It had a strange taste and something was off about it. The vegan Al Pastor wasn't bad for vegan. I could taste soy "meat" a little. It was ok. The chicken and Buffalo chicken was ok. All 4 seemed not fresh and almost reheated. Disappointing and would not return. I felt like we wasted $20. I think the only thing that was really delicious was the chimichurri sauce. I did really like that.

While in town my friend took me to this quaint restaurant for coffee. But the empanadas were the STAR and so delicious with homemade flavors. Also, the coffee was so good, not your usual store brand but imported. Service was quick and nice wait staff. All I can say is give this place a try folks if you're local to the area. The empanadas were really good and tasty. We tried the mushroom, broccoli, onion and spinach variety. I took some to go for savory breakfast!

Lovely little place in downtown Homewood. Decided to go with a friend after working at the library. I ordered two empanadas and the woman working suggested I get the lunch combo (2 empanadas + a sauce + a drink) despite it being 3:30pm (not sure when they consider "lunch"). The chimichurri sauce was very yummy. So were the empanadas (chicken and 4 cheese). The amazing woman working also offered us extra cheese empanadas which was greatly appreciated! They have specifically listened vegetarian/vegan/gluten free options. Can't wait to try more of their empanadas!

It's nice to have something like this in the area. The service was excellent. At the time of this review I unfortunately have forgotten the young man's name but he was very welcoming and informative. He walked us through the different options and even showed us how they were labeled in the box so we knew whose was whose. I really wanted the dessert empanadas but the case was empty at the time we came. We had corn, chicken, Turkey pot pie and vegan spinach and mushroom. They were all hot and fresh. The spinach was wayyyyy to overpowering in the spinach and mushroom so I ended up tossing that one away but they rest were all very tasty. I didn't try the dipping sauce it came with. Note: he mentioned it was one sauce per order and each extra was $.50 no matter how many people were sharing. As a speciality shop in Homewood I understand why these empanadas are $3+/each and to have them nice and fresh was nice but I do think they're a little pricey for the small size. It's a nice option to have when you want something different.

Best empanadas I have ever had! And with the most fillings. Each had its filling stamped on the outside so that you know which is which. Friendly reminder staff. Tried spinach, beef, pork, sausage, and apple empanadas. Liked the beef and pork best. Sausage and cheese tasted like pizza. Also got mango gelato and other flavors at our table. Gave us generous portions of each flavor. Small restaurant with two tables and chairs inside, as well as a taller bench along the wall. Wheelchair accessible. I wish they turned the a/c on. Street parking rides in front.

I was scoping out places we could pick up some good quality empanadas, and I was delighted to find this place outside of Chicago. Even more delighted to see the number of vegetarian empanadas they offer! We picked up a few to try, including the Vegan Al Pastor. Everything was tasty, and I loved their Chimichurri Sauce! I would definitely return for my next empanada craving.

Everything is decorated beautifully - it feels more like you're downtown than if you were in Evergreen Park. The food is absolutely amazing - I love their shrimp tapas. Kudos Ramon! I also acknowledge the tremendous service from our main waiter Jose. Atmosphere 5 Stars So we sat on the patio which was enclosed and heated with an outdoor propane heat lamp. IT WAS A PERFECT SETTING for our annual couples dinner. The music was not as loud as in the main dining room and it was more illuminated--exactly the atmosphere desired for conversation with friends while breaking bread. Food = PERFECTION! We started with three delicious appetizers - 1) Patatas Bravas: Spicy potato bites with creamy guajillo aioli. The potatoes were a 3 out of 10 on the heat meter, but the aioli had kick! 2) Guacamole: Onion, serrano, cilantro, lime juice, minced garlic - Topped with Pico De Gallo - Served with homemade chips. 3) Salsa Trio: Creamy Salsa Verde, Molcajete Salsa Roja, Pico de Gallo served with Homemade chips. One friend ordered the Baja Tacos - Creamy Coleslaw, Beer battered White fish, Chipotle Aioli with a side of Buttered White Rice. His plate was empty in no time and he expressed his pleasure with the dish. Two in our dinner party had the Salmon Al Carbon - 12Hour Marinated spice rub 8oz Salmon fillet al Carbon with a side of Buttered White Rice with the skin removed and crisped on the side. My wife who I expected would only eat a few bites actually consumed almost the entire piece of salmon, and my dear friend ate her entire dish! Another ordered the "Camarones A La Diabla" - 6 Jumbo Shrimp sauteed with minced garlic and Diablo Sauce served with a side of Buttered White Rice. Another empty plate. (There is a theme developing here). Finally, I had the "Chuletas De Cordero" - Lamb Chops Marinated With Herbs & Spices. Served Over Creamy Mashed Potato Puree, Alongside a delicious Chimichurri & Rich savory Gravy. I ate everything on that plate!!!! The chef was accommodating and added spinach to the plate. My friend's wife ordered a "Special" -- A Seafood Medley Pasta in a Marinara Sauce Shrimp, Calamari & Mussels if a rich pasta sauce with toasted baguettes prepared perfectly to order--I'm certain because my friend has a crustacean allergy so she ordered the dish without the shrimp and it was obvious when she didn't have an allergic reaction that the dish was freshly prepared and they didn't simply remove the shrimp. It also must have been delicious because the bowl was empty! She also ordered a side of Mexican Street Corn (Corn, butter, mayo, cotija chees, & chile powder). Yes there was room for desserts, so I ordered the Dessert Sampler for us to share - Tres Leches, a Delicate Layers Of Mexican Coffee Soaked Galletas Marias & Creamy Mascarpone; Tiramisu composed of Delicate Layers Of Mexican Coffee Soaked Galletas Marias & Creamy Mascarpone, and ordinarily a Creme Brûlée but they were out and substituted Churros-Freshly Fried, Rolled In Cinnamon Sugar Served With Dulce De Leche for the unavailable Creme Brûlée which was disappointing). My buddy l's wife had the Dessert Special -- Banana Bread Putting with caramel drizzle and vanilla bean ice cream. I had to taste all four desserts but couldn't pick a favorite because they were all EXCELLENT! 5 STAR EXPERIENCE IN THIS HIDDEN GEM!!!!

It's tucked in an industrial park area, but there's plenty of parking and the service is just as warm and welcoming as their other location in Morton Grove! There's even a picnic table outside for anyone wanting to enjoy their hot empanadas right then and there. They offer a well priced lunch special that's $16 for 2 empanadas, 2 sauces, a side, and a drink! It's a great deal! I got several empanadas - Butter chicken which tastes just a delicious plate of homemade butter chicken wrapped in a flaky baked crust. It's not spicy, but spiced well for all the flavors! Philly Cheesesteak our family favorite. Cheesesteak in an easy to hold flaky crust. I kinda wish there was a little more cheese, but they don't skimp on the meat! Chicken pot pie, another tasty empanada. They top it with a sprinkle of fresh rosemary which isn't quite a favorite for our family, but it's pretty easy to remove most of it. It has all the fixings and flavorings of a warm, comforting pot pie! Mac and cheese - who would have imagined it could be an empanada, but it is and it's tasty. My son loves this because he really loves Mac n cheese and loves the empanada crusts. I got the elote as a side which is buttery and salty, a good side to accompany the meal. Fresh corn that crunched which made us happy. I also got the longonisa fried rice! If you never had longinisa, it's a must try. Imagine it to be similar to Chinese sausage, but less cured and just delicately seasoned. Everything about this fried rice made me wish I had more. I'll be returning to pick up some frozen take and bake so we will have them handy whenever the craving hits.

The beef itself is seasoned and cooked perfectly. I had it with chimichurri sauce and it went well with it. The Ube horchata was meh for me. I wanted to try it though and I'm glad I did.
