Modern, classic elegance with an appealing subtle color palette. Simply beautiful! The service was outstanding. They were highly attentive and responded to all of our needs quickly and happily in a very friendly, courteous way, Daisy and her team of bus support were unbelievably attentive. If you go on a day that she is there, ask to be seated in her section. Good service with good food has a tendency to take your experience to atmospheric levels! The bread baskets were filled with rustic Italian bread that was so delicious I thought I was at a trattoria in the rolling hills of Tuscany. Instead of butter, the upscale olive oil dip was very authentic. The menu offers a wide variety of choices for everyone that appeals to carnivores and vegetarians alike. Pastas, beef, pork, lamb and seafood. I asked to substitute one starch for another and the chef made it happen! The food was incredibly fresh. My dining companions has the Maple glazed salmon. The other had the lamb chops. Both raved about the freshness of their meals as well as the perfection to which their dishes were cooked! I had the scallops and substituted the starch with Truffle Fries. The theatrics associated with the presentation of my scallops was breathtaking. It was au flambé! They were so fresh and slightly crusted, i'd never tasted anything that delicious before. Even popular and legendary EAST COAST seafood restaurants could learn a lot about the preparation and presentation of scallops. My meal appropriately mixed textures, tangy tartness and sweetness in the veggie dish consisting of chopped zucchini sweet potatoes and spinach. The way that our meals were plated and presented was sheer "ART," worthy of a museum display. It's a bit pricey, but worth every penny! If I were to recommend an enhancement, I'd recommend some soft background music/jazz or a singer and pianist. It's that type of place. We were celebrating a friend's birthday. The presentation was spectacular! I can't wait to dine al fresco when the weather permits!

I also understand that servers sometimes make assumptions about guests. However, every customer deserves the same level of attention and service, regardless of what a server thinks the tip may be. According to the receipt provided by the manager, I believe our server's name was Jaden. Unfortunately, she never introduced herself and only checked on our table once throughout the meal. Most of the service we received actually came from the manager on duty. I found myself repeatedly getting up to ask for things until I finally asked Jaden, if she was our server. I hoped that would prompt a little more attention to our table, but it didn't. Instead, she remained focused on another table that had arrived before us and was still there after we left. I watched her check on them four or five times while our table was largely ignored. Whether intentionally or not, it certainly felt as though she had decided our table wasn't worth her time. If that was her assumption, then in this particular case she was correct about one thing: my husband and I will not tip for bad service. I have no problem rewarding excellent service, but I also believe tips should reflect the quality of the experience provided. Rather than leaving money for poor service, I chose to give the cash I had to the busboys, who were attentive and helpful throughout the evening. The reason I'm sharing this review is because I don't want one bad experience to overshadow what has otherwise been a good restaurant. I've dined here several times before, live nearby, and have always enjoyed my visits. That's why this experience stood out so much. I'm willing to give the restaurant another chance because I know the level of service they're capable of providing. My hope is that when I return, every guest will receive the same level of attention and hospitality, regardless of assumptions about who they are or what they may tip. Great service should be consistent, and that's what keeps customers coming back. One final thought: tipping culture only works when both sides do their part. GUESTS should recognize and reward good service, and SERVERS should provide quality service to every table. When assumptions are made on either side, EVERYONE loses.

We came in looking forward to dinner and unfortunately left disappointed…read more The positives first: my wife's espresso martini was excellent -- easily the highlight of the evening. Her Chicken Vesuvio was very good, and the Shrimp DeJonghe appetizer was enjoyable, especially with the bread. Unfortunately, everything declined once the entrées arrived. My porterhouse steak was placed on the table rather abruptly, and the cut looked more like a T-bone, with the filet portion nearly nonexistent. The quality of the meat was poor and extremely tough -- barely edible. I rarely ask for A1 sauce with a steak, but it was the only way I could get through it. The baked potato was dry, and while the side salad was fresh, it felt more like cafeteria-quality than something from a restaurant at this price point. Shortly after dropping off the entrées, the waitress quickly asked how the food was. I responded, "just okay," but she immediately walked away, not giving the impression that she was interested in hearing anything further. That set the tone for the rest of the service. What made the situation more disappointing was seeing the table next to us receive the same porterhouse. Their steak appeared nearly twice the size of mine, had a clearly defined filet portion, and they were able to cut into it effortlessly. The inconsistency was very noticeable. After that, service was largely absent. We waited about 20 minutes trying to locate our waitress Dee with no success. The owner did stop by and was very friendly when we asked for A1 sauce, but overall the service remained slow. It took roughly 30 minutes to get a water refill and another 30 minutes to receive our check. The explanation given was that she had been in the back handling a difficult order. For the price and expectations that come with ordering a porterhouse, this experience did not meet the standard. While there were a few bright spots, the inconsistency in food quality and service makes this a 2-star experience at best.

Since I was solo, I sat at the bar. I wanted to start with spinach artichoke dip. There was none. So, I ordered carrot and black bean tacos. The tacos were a good backup. Those who lean towards vegetarian would like them. I must say that I was expecting some heat from the jalapeños. For my main dish, I had the shrimp and grits. It took a few swallows before the flavor kicked in. The sauce was tasty, but was maybe a notch above mildly seasoned. I have a feeling that the tomatoes in the recipe added a little acidity. With the addition of spinach, this dish landed in gourmet territory. From what I gather, the restaurant has been under new management for a few years. It feels like they are working out kinks. I will give them a few months before I try them again.

I'm not really gonna talk about the ambience, because for me it wasn't there, but that is not the basis of my scoring. The old-fashioned made by our waiter was good, excellent, perfect. We wanted a margarita, but they let us know that they did not have the materials needed to make it. They also did not have the ingredients to make a few starters and entrées on the menu so their limited menu became even more limited. The food, we ordered crabcakes, and a colossal honey glazed shrimp. The crabcakes came out and they were flat, they looked like what was supposed to be one crabcake broken into three. The shrimp came out and instead of having colossal shrimp we had small shrimp, maybe even baby shrimp. We addressed the concern with the shrimp and they said they're not going to charge us for it. With our pasta came a side salad, the salad and the salad dressing, which was a lemon vinaigrette, was good. When we received the pasta, there was only four pieces of sausage, the chicken was unseasoned and the sauce was cheese sauce with hot sauce added, no other seasoning. Nothing about the pasta was Nola.

5 stars for food 4 stars for paying the bill…read more This is such a cute location / looks like an old lodge. Lots of wood and such an interesting layout. When you arrive there is a large seating area to the left, includes lots of larger tables for bigger groups. Then if you wind your way into the main area, there are tables that face outward on the first floor, a middle section with seating and then a balcony area. Really interesting restaurant that was fun to walk around. Our server was great - we had a large party and orders were taken and we didn't wait too long for food to start arriving. On recommendation we ordered the stuffed pizza - which is like a calzone. Lots of cheese, toppings, great crust and delicious red sauce on top! Not quite a deep dish but oh so delicious. We also ordered the Caesar salad, which was shareable and the garlic sticks! Food was hot, fresh and I can't wait to go back for the pizza! Only downside was we had to pay by table and all the drinks ended up on my check, which added a few hundred dollars. Overall pizza was amazing and I'll be back!

I walked up to the building and was immediately impressed. This place is HUGE! Never seen a pizza place this big! The building itself and all the nooks and crannies in the place was very impressive! The Pope room, too! So cool! I got seated at a table and went with a small sausage, well done, cooked in the old oven and had a glass of water to drink. How was the pizza? Different, but really good! The pizza came out and I dug right in. They do the toppings under the cheese here. The sausage was excellent! Some of the better sausage I can remember. The cheese was unique. I've heard mozzarella and scamorza cheese? It was tasty and I liked it. It tasted like the cheese skirt around some Detroit style pizzas (weird description, I know). The sauce is the only thing I wasn't the biggest fan of. Little too sweet. I ate 5 of the 8 slices and was on my way. Would definitely come back. 4 stars for the actual pizza, bonus star for the friendly staff, the building itself, and the Pope room.

We both love the pizza, and in fact, it's so good that we've hardly ever tried anything else. When we did stray off the pizza selection, the food has all been delicious. Contrary to popular belief, "Chicago Style" pan pizza isn't typically eaten every day by folks that live here. Everyone would be 1,000 pounds. The wife and I go to Louisa's probably 6-10 times a year because it's incredibly filling, but it NEVER disappoints. The service is always fantastic. I'm 99% sure the same family has owned it (Louisa's family - God rest her soul), so the whole "family vibe" is on full tilt at this place and it shows in their service. Servers who care about your business because the business itself is more than just a part time job. The restaurant is quaint, and is perfectly suited for either a date night or a full-on family function. Their side room is plant big enough to host a private party or event, and I know they often book that room for exactly that. But the real focus for us is the pizza. The pans that are used over and over again. The buttery crust that is always crispy and not too think. The ripe tomatoes that are always seasoned perfectly... the real of the show at Louisa's is their sausage. It's literally like none other we've ever had and we love it!! This place is a must try for locals that love pan pizza!
