This is addendum to a review that I wrote last fall. Empire did great work, however have failed in the follow up. We had a porch and deck done. The doors are less than a year old and have already warped and are coming apart. A screened in porch is not very efficient if it lets mosquitos in through the doors! Our Sales manager came out when we called, agreed that there were issues with the doors. We were suppose to hear from the contractor. A month and a half later after emails and several phone calls, he returned our call and said he couldn't get anyone out and told us to contact the owner. We then reached out to the owner. It is now another month with several calls to the owner and we have heard nothing. They will finish your job, take your money but will not stand behind their work. We did think about using them for our bathrooms, going to find someone else who will be around after the job is done. read more

I'm going to start this off by simply saying that I am blown away by how awesome Andy, Jim, and the rest of their crew are. They were so quick with their initial quote. I chose them simply based on the fact that no other companies ever contacted me back for my siding repair. They were able to schedule the repair quickly, and when it came to the actual job, they finished in a very timely manner. The most important part? They did an INCREDIBLE job with the repair. We made the typical mistake of putting our grill a bit too close to our house. We expected to be able to notice at lest a little bit of a difference since we were just getting the small area repaired, but they did so good of a job, that you never would've guessed that anything happened!! This review is not for the quality of the work which was good but for everything that happened afterwards. We paid 16K, timely and in full, for new windows. A couple of months later we receive a lien on our property for 6K, from the window company stating, that Empire 1 never fully paid for the windows. When we tried to call Clint or Michael at Empire 1 no one would answer our calls or emails. We tried to call repeatedly and we sent a letter but they never replied. read more

After a horrible experience with another skylight installer, Empire 1 came in and took out the prior poor work and did a great job installing a new one. They were friendly and great communicators and the workmanship was great. Could not recommend them enough. read more

They never showed up for warranty work once bill was paid in full. Do your homework before hiring them and remember a warranty is only good if they show up. I was told I had a 50 year warranty from certainteed on labor and materials. This warranty is not worth the paper it's written on. I called number on warranty and was told to call Clinton Gavin owner of Empire 1 Home Improvements. After many emails, text messages and phone calls, no response. We had Empire1 out to replace the 94-year-old roof on our house just before we sold it in December, and we are very satisfied overall with their work. Jim came out and was great to talk to about different options, and gave us a nicely itemized list for the roof, gutters, trim, etc., so that we could choose what we wanted to do knowing exactly how much it would cost. I've had a really hard time getting other contractors to itemize things like this, so I appreciated that. Once we agreed on the scope of the job and the price, there were some scheduling delays due to weather and workers out with covid, which were a little nerve-wracking given our tight timeframe, but they got it done! The workmen were very conscientious and worked hard. They also spent a long time cleaning up, even as it got dark and was freezing cold. The roof looks great! Although we won't be here to enjoy it ourselves, it feels good to pass along the house knowing there will be no leaks or issues for many years to come. Thank you Empire1! read more

We had 9 windows replaced. Empire 1 was awesome. Jim Sullivan and Eric were nice people to deal with, great prices, and everything was done in a timely manner. I had an excellent experience with Empire 1 home improvements. I spoke to Clinton originally; he connected me with Andy who coordinated the installation jobs. There was some time between the inside and outside jobs but quite understandable considering the times. The crew that did the outside work were professional and conscientious as were the two men that did the interior work. Great attention to detail and quality of work. Clinton and Andy were committed to doing a great job. Their crew was careful and polite. Clinton came into the project with real problem areas done by horrible roofers called Two Penn. I had to take them to court. The situation was assessed by Empire (and he brought Velux in as well) to see what the problem was. Long story short, Empire removed 4 skylights, replaced two others and then finished the ceiling with plaster. Two Penn had damaged all the flashing on the windows and that in turn did damage to the skylights themselves. Now, the room has never looked better and I no longer dread the rain. Both Clinton and Andy were a pleasure to work with. They responded in a timely fashion and left no detail unattended. When it comes time to do my entire roof again, (I wish I had hired them to do it in the first place), I will look no further than Empire 1. We just got our roof done by Empire 1 and I have nothing but great things to say about them. They are all very professional and their price was extremely reasonable. We had some structural issues and needed a large section of our roof reframed, along with needing a skylight replaced. They were able to do all of this and replace the whole roof in a day's work, and at an excellent price. Clinton was extremely helpful, professional, and didn't try to sell us on anything we weren't comfortable with, like some of the other roofing companies we got quotes from before Empire 1. We also got our ice dams removed by Empire 1 this past winter. Clinton was able to come out quickly and did a great job - we ended up referring him to two family members for ice dam removal. This was a referral from someone my Husband works with. I have to say I was very nervous about getting my roof done! Its an old house that was built in the late 1800- early1900 's .WOW! they were fast/professional and fun! Courteous and respectful too! Where do you find that kind of quality! Great attention to detail and very patient with my millions of questions. They do have to come back to finish a few odds and ends this week. But I don't see any problems. Andy came back to give it the final once over, and he even cleaned the yard. We've been dealing with ice dam leaks and contacted Empire based on great reviews. Clinton arrived quickly and was thorough but didn't seem confident in how to fix the issue. He recommended waiting to see if other changes we made, such as added insulation, resolved the issue but after the first big snow storm, we had leaks again. I contacted Empire and they quickly arrived to clear the roof of snow but damaged several shingles in the process. I tried Empire in the spring to quote a long term fix and they didn't return my calls. I think my issue was beyond their capability, but rather than be honest they chose not to return the calls. I found another contractor and now have a partial rubber roof which I have confidence will solve our ice dams and leaks once and for all. If you need a new shingle roof, this company may be a good choice but if you have ice dam issues or need a rubber roof, I would avoid Empire. read more
