Retired Hairstylist of 8 years and I cannot fade like these guys at Empire Barber. I am a picky picky mom but was at ease here . Jonathan was a referral from a friend , he did a great job with my sons hair . It grows like a bush every few weeks and if difficult to cut with all the growth patterns. We were in and out in 30 minutes . Neckline and collar were cleaned off dusted and air sprayed with very little stray hairs that poke Incase you have other places to go afterwards . Other places don't pay attention to cleanliness and customer comfort: and trust me I've been to a lot of other places . Hair was styled exactly like the photo requested . Top was point cut instead of a blunt straight cut which is how it should be done as it doesnt show lines that way and blends better with regrowth. Side and bottom were faded in as To not show sharp lines . Overall very professional and fine detail on the finishing touches. If oNly they can specialize in women's hair the same way , but it's all male barbershop. Kids haircut about $15 . I'm on the road - as usual - and found myself in urgent need of a haircut for a business function tomorrow and an important dinner tonight. I'm staying in a swanky hotel in downtown Tampa and the snooty front desk recommended a salon. I called them. The person who answered the phone was openly rude and abruptly informed me there were no appointments available today. One of the hotel employees had a very good haircut and I asked him where he got his hair done and he told me about Empire Barbershop in West Tampa and recommended I ask for Johnathan. The results are amazing! Empire is in a working class neighborhood and had three real craftsmen on duty when I walked in. Johnathan greeted me and put me in his chair. I told him how I wanted my hair and he did a perfect job with high quality products in a welcoming and friendly shop. Very unprofessional barbershop. Difficult to schedule an appointment. If you do get an appointment they are never on time. The barbers talk on their cell phones while they are cutting your hair. If you have an appointment with one of the barbers and a friend of theirs comes in, then they will bump their friends in front of you. The place is very loud. This place is terrible! I did not have an appointment and went as a walk in. There were 8 total barbers and only 4 we're currently cutting. The other 4 that were lounging around refused to cut my hair. I asked another, I believe is the owner, if he was available and he told me no he's booked. Then a couple minutes later he is cutting a Guys hair while telling him, he needs to cut it quick because he has an appointment coming soonthen one guys offers to cut my hair before his appointment showed up...worse haircut ever!!! I have clipper burns. And when alcohol was rubbed on after, the burn was terrible!! I would give this ZERO STARS if I had the option!!!! read more

They just lost a regular. The barber at the far right end with a hat and tattoos who was "my barber" totally botched my fade. He was in such a rush it was hardly surprising in hindsight. I texted him with a picture telling him he messed it up, instead of offering to fix it and apologizing, he just replied that I f'd up..wow. How? By letting you cut my hair? Guess you're right. But today I was being charged an extra $5 because the man who cut our hair thought my younger brother was over 12 I wouldn't blame him because my brother looks bigger then he actually is.
