Let's face it.. I'm a guy who recently turned 30 and my hair ain't growin' any thicker. I still have to cut my hair tho! The shop wasn't packed but it seemed to have a steady influx of guys coming in. The barbers all seemed pretty cool and seemed to have easy going personalities. Not overly talkative but not mute either. They really seemed to care honestly. Anyway, I had Derrick and he did an awesome job. Being newer to Tampa, this was my first haircut here so I asked his opinion of what to do with my hair. He said let's stick with what you normally do so you can base us off of that and then we can do this and that etc. which I thought was very thoughtful of him ("I wouldn't want your wife coming to knock on our door yelling at us ) Anyway, I'll definitely be coming back. I'm new to the Tampa area, so I've been searching for a go to place to get my haircut. I was expecting a good cut based on all the Yelp reviews and I was not disappointed. It was a bit of a wait as there were 8 people ahead of me, but I knew that based on the Yelp reviews. Gave me time to do some other things in a very comfortable space with some AC/DC and other rock bands playing at a very comfortable level. Chris (the owner) cut my hair and we had a great conversation too. He's got a great attitude, as does the other barber, and they both were smiling and talking to their customers. Bonus was that when Chris learned I was new to the area, he asked what I was looking for and gave me many recommendations not just in the Seminole Heights neighborhood but also around Tampa. I was expecting to pay $25-$30 for the cut but it was a steal at just $17. Plenty of cash left over to tip my barber for a job well done. read more

Haircuts! All of us guys need them, you can go anywhere and have it cut and not be happy with the results, but not here! These guys are 'old school' style with a twist on modern hair styles, they take this job seriously and by the size of the wait, you can understand their job or in this case, passion. Good atmosphere, top notch barbers, etc. That being said a babershop is usually busiest on a Saturday morning, and on multiple occasions they will only have two barbers working resulting in a wait of over an hour even very early in the day. read more

If you want a quick review, if you are a guy who wants a great haircut come here, period. The barbers at this shop take the art and craft of being a barber seriously and it shows in their work. I travel a lot for work, all over the country, and I received one of the best haircuts I have ever had in my life from this shop. I am very particular about my haircut, I keep it fairly short on top with a fade. Sounds easy enough to cut right? You'd be surprised how many barbers I go to and end up looking like shit. So, I read the Yelp reviews for here and though I'd give it a try and I am so glad I did. It wasn't very long of a wait, maybe 20 min. and when they got to me the barber was courteous and friendly. He took his time listening to what I wanted, this was especially important to me as my previous haircut at another shop had left it looking a mess. The barber took his time, ensured I was 100% happy with the cut before cleaning up the edges with a straight razor, the finishing touch on a great cut. Keep in mind, I drove 20 min. to get to this place just based on the Yelp review and it was worth it. So much so I am headed back today. I've been looking for a Barber here in Tampa since I moved here. I found my place! The most important aspects for me in a barber and barbershop is the quality of the cut, value, and the vibe. This place delivers on all 3. I "walked in" at 930am on a Saturday and the three barber chairs were occupied with clients getting cuts. There were 4 of us waiting but the other three were waiting for their respective barber. I waited about 15 minutes and got my hair cut by Derek. He did a great job on giving me a zero fade. He even made recommendations on how I should cut my hair, which I appreciated (since I don't have much left!!). The barbers were all friendly and I enjoyed the conversation. Quick Summary: Being a barber is a fading art, but this spot does an excellent job preserving the unique talent of giving a great haircut. You know they're authentic when they finish with a straight razor... This barber shop is like the old school ones you see in nostalgic movies about small town USA. Only a few chairs, and acouple of guys stopping in for a quick, yet excellent cut. I mistakenly got my hair cut on base, and realized immediately after that I needed to find a real barber. Yelp lead me here and did not do wrong. Sure the base is cheaper, but it's like they say... you get what you pay for.... My hair cut came out so much better than before... and the finish oh man... so good. They use a hot shaving cream with a straight blade... nothing makes you feel as good. Couldn't disagree with "Ryan A" more. I moved here from Detroit in February and went here for a cut. The guys had never seen me before (clearly) and treated me the same as a guy in the chair who was clearly a regular. I got the full treatment including trimming the eyebrows and the hot neck shave. Honestly I wasn't treated any differently than anyone else there. And the treatment is first-class. This isn't a chain - it's run like a family business, and businesses like that aren't there to be slaves to consumers. Don't get miffed when they close early at random because there's a family emergency - they're people just like anyone else. It's a Barber Shop, not a Salon. If there's a long line, you're going to wait. Be patient and read something, or come back another time. It's not rocket science. Got a really clean and well done cut, loved the old school vibe, and the prices were decent. The only negative I have to say is this...when I took my 6 year old son with me to get his hair cut also, during our wait the language being used in conversations between the barber and client wasn't the best. My 6 year old heard at least a have dozen cuss words. Other than that, these guys did a phenomenal job on our hair and were super friendly. read more

I walked right in and asked them to help me and Chris came to the rescue. That guy is magic with a straight razor! I was amazed with his skill and talent and among other things his knowledge of music and the bay area. The guys in the shop have a great sense of humor and make it super comfortable in there. After much searching, I think I have found my go-to barber. I drive about 15 mins from South Tampa to go to this fine establishment, if that tells you anything. As I write this review there are 2 barbers, Chris and Keith. Chris is the owner of the shop and a really nice guy, seems to have a huge clientele and plenty of people who will wait for a cut from him. He has not cut my hair but I would definitely trust him with clippers around my head. His cohort, Keith, is the one who has cut my hair a couple times now and I have been pleased both times. He takes the time to listen to what you want and is very diligent throughout. I must say...this is probably the first time I have gone to a barber shop and felt completely at ease with how my hair would turn out. My previous barber started to become difficult when it came to certain things, so I decided to make a change. Not knowing what's what, I asked a few friends who they go to. My buddy recommended this place to me. I didn't make an appointment, just found time between clients and walked-in. After a bit of hesitation I was greeted and then told I could sit in one of the chairs and the gentleman would take care of me. Forgot his name, but he was very nice and courteous. He then proceeded to tell me that it was quite literally his first day on the job. Puzzled... I almost thought he was being sarcastic and wanted to laugh. That would have been nice, but he was being serious. I bite the bullet and let him do his thing -- everyone deserves a chance. Haircut was just OK. Could have been much worse. I had to direct him almost every step of the way. His colleague chimed in here and there when he was unsure of how to proceed. The biggest fault wasn't the barber in the equation -- it was the shop itself. They didn't have compressed air to blow the hair off you. Didn't have a sink to wash your hair. List goes on. Missing a lot of really basic things which barbershops that charge $30+ for a cut should have. The location is also run down and in a seedy part of town. Not the worst, but below average for sure. Went there today for a shave and a hair cut. Just moved to Tampa and looked to yelp for some advice on where to find a shave. This place delivered. I was the first in today, so not sure how excited if I was if I had to wait because as the barber put it: "I'm giving you your money's worth." Shave and cut and I was in the chair for about an hour. $32 for both, so that's a good price. Straight razor for the shave, which I give them props for. Left with a couple of nicks, but nothing I haven't done to myself. I'll have to come back and try it during some other hours before I give it 5 stars, but I'm definitely coming back. read more

I've been coming here for a few years now after I first discovered it via Yelp. It's always a high-quality cut. At least for the style I like, there's surprisingly good "quality control" between the 3 main barbers so I don't have to wait for a certain one to become available. Since they operate on a first-come, first-serve basis, I just advise avoiding peak times if you can (e.g., Saturday mornings)! Scott's been my barber since I moved to Tampa in July and I couldn't be happier with my haircuts. When he first started cutting my hair he was in Ybor. I'm much happier with the new location. I'm biased though since I live down the street. The Ybor location was nice, but I always had a fairly difficult time finding parking. Not an issue at the new place. Like some of the other reviewers, I'm fairly picky about my hair. This is the one place I can go to and know that I'm going to walk out with a great haircut. Whenever the owner has cut my hair, it feels like he doesn't take the time to full understand what I want. Like I'll say I want the sides and back cut short but not too short. He says okay and without further discussion grabs a razor and proceeds to cut my hair way shorter than I wanted. I asked to trim the top and he just cuts bits off of one layer. Then he puts some greasy product on my hair without warning or asking if I want it. I didn't come in with it on so im not sure why he put it on without warningIt feels like if you stop or question anything he's doing he'll take offense and bite your head off. I've come here a couple times but this is probably the last. Now my hair cut makes me look like a neo-nazi or something which kinda sucks. All he had to do was not automatically grease my hair up and I could've seen what it actually looked like and maybe we could've salvaged it. Only ever had this issue with the owner. Cool guy but probably better off sticking to older dudes hair. I'd say definitely come here if you're looking for that classic old school, dapper haircut but not for anything modern or fancy. read more
