We had our new construction home fence extended about 42 feet. John, the salesman was good in understanding our needs and the HOA rules. Chano and Ramon actually did the work and did a good job as well. My only issue is that there is a small gap between the fence and ground due to the slope of a small part of the yard. I probably should have requested they use 7' pickets and trim those on the slope down to 6 ft. But I used some rock and dirt to backfill and it looks pretty good. The work was started right away after we got HOA approval and was completed efficiently, despite some bad weather. We love our new fence, and enjoyed working with Empire Fence. I called several fence companies in town and were less then impressed with the fact that they wouldn't call back, wanted 50% down and/or were just plain rude on email. Craig at Empire Fence was great to work with. He stayed in contact with me via email and phone calls (and was patient with my many questions for him.) Their price was very competitive. The crew that came out to do the fence did a GREAT job. They removed our very old fence, hauled everything away, cleaned up the yard completely, and put up our brand new fence. You can tell they took pride in their work, and everything ended up looking great. They were also super nice (even showing my 2 year old obsessed with construction work everything they were doing...) We had a great experience using Empire Fence. Craig is a super nice, down to earth guy who stands by his work. They worked quickly, efficiently, and took great care as to not mess up our newly installed landscaping. His crew installed a horizontal fence with a steel framed automatic gate for us. Everything looks great, works great, and is nice and sturdy. The gate operator is the best part- I can control it with my mobile phone anywhere in the world (it requires an optional internet gateway but it's 100% worth it). I've recently noticed two pickets have warped due to the (past) rain and (now) heat, which is totally natural. So I called up Craig and he came out and took care of it (under the 1 year warranty). No bid after a month of waiting despite repeated promises to do so. I had two jobs, one a residential and the other a considerably larger one for some condos. I spent a couple hours showing the two projects to the company manager and was promised a bid within about three days. After three more attempts to solicit the bid and three promises it would be forthcoming....nothing. A waste of time and a good indication of quality of work to follow. read more

I wanted to write a less than 5-star review. I really wanted to. I wanted to say something snarky like "just better than hiring a guy and a truck." But that wouldn't be true. First, the project manager worked hard to get our job. We had very specific fencing needs because of the pool and the material we wanted. Craig found the material that fit the requirements. [This was after Very large fence company representative gave up looking for a fit.] Craig was patient throughout the process, responsive to my questions, and considerate of my concerns. Second, the job quality is really good. There were two separate crews on the job [it was a sizable job] and one was clearly better than the other; although, that's not quite fair because the primary crew was very good and did a good job. It's just that Rudy [on the second crew and who has been mentioned elsewhere] exhibited a meticulous attention to detail. Third. While scheduling of the project could have been handled better [and this is why I was going rate them less than 5-star], Craig stayed on the top of the job and was responsive each time that I called him. He never ducked my phone calls [there were many!] asking about construction details and his involvement with a neighbor issue. FINALLY, when I asked that a General Manager contact me, I was pleasantly surprised to hear from the Owner. I explained why I thought the scheduling could have been handled better and why I was disappointed in how one of the crews managed their time. [See "guy and a truck" comment above.] The owner acknowledged the problem and came to a more than satisfactory resolution. In short, HE STOOD BEHIND the company name and did WAY MORE than a "guy and a truck" would have done to make it right. I would absolutely use them again [even though I hope I never have to use them again for a household fence :)]. I am very happy with the way the fence looks [I've already gotten favorable comments from neighbors and referred Empire to them] I am extremely impressed with how Craig and the owner responded to my concerns. read more

From reading the other reviews, these guys may do great work, but that's if you can get them to call you back. I called asking about having an automatic gate opener installed on my driveway gate. The rep took my information down and said a salesperson would get back to me shortly. Two days went by without a response. Rather than just moving on, I decided to call back. The rep again they would give me a call back. Now another week has gone by with still no word. I've hired a different company. If this is the kind of response you get when they are competing for your business, I'd be concerned about their response once they've won the job. read more

I can't say enough good things about Empire Fence! From start to finish, John kept me informed on the entire process and progress. This company truly stands by their word when it comes to ensuring the customers satisfaction!! I threw them so many curve balls and they continued to work to exceed my expectations. They installed a custom solar vinyl double gate that was 16 feet wide and this was the first one of this size that they have done. We had a few issues with it at first but let me just say that John and his team kept on problem solving until it was perfect! I am so thankful that they agreed to take on a gate of this size, as many other companies straight out told me they couldn't do it. I made so many calls to John when something went wrong with my gate because of wind issues and he dropped everything just to come fix the problem. My dealings with Empire have been solely through Craig. He has done a good job on answering questions, returning my calls, etc. When the wrought iron fence and 16ft gate installation started, there was a few issues with the workers. I understand things happen, and we can't control everything. After some delay, Craig sent over his "go to" installer named Rudy to fix some problems and to complete the job. Rudy and his crew I have absolutely no complaints about. They are hard workers, and have pride in their work. Fast forward 3 months, and living on the east side of Austin the ground shifted causing the gate post to move and not allowing the opener to work. Rudy came back out and fixed the alignment. Fast forward 5 months bringing us to today. After more rain, there was another post shift. I called Craig on friday, and today Rudy was out at my place at 10am. Rudy again dug up posts, moved, and rewelded, and concreted the side post fixing the gate swing problem. Bottom line is this, dealing with companies, and owning my own business there are going to be problems at times. It's what the company does to fix those issues and stand by their work. Empire Fence does exactly that, and I greatly appreciate Craig, and Rudy for all they have done for me. I will use them for all of my future needs, no question. -Matt read more

I liked dealing with Craig and am thoroughly enjoying my new fence and here's why: 1) Craig is a no pressure, no rush sales guy who is very informative and patient. 2) I had 5 fencing companies come out to give bids and Craig was the only one to point out that I could have an 8' fence legally without getting a city permit since my backyard met certain criteria. 3) My contractor was working on my house at the same time as the Empire crew and he had nothing but good things to say about them. That says a lot as he used to own a fencing company in Houston. He was also very surprised that I wasn't charged more for the rock removal. 4) The fence was installed in a professional and timely manner and looks great. I'm very detailed oriented and did notice some small stuff but it was just too minor to point out. My house is on a hill and Empire did a wonderful job getting the pickets lined up properly. Downside: they don't take credit cards. Sure would have been nice to get the frequent flyer miles. read more
