Empire State Towing tried to charge me $59 for a 3.6-mile tow that should have been fully covered under my AAA membership. I understand paying the congestion fee plus tax, but no one at AAA or Empire State Towing could explain the extra $44. Instead of clarifying, they sent a driver without my consent and demanded payment on arrival. The driver was professional, but the company's billing practices are not. This looks like attempted theft that I'm sure Empire State Towing performs on a regular basis. AAA should not be partnering with a company running scams like this. read more

Land Rover roadside assistance ordered the towing service for me. I contacted this company several times and they kept telling me the truck would be at my house in 45 to 60 minutes. And finally they told me that they need to cancel the service after six hours because they don't have the Dollies. AAA sent them to me. I explained car has no oil. The driver shows up and doesn't bother to actually tow my car. He wanted me to turn the car on to get to his truck. How lazy! He was so rude! The actual tow was fine. The customer service was horrible specifically the tow truck driver Richard Brown. He didn't say a word the whole time he was there. I figured ok he's just getting to work and wants to get this car on the flat bed. Well once he did he just drove off. Uh can you tell me where you're taking the car? Who do I call in the morning? Nothing not a word to me the entire time just drove off. Then I contact the company asking if I can get the pictures of the damaged tire so I can submit a claim to the tire manufacturer since these are new tires; I was ignored. That company close the ticket Land Rover had open with them and left my car in a closing parking instead of calling me back and tell me that they didn't listen to me at the first place and so came after 2 hours and 30 min with a truck too big. I had a very unpleasant experience with them yesterday. I called at 12pm for a tow which was 1.7 miles away 9 minute drive to be exact. I had gotten at eat @ 1:46pm. 2 pm comes by I call I get this rude receptionist I get an eta of 2:54pm. It's now 3:30pm and I'm still waiting for the tow truck called again I was told I should've asked for faster or expedited service !!! I was fed up at this point. I posted a review back in September 2022 regarding Empire Towing losing the key to my Mercedes Benz. They picked up my car and delivered it to the Benz Dealer with the wrong key. I had to bring my spare key to the dealer in order for them to complete repairs. Rude people answering the phone. They tell you they're not ate as if you don't get the automated messages from them telling you the time it's supposed to be picked up. My wife had a simple flat tire today. Mercedes contacted this company at 10:15a.m today. They contacted me and said they would be where I am stuck in 90 min. With in minutes they immediately pushed us back to 180 min. Then when they didn't show by 1:30 I get another text saying another 180 min. I called and they assured me that they would be there within an hour. The hour passed and I called again and I didnt get an explanation but they pushed the time out again. Mercedes cancelled the request and used someone else. 6 hours later now, my wife is now stuck out east and I wont have my car repaired today, all for a simple flat tire. The manager Jon and his team were so helpful and walked me through everything including arranging for a rental car that picked me right up. They keep me informed while dealing with my insurance. It was the best experience possible after seeing my 2019 Nissan Rogue smashed. Got my car back as promised and they even went above and beyond to have the entire car cleaned while they had it. Liars with no decency. They'd leave your children and grandparents in the cold to die. My car broke down in 30 degree weather right off highway in the Bronx. No stores, no people, no bathrooms. Nothing. I called Empire State. They assured me a tow would arrive within 30 minutes. I waited over 2 hrs and spoke to the rep every 15 minutes. Nobody ever came, and the rep kept insisting that the tow guy was "just a few minutes away" each time. I had informed the Empire State rep that I have difficult-to-control asthma that is triggered by the cold and that I would not be able to wait much longer than the 30 minutes. She assured me that the tow would arrive in that time. There was no traffic. I know this from when I was driving and then also from when my father came to pick me up off the street after two hours. Unconscionable. I went to a rental car agency later in the day and received a missed call from Empire State -- FOUR HOURS AFTER I CALLED THEM. It was also the first time they had called me during the entire duration. I have an Audi and this is the towing company that they use for Roadside Assistance in lower Westchester and the Bronx. They started stripping my car in their storage yard 2 days after towing my car, when I found out and refused to use them to do the repairs they started overcharging me at $150 per day for storage & $400 for the towing of my car and they damaged my car and said it was not them they are the worst towing company. read more

So this Company Blew me away. Talk about customer service, you really get to know what a company is about with the way they deal things when they don't go right and these guys get 10/10 from me....A+++ It came from them being asked to tow my car when it broke down. There was a little damage to the body work, nothing major but it was going to be one of those calls. You know where you are going to battle to get it put right.... Nothing could be further from the truth, the owner Luis got on the phone and IMMEDIATELY accepted full responsibility with an apology and asked when he could pick the car up to put it right!! Kinda taken aback I decided to take the car myself to meet this person and see his operation. When I got there the other owner John, seemed so pleased to see me, he gave me a tour of the body workshop they had (full of porches and high end cars, which made me feel comfortable). He told me he'd have the damage fixed and back to me that night, plus they'd do the whole bumper, covering a little dent we'd done to it months before. Honestly, if it were possible I wish I could give them 0 stars. Had my car towed by them because I had a flat tire, due to the time at the moment, they said they needed to put the car in storage and it was going to be driven to the dealership first thing the morning. First thing that happened was the fact that it didn't even get sent out first thing in the morning, instead it arrived at 3 in the afternoon; but this wasn't even the juiciest part of the story. Next morning, I get a call from the dealership stating the price of the fix and it came out to be 10,000-20,000 ... I was extremely confused since I only had a freaking flat tire, how in the world one tire comes out to be as much as a new car give or take. Found out today, that this company is one dishonest, as well as they actually damaged my car; dented my WHOLE front bumper, and tried to just walk it off and make me pay for it. Needed a tow and called allstste motor club. I was transfered to empire state towing. Spoke with the dispatcher and quoted me a 90 minute wait. Not bad since it was late and I requested a flat bed tow truck. The driver showed up a little after the quoted 90 minutes. He was professional and courtesy. Got my car on the truck...not an easy job considering my tire rod was cracked. We followed him to the dealer to drop the car off. He took great care not to further damage the car in getting it off his truck and safely in the dealers lot. Thank you Anthony Rodriguez you are a great asset to your company. I had the worse experience with this company. I was told by the owner he can fix my car for 1600 dollars but what they did what GHETTORIZED the vehicle. First the vehicle was taken more than 5 times a year ago to fix and it came back with a huge space between the bumper and the light that should not happen. a A year later the owner offered to exchange the light and do the right thing, well that did not happened he brought me the wrong light and my technician shows me how my bumper was help with Sheetrock screws mind you I have a 6 year old daughter. Empire tells me that they will take my car again and had promised to change my light well the car comes back with my same light for 2 days I had to rent a car at my own expense and nothing was done. I sent a message to the owner asking him if he did not change the light then what was the purpose of taking my car for 2 days and his professional response was no sense at all and hangs up the phone on me with still no solution to my problem. Do yourself a HUGE favor and call someone else if you plan on getting picked up!!! Last night they were sent by my Roadside assistance company to tow me. Call was placed at 8pm. Quoted 90 minutes. It wasn't until 2 hours later, after I called the Rodside assistance people that their dispatcher called me to say it was going to to be another half hour. 45 minutes later I called the dispatcher again, her name was Marie, and she promised me that she would call the driver, find out his location and call me right back. Never called me back and conveniently directed her calls to voicemail when I called!!!!!! Even when the roadside assistance people called, she refused to answer the phone! At 11:30, 31/2 hours later I was finally picked up. They should never have accepted this tow if they knew they could not make it in time or remotely close to it. They definitely need some customer service skills and a dispatcher that gives a damn! I will recommend that my Roadside Assistance never use them again! read more
