I had a good experience with Empire. The salesman arrived on time. Spent more than an hour with me helping me make a decision about the carpet I wanted. Then quickly sealed the deal with a great price and an install appointment for just two days later. The installers showed up right on time, completed the install in an hour and the carpet looks and feels great! The price they gave me beat the next lowest estimate by several hundred dollars and it is a great quality carpet. I would definitely use them again. read more

Had an appointment with Empire (Charlotte NC) for a full installation including stairs. I chose Empire because I had used them several times before without any problems. This time when the workers came and I showed them where I wanted laminates installed they told me my stairs were not included. They called their boss Senor Carlos, I explained to him that my stairs were inclued - he said it was not. I told him that they would lose a good customer... and he said that's fine! I had already gone over with my salesman who I finally was able to contact through customer service, he sounded half asleep and had amnesia about the stairs. But please don't insinuate I was given a choice in the matter unless you believe putting cheap laminate in my home that matches nothing or paying Empire more money to fix their mistake is a choice. This was an installation problem from the beginning, it is nothing I did wrong. I now have to move everything in my house and empty all closets to prepare for the installation of the carpet AGAIN!! I also have to miss another day of work to be there for the installation of the carpet AGAIN!! My issue in the last review was and is the fact that this could have been less of a hassle for everybody if Empire had just put down laminate that matched in my home without wanting to charge me more money for their mistake! My husband and I agreed to let Empire put laminate down even though it would be a downgrade from the hardwood floor we have in the entire downstairs of our home to keep from going through the hassle of the carpet installation AGAIN! We are mourning the loss of a child and trying to deal with this has been a nightmare for us!!! read more

Buyer beware! The newest snake oil salesman work at empire today. Get it in writing. They promise the world but the installer can't deliver. Corporate policies trump good customer service , this was the 3rd and last job ever with Empire Today. The salesman have no idea what products are supposed to do or what the requirements are for installing. We will move appliances but only if xxx made in last 20 days. I can't say enough about the great experience I have had with Empire Today Carpet. I used the website with ease to schedule an appointment, and from my meeting with the carpet sales rep through receiving my Certificate of Completion for my carpet installation I have been more than satisfied every step of the way. My sales rep was informative, knowledgeable, and helpful. My experience choosing my carpet and padding was relaxed and pleasurable. I feel my pricing was good and I didn't have to worry about adding on "extra" services, as everything was included in the price given to me - EVERYTHING. My installation was scheduled at my convenience and the step-by-step process went exactly as I was told it would by my sales rep and in my contract. As far as my installers, they arrived as promised within the time frame I was given so I was able to plan my day. They confirmed my work order, product, and the installation before beginning. They were courteous and professional. We discussed the furniture that had to be moved and they began a flawless and expert carpet installation job. I had my living room, dining room, and hallway carpet installed and they worked quickly and efficiently. When the installation was complete they vacuumed all areas and replaced all the furniture exactly as it needed to be. The overall installation was beautifully done, my seams are undetectable, and they did not leave behind any debris or materials from the job. They exhibited pride in their work and maintained a courteous and professional manner the entire time they were in my home. I received my Certificate of Completion, which included the website information for my warranty on labor and materials, as well as a wealth of information on how to maintain and care for my new carpet. CROOKS!!! My experience with them has been a nightmare from start to finish. Their salesman was as unethical as they come. First he tried overcharging me. I knew this because I was referred by someone and wanted an identical purchase. Second he lied to me about the grout getting sealed. It was discolored after 2 months. This they did come out and fix after numerous complaints. Their installer showed up with out his crew and all of the materials so I had to take an additional day off of work to get it done. Now 18 months later and the tile is already cracking and they could care less. They are obviously using subpar materials because porcelain tile shouldn't be cracking that soon. We paid 8k and had a nice complete, undamaged looking floor for 12 months. Comments made on their Facebook page get immediately deleted. Save your money!! read more

Used automated system to schedule appointment. Scheduled for the 11-1 pm block. At 11:30 got phone call saying driver left because no one answered door after ten minutes. The driver was not in our driveway or in the street in front if our house. We went outside looking for sales Rep and there wasn't any vehicle from Empire Today on our street. Called customer service and they had no apology and wanted to reschedule. Told them don't bother. Carpet companies are a dime a dozen. They apparently didn't want and won't get my business. read more

That my experience and in my opinion, you should void Empire Flooring at all cost. The salesman was knowledgeable and polite but that's where it ended. Besides, it's his job to be polite. I had so many problems with this vinyl and carpet installation. It took four trips and another contractor charging me several hundred dollars to fix what they would not complete. Both the salesman and the installer, prior to the installation, promised there would be no issues with a specific installation issue that I identified. Upon arrival I discussed the installation issue with the installers, and they agreed it would be no problem for them. Then, the installers began their work and asked me to come back in a few hours. I reminded them of the specific installation issue. They again agree that it will all be completed as we discussed. When I returned a few hours later, the installers acted like they had no idea what I was talking about and refused to complete the installation as we had discussed. They left me unable to use the back door of my house. The installers just looked at me and said oh well call the company back and they'll send someone out to fix it. When I called about the problem they agreed to send someone out to fix it. Empire sent the exact same installers, who again refused to complete the work. I again called Empire and discussed the issue with Empire customer service and they agreed that something needs to be done, but it would take the area managers approval. I then spoke with the area manager for the North Carolina region. She is a horrible person and would not take care of the issue in spite of the fact that her own customer service team agreed the empire needed to correct the issue. I would have never purchased the flooring from Empire if I knew they were going to do this to me. I can't believe that even though the salesman and the installers both agreed that the installation could be completed as discussed and agreed upon, Empire Flooring refused to honor the contract and complete the installation. Empire refused to accept any responsibility and did not care at all. It was not until I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau that I had any offer to correct the situation, however insufficient. I've never been treated so poorly. I understand that they deal with hundreds of customers, but I was shocked to see their " couldn't give a crap about you" attitude. read more

Would NOT recommend this business!! Continual, consistent bad service regarding a carpet install for my bonus room. Was assured by sales person that pet accidents were covered (we had a new puppy so I asked several times!) and when the stain did not come out, I contacted the Resolution Team for direction. Multiple calls with lack of follow up and inconsistent communication on warranty protection has gone on for months! First response was that it wasn't covered because we hadn't gotten it cleaned annually per the warranty - we did have it cleaned annually but they never asked for those receipts so I didn't send them originally. Once that was settled, the next issue was a timing concern. We resolved that and now they are saying pet accidents aren't covered (after saying several times prior to this that they were). Would not recommend this business for carpet - prices are comparable elsewhere (or they price match) and they don't stand behind their warranty. read more

This company is horrible. Gave a deposit last week. People showed up this morning. I paid for the rest of the job as I was told I had to pay for the flooring up front. Then, the contractor decides that they can't install the flooring because one section of the hallway is not level (Please note this was discussed with sales person who said no problem) I talk to the business office, and I'm out my money for 7 - 10 business days. This company is so segmented that no one knows what anyone else is doing. They are master scammers. They will have had my money for 2 - 3 weeks to collect interest. First off let me start by saying, the installation team was awesome! They arrived within the time frame given. They respected our wishes for wearing a mask. They explained any details that needed to be explained concerning the work. The issue for us was Empire Today's customer service! We, (my husband and I) had to clarify a question that came up regarding a floor leveling issue just prior to installation while the installers were in our home. We called and spoke with an individual whose name I will not expose. This young lady constantly spoke over us, she went so far as tell my husband "he was being knit picking". I must say, in all my years of dealing with people in Customer Service, I've never encountered someone so boldly rude. We were trying to have a simple conversation but we realized that was impossible with this individual. Simply put, as wondetail as the installers were, because of this one individual in Empire Today's customer service, we will never do business with this company again. I have researched to find the CEO of the company and I intend to relay this information to him for it is my hope that as long as Empire Today has been doing business, this type of service is not reflective of the company and truly would be frowned upon. read more

Buyer beware: WE had an installation of flooring two days before Thanksgiving. We had our foyer, dining room, Den and Kitchen refloored. After two long days they were finished. It has taken me almost 2 weeks to put my house back in order. I was told by the salesman that all I needed to do was make sure my electronics were unplugged and to move my china out of my dining room hutch. that was all. I have over 63 photos of the mess and two doors that are broken, a floor outlet that no longer is attached to the floor and dust is all over my downstairs. It would not have taken them anytime to close off the areas that had to be sanded to keep the mess confined but they didn't. They did put up a few pieces of plastic in the kitchen after my sons girlfriend went downstairs and complained about the dust/sanding ??? that was now all over my food, my counter appliances and somehow all in the cabinets that had the doors closed also! So, I called customer service to complain. I was given a # for reference and waited a week for someone to call and discuss the problems in detail. No CALL came. I called them back and was told the cs person had tried to call me 2 times and did not get anyone to pick up. My husband checked his phone there was no missed calls or messages from Empire at all. I left my number and a message for the cs rep to call me today. Guess what? no call. I called the 800 # and was told the guy had left for the day at 3pm??? and no one else could help me! I was then told they left a message for him to call me tomorrow 1st thing. I asked for his name and they told me I could not have it nor tell me what time he would arrive for work the next day!?! Still waiting on someone to call me. Definitely disappointed that I did not check their reviews first because I would not have given them my business. This place is a RIP off quoted like 5500 for the work,paid 3050.00 cash and financed like 2500,they said payment would be 100.00 a month,got 1st bill an was 140.00,so I figured oh well it be paid off quicker,so I paid it and paid it 10 days early,then I get 2nd bill and they had added another 465.00 to our account which raised bill to 166.00 a month,so now its 66.00 more a month than quoted,so we called an they said they was other charges they had to add,which is bull shit ,they should not be able to add charges after the bill was created and no more services were recieved so now I have a 66.00 more a month to pay,and when ur on disability an have a fixed income it's not the easiest thing to do,they didnt do that great of a job and they lie to get the sale,bunch of crooks that should be locked up,I wouldnt recomend them to floor a dog house!!!!!! I called and scheduled to have a salesperson come by our house and took off from my work to meet them. Ten minutes after they were supposed to have arrived I received a call from Empire saying that no one would be coming over and that they would call back later that night to reschedule for the next day. No one called me back. The next morning I spoke with a supervisor who apologized and assured me that a salesperson would indeed be at my home tonight between 5-7pm. He never returned my calls neither. They have a salesman Houston Menser that don't know the product that he sells. He sold us something that was not available for my stairs. Found this out when they came and put down my floors. So it's been 2 weeks job is still not done. The installers did sloppy work and left my baseboards unfinished. 2 weeks and not done for job that was suppose to take just 2 days. They say they try to make the customers happy but it's a lie. Do not use this company!! They hide behind the length of time they've been in existence and the quality of their products, failing to tell you what a pain it will be to do business with them. We invited them to our home for an estimate as a result of water damage and an associated insurance claim. We didn't want to have our floors redone, we had no choice. The guy that came was nice enough but things got sketchy. After the final numbers (yes they change as you stand there) I was asked to sign pages of a contract. I told him I was not comfortable with that as we were just collecting estimates. He assured me it wasn't a problem and that the contract was simply how they held estimates in their system so prices didn't change once they left. I mentioned on more than one occasion that I needed assurance there would be no issues in cancelling should we decide not to move forward and I was given that assurance. Two days later we contacted the sales person to cancel. He said no problem and that was that. Next I know I'm getting emails every day confirming our install date. I reach out again to the sales person with no response. More emails and then a call to confirm! I finally had it and call to cancel. I am transferred to another department where I am met with a person telling me before they cancel they want to see if they can keep my business. I inform him I am standing at the doctors office checking in, that I have already requested the cancellation multiple times, I do not want to do business with them and want to cancel. He REFUSES! He tells me it's not as easy as pushing a button and he has to see if they can meet the quote we've been given by the company we've selected. He then starts with the 60-years in business etc etc. I tell him again, as politely as I can, that I don't want to discuss this, I want it cancelled, now. He again refuses saying it's an investment and I need to make sure I've chosen the right company. That's not their business. I'm telling you to cancel, you cancel. This goes on until I am taken to see my doctor at which point he again refuses to cancel and tells me he'll call back in an hour. I simply cannot believe what a horrible experience I've had and I didn't even get to actually using this company. Now, I never will. I will also be sure to share my experience with the 300 other homeowners in our neighborhood via our community forum, as well as share reviews wherever possible, in order to hopefully prevent someone making the same mistake I did. read more

Be careful using this company. I called for an appointment to have measurements and a quote on carpeting. I was left quite a few samples of carpet to decide which color would work best (not swatches, but sales guy's sample board). The sales guy said in order to get a free quote and guarantee the installation date that I wanted (which was 4 weeks out) I would have to sign all this paperwork. Don't do it. You don't have to sign paperwork, which is the contract, in order to get a free quote. It turns out none of the colors worked for me and I had to take time to call the 800 number to make sure nobody showed up on the install day. The first time I called to cancel the guy gave me another number to call, which turned out to be a nonworking number. The second time I called to cancel they transferred me to the cancellation department. I had to explain once more that none of the colors worked and I dont want installers showing up. He said I am now cancelled. I asked for a cancellation number and surprisingly he gave me one. When I said thank you he said nothing and just hung up. Also the poor sales guy had to leave me his swatch boards on Saturday morning and then come back Sunday evening to pick them up because he did not have actual carpet swatches to leave me, so he left his carpet board with me since he did not work weekends. If you decide to get a quote don"t sign anything. I'm surprised they are still in business with these tactics. read more

I had my carpet installed by empire June 2017. In December 2018, I contacted them about the carpet wearing out to the point you can see the blue pad underneath. They said the warranty is expired already. I have to deal with the manufacturer now. Empire charges $100 to send the information to Shaw the carpet manufacturer. Shaw will not allow the customer to send the required information even though Empire charges $100 to do it. There are no guarantees the carpet can even be repaired. I've had carpet in my house for almost 7 years upstairs and had have zero problems with it. But the carpet downstairs that was purchased a little over a year ago is wearing out already. I have to pay $100 to start the claims process with Empire. And if Shaw decides to replace, they only pay the cost of carpet NOT the labor! Before doing business with Empire, I thought carpet warranties were unnecessary because nothing ever goes wrong with carpet. In this case, the warranty is built into the cost of the product and it's useless because I still have to pay for the claims and the labor and possibly even the entire carpet to be replaced. This is NOT good business. Nobody is standing behind their work and the customer has to foot the bill even though the carpet is only a little over 1 yr old. I highly DO NOT recommend Empire or Shaw for that matter!!!!! read more

I too have had a horrible experience with Empire today!! The salesman Matthew told me that the staircase I had would have no issues with laying hardwoods down, so I chose the LVP & white risers; Installation was scheduled a couple days later; They showed up and the install told me that the one riser was measured incorrectly & the riser he has is too short; So I get on the phone, given the old "opps sorry" & they ensured that they would order the right white 48" riser and the stairs would be installed the next day. They show back up the next day and they ripped the carpet off the stairs & hallway, & the installer says he has to go pick up the riser from their warehouse, then he calls me a little while later to tell me that they delivered the wrong colored rise - it's not white but cherry!!! After all of that then the installer tells me that he cannot install the LVP because of the lip siding on that goes up the stairs b/c the white riser is too thick, then he cannot even install the LVP as a riser now b/c hell' have more issues - OMG REALLY - I chose Empire Today b/c I thought I would have a experienced professional outfit installing my stairs & I paid a lot of $$$ for this - I would really caution you to do any business with this unprofessional, incompetent business. They hold you to unrealistic standards outlined in a contract that contradicts itself in the verbiage......I'm not sure how the BBB gave this joke of company an A+ rating & I think THAT should be investigated!!!! I have dealt with many contractors & I have to say this was the WORST experience I ever had. Now I am at the mercy of Carlos and god knows who else to call me back to see what the "next steps are" - no pun.... read more

DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER THIS COMPANY! They were scheduled to install my carpet on Friday, May 28th and showed up moved my furniture, ripped out the old carpet, and THEN realized that they didn't bring enough carpet for the install! The crew left with all of my furniture stacked in my kitchen and assured me that they would be back on Saturday, May 29th to complete the job with enough carpet this time. Well, Saturday morning comes around and Brandon the Warehouse Manager calls to inform me that he doesn't have the carpet that I've purchased in stock and it would not arrive until the next week. Granted this is Labor Day weekend, and I've been planning a huge party on Sunday, May 30th for over a month, which I now had to cancel. Brandon assured me that they would take good care of me and that of course a large discount would be applied for my inconvenience and having to deal with having my house torn apart for the next 7 days. They did finally install my new carpeting on June 3, and everything went well. However, Brandon nor my sales person ever called back to check on anything, and of course the credit card statement arrived without nary a discount. It was nice how you have to pay them upfront as soon as they arrive at your door, but are reticent to make remittance for their inconvenience. I had to contact their general number (because Brandon never returned any of my phone calls) and plead my case. Guess how much of "Huge" discount I received for my trouble?? Yes, a whopping $50.00 for all of my trouble! Thanks Empire for the 5% discount! I had Empire come out and measure my floors. Empire is priced high, but I was approved with financing and didn't want to run my credit again, so I stuck with them. I was also told I would have my floor down before Christmas, another reason I stayed with empire. I took my day off of work so I could have someone come out on the 21st. No One EVER showed up nor called me to inform me they were NOT coming. THEN the customer service was TERRIBLE and I basically should not be upset that I took off an entire day from work to have my floors not installed. Instead of actually communicating with me to inform me my installer was not at work, I was told I shouldn't even be on their schedule, that I was squeezed in. Again, not my fault, you need to communicate that with the people that come out and do the scheduling to install. Empire has done NOTHING to fix this situation, EXCEPT give me excuse after excuse. Do NOT use this company. Go to the Flooring Pros. They will beat Empire price and install their floors quick and offer warranty's. read more

Stay away from Empire Today! Well that is if you don't want to be lied to over and over. Short version of my experience is first my installer delayed me all day then didnt end up coming at all. Had to wait one more full day then had new installer come but the old installer still showed up. Asked for some sort of refund for my troubles was told I would get 100 bucks which wasnt that great. Oh yeah and I had to call them to set that up. They call back offering me 70 additional dollars and I was good with that. Still not quite what I wanted but I settled for it. Past the 5 days they said I would get it I get a check for 70 bucks. I call asking about the rest of it and they tell someon wil call me by the end of the day. Guess what they dont. I call the next day and I'm told the same thing except they say by the end of tomorrow. No one calls for the next two days. I call back on the Friday and the local office has attitude and tells me my check should be on the way. guess what no check for the next 4 days. I write bad review on their website and they call me same day leave message saying that now they have checked with finance and the check will be mailed out tomorrow because they only cut checks on certain days. NIce lie. So I received the 2nd check before the 1st check. They lie to me without checking on it and then call me back once I tell them about themselves. From the general manager to the main customer sevice person in Charlotte, they are quite full of it and are not to be trusted. They have been playing with my money and my time. We bought flooring through them for our kitchen, dinning and laundry room in 2012 with a 'lifetime' warranty. We are on a slab foundation and asked the salesman prior to purchasing if we needed to repair some low spots in the floor. He assured us that if anything needed to be done then the installer would handle it for us at the time of installation. The installer told us it was not needed but that if we had any issues in the future that it would be covered under the warranty. Here we are...4 years later...with flooring issues in those spots. We contacted Empire Today (this process took over a month because no one would ever call us back) and they said they could not do anything because it is the sub-floor and not a defect in the actual flooring we purchased. They said they only warranty the installation for a year. Their "solution" was to charge us $1500 more dollars to come in and replace the flooring. They said this was a deal. It is a deal....for them. We were also told by the salesman that the floor would be repaired at no cost to us if we were to damage it by dropping a heavy pot or something on it...this too was a lie. Do NOT trust what their salesmen say. The only thing covered under the warranty is actual defect in the product. They do not stand behind the installation of those products and will give you false promises during the sale. I recommend going local. They are usually smaller operations that care about they work they do and want your business again. There is nothing more we can do to resolve the issue, but i hope this review will keep someone else from making the same mistake we did. read more
