The guys who installed it were nice and super polite. Nothing against them. But this company as a whole completely sucks for lack of better words. Let me add that our consultant never showed up, I called to ask what was going on, (time wasted me sitting at home for hours waiting on her) rescheduled for the following day, then she shows up later on while I'm not home and said she called out that morning because of heartburn. He did a great job explaining the difference in products, financing options and the tedious job of color choice. We expressed interest in additional space improvements and he provided broken down quotes for various stages of installation. The installation crew was prompt and installation was very good. Where to begin... We wanted to get our upstairs & staircases redone. Our consultant came off as knowledgeable & helpful at first. We were also planning on replacing the toilet & vanity in one of our bathrooms, & our consultant told us that as long as we had the new vanity & new toilet there and ready to go, the crew would drop them in & install them for us in place of the old ones since they already would have to move them. Once we picked floorings, we were given a start date & were told that the job should only take 2 days. So we tore our house apart putting knickknacks, books, etc (everything except the main furniture) in rooms where the flooring wasn't being replaced, down into the basement, in the crawl space, etc. Our house was a complete mess in some rooms & empty in others. We also had to adjust our schedules so that one of us could be there while the flooring was being put in. 20 MINUTES before the crew was supposed to arrive, I received a call & was told that they would have to reschedule because "the flooring didn't end up making it onto the truck." I was pissed at the lack of communication on their end, but was told that they should be able to start by the end of the week at the latest. At the end of the week, we are told that it is on back order & that they won't be able to start for 2 more weeks. During this time, it was very hard to get ahold of someone to try & get this moved up or resolved, all while our house is torn apart. I mean, what are we going to do, put everything back & then break it all down again? We ended up having to wait 2 weeks, even though we were eventually promised that they could get the flooring in a little sooner. (this company has no idea what is going on their trucks, I honestly believe that warehouse & sales don't communicate at all.) A crew comes over to do our master bathroom because the specific flooring we wanted in it was not on back order. They show up in a sketchy looking unmarked van (they outsource ALL of their work.) We are told that they cannot start until we pay for the entire job, (company policy, I get it). So we pay for the whole job. The crew does a SUPER sloppy caulk job around our toilet, doesn't cut the new toilet screws down (we still have exposed screws on our toilet), & does a horrible job of cleaning up. After another week, we are FINALLY are told that our main flooring came in & that the crew was on the way. The only issue is; THEY WAITED UNTIL THE MORNING OF TO TELL US. So we frantically moved our schedules around AGAIN to accommodate. The second crew that showed up to do the kitchen, family room, studio, bathroom, hallways, stairs, landings, etc. sure enough runs into other issues. They, not only, cannot replace the old toilet with the new one OR put in the new vanity, THEY CAN'T EVEN TAKE OUT OUR ORIGINAL VANITY TO DO THE FLOORING UNDER IT. The crew told us that they never really have to do these things on the job. Bottom line: our consultant straight up lied to us to get the sale. Thankfully we have a plumber friend who came over & saved the day. He ended up doing all of the work that we were promised by Empire for us. If we didn't have this friend, we would have had to wait LONGER for them to do that bathroom until we paid someone else to do it for them. THEN, we are told that they didn't order enough wood for the stairs (even though everything was measured by our consultant), so we had to wait another 5 days for them to do the stairs. Before they do the stairs, I get a call from their office asking if I'm satisfied with the job and telling me that they're thankful that they could complete it for us. 'Y'all DIDN'T complete the job. You still haven't done the two staircases or the landings.' "OHH. I'll get someone to look into that." I'm genuinely convinced that no one in this company actually communicates. I don't think there is any possible way that this company could be less organized. I'm impressed that a company this unorganized is still in business. Our consultant had also told us that if we have ANY issue to give him a call. Once the first thing went wrong, he ghosted us. We never heard anything from this guy. Bottom line: This company is extremely disorganized & dishonest. What was supposed to be a 2 day job turned into a 2-3 month long nightmare. I would recommend going to any other company, unless you enjoy running into problems at every turn & being lied to. UPDATE: They messed up the stairs. Glue is EVERYWHERE. These stairs couldn't even support someone's weight. Didn't form them to the stairs; there are huge air pockets where the stairs round off. Would definitely come off within a week of people walking on them. UPDATE 2: They had to redo the stairs 4 TIMES (4 different crews) before they were usable. Don't ever hire this company. The sloppiest work I've ever seen on top of the horrible experience of dealing with them. They don't deserve a single star. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! We purchased flooring and carpets to get installed. A week before the install date, they started calling daily to confirm. My husband took the day off of work and started breaking down furniture. He gets a TEXT message that the carpet people weren't coming and that just the flooring is getting done. So now we have half our floors ripped up and getting replaced and not the other half until they show up. The flooring guys never even received instructions to what was even being done to our house. So it has taken the flooring guys 5 hours thus far to install a fraction of what needs to be done and they are still working. Called multiple times to the main store, the local store, and our sales rep and have gotten no response. the crew (and Empire Today) had no concern for the care of my house. Baseboards are beat and scarred throughout the house, at least one door frame was busted and the door will not shut. Window blinds were broken. Empire is just a middle man. They do not make the floor (Mohawk) nor do the work, it's contracted out, but that is common today. They gave the highest quote initially but they beat my lowest quote by a small bit after telling them about it. After a local carpet guy gave us the run around I reached out to Empire for an in home consultation. The sales rep arrived right after the start of the appointment window and presented me with a variety of options. I had asked about getting the quote emailed and I guess it doesn't work like that, they want you to purchase immediately so we went ahead and purchased. I was upfront and told her they had horrible reviews on Google and Yelp and she assured me local management was restructured this past year and many of the past customer issues had subsided. Our initial install date was 5 days later and I received a call it had to be postponed a day or so and I ended up holding off until later in the week. On the install day we hadn't received a call from the installer (the contract said they would call the morning of and the install appointment would fall between 8am-6pm) so I called around 9:30am and customer service informed me the installer would be in touch. Within the hour the installer was at our house. The overall installation took about 3 hours, they were professional and I feel the price we paid was fair ($1400 for about 400 square feet of carpet in our living room). I was hesitant to use Empire Today in Nashville due to the negative reviews. I purchased the flooring on Monday, and the installation took place that Thursday and Friday. The price was a bit on the high side (thanks, inflation), but it was on par with the bids I received from local companies. The speed and quality with which they were able to install the floors was unmatched by the other companies. The one year 0% financing sealed the deal. They will call you back in several days with a lower offer. Buying flooring can be challenging but take your time and do your research. If I could give negative 100 stars I would!! This is the most ridiculously ran and unprofessional company there could ever be. The consultation was good of course because they have you sign your life away and promise then thousands of dollars for this amazing carpet you want to better your home but once installation day comes, they dangle you around like something silly. My first installation was scheduled with PLENTY time IN ADVANCE, Dec 2nd. I had a window from 8am-5pm. Around 1030am I still had heard nothing from customer service nor the instal guys.... I finally called them... I spoke with a lady named Summer she told me that she seen my appointment and would look for an ETA on the installers. Apparently within a few moments I was speaking to another woman who stated "she had been trying to contact me" righhhhhht....... then she follows with "I'm so sorry but there won't be an installation today" - I kept calm because sometimes things happen. I asked her why I'm just being told this 1. When I had to call YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPT & 2. The day of installation. She apologized and said if I wanted to talk to the manager. I said sure and gathered his name and info. I called the instal manager Paul Graham - he was a nice man but his excuses were all over the place. He led with, they are just so busy, there wasn't enough time in the day. I then said they should have never scheduled me if y'all were so "full" that is unacceptable. He then apologized again and said they don't have my carpet BUT then have one of them. WELL WHAT IS THE ACTUAL EXCUSE?!?!? Because I'm confused & annoyed at this point. I spoke to both him and his manager Frank and informed them that I wanted to cancel my installation, they apologized and tried everything in their power to keep me as a customer. RUN as fast as you can away from this company. Back in May/June I had waterproof laminate installed in my downstairs rooms. Very expensive, but I did love the floors when they were finished. At face value everything looked good. A couple of weeks later I had to have my washing machine worked on and when the repair man pulled out the machine, we saw that they must have run out of trim in my color and put a totally different color in the laundry room behind the machines. That's the best news. The job was completed on 6/1/21. Somewhere around the end of July as I walked across my kitchen floor my sox would get wet. Water was oozing up between the planks. When we pulled out the refrigerator, water shot everywhere. Their crew had caught the tubing for my ice maker under the back wheel of the refrigerator and it slowly leaked for almost 2 months. I called my insurance company and a restoration company to get the water up. The have removed 3 rooms of my brand new flooring and I will have to have all new subfloors put in along with gutting my kitchen since all my cabinets are now rotted. When they removed all my flooring they realized that the crew from Empire had glued down the floor in quite a lot of places. These are floating floors, no glue is supped to be used. I called my salesman from Empire, Patrick Bain told him of the problem. As a typical salesman does he said he would call his company, open a claim and get me a name of someone attached to my case. That was 6 weeks ago and I've not heard a word from him, nor will he answer my calls. I've tried reaching him many many times and I just go to voice mail. On the original date the installers showed up without enough crew and the head installer did not have a mask and got angry when I said he needed one. The other guy with him had a mask on. I was told by the manager that masks are required and they are provided to the crew. They left and did not come back. Job rescheduled and they came back with extra crew but changed their story twice and left again. Reschedule for a third trip with a new crew and that crew showed up and it was snowing and wet so the job couldn't be done that day which is understandable. Rescheduled for a few days later when the weather was better but the day before the third rescheduled date, Empire called and canceled and said they were not going to do the job. No reason given. Order totally canceled. In talking with someone who used to work for Empire and others who used them and had problems, I understand I dodged a bullet. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. We had empire come out give us a quote for about 13,000 to redo our main level floors- not tear anything up. We had them install it and in the kitchen they 1) laid over tile. They said they would put this concrete stuff down to make it level and even. (We didn't know any better.) The floors were SO uneven. They also left holes in my dry wall, didn't fill in where they put the quarter rounds down. 2) they left my toilet uninstalled correctly- they guy left so much glue I guess is what you would call it and just set the cap on it hoping it would stick. Well the screws came up too high that it didn't and my 2 year old found it played with it and was sticky for days. I called they had a manager come out agreed the floors needed to be redone. Covid happened and 4 months later they came back out. This time they removed the tile but didn't level out where the tile was. They ruined my baseboards the door frames are a good 2 inches LOWER than the floor. I'm so ashamed of our house in its current condition. I've tried to get in touch with a manger 3 times (the first time to complain) and he never called me back. Not to mention they cracked the siding on my island and didn't connect the quarter rounds back together I beg you DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!! I was very dissatisfied with this company. I had floors installed in my bedroom, bonus room, and bathroom on 9/24/2021. Needless to say, the workers unplugged my deep freezer and did not plug it back in before leaving. They did not put my toilet back and it has now been 4 days of my toilet sitting in the bathtub. I showed them places around the floor that were not completely covered in the vanity area and they just added 1/4 round to cover it and would not take it up and fix the floor. I have been calling Merrill Flooring (the contracted company) and Empire since open of business on Monday with no response! They are unprofessional and did not do a good job at all! Every floor buckled. Sent a man to redo floors. They were never glued down and never laid wood in living room before vinyl. sent another man out and they laid new floor on top of old floor and had to come back and lay wood down before putting new floor down. Still buckling after over a year. The man says the spot did not get stapled right and sent a man to re staple and now says they ran out of staples and that is why it is coming up again. Alex, the salesperson was great, but everything went downhill from there. The floor came apart within two weeks (and it's getting worse). Contacted Empire about the problem, and the people who originally installed the floor showed up unannounced for a repair, With the help of a telephone translator app, I let them know that I didn't have a couple of hours at that time for them to fix it. Contacted Empire again, and another person came, checked it out, and made an appointment to come back and replace the floor. She said that any other remedy would have the same result. I took a day off work to meet her today, and even got a recorded reminder from Empire this morning. But guess what? Nobody showed up. I called three times to confirm this appointment. The local Nashville number for Empire is 866-588-2380 (press #2 for Stephanie in customer service), but no one has ever answered that number, even when the people at the 800 number for Empire tried to reach them. I have had Empire Today do work several times at my house and the wood floors they installed look great; but when they mess up, it gets real messy. I had some wood floors installed on the 9th of June and was scheduled to have bathroom tile installed the next day on the 10th. The floor had recently been tiled, but seemed to be cracking. I suspected that maybe the floor had a dip or bend and questioned the installer about whether he could properly tile it and he assured me that he could. After about five hours he had to leave and go to another job, but he said that he would be back in a few hours. He called later and said that he could not make it, but asked if 6:30 the next morning would work. This was far too early, so we agreed on 2:00. My wife and I sat around waiting for him and I finally called Empire around 4:00. They could not get in touch with the installer so I had to wait until Monday before I could talk to anyone. My bathroom was unusable the whole time as the tile was not finished and my toilet was in my shower. Someone called me about 10:00 AM on Monday. My installer had been fired and nothing further could be done for me on Monday. Tuesday, I had a doctor's appointment, but Empire made it to my house Wednesday the 15th. I showed him how the tile looked crooked and after he pulled up some of the tile told me that the subfloor had some bounce and tile would not work...which I had specifically asked the first installer about. So, I had him remove all the tile which left the bathroom with just the subfloor and toilet still in the shower...so still unusable. On Thursday, the 16th I had the salesman back out and price me for the vinyl installation. They agreed to do it for the same price as the tile, for which I had already paid in full. My appointment was made for Saturday the 18th, so I was over a week unable to use my bathroom. On Saturday, the installer got the vinyl floor put in and I was checking it out but thought the toilet was not set right. I told him it was loose and he said that it just needed to settle on the wax seal (which sounded funny to me). I figured that I would tighten the bolts myself and just wanted the installers gone, so I signed off on the paperwork. Almost immediately after they left, I noticed two plastic washers from the toilet had been left on my sink. I got my socket and was attempting to tighten the two bolts holding the toilet to the floor when I noticed the bolts were just too small. I called the installer back and he assured me that he had put the washers on (which he had not) and that the bolts were fine and just needed to be tightened. I went back and looked and showed my wife that the toilet would lift off the floor or fall over, since the bolts were the wrong size. I called the technician back and said that he needed to properly install my toilet and after a bit of back and forth he said he would come back in the morning. I talked with my wife though and we both figured that in the morning the installer would not be any more competent at his job, so I called a plumber and left a voice mail (as he was not answering now) for the installer to not come back. The plumber showed up on Sunday, so besides the normal pricey plumber rates we got charged a special Sunday rate. Besides the obvious problem of the toilet not being seated properly, the plumber told me that the Empire Today technician had installed a new wax seal while leaving the old one on. The two seals had almost clogged the toilet only leaving about half an inch of clearance. If the toilet had been flushed with anything more than water, it would have backed up. I called Empire Today on the 20th of June to file a complaint. I had not heard back from them by the next day, so I called again. It seems that they had called back on the 19th, but they called while I was out mowing and did not leave a message for me to call them back. Nobody even attempted to call me on the 21st, even though I called the help line again. They have shown an unwillingness or inability to even talk with me through this whole process. The big problem is that Empire Today hires subcontractors, some of which are great, while others should not be allowed to be working unsupervised in the homes of customers. They also do not seem to have an effective way of dealing with problems when they happen. I have spent more time writing this complaint than anyone at Empire Today (besides help desk people) has talked with me about the problems, but what I understand from the help desk is that they are sorry...they are sorry every time something happens. This is my first and last experience with Empire Today (ET) in Nashville TN. They cancelled my confirmed scheduled installations FOUR times and twice asked me to accept carpet I didn't order (the second time the carpet was correctly marked "Gameday" but it was a white carpet and I ordered a dark brown carpet). Obviously someone was trying to pass off the incorrect carpet as the one I ordered. 08/16 - Purchased carpet. 09/26 - Rec'd email confirming 9/27 installation date but they called that morning to reschedule because an installer was unavailable! After several calls and no return phone calls, I got through to someone who transferred me to the Nashville office. She said it would take a week to reschedule. I demanded a $100 discount for the inconvenience of having to stay in TN another week (I live in L. A.) New installation date was to be 10/04. 10/03 - Again rec'd email confirming 10/04 inst. date. ET called morning of installation and said they had to reschedule because the wrong carpet came in! How does this happen! I called the Nashville office and talked to the installation manager. He said the carpet comes from Atlanta to Nashville and he would call to ensure the right carpet came in. New install date 10/07. 10/06 - Again rec'd email confirming 10/07 inst. date. Morning of installation they called to tell me they had received a light brown carpet and asked if I would accept it. Due to the heavy foot traffic in the room I declined and insisted they install the carpet I ordered. I asked for an additional $100 discount and I was told it would be approved and the installation date would now be 10/08. My numerous complaints were referred to Corporate. 10/08 - Installers arrived; carpet was on the truck was correctly marked "Gameday" - the carpet I ordered - but it was a white carpet! Why would I order a white carpet for an entry room that receives a lot of heavy foot traffic. The installer called the installation manager. I also talked to him but because it was a Saturday, he said there was little they could do. He said he would call Atlanta on Monday and scheduled a new installation date 10/11. 10/11 - The correct carpet was finally installed. During the latter part of these fiascos, I was in communication with Corporate. In compensation for the inconvenience, I requested a 30% discount. My understanding was that it would take 8 to 10 business days but this day passed without compensation. 10/26 - I called billing and I was put on a long hold. Who should come on the line but the guy in Corporate!. Apparently the reimbursement had not been requested. I was told it would be today. 11/2 - Called ET and selected prompt 3 (Billing). I was told by the woman who answered they don't have a billing department! After explaining why I was calling, and after being placed on a very long hold, she said it had only been processed day before yesterday. I suggest you ignore theTV commercials and go to a carpet company, Lowes or Home Depot for your flooring needs. read more

I was very disappointed with this company. Very difficult to work with. I rather go to Home Depot who was much more helpful then Empire.
