The poached shrimp dish ( name escapes me) comes in flavorful and nice tasting broth accompanied by great bread, BUR there were only 4 shrimp for over $20 - definitely not worth it. The tostada with roe wasn't bad, but it was unremarkable. Lastly the hanger steak was waaaayyyyyyy too salty and that alone cancelled out the pretty good, but meager, side veggies and minuscule teaspoon of polenta. It is an 'experience' to enter the restaurant through the faux pawn shop... You DO need to bring something to "pawn/leave" and that was fun and kinda funky but overall I wouldn't go back again, no do I think I can recommend it to others based on our experience. They have really great coffee, I remember reading it was Mojo coffee from New Orleans (so maybe we do have a Tandem in NOLA afterall). The place is fun too, they have all kinds of board games and plenty of seating. It is a large quaint house-like establishment and has some outdoor seats as well. The place was really clean and the staff were all accommodating and friendly. One was so sorry they had just run out of the Dubai flavoring for the coffee, but it was ok. They have quite a few flavors to choose from. They also serve a full breakfast here. The customers range from all ages and from families to singles. This little gem is doing everything right!

The iced coffee is bold yet smooth with very little bitterness. if you're a fan of coffee the way god intended (black with nothing), you will be happy with their version. If I had to guess I would say that it's cold brewed. There is a decent selection of food items. On my most recent visit I had a croissant sandwich. It was pre-made and microwaved to warm it up, but it was tasty. My daughter had a chocolate muffin which she devoured with the quickness. The "Just OK" This is a small and narrow space with low ceilings. Each time I have been here it seemed as if all, or almost all, of the tables were taken up by folks who weren't leaving anytime soon. I am a big fan of working at a coffee shop, but if you've got whining kids, it is nice to have a place to sit, eat, and then roll out. There is a small parking lot next to the shop. I have never seen it when it wasn't full. There is ample street parking, but the curbs are low and not friendly to low vehicles. The service is hit or miss. My most recent visit was fine, but several others have been downright odd. One time the barista didn't know how to make the sandwich I ordered. I am pretty sure it just gets unwrapped and put in the microwave. Will I be back? I think so. It is a nice alternative to the chains. I just wish I had more tie during the week to stop in.
