I really want to support local shops instead of big box stores, but they never seem to have what I'm looking for, or the prices are outrageous for what they're offering. One of the things I've always loved about shopping local is the knowledge and help the staff can provide. Unfortunately, the last two times I asked for help, I ended up sharing more knowledge with them than they shared with me. That's honestly sad to see. I've loved going to this place over the past couple of years since moving to the area, but I think I may skip it moving forward. I understand this may make me sound like an entitled customer, but I genuinely hope the business sees feedback like this and steps up their game.

We even stopped in to use this as our 'pumpkin patch' for multiple years. They've got a great assortment of plants and in late spring there are herbs and tomatoes and other plants. Then they pivot to summer and then fall flowers and decor and into winter. There is something for everyone! Staff is so friendly. They will stop to answer questions or guide you if you are not sure of what to buy. They may not be readily viewable when you go to check out, but I've never had to wait more than a few minutes for someone to pop up at the register. The parking lot can be busy and it isn't huge, but there is street parking around.

I stopped in shortly after opening and purchased two 9/16" rubber washers for approximately $1. Since I didn't have cash, I used my debit card. The cashier informed me there was a $3 minimum purchase requirement. When I said I did not need anything else, a man I assume was the owner told the cashier to simply add $2 as "labor" to reach the minimum. I found it strange that I was charged an additional $2 for no product or service. Although it was only $2, it was still money taken from my pocket for nothing. After leaving, I recalled that businesses are generally prohibited from imposing minimum purchase requirements on debit card transactions. I called the store to discuss the issue, but the person who answered, whom I believe was the same individual, abruptly hung up. I then returned to the store, where he was waiting near the entrance. When I showed him information regarding the law as it relates to debit card minimums, specifically 15 U.S.C. § 1693o-2 (Durbin Amendment to the Dodd-Frank Act) he responded, "I was the one who hung up on you. I don't care. Have a nice day. Go tell your President." Regardless of the amount involved, what disappointed me most was the attitude and lack of professionalism displayed by the owner. I have always tried to support local businesses, but after this experience, I will not be returning. The $2 isn't the issue. The issue is an owner who apparently believes the rules don't apply to him and treats customers with contempt when they're brought to his attention. I hope the appropriate agencies and card networks share his confidence.

A great mix of antiques, vintage decor, and great gift ideas! The visual displays are on point. You can tell the shop owners plan out every detail and their passion and dedication shine through! Their window displays are just a tiny snap shot of the amazing shop that Yearbook is. In addition, their design services are top notch! If you're lucky, during your visit, you may get to meet the official Yearbook mascot, shop dog Henry Clarence. Henry is currently running for president and has done an amazing job raising money for all the animals at the Oak Park animal shelter. I highly recommend Yearbook! We were assigned to Yearbook first and I was so impressed by everything about the store. From the friendly owner and manager, to the quality of the products and the incredibly reasonable pricing - plus the special discount for that night! I finally got the maple syrup jug (made and bottled just for them) that the husband had wanted and picked up some of their store-exclusive candles (no typical boring scents here!) and a vintage travel case and some wood handled toothbrushes. I've got to go back soon and visit the studio to have some crew-themed pillows, etc. made to bring me back to the days when I actualy rowed. This ACE has repeatedly saved me time and money by suggesting better solutions for home repair. The selection is surprisingly good also and usually has at least a couple of solutions to every home repair problem. Just ask and they will tell you the best solution! On one occasion I had called a professional plumber who declared my kitchen plumbing problem "too hard" with the plumber complaining about the depth of the sink and the relatively high location of the single drain pipe (for three drains). The plumber then slipped out the back, leaving me to solve my own problem. I took a trip to the ACE and the associate at this ACE spent over an hour helping me solve this plumbing problem, with the ACE associate placing more than a dozen plumbing parts on the floor in the proper order... I went home and by the end of the day it was working. On another occasion, I went to this ACE thinking I would buy some WD-40 to loosen rusted screws in order to remove a broken screen door. The ACE associate showed me the WD-40 but then suggested an alternate product "PB Blaster" which I purchased on their recommendation. I returned home and applied the PB Blaster to the rusted screws on the screen door. Several screws were rusted on tight and resisted my efforts to loosen them. The instruction for the PB Blaster advises waiting a few minutes for the Blaster to soak in, so it seemed like a good time to take a lunch break. I returned from lunch to find the rusted screws popped out, and the screen door on the ground. Wow, just wow. So, if there is such a thing as a home repair magician, these guys are it! Highly recommended.

They can match paint colors even from small samples, and the Oak Park location can fill spray cans with your custom color. While the prices are higher than big box stores, the quality and personalized service at JC Licht (or as we know it Paulson's Paint) make it worth every penny. The care and expertise you receive here are unmatched. They have street-metered parking at both entrances, and they will happily load your paint and supplies in your car!
