I wish I could give this place a 3.5 star rating. The barista was so friendly and helpful when I asked questions about the drinks. Drink came out fast. We went on a Sunday morning and it wasn't busy but she looked like she was working alone. The place is clean and the seating indoors/outdoors are soooo cute!! Hot brown sugar + cardamom 4/10: I think the taste and espresso were underwhelming. Tasted more like milk. That being said, I might have just picked a drink that wasn't too popular. Not too sweet which is nice. But again.. just underwhelming flavor. I think the vibes here were cute and I would like to try their drinks again.
I was looking for a coffee shop to do some work and grab a bite. The coffee shop is bright and friendly with some great options! I got the honey saffron latte, an egg and cheese sandwich, a strawberry tea cake. The latte was fantastic and delicious. They used great espresso in the latte, the sandwich and tea cake were delicious! The ambiance is chill and a great place to work. There were a few other people working there. The staff member was quick and kind! She told me that they opened a year ago. It's a great place to work, hang out, and getting some nice drinks!
While attending our BobaPop tea event, Andrew our Community Manager pointed out Empress Coffee & Cocktails, as a place he wanted to check out. I am always on the hunt for a new small business and I walked across the street. What a cute place for cocktails, coffees, and sweets. There were adorable donut or macaron shaped tables and chairs. There were beautiful glassware adorning the walls. There were lots of muffins, cakes, and croissants. They also have some croissant sandwiches that looked good. But, the big shocker is there is a full bar, as well as, a variety of teas and coffees. I bought a pineapple coconut muffin and made a mental note to come back and spend some more time there. Service was good. I was waited on, as soon as I let them know I was ready to make a purchase. The prices fair. It was around $4 for a large muffin. The muffin was moist and flavorful. The coconut was only on the top of the muffin. If you want to meet someone for a cocktail, this is a cute place to go. They also have some outdoor seating as well. Thanks Andrew.
Celebrated my birthday at Empress Coffee & Cocktails with my girls, and it was everything! The food and drinks were incredible -- we tried so many dishes and loved every bite. The Persian pizza (a house favorite) was full of flavor, the soup and grilled cheese combo was pure comfort, and the turkey + havarti sandwich, bacon egg croissant, and margarita pizza were all delicious and perfectly done. The drinks? Just wow. The espresso martini is an absolute yes! We also loved the butterfly margarita, lava-shak martini, and Malibu sunset -- all beautifully crafted and fun to sip. Plus, they offer a nice selection of wines and juices to purchase. Shots were order as well. Had too much fun didn't take pictures of all the food and drinks. The space itself is perfect for a girls' day or night out -- stylish and cozy with beautiful lighting and thoughtful décor. We especially loved the artwork of the girl with the pearl earrings -- such a fun and elegant touch! We were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves, which made the whole evening feel extra special. Huge shoutout to Sam, the owner, who was such a warm and welcoming host. Highly recommend this gem for a celebration or a chill hangout. Can't wait to go back!

I found this place on Yelp, and it is exactly like the pictures -astounding! Also, one of those Instagrammers paradises. There are so many cute places to sit and do work, which when I was there, there were a lot of people sitting there and doing work. The concept is great, they have coffee, smoothies, food, and then a bar. If you want to go there for brunch with your family or friends you can. If you want to grab coffee at the square you can, if you want to grab a pre- or post- workout smoothie you can. If you want to unwind after a long days work you can grab a cocktail. It's a great all-around place. I would highly recommend coming here. The only thing I would say is that if they could be bigger that would be awesome, since when I was there they were pretty packed.
I'd highly recommend trying this spot, if you're in the Kentlands area. I've been a handful of times with my nephew, sister-in-law and brother. It's a cozy coffee shop with stylish branding and comfortable seating, offering a selection of coffee, pastries, and alcoholic beverage. I've tried their mocha with almond milk and almond croissant, both consistently great in texture and flavor. The service is top-tier, making each visit a pleasurable experience.
Went here today for my second visit and enjoyed a nice outdoor catchup with my friend. We both got the bacon egg and cheese croissant and it was as good as I remember last time . I had an iced chai latte. The staff has been so nice both times and they were not rushing me and my friend off as we caught up for a couple of hours. Cute decor as well. My new favorite neighborhood coffee shop.
This is a very cute place with good food and coffee; the biggest issue was the service time. Service was generally friendly but it just took a while to get our fairly basic order. They also don't take names so you just have to be listening for your order and kinda hoping that no one else ordered the same thing. There is a decent amount of seating both indoors and outdoors but I wouldn't bring a large party. For the area, this is some of the best coffee I have had that wasn't from a chain because this area appears to be a coffee desert!
Have been to Empress a few times now! I think the pink and flowery interior won't be something that everyone enjoys, but the food hopefully will be! I've consistently had the turkey croissant sandwich - it's hard to try anything else when that has been so good! I was also recommended to try the pistachio cookie - which is so big and filling it could be its own meal! Its flavor was amazing, and I look forward to trying the peanut butter one next! Service has been fast and friendly, so I hope this place gets to stick around awhile!
Kentlands has a new coffee hangout spot in town! It's locally owned and super cute and I have to say a very refreshing improvement from what was there before. The baked goods have some unique flavors and the chai tea with almond milk was fantastic. The vibe is very "Grandma's house" with the light colored walls and the dishes hanging on the wall, but I have to say it made me feel comfortable. I found out later the nice lady who took our order was actually the owner! Can't wait to come back and try the cocktails.
My sister has been raving about this place for a few weeks and we decided to give it a try today. The shop itself is very cute, definitely somewhere I could see myself sitting and having a cup of coffee. The man behind the counter was super nice and talked to us, as well as gave us a small taste of the soup of the day. It was a super tasty mushroom soup. Me and my sister both got lemon bars and they were perfectly tart and the crust was soft and buttery. Will definitely be back for their lunch special!
Got a to-go order for my family and I. Ambiance is magical- cute and bright! Pastries look delicious. I got the mistletoe mocha, one of 8 of the holiday special latte mix. Friendly counter service. The whole experience was great!

Coffee by Day, Cocktails by Night! Pair with the perfect small plates & flatbreads! We were the first to arrive for the day and perused the delicious looking croissant breakfast sandwiches before ordering a tray of coffees to go! Such a cute spot with a few outdoor tables overlooking a park like view. Inside there is a nice bar top area and cozy nooks. Will definitely come back for small plates and cocktails! We were taking a brief walk in the Kentlands and came across this spot - decided to walk in even though we had just eaten elsewhere. Initially I saw a few comfy seats and cute decor. My friend got one of their seasonal lattes and enjoyed it. I see they serve coffee, lattes, slushies, juice, smoothies, cupcakes, and sandwiches, among other things. While chatting and passing the time, we discovered there is a Happy Hour too. Saw an employee place a placard outside showing the following: Happy Hour Special Any flatbread pizza + any draft beer or wine. Only $15 All beer + wine $6. HH every day. 3pm to 5:30pm Great service. Employees seem friendly. We will be back. Note: Their business hours are expanding starting 4/27/26. read more
Solid coffee spot. Ordered a chocolate chip banana cake slice and a biscoff latte. Both were solid, the cake was moist and chocolatey and the coffee wasn't overly sweet, almost had a chai profile. Pretty nice and cute decor inside. Glad to have checked them out. read more

Needed a place that had coffee and working Wi-Fi. I was able to find this cute little set up via Yelp. Nothing wild just a cute small café that could serve caffeine in a way that I can't do so at home. Tons of parking across the street behind the main buildings. Accessible via bike and/or walking. There were plenty of tables inside and they also had a few set up outside. read more

This coffee shop is so cute and cozy! Perfect spot to get some work done and catch up with friends. I had the matcha latte and the Turkey havarti sandwich and both were amazing. The sandwich blew me away it had turkey, havarti, arugula, pickled onions and chipotle Mayo- the combo is phenomenal. The service was also super quick and the staff was so friendly. I will definitely now be a regular. read more

Cute spot with delicious coffee and pastries and a great vibe! I first stopped by the cafe to pick up some coffee for work and fell in love with the aesthetic. The interior is very cute with a pastel color scheme, dessert-themed decorations and smooth jazz playing. The drinks were great too! My coworkers described the cold brew as chocolatey and rich. More recently, I tried an iced vanilla latte there and it was perfect! I can't wait to try more of their foods and cocktails. read more

Empress is a cute coffee shop with great baked goods each morning and sells alcohol later in the day. These chocolate chip cookies taste better than the 2 gourmet cookie shops at Kentlands. read more
