Laurich Dentistry - My new favorite place and I never thought I would be at ease going to the Dentist!!

My previous dentist apparently retired and sold her business to a partner -- without notifying…read morepatients. I found this out by both driving past the office and that voice/emails had a different name attached. I didn't care for this at all. Also, I no longer live near that dentist, so I decided to look for a new one. I found Laurich Dentistry online and checked the reviews, and decided to try it. First of all, the office is bright and cheery. The waiting room is large and inviting. And the staff all seems happy; I heard a lot of laughing while I was there. The second thing is that, instead of old posters, they actually have TWO televisions in the rooms -- one on the wall and one on the ceiling -- so that you can completely relax during the appointment. I don't get nervous at the dentist, but I found this to be very much a patient-centered idea. Third, they were extremely thorough. They took several different kinds of x-rays and 3D images of my teeth. Both the hygienist (whose name I've forgotten, but I believe it starts with an A -- I want to say Aziza?) and Dr. Matt went over with me what they saw. I've never seen my teeth like that before! One of the things that I really appreciated was that the hygienist realized that I have a small mouth, so rather than making me jam the larger x-ray device in my mouth (which has always been uncomfortable in the past), she found a smaller one. I am so glad that I decided to change dentists. I wish I'd started going here sooner.

When I met Dr. Matt, he of course, was very friendly and professional plus explained in detail exactly what he would be doing and made sure I understand what was going to happen . He always made sure I was comfortable and not in pain. The procedure actually went quite well. I am very happy that I had. Dr. Matt to do the implants and I definitely would recommend him.

I'm sharing this review as a mother who invested thousands of dollars trying to ensure her daughter…read morereceived quality cosmetic dental care--only to be deeply disappointed by the outcome and then contacted by an attorney after voicing our experience. I'm writing this with caution and sincerity, as I believe consumers have the right to honest feedback and transparency, especially when it involves health care. My personal experience with Dr. Kakos and her team was frustrating and disheartening. After my daughter received dental implants, we trusted this office to handle the cosmetic restoration. What followed were multiple appointments filled with color mismatches, design issues, and blame placed on everything except the care provided--from my daughter's gum and tooth structure to previous orthodontic work, and even the implant surgeon's technique. None of these explanations changed the fact that the results simply did not look right. Despite staff repeatedly saying the teeth looked "beautiful," my daughter was left with gray-toned, short crowns that appeared unnatural. The only solutions offered were invasive and unnecessary, in my opinion, such as gum surgery or shaving down healthy teeth to compensate. This left us feeling stuck, pressured, and ultimately misled. Thankfully, we found another provider, Dr. Danyal at Berkley Dental, who corrected the work in under two hours. The difference was immediate and validating. It's important to note that after initially posting my experience, I was contacted by legal counsel representing Dr. Kakos. I was disheartened--but not surprised--that a professional response came in the form of legal threats rather than genuine concern for patient satisfaction. I believe in patients' rights to speak about their care without being silenced or intimidated. So here I am again, stating clearly and respectfully: based on my experience, I would not recommend this practice for advanced or cosmetic procedures. If you're considering more than a routine cleaning, I strongly suggest seeking a second opinion. This review reflects my own experience and opinion and is protected under federal and state consumer rights laws, including the First Amendment and the Consumer Review Fairness Act. I share it not with malice, but with a hope to inform and protect others.

I got a second opinion, and it turned out that I didn't have decay--no decay at all--and that all I needed was a tooth filling to fill in the crack that initially broke off part of the tooth. About one month after the visit, he billed me for an additional amount, after I paid-in-full at the desk before leaving the office, for having one x-ray, and talking with him for less than 5 minutes.

I would have given this business a 5 star review if I was basing it solely on the work performed…read more Dr. Speirs was kind, efficient, and did his job well. I'm giving this a 2 star rating because I continue to be in agonizing pain which is a continued response from dental work that would have best been put on momentary hold. I sought out EA during the COVID-19 crisis. Like millions of other Americans I was laid-off and struggling financially to make ends meet. I was pissed that a tooth emergency for which I had no dental coverage had arisen. I have no doubt the dentist was able to perform a root canal, or two as the case happened to be. There were, however, extenuating circumstances that needed to be considered. I have a cyst in my sinus sitting directly on the root in my back tooth. I had to borrow money from a family member to even pay for the services I received. I stopped Dr. Speirs before he did the second root canal and pointedly asked him if I should wait to see what my ENT recommended before doing the procedure given that my money was extremely limited. Meaning I HAD NONE! THIS WAS IT! AFTER THIS THERE WAS NONE LEFT! I can't recall his exact response, but somehow I ended up having the root canal first and then following up with my ENT. Long story short, my root for the tooth in question ends in the middle of the cyst in my sinus. As long as it's penetrating it in any way I'm going to be in pain. A LOT OF PAIN! My ENT recommended I have the tooth I had just spent my last $1750 on be removed. Boy am I pissed! I tried following up with EA to let them know what is going on, and to express my obvious and legitimate dismay. I have not been rude or irate with them. I just let them know the facts. After a few phone calls, the last of which I was told they would get back to me, crickets! Nada! Nothing! I stopped the dentist! I asked him point blank if we should wait for the ENT to weigh in! I was happy to wait, would have trusted them to hold onto the money they already had, but no. Now I am in need of yet another dental procedure I absolutely have no money for, and EA has failed to respond. If you know exactly what you need, have no extenuating circumstances, or have endless supplies of money at your disposal EA is as good as any endodontist. If not, do your research first, make sure every other thing that could possibly be wrong is ruled out first, and then take the plunge because once their work is complete, whether it helped or not, EA is nowhere to be found!
