This is my go-to park in the area if I want to take my dogs to relax without worrying about seeing so many people or dogs. It's quiet, tucked away, clean, and well-kept. There's a small dirt walking trail in the perimeter of the park with cool rocks and plants to see along the trail and a huge patch of grass. The grass is always so well-kept and there aren't any bugs. A few benches here and there as well for you to sit and relax. There's a lot of trees so you can sit under them on the grass to enjoy some shade! read more

Years ago when I lived in Duarte, I often used Encanto Park as a sort of starting point for my cycling adventures up and down the San Gabriel River. It wasn't until I'd moved away from the area that I started visiting the park and enjoying it simply for what it offered other than a safe-ish place to leave my truck unattended for hours on end. But Encanto park is a quiet little spot just a hop-skip-jump away from the busy 210 and 605 freeways, and the general hustle of the area. The park features tennis courts, a small basketball court, age appropriate play structures, a large athletic field, and a walking path that circumnavigates the whole park, including a seasonal creek area with native plants. With the backdrop of the San Gabriel mountains, this is a pretty park to almost forget that the wall on the north and west borders is short enough to see the backyards of the homes on the other side. Still, this is a great spot. The adjacent San Gabriel River features several "wildish" areas, and Encanto Park still serves as a spot for cyclists to rest, refresh, or park their vehicles. A growing homeless population in the riverbed stays mostly out of the park. Keep an eye on your little ones, and watch out for cars moving a little too quick on the street, which is buffered by the parking area, but still. If you're a Royal Oaks trail walker, this is a good turn around spot to extend your walk past La Loma, just about a mile or so to the west. read more

Encanto Park is located in Duarte and it seems very safe and clean. If you're looking for a great bike path in the San Gabriel Valley, you should definitely start here. There's ample parking, it's in a fairly safe area, and the park is located across the street from an inlet to the San Gabriel Bike Path (at the 35.5 mile marker of the bike path). The San Gabriel Bike Path is straightforward, it's away from traffic, and it goes a long way. The best thing is that there aren't as many homeless people on this bike path (unlike the LA River Bike Path). There are many picturesque views and a short, but steep incline at the 26.5 mile marker. I will definitely be back here to work on endurance and speed with my bike. read more

This little park is a wonderful little place to bring your kids and your dogs (it's not a dog park but there are plenty of grassy areas for your little pup or pups to relieve themselves and roam around in). There is also plenty of shade if you happen to come here on a sunny and warm day. There is a baseball field, tennis courts and basketball courts here, along with a playground. There is also a historical museum here as well (but open very limited hours and quite small. I have been to this museum numerous of times when I was much younger). Oh and there are also bathrooms here as well (but not always unlocked though). There is some parking spots here, but also street parking as well. What I really love about this park is that it is right across the San Gabriel River Trail that is the best bike trail to bike on a weekend by yourself or with a friend. If you want a great work out, you can ride it all the way down to Orange County (no cars, so completely safe and smooth roads). Overall, a great little place to bring the family for a picnic and perhaps go for a bike ride. read more

It's a small family park, with a field of green grass, a kids playground, tennis courts, a few picnic tables under huts, and a nature walk. The park is open from sunrise till 10pm, though probably don't want to be there at night as it gets rather dark. Also within the premises is the Duarte Historical Museum. I've never been in, as their museum hours are kinda odd. Saturdays from 1-4pm, and 1st and 3rd Wednesdays from 1-3pm. Ridiculous, right? I mainly use the lot as a means to get to the San Gabriel Bicycle Trail. Just cross the bridge and you're on the bike path. read more

This park was clean and pet owners were responsible in cleaning up after their furry family members. Lots of trees to shade us after a few rounds around the park. I love the nature walk way. It added a bit of serenity to the place vs a plain park with grass and a playground. I also liked that this place has 2 volleyball nets up in a sandbox. Thank you city of Duarte for keeping the park clean and well lit at night. read more

I usually come here to just play basketball, but the park has so much more to offer. There's a full basketball court, 2 sand volleyball pits (w/ nets), a huge multipurpose field with little cabanas spread throughout the park, and a nice jungle gym for the kids. The running path is half dirt trail and part cement. It's not bad: great views, super clean, and friendly people. Parking is easy and people usually come here to meet up for a nice bike ride. read more

Lovely little park in east Durate (the part that abuts Irwindale). It contains the Durate historical museum, a playground, and a nature walk around the park. Just across the street is an entrance to the San Gabriel bike / river trail. It brings you down to Irwindale, San Gabriel, and eventually seal beach. If you are gung-ho, you'd start up in Los Angeles national park and ride down here. It's probably 40+ miles one way. Lots of people park in the park's public lot to go biking, walking with their dogs, and horseback riding. We were greeted with the most friendly little corgi ... the kind that would make all Dug (from Up!) lovers happy... "I just met you and I love you!" hehe. :) Next time, we're bringing our roller blades!!! ps.. bring sunblock!! read more

Encanto Park is located in the city of Duarte. This park is great for people of all ages and has a lot to offer for those who love sports. The playground is quite large and includes a swing set, several slides, and bars for children to climb on. There's a soccer/baseball field, tennis courts, volleyball on sand, volleyball on grass (bring your own net), basketball court, a short dirt walking trail, plenty of grass and even a city of Duarte historical museum (limited hours). I really like the dirt path, too bad it doesn't stay dirt all the way around a lap though. You'll definitely have fun at this park, check it out! read more

Encanto Park - Parks Near Me - Duarte, California

Encanto Park is one of the larger parks in Duarte. It is on the east side of the city and borders on the San Gabriel River, separated by Encanto Parkway. The city keeps the park pretty clean and it gets fairly heavy use. On the southern edge of the park is the Duarte Historical Museum. The park has large open space for those wanting to play soccer or football. A softball field is also available. If tennis or basketball is your thing you can play there too. There are picnic tables and shade from trees. You will find the typical kids playground toys to keep the younger toddler busy. A restroom is available though I have never used it so I can not comment on the cleanliness. I use the park as a water stop either to/from my bike rides on the San Gabriel River bike trail, which is easily accessed from the park. During fire season it is common to see the park used as a staging area for firefighters and helicopter landings are common. read more

This is a really great park. The playground is large and clean, with plenty of sand to play in. There is plenty of picnicking space, including several picnic tables (some covered), a tennis court, and a basketball court. The trail that goes around the park is very cute. My toddler loves walking around, and we have even seen frogs here, at the back of the trail. There is also a bathroom, although it is not always open. My only concern with this park has been feeling safe. I have been there a couple times, during the week days, while there was either no one else there, or just a couple men hanging out in their cars. Since it is pretty secluded, I always feel a little concerned until more people show up. read more

Encanto Park is located in the city of Duarte, not far from where the 210 and 605 meet. On its east side is the San Gabriel River. On the southern end of the park is the Duarte Historical Museum. You can park your car in the Encanto Park parking lot and cross the street to access the trails surrounding the (usually dried out) San Gabriel River. Or, what I did with friends was park our cars in the parking lot, then jog/walk north up the street to the Fish Canyon trail-head (which is about a mile away). Of course, if you want to hike Fish Canyon, there is a parking lot at the trail-head, but we just decided to leave our cars at the park on this particular day. The park is pretty clean and there were quite a bit of people out and about when we were there around 530-6 PM. It also had a large playground, plenty of picnic tables, tennis courts, and a basketball court. There is also a small trail that loops around the park. I would definitely come back to this park. read more

This is my go to park when royal oaks is full. I usually go to parks just to play tennis. I think there is a homeless person that lives on the rear trail of this park, but I've heard he's harmless. The park is clean and quite spacious. I often come here to take my daughter on strolls. read more

Nice little park in Duarte. A playground for the kiddos, a basketball court, two tennis courts, volleyball courts, and ample space to run around. Place is pretty clean. Great little park. I gave it one star, because although they have bathrooms, they are locked.

This park offers tennis courts, playground, gazebos, grass field, and a museum. It is too bad this park is unavailable during the weekend. The parking lot and street parking is completely full during the weekend. Cycling groups, at one time led by the Duarte mayor, meet up and fill the parking lot so locals cannot park. If you want to have a family gathering and rent a gazebo, count on yourself and guests parking a mile from the park. Except for soccer groups renting the field on weekends (and parking a mile away) the park is little used. Duarte might as well pave the park over and put in a parking lot for all that Duarte and the mayor cares about using this green space. read more
