This park has two tennis courts as well as two full basketball courts. Bathrooms are clean and looks relatively safe. Not a huge park but has pretty solid amenities.

Came across this gem last year and I love it. The walk path to the park is so beautiful. There is so many trees and flowers around and well kept. Doesn't matter the time of the day is always so relaxing to take a walk here. Be careful you make come across some deers from time to time but they mind their busibThe park is very nice and clean. The community takes good care of this place. Thank you .

A nice little park along the Duarte walking path. The park has basketball courts, tennis courts, playground and restrooms. It's a nice area to spend some time with family and friends.

When I first got married, my bride and I lived in east Monrovia, and happened upon this park walking our dogs down the Royal Oaks walking/jogging/biking/horseback-riding path. The park is at the eastern end of the path, and is a rational turn-around point for joggers and dog walkers. The park itself is well maintained and generally self-policing with lots of families and regular sheriff patrols. There are picnic facilities, a play structure for the kiddies, tennis courts, basketball courts, a small "rec center" and restrooms. Across the street, the park continues with a few covered tables and an expanse of grass for soccer, running wild, or playing fetch with your canine companion. Royal Oaks is marked 25 mph, and there is a pretty wide berth of green space between park and street, but watch your kids-- children can be fast, and so can cars on this street, despite traffic enforcement. As a bonus for walkers, runners and bikers, try challenging yourself by going up La Loma Ave between the two parks. It is a steep dead end street that will definitely get your heart pumping. There is a great view at the top on clear days, and it adds some nice cardio to the otherwise flat Royal Oaks trail. This park (or Encanto park about 1/2 mile east) is also a good bathroom stop if you're biking the San Gabriel River trail.

This little park in Duarte is nice and generally fairly maintained. There is a nice playground with swings, a few dirty benches, a few grills and a little gazebo with picnic tables, 2 tennis courts, a rec center and a basketball court. (There are also bathrooms here, next to the basketball court) Great place to bring little kids, have a picnic and maybe even have a little outdoor birthday gathering. This place is also a nice place to walk your dog. But this place is not very safe to go to at night. Throughout the year, a handful of city events take place here, including the route 66 parade celebration, 4th of July fireworks and the Halloween carnival. There really isn't much else to say about this place except that it's just okay.

Great park for those that like to play sports, are looking for a large area of grass for your pets to play, or just a place to hang out and picnic. Came on a Saturday afternoon, and pretty much had the whole park to ourselves. We brought our 2 dogs as 3 parrots, laid some blankets out and brought our basketball to shoot around. Soon the park started to liven up, parents were playing tennis with the kids, kids came to play basketball, and parents and kids attended a party of some sort. I never saw and scary or suspicious people, and people we met were friendly. The bathrooms were very clean, with seat covers, toilet paper, and even mirrors. There were lots of places to sit in the sun, as well as in the shade. We will definitely be back with some tennis racquets! Update: played tennis at night and it was great, except the wiring for the lighting needs to be checked. Sometimes we had to play with the switch, other times the lights would come right on. Switch for the bball courts work just fine.

Love this park. It's quiet, clean, and it only takes me 2 minutes to get here. I can take my 1 year old on walks without feeling cramped. There's trees lining most of the way so it has nice shaded areas while walking the trail. And there's not usually many people there, so my kid can play in the playground without having to take turns.

Nice little park in Duarte to take your kids for some playtime. Enough playground equipment to satisfy your little ones for an hour or two of play. There is a grassy area to run around in or just plop yourself down for a picnic. There are also a couple of basketball courts, tennis courts, and poles set up for a volleyball net. There is also a building on site, which I think houses community classes. The day we were there a karate class was going in. Overall, pretty well maintained. Would be a nice place to also park your car if you wanted to walk/bike/run on the trail.

It's a nice and clean park but the playground should be updated . I like how everything is close to the tables.

There is a cafe/ convenience store across from the campground where you can also purchase your day use park pass for $5. I experienced a foggy day, which gave a cooling effect to my hiking. Restrooms are vault toilets, so unpleasant smells and a mess are a given. The lake has lots of swampy algae, therefore not appropriate for swimming or water sports. However, they do allow fishing with permit. I am a nature enthusiast and it was saddening to see the lack of humans respect for nature, with graffiti and trash in some areas of the park. Crystal lake definitely could use more funding to preserve its natural beauty. The loveliest part is listening to woodpeckers as they work, watching an eagle fly above with a fish in its talons, and treading quietly not to startle the squirrel who is crossing my path. I suggest picking up a map with hiking trails from the rangers post or convenience store, before planning your day!

There's a shaded area for eating with 2 picnic tables under it, but that's it. The entire play structure and swings are in the beating sun 100% of the time. Today was a very mild 75 degree early summer day and we went early around 10:45. Within 30 minutes of arrival, the slides were so hot our almost 2 y/o son physically reacted every time he touched them. The park is in a very nice and quiet residential area. There's nothing but street parking, but the streets are wide and not busy. The grounds were very clean and well kept. The bathrooms even had soap AND paper towels - yay! Like others said, this structure is mostly appropriate for a toddler as young as ours. He even did ok on the winding slide. Some slides are so steep that he falls forward even though they're supposed to be geared at toddlers, but all 3 slides here were fine for him. However, the only way to get up are monkey bar-like stairs (skinny metal bars) that no toddler can safely use, then the other side has stairs. The stairs are way too far apart for a young one to do alone. He either had to crawl or we held his hands while he took giant steps lol. If you get bored at this park, there are 2 more within ~5 blocks or less heading west! They're off the same street, too. Just go to the north of the block north of the park and take a left and you'll see 2 others fairly quickly. We'll definitely be back because of how clean and safe it felt.
