Downtown Historic B&B has been on my list since their open house last year. Finally, I got my…read morechance and it did not disappoint. It would be best just to give a play by play of our stay. Once we booked we arrived we followed the instructions on our confirmation. It gave us a code to a secure box where we were to find the rest of the details for our stay. It felt a lot like a scene from Clue. Fun! Inside looks exactly how you'd hope it to look based on the outside. It's filled with authentic built in furniture in solid sturdy wood. Ours was the Garden Room which was more of a suite than a room. In addition to the queen bed, there is also a separate room (like a living room) with a pull out couch. The living room has a door that leads out to a balcony that looks over the entire property. From there you can see a huge courtyard with a fireplace and luxurious lounge chairs, hammocks and benches. There is a pond, or more of a brook that runs through the back courtyard. I never determined if there were fish. The entire setting is a place for anyone but particularly those who want to take a few days to catch their breath. I sure did. In the morning the DH B&B served homemade quiche, multigrain pancakes, piping hot coffee and juice. If you are going to be in Albuquerque and are doing some comparisons, this one is more than just clean; it's delightful. I am a local. Even so, I'll be treating myself to this again..and again.

They also make all of the bathroom products in the rooms. Central location, easy to get to any of the main freeways and super close to the airport. I highly recommend trying Groves which is a 2 minute walk away for to go coffee, sweets or food. Very trendy little place with amazing homemade English muffins. Definitely worth supporting over the chain places in town. It made for a unique travel experience.

Desert Harbor - One of our breakfasts! The portion size was huge! We couldn't finish it all, so we had it again for lunch! So yummy!

The casita was exactly what I wanted for my little personal retreat and and solitude The highlights: The food was so delicious and enriching. The wood fire hot tub soak was amazing and I was gifted with seemingly billions of stars. The property has room for roaming and meditation (including a chapel that had painting-like views). I can't say enough about this special place.

We stayed at Desert Harbor for 5 days, and had breakfast and dinner served by Raymond (the fabulous owner of Desert Harbor). The food was amazing, although we knew what we were going to get as we were given a menu to pick our meals prior to arriving, the actual food was so much better than what we imagined from the menu! I love that we can pick exactly what we want to eat, as well as accommodating to any dietary restrictions. The portion size was super generous as well! During our stay, we highly enjoyed our interactions with Raymond, he is super polite and thoughtful! We had plenty of privacy during our stay, and highly enjoyed taking our outdoor showers! In our 5 day stay, we did not get bored of things to do, never did we leave the property once to explore ABQ or Santa Fe. This place is truly a restful, rejuvenating retreat! The wood burning hot tub was probably one of the most special moments for us there as we got to be outside in the dark watching the stars. If you are considering a place to getaway, to rekindle your marriage, or a place to just find yourself and refresh, Desert Harbor is definitely the place! After this second experience, my wife and I have decided that we will be making an annual trip out here as our little marriage retreat!
