I've been twice with friends. Jay greeted us upon arrival and was very clear with instructions. The rooms are well designed and decorated, the only snag is sometimes the clues that have to activate the screen don't stay up for long and don't always activate right away which might make you think you did something wrong, so hopefully that can be tweaked but otherwise a great place and can't wait to go back for the last couple rooms! We originally found them from Groupon but it sounds like purchasing directly would be the better way to go. Plenty of parking here which is a huge plus. Maybe the worst escape room I've done! So many props were broken, everything was cheap and ugly. The puzzles were occasionally cool, but for the most part they made absolutely no sense, and not in a fun way. our game master Jay did great, but even he couldn't save this. Terrible! read more

The owner, Jay, is very involved in his rooms and was our game master for the day. My group had a good time doing the "Belly of the Beast" room. A lot of unique puzzles that I hadn't seen before. We barely escaped with the help of a couple hints. We can't wait to go back and play the second chapter of the story. There's a free parking lot where we easily found a spot in front of the entrance. They share an entrance with the law office. Once you enter they have another door on the left where you can press their doorbell. read more

Amazing Black owned Escape Room! It looks so cool immediately when you walk through the main door and the owner was so kind. This was challenging for my boyfriend and I but we always suck at escape rooms so when we were actually able to make it within seconds of dying by the dragon we were ecstatic !! The Tavern was so much fun! Great creative use of space and a nice variety of puzzles. We had six, which felt a little crowded, would probably be perfect at 4, but everyone had an awesome time. Jay took great care of us. Will definitely be back to try the other rooms. read more

The Enchanted Castle room is not worth your time or money. I normally am not much of a review writer, especially negative reviews, but this was expensive enough, and there are enough great alternatives in LA, that it feels worthwhile to warn others that this isn't a very good escape room. That is to say nothing against the person who ran it for us -- he was very nice and accommodating of us showing up as a walk-in without a reservation. The room itself, however, was poorly designed. The puzzles lacked indication of which components worked together, a problem made worse by the fact that some of them were in disrepair and it was hard to even read what the letters on them were. The "puzzles" were mostly just matching things that you're explicitly told to match, such as being given a key (thing A = thing B), then applying that knowledge elsewhere. This kind of simple matching can work as an interesting puzzle element, but only if there is something else to it, such as an "aha!" moment when you realize that those things correspond. Unfortunately, that was not the case here; it was extremely surface level. The technology in the room was a hinderance to the experience rather than an aid. Without spoiling much, there were several things triggered through proximity sensors (hold something up to something else) where the sensors were very finicky, and there were boxes and doors that got stuck on opening or otherwise made it hard to tell they were unlocked. One of the puzzles got stuck making a sort of "you did it" jingle over and over again when we hadn't even completed it. If you're looking for a high quality escape room experience with interesting puzzles, I would recommend you skip this one. read more

A great family bonding experience! Never did an escape room, but this set the bar for a great experience that I would be willing to do again. Jay was great at being available for hints and clues. Had a great time yesterday playing both the Belly of the Beast and the Tavern rooms at the NoHo location. Husband and wife run small business which I really appreciate. They put a lot of work into executing each of the themes. There were a variety of puzzles and linear storylines which I like! Jay was incredibly helpful host. The clue system in Tavern was incredibly creative and unique...something I have never seen before in the many escape rooms I've been too! I was impressed. Give them a try! Absolutely fantastic escape room! We have done all previous chapters before Enchanted Castle as the final one. This room was the ROUGHEST but so much fun! We managed to escape with 30 seconds LEFT! My friends were visiting LA and we decided to try out "Belly of the Beast". It was lots of fun and found the puzzles quite challenging. Minor hiccup with one of the boxes having trouble opening, but GM was very attentive and fixed it right away. All the other mechanisms worked pretty well. We like that all the escape rooms here have an overarching story. I have not seen that before with other escape room locations. read more

Had an awesome time doing the tavern room. Owner was super cool as well. Hand made games so you won't see them elsewhere. Was not easy with 3 players, would say in between a medium and hard for only 3. Lots of puzzles, everything makes sense unlike other escape rooms. Finished with 7 seconds left. As I walked into this mysterious building the thrill like a electric shock went through my body. I was thrilled and exited considering I had never been to an escape room before. Jay the one who helped us through this WONDERFUL experience was fantastic his spirit giving us hope when we weren't sure if we would make it out.
