I can't really compare this to any other experience I've had. Sidenote, there is outstanding Wi-Fi across the whole property, and my phone's 5G also did well (t-mobile). The grounds and various group rooms, the kitchen and food prep, all of this is personally handled by the diligent and caring staff. The thing they call cabins -- not really the name I would use, I dislike cabins, but this room was terrific. simple, but excellent bedding.

From the lush, vibrant garden (hands down the most beautiful I've ever seen) to the peaceful meadows filled with wild deer and turkeys roaming freely, every inch of this place radiates natural beauty and serenity. My partner and I came here to unwind, and we left feeling deeply nourished, inspired, and recharged. We had some profound creative breakthroughs during our stay, and were finally able to get the kind of rest our bodies and minds were craving. Our dogs were in absolute heaven too, especially swimming in the river nearby! But what made this place truly unforgettable was the people. The hosts are warm, genuine, and full of heart. You can feel how much love and intention has been poured into this land and community. It felt like we were welcomed into a sacred little sanctuary, and we're already dreaming of our next visit. If you're looking for a healing, grounding, soul-expanding getaway, this is it. Thank you to everyone at The Land for creating such a special space. We'll be back soon.

I came to Northern California Vipassana Center in Kelseyville through a referral from the Sam…read moreHarris website, Waking Up. I was interested in mediation instruction that would be free of religious dogma (hence my seeking a referral from the Harris website) and that was focused on meditation technique. I have found the Center to be exactly that. If a philosophical or religious concept is mentioned, it is quickly followed by the admonition not to accept any concept that is not evidence based, or does not make sense to you. The retreats at the Center have been a huge benefit to my practice (in fact, I hesitate to describe my meditation efforts before my first retreat as "practice". They were more like mind wandering sessions.). The Center is in a beutiful setting in the woods outside of Kelseyville. The accomodations are simple as they should be, but provide all that you need to facilitate mediation (the meals are excellent, btw). The entire staff is exemplerary and are fully dedicated to furthering the practice of attendees. Very worth noting - the business model for the Vipassana Centers is unmatched - all the retreats and courses, meals and lodging included, are free (the centers charges absolutely nothing for any of their services). The centers are supported solely through donations from, and the volunteer work of, people who have attended instruction. Regardless of whether one donates or later volunteers time, all are welcome back to attend retreats as long as they like (there is no means testing. People donate whatever they can afford, or wish to, or they are free not to donate at all. As far as I can tell, the donations are anonymous and not even tracked by the organization). I am not aware of any other organization that can match this demonstration of sincerity and authenticity. Finally, it is recomended that new students attend a 10 day silent retreat. This can seem very daunting for a beginning mediatator. Before my attendance, I was very uncertain that I would make it through 10 days and considered a shorter option. But attending the 10 day was one of the best things I have ever done. The first few days may be a bit difficult, but for me, the longer stay was necessary to get through those early days and to start realizing real results. I am now looking forward to my fourth 10 day retreat and actually find that the time at each retreat passes too quickly.

We were very excited to each have our own rooms with attached bathrooms, and felt like QUEENS... I personally was in Room #6 upstairs with a cute little balcony. The bed was so luxurious and ridiculously comfortable that it made it really hard to get out of bed and face the day (side note: they are clearly brand-new beds and incorrectly spoken about on that negative review, so take that one with a grain of salt, SMH); Some had deep jetted tubs, some had ADA walk-in showers, something to accommodate everyone's needs! Each bathroom even had extra amenities you wouldn't expect like make-up remover and cotton balls - such a nice touch! One thing I was worried about was the traffic noise at night, but it was not an issue at all, which just shows that the insulation renovations that were completed really were impeccable and every last comfort was thought of for their guests. Access to the kitchen and laundry facilities was also a huge plus as well for last minute weather needs! I highly recommend this gem in Sonoma County when you book your next wine country adventure! =)

This place is, by far, the most uncomfortable stay at any place, ever. History be damned. We were in a room RIGHT next to a main road that provided road and car noise all night long. It was LOUD. For myself, I experienced the worst two nights of 'sleep' that I can remember because of the noise and a mattress that should have been discarded YEARS ago. The gas fireplace didn't work. Zero instructions on how to get it lit. YouTubed how to get it lit, still didn't work. The condiment on this shit sandwich of a stay was the veranda outside our room having a security camera pointed directly toward the outside furniture where you'd sit. Zero chance of having ANY privacy. Its creepy and total bullshit. We can tell the place is owned by people that could not care less about the comfort of the guests, you're just income for them. Who puts cameras in private areas? We couldn't have disliked the place any more than we did. The place is a joke. It sure made a rough stay in Santa Rosa.
