The bathroom, not much room to put stuff

So going to this place was a surprise for my birthday, so I never looked at the reviews or pictures. But my husband and I were a little disappointed. I don't like tile floors especially because I didn't have slippers or socks to walk around. The shower was very small and I thought if you were a big person you couldn't even fit . My husband said the fireplace didn't work. My husband thought it was more like a bed-and-breakfast where you got maybe a small breakfast with fruit and coffee. They did have very good coffee in the room and they left us pastries which were good. The bed I believe was a Tempur-pedic and I slept pretty well. It was close to the square which was great. Even though it was raining, we didn't care, and we walked around the whole square and then ate and walked back. The TP holder maybe should've been on the other side because my husband kept knocking it. Some of the lights you weren't sure where to turn them on but eventually found them. Then I didn't know they had a charging station at the desk if you flipped this partition open. Maybe just put a little note so I would've known. Great that it had a refrigerator was surprised no TV as most places have TVs these days. We checked in after four and so there was nobody on site. We were greeted in the morning, which was nice. I did an edit to add one more picture. But then all the other pictures were gone of the tub that you could hardly get into and the shower stall. Not sure what happened on yelp.

Quaint and well appointed rooms and staff is very accommodating.. they allow for early check in if the room is ready.. stayed in the casita and it was so lovely and relaxing. The location is walking distance to the square which is perfect. I would of given a 5 but the bed was a little too firm for me. Definitely my go to place for my Sonoma getaways..

My husband surprised me with a birthday massage today! We arrived a little early and were greeted with warm smiles and cold bottled waters. Terry showed us to the beautiful courtyard where we waited in patio chairs, next to a water fountain and lots of shade (thank goodness because our 5-month old was heating up in the stroller). I got the 90-minute wellness massage with Stephanie. We chatted briefly about the areas that I wanted to focus on, as a new mom. She was very courteous and checked in on me throughout the massage. The pressure was perfect and the lavender lemon scent was soothing and calming. I was so very relaxed that I dozed off and on! This was a perfect way to celebrate my birthday! Thanks Stephanie! Will definitely come back again to treat my wonderful husband for a couples' massage!

We loved this boutique hotel right in the heart of Sonoma. We were in town for a wedding, and loved that this was close to downtown yet still quiet and peaceful. It's walking distance to everything you'd want to see, and we had no issues with parking. The room was beautiful and well maintained, and we loved being able to sit in the courtyard in the evening.

Didn't want to checkout on Sunday after a great stay at The Cottage Inn & Spa. Everything about this spot is fantastic. The rooms, the aesthetic, the comfortable beds, the 8AM pastries left at your door, the gorgeous showers. I truly could go on and on. Will definitely return next time I'm in Sonoma. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Had a fantastic stay at The Cottage Inn and Spa in the Arroyo suite. The inn is conveniently located a couple blocks from the plaza, where there are some great restaurants and tasting rooms. The inn itself is also quiet and quaint. The suite was very cozy, relaxing, and well-decorated. It was especially great to have a mini kitchen and private fenced yard! There is no TV, but we knew this in advance and brought a Bluetooth speaker to play some background music. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely stay here again! p.s. We also saw a deer at the home next door!

Slow down here ... Hidden gem B&B and Spa located behind historic Sonoma Mission. Excellent deep tissue massage. Serene, beautiful atmosphere. Treat yourself here after hiking or shopping in the square and before dinner.

From the architecture and interior design to the simple cute coffee spoons and lanterns provided in the room, we were happy with it all. The staff was very friendly and allowed us to check in early which is always a plus for me. We reserved the East Suite which was nice and cozy. The room didn't have a TV which we ended up appreciating as we were able to really unwind and relax. Love the jacuzzi and the Beekman toiletries!

While visiting Sonoma for 2 days, my husband & I booked the Courtyard Room at The Cottage Inn & Spa (it was the only room still available at the time of booking). Street parking was easy to find right in front of the inn. Check-in was simple & we were pleased to find that our room was ready a few hours early. First impressions of the room were favorable. It was simple, but very clean & esthetically pleasing. It looked just like the online photos. The small kitchenette with a microwave, coffee maker, bag of fresh ground coffee, tea bags, jam, refrigerator with cream/butter/water, was a nice touch & appreciated. We were surprised to find that there was not a television in our room, but it was not a big deal. I think it's worth mentioning though, in case that's a deal breaker for you. The complimentary pastries delivered to our room in the morning were a bit disappointing. With all of the great bakeries in the area, we were surprised that the pastries were two sugary donuts. Again, not a huge deal, but we expected a bit more. The biggest complaint though with this particular room is that the door is frosted glass and at night, with the lights from the courtyard shining through, it was literally like having a light on in our room. If you are sensitive to light when trying to sleep like we are, then we do not recommend booking the courtyard room! With that being said though, we would definitely consider staying at The Cottage Inn & Spa again, just in a different room.

In A Nutshell: -The Cottage Inn & Spa is a wonderful place to stay while you visit Sonoma. -After staying at the Fairmont & this location, both of which are very good, I prefer staying here. -The location is excellent b/c it's a 5 minute walk to downtown. -The cottages/suites are all unique, I was able to stay in a cozy one-bedroom, one bath w/ a kitchen, living room w/ fireplace (bummer b/c it wasn't working) & a tiny backyard that leads out to your car space. -You can also book discounted packages like their full-body couples massages and/or wine tasting down the street at Sojourn Cellars (both were awesome experiences). -The customer service is super-nice & they always give you a warm welcoming smile. -The semi-private courtyard was great to look out at while enjoying breakfast or the high-end tea/coffee (which is supplied in the suite). -Speaking of breakfast, at 8am you get a paper bag hung on your front door which has some baked goods (English scone & French croissant). Overall, this is such an awesome, quiet place to stay at for a couple of days while you enjoy Sonoma & the surrounding wine-country. BOOK IT!

The coziest little Inn & Spa! We loved the location... literally walking distance from the Sonoma town square. Parking was easy & accessible with no fees or need to move our car on the weekend. We were a tad early and were greeted with smiles and welcomed right into our room, with a personalized welcome note on our door. I love that we were given a tour of the light switches, remotes, ect. for the room; I found this helpful and personal. We stayed in the South Suite, which was a perfect size for us. There was a blanket in the bottom drawer (unbeknownst to me until check-out day), an ironing board and iron, safe, microwave, fridge, little lantern light and mini speaker. We loved and used the fire whenever we were in the room and were thankful to be able to adjust the heat ourselves with our remote. The bath had jets to make it a jacuzzi and my husband enjoyed this. The February weather was too cold for us to sit outside on our little deck, but it would be lovely in the summer. Of course we had to indulge in the deep tissue & Swedish (prenatal) massage one day as well. They brought sandals to our room, greeted and took us to the spa room, which is beautiful, serene and peaceful. The massages were amazing; we are thankful for Gloria & Willow's talent. I would totally recommend this inn & spa to anyone traveling to the Sonoma area.

Ask the Community - The Cottage Inn & Spa

Are the cottages freestanding or connected to each other? Thanks!

Hi Tara! It depends on the room; some have adjoining walls, and some are freestanding. Please call us at (707) 996-0719 so we can help you choose the best room possible for your visit to Sonoma. Thanks!

    Is there a hot tub?

We do not have an exterior hot tub for guest use. Several of our suites (South, Mission, Chapel, East and Vineyard View) have in-room jacuzzi tubs.

Are there ACs and heaters in every room?

Yes, we have A/C and heater units in every suite.

Anyone know if the rooms have a tv and/or DVD player in them too?

Hello- The only suite with a TV is the Fountain View Cottage.

Whose birthday is in March?! Even without staying at the hotel, the day pass was worth every penny. Check-in is seamless, and the locker rooms are fully stocked with easy-to-use lockers, plush robes, slippers, and luxurious bath products. It feels indulgent from the start. The amenities are what truly set this place apart. Outside, you can choose between two large heated pools at different temperatures, plus a hot tub tucked away in the far corner for a quieter soak. Inside, there are two additional hot tubs, a spacious sauna, and a steam room. There are showers with a signature scrub, too. If the weather doesn't cooperate, there are plenty of comfortable indoor lounging areas, including dreamy zero-gravity chairs that make it impossible not to relax. Both visits, we treated ourselves to bottle service, which made the day feel extra special. While I didn't order food, the portions looked generous and the pricing felt fair for a luxury resort experience. The staff is exceptionally well-trained, and a few team members truly went above and beyond both times. We brought cash on our second visit to make sure we could tip appropriately. One thing I will say: if you're looking for a QUIET and ultra-peaceful experience, I would avoid Saturdays. The first time we went (a Sunday), it felt very zen. The second visit was on a Saturday, and there were larger groups celebrating birthdays. Some guests were there to party, and it got loud, specifically at the hot top and indoors. Obviously, that's out of the Fairmont's control, but it's something to keep in mind depending on the vibe you're hoping for. There's honestly no better way to spend a winter day, especially when you can follow it up with a meal at El Molino Central right across the street. Note that parking is validated for a set amount of time (then around $3/hour after), which makes it easy and convenient. I love everything about this place. It's the perfect reset during the colder months, and I can't wait to return.

We used to adore the top notch service, restaurant, spa and rooms. The absolutely gorgeous and impeccably maintained grounds with lavish floral arrangements made it feel like heaven. Although I moved here a decade ago go, I still returned for events, spa service and the restaurant. Unfortunately, it's is NOTHING like it used to be and it breaks my heart. Most recently, for the first time after a long illness, I tried to book a simple pedicure. I booked it online for $135. Steep, but worth it for their great service I thought. Then I got a phone message confirming my appointment and saying that it wasn't $135, it was really $194 because they require you to pay $59 to use the spa facilities for the day, even if you're not going to use said facilities. Why not have it booked that way online? So $194 plus a 20% gratuity PLUS $49 for valet parking. Soooo, for a one hour pedicure it's $270. Pleeeease. No wonder I could a get an appointment for any time I wanted 24 hours from when I was booking. The funny thing is, I would have probably shopped and purchased food anyway. They would have made more from me if they just went jerks about it. Charging people more for a lot less is why they've developed a crappy reputation over the years. It's sad to see another favorite place of mine turn to crap. The only shining star was Steve who answered the phone at the spa and ever so kindly answered my questions and canceled my appointment. Thank you, Steve. Goodbye, Sonoma Mission Inn. Although you've been long gone, I will still miss your days of glory many years ago.
