I recently went with my boyfriend to get pedicures, I'm white and he's black. I noticed a significant difference in the way we were treated. The employee working with me was very friendly and offered me a water/te, and the employee working with my boyfriend basically didn't talk to him and didn't offer him anything. Then when that employee moved on to work with the next (white) customer, the employee was very friendly and talkative. So, I have been a few more times since my last visit and I saw Ann who I would give 2-stars. She cut me a couple of times and my gel polish lasted a week. Yes, they offer the 2-week guarantee which I love but when you have a busy schedule its hard to get back there. Walked in on a weekday evening and was seen immediately for a gel manicure. The man who did my nails cut my cuticles to the point of bleeding four times. I have a scar on two of my nails. He was very nonchalant about the bleeding and at one point just let it drip down my finger. Worst gel manicure I've had, and it didn't last over a week. I believe they will redo them, but my experience was so bad I just took the gel off myself so my cuticles could heal for a couple weeks. Would not recommend. read more

I absolutely love and enjoy getting my gel mani and pedi's at Enchanted. Tree is my tech and always treats me well. Never feel rushed and nails always last two weeks, even if I have to revisit for a chip I'm welcomed with a great smile and very fast. Appointments are needed for the evenings but you won't regret going. PLUS, they offer adult beverages and pups to relax with while receiving services. And the foot massages OMG to die for. read more

After politely asking why the manager would schedule me for a 5 PM appointment when he had no technicians available until 5:30 PM, the manager blamed his salon's poor service on me, for having rescheduled my appointment earlier in the day. Apparently Enchanted doesn't understand the concept of an appointment. Anyway, both the manager and his technicians were incredibly rude. I have never received such poor service anywhere in my entire life. I will never return. Although I would not recommend this place for body waxing, I'd like to start with the good points. I called and made a same-day appointment, and they were accomodating. When I got there, I wanted to add a service, and it wasn't a problem. I really like how late it stays open; it gives people who work late like me the opportunity to go to the salon on a weekday. The place was full of happy customers, and they gave me a bottle of water while I was waiting. Everyone had smiles on. I went for body waxing. I love waxing, I usually do it myself, and I've been doing it for years. If waxing is done correctly, it doesn't hurt me at all. A friend recommend this salon to me for the price and quality of their waxing services, so I decided to try it. It became immediately apparent the waxer was not a certified esthetician. She did not use a pre-wax solution to clean the areas before she waxed. She just put the wax on my skin and ripped it off. She applied the wax in the opposite direction of the hair growth, and she pulled in the wrong directions. It was an awful, painful experience. The waxer didn't understand what I was saying, and we couldn't communicate. After the horrible body waxing, I asked for the aloe vera on the counter. I wanted to do it myself, but she insisted on applying it to me. She used a cotton ball and barely applied any because the bottle was almost empty. I wanted to leave quickly because I was in so much pain. I almost ran out of there. When I put my black pants on (that were laying on the floor), there was a white film/powder all over my pants and my purse. I assume it is baby powder, and it's all over the floor in the waxing room. When I pointed it out to the employee, she wanted to wipe my pants clean with a cloth, but I was ready to bolt out of the door at that point. I shouldn't have paid, but I did because I felt bad for the waxer. The waxer herself was a kind and attentive employee, but she obviously had no idea what she was doing. She should not wax customers, and the business shouldn't allow customers to be waxed by someone who isn't a certified esthetician. I have never experienced such a level of pain while waxing, even when I first began waxing five years ago. My skin is very, very badly burned, barely two hours later. I went home and applied hydrogen peroxide immediately, but my skin is still quite red, and there was a lot of hair left over. Don't go here for waxing until they hire or train their employees appropriately. read more

This is nice because many nail places request cash tips, but Enchanted offers you a deal for having that cash with you. They also have a guarantee on gel manicures, which I have never seen anywhere else. They will fix any mistakes or chips within a set number of days. read more

I think I am being generous with my 3 stars. Went in last night around 6:45 after another salon, couldn't accommodate my 630 appointment I had with them. I sat for 15 minutes before anyone came over to see what I need, after I signed in. They told me I had to wait 30 minutes for the person who does fill in's. Ok, fine, its pouring outside, so I wait. Well, I waited 45 minutes, after my initial run in with talking to some one. Great, get it started, its almost 8. Well, the nail tech who did my nails was nice enough, but she kept pushing the SNS powder. I get that people love it, but I change my nail color like I change my hair, its never the same for long, and that's not a good option for me. Well, we finish up my nails a little before 10. Yes, 10PM. WTF! I paid, $85 for a soak off of my old acrylics, a full set, and gel polish. I should have waited for my nail salon to get my nails done, because I would never pay that much to get my nails done. This place came highly recommended for its great service, and yet, they were lacking so much of it last night. read more

This salon is hands down the best spot in D.C. to get a mani/pedi. The prices are very reasonable and they do such a thorough job. My favorite part is the customer experience. You're taken care of immediately and rarely have to wait. The staff immediately serves you with a beverage of your choice (champagne -- FULL GLASS, mimosa -- splash of OJ, lots of champagne, wine -- full glass!!, and of course the usual, tea, coffee, water). DO NOT see Izzy. It was my first time to this salon and I called ahead for my friend and myself to see what the wait time was like. The woman on the phone was pleasant said I could come right now since the salon was slow. I was seated and waited for my service and noticed a shop full of your average put together nail salon staff. Needless to say I was surprised when I was stuck with Izzy. At first, despite her sloppy unprofessional appearance (unlike all of her coworkers who looked just fine), I thought her personality was pretty fun, but then she "got comfortable" and kept swearing which was off putting. She was slow to start then she was really slow about EVERYTHING. The previous place that did my nails had done them very thin so three had cracked. I asked Izzy if she could fix them and to thicken them up a little. You know how they do a fill and drag some acrylic over the rest of your nail then thin it back down? I figure she'd do that, but not thin it so it would be a normal thickness. Also, normally every other salon would cut the broken nail off and put a tip on it. But Izzy just slathered on a THICK coat of acrylic. I've seen manicurists do this before, but then they sand it down so I saw patiently and let her do her thing. Yet she left it THICK. Yet it took her TWO HOURS to do a fill and gel. TWO HOURS. I've been getting acrylic nails done for 8 years and it's never taken this long. The results were lumpy and she even left a ding in one of my nails, but I was going to be late for meeting up with friends for dinner so I just had to go. She walked me to the cashier and announced my total was $65. For a fill and gel?? I could see if she did actual nail repair but she didn't. And yes, I should have asked how much it was first, but I've just never been to any standard nail salon anywhere else (NYC, Philadelphia, Ft. Lauderdale, other DC salons, Chicago, Dallas, Austin, or even when I was in London or Amsterdam) and been quoted that amount. I was also sticker shocked because it took TWO HOURS. My friend who came with me got Phillip who was FAST and did a perfect job on her nails. She even had to get major repairs done and new tips put on most of them. Yet hers were done at the speed of lightening. She had a pedicure done before hand (I didn't) plus she had a bit of a wait time, yet we were done at almost the same time. I got the feeling Izzy was new to doing nails which is fine, but I feel the salon should charge a cheaper price for newbies who do sub par work and you should be warned of this before hand. This is a mixed review so here goes: What I appreciate about this place: the people are friendly, prices reasonable/competitive (they offer discounts if you pay cash and come on off peak days, great array of colors in all types and great hours (they close at 10 many days!) What I don't like and why I can't go back: most of the nail techs are decent but I'm picky. Too many of them polish clear coats in a sloppy way, as if the clear doesn't build up. So when gel polishes grow out, it's a problem and makes peeling/lifting easier. Second issue: they're slow as hell!!! Tonight, I got a regular mani with a gel polish removal and it took 1.5 hours. Even though I had an appointment, they didn't start the polish removal until 10 minutes in (third problem: starting late), then it took 16-20 minutes before someone came to remove the foil and before I know it, 1.5 hours later when I'm walking out. The quality of the manicure isn't high enough and my time too valuable to trek across town. I'm in search of a new place to go! read more

I love this nail shop. I've been going for nearly a year. Finally a place where I can get my nails done that'll last me almost a month without chipping. They take their time to do flawless work. Great customer service. I try a new person each time and I'm always pleased. Most recently I had Nancy do my nails and she did a great job! She was neat and efficient. I'll be happy to have her do my nails again. Oh and let's not forget: free champagne with your nails! Def give them a shot if you're in the dc area looking for excellent service. When you move to a new neighborhood, it's a real struggle to find a new nail salon. You know you'll go often enough that it's worth shopping around -- but the problem with shopping around is the risk of cuticle infections, chipped polish, too short massages (ok, first world problems). But once I found Enchanted, I was done shopping. It's a huge place so there's never much (if any) of a wait. They're open late at night. They've got a large selection of high quality polish that hasn't been overly thinned. They offer you a glass of wine. And they have a cute dog Essie (how great a name!) running around carefully not stepping on your newly polished toes. Bonus points all around. And then on top of all that, every person I've had there does a truly excellent job on nails, gives a great massage, and the polish lasts! Note -- it's a $2 discount if you pay in cash, and it's an extra discount on Mon, Tues, and Wed. My only complaint, and by "complaint" I'm bring in the first of the first world problems, too limited a selection of up-to-date truly trashy magazines like US Weekly, which are the real reasons you go for a mani-pedi. read more

I so looked forward to having a relaxing time. Getting a mani and pedi was my reward for making some milestones. (Yeah!) I initially looked into Elizabeth Arden in downtown DC, but opted not to because I want to show more respect to my wallet. I read the reviews here -- most are outstanding, while a few are screaming disenchantment. I took my chances, and yes.. now I'm among the disenchanted. A word to the wise... take these negative comments to heart as they reflect my reality as well. It's possible more have felt the same, but haven't yelped about it. The service is by far the worst I've ever experienced! The staff are extremely unfriendly. (I think Kanye West is more pleasant and smiles more than Enchanted's staff). Technicians are in a rush, gossipy, and unfocused. My mani and pedi was jacked up by two different people. There were scratch marks and obvious gaps in nail polish color. I seldom complain, but this needed the manager's attention as the people who committed the errors weren't able to fix it -- despite being easy to fix (I fix this stuff on my own). He got a senior staff member to correct it but not without some high voices and commotion that was awkward. The entire salon looked over. Nice. Believe it or not, the "fixer" did a rushed job too. During her 30 minutes of corrective surgery, it dawned on me that the staff are more enchanted to get people in and out of their seats...but not to make them pleased. I'm off to Paris Alexander or Elizabeth Arden's next time. Both spas have amazing friendliness and superior/quality service. I learned my lesson the hard way. Fellow Yelpers... I hope you enjoy your mani and/or pedi -- just know that you'll just have to go elsewhere to enjoy it. read more

How many nail salons have you been to that are open till 10 pm (and they will stay open longer if you're still waiting for your nails to dry at 10:15!), have free tea/coffee/cupcakes AND wine, almost never make you wait, have super friendly staff, puppies generally keeping you entertained AND do a great job with your nails? I have only been to this nail salon a few times but I really like it. I'd seen it forever and finally decided to stop in. Vivian did my mani/pedi and OMG she's amazing!!! She took her time and did a wonderful job. It's hard to find a good manicurist in the age of tips and gel. But she was amazing. Her massage while doing my pedicure put me to sleep!! Just what a single mom of three needs occasionally. In regards to the shop, the free champagne, mimosas, water, etc is a great touch and everyone is so friendly and the salon is clean. I don't live in this area of the city but I've driven back over here a few times bc I really enjoyed my services rendered by Vivian as I'm a bit OCD about my mani/pedi. I also had a gel mani by her on one of my recent visits and it last three weeks while I was on vacation. I was very impressed. read more

But then my technician did a beautiful job with my gel nails. They also lasted me quite a few weeks which is unusual for me. Apparently closing at 8:00pm really means closing at 7:15. They can't fit you in for anything if you arrive at 7:30 (apparently their pedicure people leave at 6:00pm!). They also double charged my card when their credit card machine was down and it took several calls to get a refund (a pretty simple process at most stores). I used to like Enchanted Nails and was a loyal customer, but these past two experiences have changed my mind. read more

I really wanted to like this place but the services I received were definitely subpar. After relocating from LA to DC, finding a good nail salon has been high on my list of priorities. After reading the reviews for Enchanted I was so excited to give this place a try but overall it was a huuuuuge disappointment. I received a gel manicure & pedicure for $65. I was so disappointed with both! The water was lukewarm for my pedicure, my nails and toes were not filed evenly and the nail polish on my toes was applied sloppily. I could have done a much better job myself. I am meticulous when it comes to my nails (I get them done 2x per month and always look forward to salon days) but the technician who assisted me did not pay attention to detail at all and I was not pleased with the service I received. I have been receiving salon services for over 10 years and this was one of my most unpleasant experiences. I may try this place again if I receive one of the better technicians but after my awful experience it will probably not be anytime soon. I've been to Enchanted Nails three times and overall I'd give them two stars. Generally, the service is quick, but after one visit I ended up with a manicure that chipped rather quickly. I still thought it was nice enough to give another try but I had a horrendous experience today. Although it was a Monday and empty when I arrived, I was poorly treated and ignored when two customers came in to complain about chipped nails. My attendant neglected to put a clear coat on my nails, or to complete my pedicure by assisting me with saran wrap (I had to do this on my own). I think she was annoyed that I didn't pay before my service was completed. Either way, I found the service abrupt and won't be returning. I would give one star, but the first time I visited I had Vee, who was EXTREMELY pleasant and did an excellent job. If you do visit, request an appointment with her. read more
