Husband and wife team Anne and Eugene who have been part of the Park Slope 7th ave shopping strip for over 20+ years...I don't know of many mom and pop local businessses in the intimates/apparel industry do that! Great store if you know your mid to high end lingerie brands brands, and they have the top ones like Felina, Natori, Hano, Chantelle, Bali, Barely There, Josie, Calvin Klein, Oscar de La Renta to name a few... Plus if your kid is into gymnastics or dance, they also sell ballet shoes, Danskin leotards, leggins and tights. They ahve a large selections of tights and leggings for women too. 3 stars only because their stock of "socks" that are regular is few. However, the shop owner was very helpful. If you need a quick pair of tights head on there. Average price is $20...sometimes getting to Target is a pain so this is a quick fix. read more

This is a very specific review about the old Asian man who works in there. I just can't bring myself to shop at Encore any more because of this grumpy old man. Let me be clear: I have been a customer at Encore boutique for years; they have a good range (esp for workout clothes and Yummie Tummie and a good stock of Spanx and tights and seasonal things, although it's kind of pricey). The store is run by an Asian couple (I assume). The wife is lovely, always smiley, always remembers me, really happy to see me. The husband (again, I assume), is one of the nastiest customer service people I've come across. Today I was after a very specific thing because I couldn't be bothered going in to the city for it, and yes they had them in stock; but here's what went down: I walked in, was greeted by the smily Asian lady, asked if I needed help. I said what I needed and she went over to the area where the stock was. Within seconds this bastard of a man had physically intimidated his wife so she was effectively withdrawn to the back of the store, and he stood in front of the area where the stock was, took out the 3 items of what was available, looked me up and down for a minute and pointed at the items and practically shouted, "come HERE!", "THERE!". He laid the items on the counter and watched me like a hawk while I perused them, distracted of course by the absolute nonsense of his communication style. After looking at the front and back at the packets, I looked up at him (who would not meet my eye contact), and said directly to his face, "I would have bought something from you but you should learn to be nicer to people, or you are going to lose business. Your wife is lovely. You should take a lesson from her". He started to open his nasty mouth and try to argue with me, something like "I wasn't...." but by that stage I'd turned my back and walked out. I am a BIG supporter of local businesses, and I loved going in there occasionally and overspending on a thing or two. But I just can't set foot inside that cramped little store and deal with the completely unnecessary rudeness by that grumpy old man. His poor wife, it makes me want to bring her flowers every day to have to put up with THAT. What a douche. read more

This store has been here for over 20 years and owned by the same sweet couple! they sell tons of undergarments, sexy and non sexy and everything from sexy lingerie to every day pajamas. Bras and panties are behind the counter since its a small store, but they are more than happy to help you. They also sell casual tops and slacks and a lot of dance wear and work out clothes. large selection of Hue and Hot Sox socks and they sell Spanx, regular pantyhose and a nice selection of tights. they also sell some jewelry. First time shopping at this little gem. Never wandered in before, as the window displays are more than a bit confusing. Dance attire for my toddler, AND higher end lingerie? Interesting marketing mix! Given it's Park Slope, it's not that odd, I guess. Both owners were present, and and both were polite and helpful. Anne? helped me decide on which of the three pieces I was considering, and gave details about fit and fabric, without being judgmental about size, or reason for my purchase. They have great collections of socks,tights, lingerie, girls ballet tutu, slippers, etc. It is my regular go to place for tights, my daughter's ballet outfit/ shoes, cami. You must try Italian made cami, Calida. So thin but so warm. Can't live without it. read more

I bought a pair of Spanx here as my 'something new' for my wedding (dress was used and shoes were blue!). They were ripped when I opened the package, but I had nothing else to wear so I wore them and the hole got larger and larger as the day progressed. (It was a lovely experience!) I called Spanx repeatedly and got nowhere so I decided to go back to the store to see if they could help. I never asked for a refund, I only asked for contact information for Spanx. The 'nice lady' that others have commented on is insane if you go to her with a problem. Any harmless questions, such as 'how do you contact the company as a business customer?' was met with screaming and childish antics. She repeatedly came out from the back, screamed at me and then ran away. It was ridiculous. Then she started shouting at me that I was a liar from the back of the store. She refused to listen to what I was saying or asking. The husband was somewhat more helpful and at least gave me a couple of phone numbers, but that woman is horrific. She kept screaming at me that I can't return them because I wore them and that I'm a liar and that I ripped them. Then she went crazier and insisted that there has NEVER been a problem with the spanx EVER and they've been selling them for 30 years! (Spanx has been around about ten years). Her insanity makes me wonder if she knowingly sold me a damaged item. Beware if you prefer to deal with rational people. read more

It's a very unassuming store with a lot of stuff you might struggle very hard to find online or at other stores. They have lingerie, but also lots of kimonos / sleepwear, lots of lounge pants, lots of linen / flax pants for summer. Anyone who wants sort of essentials that major labels always screw up when you hunt on line because they got a trend wrong, you'll find here without the item being screwed up. Just recently I got white cotton drawstring summer pants, black linen cropped pants, and a very flattering gray and black DKNY top. I got four items for just over $200.00, which averages to $50.00 an item. Not terrible considering all four (including a t shirt bra) consist of basics I'm going to constantly wear during the summer, that work with everything I already own. At the very end of my shopping I saw all the kimonos hanging on the wall, so will need to come back for those. They know the neighborhood, which is easy fit, a little crunchy, and not on the nose. read more
