I immediately signed up for their free class. Scheduling it was super easy, it's all online and you choose the class/time that works for you. They have different types of classes, I chose the Signature, which is the one they recommend for beginners. It features a combination of rowing & floor exercise so you alternate between the rowing machine and using free weights. This works on muscle tone, mobility & alignment. Yay for an all-in-one workout! They send text and email reminders which are extremely helpful. An overview video included explains proper form. I felt like I knew what to expect before the class. It's recommended to arrive 15 minutes early so you get all situated. Being late is a permanent character flaw of mine so of course I got there at the nick of time. Madison, at the front, was so welcoming and understanding. She got me set up right away. This class was taught by Spencer, who was also super welcoming and willing to help. He asked me if I had rowed before and proceeded to give me ALL the tips for proper body form while rowing. I kept repeating the progression in my head: catch, drive, finish, recovery. Coordination is no joke! I love that even though it felt intense, it's low impact, so it's great for those that have knees issues. After the class, you get an email of your workout summary with all the stats. The only reason why I don't give them 5 stars is because it's not very affordable. Wish it was!

Because Tulsa has a log of gym options and Genesis promotes itself as a Luxury gyms. This might of been true when it first opened but is no longer so. Is not that they lack amenities but the gym is starting to look a bit run down for a luxury gym and they try to do too many things and some of them are not well done. Lots of equipment that is starting to show wear and Luxury gyms usually replace the equipment if they can't fix it up to a high standard. More is not better a prime example of that is their Functional fitness room, it's disorganized, dirty lots of equipment there that just doesn't make sense or fit their market share Accessories, totes and stuff thrown all over the gym makes it look disorganize and is unnecessary. Now the good: Genesis is quiet space, members are polite and everyone stays to themselves. They offer a packed class schedule and Personal training have a decent selection of Free weights, Machines and Cardio equipment. Their market is for the Master bodybuilder, seniors, parents that need childcare that want to keep to themselves and just want to get their work in. Well appointed Locker rooms with showers are well kept. Shot out to the new guy at the front desk is polite, eager to learn and grow and is hard to find employees now in days. My hat of to the guy who cleans in the morning, he's always hard work moving fast and running all over the gym getting the job done. Everyone I interacted with was polite and nice.

There are never any towels available for the workout areas or the locker rooms. The steam room is rarely cleaned, has debris on the floor, and either doesn't work or scalds your skin. Additionally, this is the second year in a row where the AC doesn't work, making it extremely uncomfortable to workout. I would not recommend this gym to anyone looking for a comfortable, clean, and well-maintained workout environment. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

They'll spend money on fake plants, yet won't fix what's needed (this applies to other issues as well) - so far this summer, the outside "hot tub" is either disgusting, jets don't work, flooded with kids under 12 (there's a rule against that), or it's closed off - when it's busy, you'd swear no one in the greater Tulsa area is going to any other gym at that moment - it's succumb to the "Premium" disease. Some things you can't do unless you pay more - and a general membership is already pricey - if you want to play pickleball - good luck. They change the schedule of when the courts are available for whatever types of players. If it's free play, you might end up waiting awhile before you play again. There's only 3 courts. That's all for now. I'm sure there's other issues. Those are just from my lens. Two stars simply because it has so many services. Think "Costco" of gyms. The heat helps loosen your muscles, leaves you feeling refreshed, and adds an extra layer of challenge to the workout. I do miss it, though I'm at a different gym for the time being. One of the things I loved most about Hotworx is the convenience--you simply book your session through the app, head to your private sauna room, set the temperature to your preference, and follow the workout displayed on the screen. I usually went early in the morning since I often had the room to myself. The studio is open 24/7, and while staff have set business hours, you can always access the building with your phone. Occasionally, they even provided essential oils to enhance the atmosphere, which was such a nice touch. Before entering the sauna, you'll need their special yoga mat (shoes stay outside), and there are cubbies to store your belongings. Beyond the saunas, there's also a weight room so you can round out your training with strength exercises. The location is well-equipped with showers and a separate bathroom, making it easy to work out and freshen up without rushing home. The staff and members were always welcoming, which gave the studio a real sense of community. They also host workshops on proper technique as well as fun social events like block parties. I loved being a part of it and hope to return when it fits my budget again. If you've ever been curious, I highly recommend giving Hotworx a try. They usually offer your first session free, and they'll even provide the mat so you can experience the workout the way it's meant to be.

I used to spin an aggressive amount before my pregnancy with my almost 4-year-old, and have really abandoned spin since about January 2019 when I was feeling way too pregnant. I actually met Rachel at the co-working space I am a member at and she invited me to come spin with her class sometime. I did not realize she meant that it was HER class that she led. She does a great job of working with a group of folks with an array of skills and experience. Eventually, I'll bite the bullet and get a membership. I live super close to the south Tulsa location, and my girl Rachel doesn't reach down there often. I know I'd find someone there who I love, I just really appreciate her specifically as a spin instructor and the energy and positivity that she radiates in her classes.

I'm glad I forced myself to go. I had such an amazing experience. The instructor and front desk employee welcomed me as soon as I walked in. I mentioned it was my first time in and they made sure I got all set up before the 9am class so I could join. There was pre-planning I had no clue about! The front desk staff has a screen with all the available bikes and asked me which one I preferred (there's probably about 30 divided in 3 rows). My first instinct was to choose one in the back row so I could hide but before I could answer, the instructor, Ashlee, suggested two spots on the middle row to make sure I had a good view of her to follow along. This was so thoughtful, especially because she went inside to make sure she had picked the best one for me. Const (not sure if this is how their name is spelled) helped me choose the right cycle shoes - they have special shoes that clip-on the bike! She also assigned a locker for me to place my jacket, cell and other belongings. The bike has a space for your water bottle so you can bring that in. They also have towels - definitely grab one, you'll most likely need it! The cycle space itself is almost dark, there's little light by design, I think so everyone feels comfortable. Const walked inside with me to show me how to clip-on and set up the bike before hand (it has to be at the right height according to your own body). The class itself was so upbeat and high energy! Ashlee was super encouraging and it felt like cycle therapy for sure. I'm used to low intensity cardio so it definitely hit my body hard. The only reason why I'm not giving it full stars is because the membership is a bit pricey for me. I will definitely be back.

I want to share my experience at Genesis Fitness Center South Tulsa Oklahoma so other members can…read moremake an informed decision. Staff conduct: I personally witnessed behavior from staff toward clients and other employees that felt inappropriate and made people visibly uncomfortable -- behavior that, in my view, crossed the line into harassment. This is not something I'd expect from a professional fitness facility. Facility maintenance: The equipment has clearly not been well maintained or replaced since Genesis took over ownership several years ago. The air handlers seem to be under repair on a near-constant basis, and I've noticed multiple signs of water leaks around the facility. I can't confirm what's causing them, but the visible water damage raises real concerns about air quality and potential mold, and I think it deserves a proper inspection. Loss of trainer: A master trainer I had been working with and was very satisfied with was recently terminated without any explanation offered to clients, which disrupted my training plan. Billing and refund practices: When I signed up, I wasn't asked to sign a contract, and I paid all fees in cash/card at the front desk without ever receiving a written receipt. At no point was I told the payment was non-refundable. When circumstances changed and I requested a refund, I spoke with Travis Wood in admin, who refused outright with no willingness to discuss the situation. Given everything above -- the lack of documentation, the refusal to refund, and the state of the facility -- I'd encourage anyone considering this Genesis to get everything in writing before paying, and to think carefully before committing.
