Fun gym to go to for rock climbing! My wife and I like to go here for bouldering (rock climbing without ropes or harnesses), which is a tiring but rewarding full-body work out. There are various bouldering routes (known as problems using the V system/scale from low to high numbers) that are friendly to beginner and intermediate level climbers, and there are harder routes for more advanced level climbers. The staff members are very friendly and treat all guests with respect. The course instructors also give helpful advice that can improve your skills. Prices are very affordable whether you get a day pass, membership pass, or shoe/chalk/gear rentals. It's also kid and family friendly with group deals available. We are here again at Climb Tulsa for my son's 7th week in his course and practice. The teaching/coaching staff are very patient with the students. It doesn't matter the age of the climb student. Everyone is treated with integrity, patience, and trust. I am very glad my son took this course for his climbing interests. If you want to connect with like minded folks or enjoy the thrill of climbing, this is the place to do that. They also have memberships and day passes. You can rent or buy your climbing gear. Wanted to belay for nieces and nephews. British bloke jumped to test. When I told I needed instruction, offered a class for $20. I accepted. But he didn't do anything. Waited 5 minutes said I couldn't join the class and told me I wouldn't be able to belay or take the class. Poor customer service masked by a fake British accent pretending to be proper. read more

With spring break right around the corner Climb Tulsa is a great option for parents seeking activities for your children. What I liked most about Climb Tulsa spring break class options was that they offered options for 13 + ages which is TOUGH to come by in the area. My son really enjoyed the first session, I enrolled him for an additional day. He spent 4 hours each day there, the climb gear, instructions, snacks were provided, and most importantly the environment was safe. I greatly appreciate the the staff for taking the time to offer classes during Spring Break; I highly recommend!! read more

I went to climb Tulsa for my first time! Everyone was kind and helpful and they secured me tightly so I wouldn't fall. Since it was my first time, I was a little scared at first, but as I did it it made me more confident to go higher and I knew I was strapped on tightly. The reason why I say this is because at another place that had rock climbing they didn't secure me well and I was frightened to even drop down! 100% recommend it, I also love how they have a place for children to climb and if they fall, they have mats on the bottom just in case they were high up! read more

Really nice climbing gym staff is really helpful and know what there talking about. There's a nice bouldering area upstairs and they change about 1/3 of them out each week so you have 3 weeks to try all of the boulders on the new area. They also have a nice top rope and lead climbing area along with a few auto belays they switch these around the same amount as the bouldering area. In addition to that they also have a speed climbing area and a nice training area with about 8 different hangboards as well as a moon board and a campus board. And for beginners they have a nice area upstairs with some auto belays and some rock textured areas. They also have a nice store in the front where they sell harness's, climbing shoes books and just other climbing stuff In general. Overall a really nice climbing gym would definitely recommend. read more

I visited climb Tulsa the other day. My daughter was the one who was doing the climbing. The facility was clean and the staff was friendly. They tell you that you shouldn't walk under climbers or be in their "space". For safety reasons. Well I guess rules don't Apply to everyone. I noticed a climber had brought her little one. While she was climbing the wall, her little one was crawling all over the place including underneath climbers and in their landing space. So I went to the desk and mentioned it to the staff. His reply "Oh, ok let me check because there is a couple of people we allow to have their little ones here. Because they are regulars." Then went and looked and said "oh she's fine she's one of them who we allow." So if you are a regular I guess you get special treatment even if that is putting a little one in dangers way. read more

This was my first time rock climbing. And man! Was it great! I went there for a school field trip, and in our 3-hour time slot, I had reached the top on a 5.8 and a 5.9. One thing that I would add if I could, would be a victory button at the top of the wall. It is affordable, even with all the equipment included. All of the employees are kind, observant to make sure that everyone is safe while having fun, and overall amazing! The button would be my only consideration! Coming from New Heights, this place exceeded all my expectations. It's challenging, GIANT compared to the old facility. It has yoga, weights, training walls and equipment, an entire bouldering upstairs, showers, lockers, events, the list goes on. The staff is nice and friendly with a few super knowledgeable anchors that have been there a while. The facility is just outstanding, it changes frequently in rotations and varies in difficulty. Quite a nice, new, place. Because it's so nice, the prices have jumped as high as the top rope walls. Without a good membership, this can hurt the wallet if you want to climb often. Even then, the memberships are expensive. If you can afford it, this place is well worth the money with its extra incentives with the memberships. read more

I'm from Dallas, TX and maybe we do rock climbing differently at gyms, but they told us we could not climb with belays or ropes until we took a week course, learn all the knots, etc at their gym and took a series of tests. We were only visiting for 3 days, so we didn't have a week for that. In DFW, you just have to sign a waiver and all the ropes are already set up to be belayed with and they just do a 3 min refresher... So we had to boulder, which we hate. The walls weren't that great, maybe if you were belaying or lead climbing cause they are tall, but for bouldering it sucked. Too limited. read more

I first came to what used to be called New Heights back in college. I had no idea what I was doing but it didn't take long for me to realize climbing was going to become part of my life. Fast forward many years and I'm back in Tulsa and a member of Climb Tulsa. The community here is unlike any I've seen at other climbing gyms across the country. While the footprint of the gym may be small the heart and soul is huge and the with the new Climb Tulsa facility underway it's only going to get better. For those not familiar with climbing gyms the staff is incredibly helpful and offer a variety of options to get you started... day pass, bouldering, ropes course, gear rental etc.. I hate gyms, but this is an exception. This is a way to get your body moving, learn a new skill, get into shape and not even feel like it. You look forward to getting stronger, being able to learn a harder route. When you join, it's a monthly fee for membership. You can boulder as much as you want but in order to top rope, you need to take a belay class which I 100% agree that it's necessary. It takes 10 minutes if you've climbed before and if not- they are great at showing you the ropes. (Terrible pun) The routes change often which can be a good things and a bad thing. If you don't get often enough and are working on a problem, it might not be there when you go back. If you go really often, it helps because you don't get bored. I only hate how far out of the way it is. I had a membership for over a year but had to cancel because taking the time to get out there, warm up, climb, and come back took a lot out of my evenings. **Want to have a fun place for a kids party that's a little different then video games, have a small group here. Encourage kids to climb when they don't have fear and it helps them to want to be active. read more

Its a great gym to climb at. They need to expand though. Its been the same for top rope, for the past 10 years. A few things have changed (more in bouldering). The only thing I have against the gym is the day pass for climbing. I think its a little pricy which probably keeps those who really want to climb, out. However once you learn to climb, you end up with your own gear and can get a membership which is extremely cheap for a climbing gym. The staff is very professional. I have been climbing there off and on for the past 10 years and am glad how it is. I would love an expansion for the top rope area though. read more

I am a new climber and this place is fantastic. Caleb helped us out our first time and did our belay course (about 45 mins) and I haven't stopped climbing. At first I was using the day pass because I didn't want to commit to a monthly membership right away. It only took about 2 weeks before I realized how friendly and fun the staff and all the members are. If you're on the wall and trying to figure out your first move, the more experienced climbers have no problems helping you work through it. I have met someone new every time I've been. Good gym, great community of climbers. I came to New Heights because some people from work suggested it might be fun to try and got hooked fast. I'm not sure how Kate had the experience she described. Like most gyms, New Heights requires you pass a belay test to belay others on the walls. Pretty important when you've got someone's safety in your hands. I didn't have experience climbing my first visit, but my friends had passed the test, so I could climb the walls, just not belay. It was AWESOME! and I found the staff and regulars at the gym to be incredibly welcoming and generous in sharing advice. Later, I took their top rope safety course to learn to belay. It was a couple of hours and gave me the information I needed to feel confident to keep a partner safe on the walls. I'm pretty sure that if you have experience belaying, you can ask the staff to test you on belay and skip the course. Call to be sure--staff are really nice people. You may have a bit of a wait if the gym is busy with a kid's birthday party, but they'll do their best. Lots of times, the staff would connect a new climber with some regulars so that they could climb, practice belaying, and meet other Tulsa climbers. New Heights is also a great place to start if you want to climb outside. In the past, they've organized some trips to Horseshoe Canyon Ranch in Arkansas so that new climbers could get some outdoor climbing experience and to connect new folks and more experienced people. Hope they'll keep doing that, but ask around the gym, and you're sure to find people who are headed out to climb. Day passes are not cheap, but if you go and find yourself hooked, the membership is a great deal. It pays for itself if you go more than a few times in a month. Climbing is a great workout, a great way to relax with something entirely different than your day to day work. It's a new challenge each time, and I'm grateful to the people I met at New Heights for showing me that. If I were in Tulsa still, I'd definitely go again. Give it a try! read more
