I've had a few root canals done in my past, one very unpleasant and a couple that were desperate attempts to save the teeth. My prosthodontist had no reservations recommending Dr. Jensen for a needed root canal in preparation for a couple of implants next to the said tooth. What a blessing Dr. Jensen is to the profession of dentistry, in particular to Endodontics. The whole experience was customer service extraordinaire. The receptionist was a delightful, engaging, comedic, expectant mom. They hadn't received the x-ray imaging from the lab and had to do them again in their office at no charge. Every step of the way was professional courtesy, with Dr. Jensen being the epitome of excellence. She explained in detail the root canal in question, what needed to be done and that her aide (who took all the imaging) was also training a promising young man in all aspects of the instruments used and the procedure steps to aide Dr. Jensen. Truly a respectful, caring learning experience. Dr. Jensen approach in providing pertinent information, her personal care, her mastery of her craft, from Novocain, drilling, cleaning and filling the tooth back to normalcy with exceptional skill, was soothing comfort. And, delightfully, during the procedure she would softly hum a soft tune for a few seconds...what comfort and smiles she provided. My dentist referred me to Walnut Creek Endodontics for a root canal. I was thrilled I got an appointment the next day with Dr. Sahar Dadvand. Upon arrival, I was greeted right away by the staff. I noticed the office has a coffee/tea station and bottled water, which is a nice touch for their patients. The office is modern with advanced technology. I knew immediately I would be in great hands. I met with one of assistants named Nancy who took me down the office to take a 3D imagining of my teeth. It was an easy process. Francisco, Dr. Dadvand's assistant, made sure I was comfortable. He gave me pillows for my neck and back, and dark glasses for my light sensitive eyes. Since I walk with a cane, the dental room is equipped with an x-ray machine. This is a nice accommodation from getting up and moving from room to room. You can rest in your dental chair while getting x-rays in the same room as your procedure. Dr. Dadvand arrived in the room and greeted me. She explained the procedure. She was very professional and understanding. She has a calming voice which made me feel at ease. The procedure took longer than expected. I am glad Dr. Dadvand took her time to make sure the root canal went perfect. The only thing that may be uncomfortable were the shots. Once you are numb, the procedure was painless. I highly recommend this office. You will be in great hands. read more

6 weeks ago I spoke to their office manager for the Lafayette location and asked them to get a preauthorization for what they say they needed - a 3D scan - before scheduling the dental work. They committed to doing it. Today (11/18/25) I called because it's now 6 weeks, and I want to get the work done this policy year, and they did nothing. They told me it would be another 4-6 weeks to do it now. Then they informed me it was a courtesy for them to do it in the first place. The intake person said they "could just bill us in full and leave us to chase insurance coverage." I mentioned that I was surprised about their lack of understanding as dentist already greatly overbill for their work. I mentioned theirs was a service industry and the cavalier attitude really was off-putting. The receptionist told me she worked "many different jobs" and this was her normal operating procedure. No apologies at all they wasted 4-6 weeks of my time waiting for a pre-authorization that was never requested. This was, by far, the worst experience yet with a dental professional. Terrible experience Came in to be diagnosed with a cracked root, asked if she could look at a report in 2018 and she said she could only to turn around and and become all doubtful after waiting 2weeks + she pretty much told me she could tell me if another provider should have been able to Diagnose it but she would have to see the report because she was so sure this could not be mistaken as. Crack . When I sent her the report if the doubt about my crack she totally flipped flopped in me an tolde me she can't tell me anything when if she she didn't want to get involved she could have told me she didn't want to see the report but to agree to it and then tell me she can't tell me anything is just chicken shit because she seemed so willing to help be careful they all work together and refer you to one another and will all cover each others asses this cover up harm to patients !!!! BEAARE She responded partially to the report but doesn't tell me if the guys should have known or not and that she can't interprets what he says but it clearly in the report how uncertain he is but yet she's so sure so I was just trying to figure out where the kid alignment happened how is she so sure and was so unsure she said it's based on the type of machine they use and she's had to see what it was and when I sent it she just ghosted me and left me for dead but she still sure it's cracked and needs to be removed but can't tell me if this other doctor should have been as sure as she was Colder than a shoulder in Chicago read more

Shout out to Dr Jensen and staff for the great treatment I received today for a preparation for a root canal I was beyond apprehensive going in I was shaky too They were all very comforting I had lots of swelling so they couldn't do the procedure today but (sorry if this is gross) the drained soooooo much of the swelling fluid that got so much worse last night. That I've never gone through before. When she started to go into my mouth I did the sign of the cross and asked for Gods blessing and strength. The dental assistant caught that and asked if I wanted a weighted blanket to help me be calm. I was cared for so completely there. Outstanding care and service! As I was leaving the office right after having a root canal done, I asked them; do you guys do any other dental work? ..because this entire process from evaluation to the procedure was so good, I would want them to handle practically any other dental work I needed in the future. Endontics is what they do exclusively. I'm not sure how root canals got their bad rap. But, know that if Dr. Jensen and her staff had done all the root canals in history at the high level they cared for me, it wouldn't surprise anyone if there was waiting list to get into her office. I have had several root canals in my day.. let met tell you with Dr. Joanne Jensen I was so fascinated with the process, I forgot to ask for Nitrous. Pretty unbelievable huh ? My particular circumstances had me returning for several visits, none of which reflected the professional treatment I received. Buyer beware! I was referred to her bc I had extreme pain in my jaw after having had recently completed 35 rounds of radiation on my head/neck area. She listened to my concerns and was sympathetic. However, she did take another 3D X-ray (more radiation) and even though the results did not reveal an infection and/or were inconclusive, she recommended a root canal anyways (imagine that). After a painful procedure and killing what turned out to be a healthy tooth, it was not the source of the pain. So I basically had an "exploratory root canal". Dr. Jensen couldn't look me in the eye afterward and still proceeded to charge me $1,200. I believe she did what she thought was right but buyer beware - she does root canals all day for a living so one might take her advice with a grain of salt and seek a 2nd opinion before committing yourself physically and financially. If your a cancer patient or have any other pre-existing conditions, recommend you go to an endodontist and/or dentist who specializes in oncology patients (UCSF). read more

Heartless. Claims to care about the "health of the tooth" but is really focused on how much work something needs vs how much she can charge. For a doctor who claims to want to save people's teeth, you do sure are comfortable with not even trying to save a tooth instead just sending a patient back to have it pulled. Dr. Jensen performed a root canal on my tooth today and I wanted to take a moment to write a review. I want to first state that I have always been extremely anxious to have any dental procedure done, and had never had a root canal. I had my procedure done this morning, and now (about 9 hours later) have very little pain/tenderness in the tooth area! Dr. Jensen and her staff are exceptional care providers who went above and beyond to make my first root canal experience a smooth process. Dr. Jensen has a personable bedside manner, explained the process very well, and took extra measures (sedatives, nitrous gas) to ensure that I was comfortable for the procedure. I think we all dread the word "root canal".I was fortunate to be referred to Doctor Jensen. She is professional, friendly and reassuring. She explained the procedure in detail which went very smoothly and with minimal discomfort. I was asking her opinion about a previous failed root canal by another Orthodontist. I developed severe pain with loss of hearing in my ear on the same side and wondering if there could be a connection. She did an x-ray and followed up with a scan ruling out that as a cause. Admittedly, when I learned from my dentist that I had to have yet another root canal performed I cried and felt anxiety immediately. I've tried two other locations in the Concord Walnut Creek area and both were incredibly unpleasant for one reason or another. I begged my dentist to give me More than one referral so I can try someone new. I was optimistic about Dr Joanne Jensen and I was pleasantly surprised to say I'm the best root canal yet! I know it's a weird thing to state, but she and her staff (Devin and Patty) were incredible listeners, I gave them my history and past experience and it was profound how emotionally painless and physically painless this experience was. They didn't rush, they weren't asking for my credit card while I was still anesthetized, they were generally full of care, incredible communication, empathy and consideration. Isn't that how any surgical procedure should go? If I could give higher than five stars I would because it was such a pleasant experience. read more
