From the moment you drive…read moreup to the facility, walk into the building and go to your assigned room, you can see the building is very well taken care of and nicely decorated. This is important as it shows their attention to detail. In the room, there is a lovely armoire for every patient to use for their belongings along with a nightstand, hospital bed and tray. The armoire is much nicer and larger than the usual small closet you find in most facilities. The true star of the facility are the employees. The CNA's are always quick to respond and provide you with the service you need. The LVN's who dispense the medication are equally quick to help and all of them have kind words along with words of encouragement for each patient. Unfortunately, I have been in numerous facilities and non of them compare. OakView is fine tuned and runs very smoothly. Administrative staff checks on the patients frequently to make sure all needs are met. Treatment plans are prepared by medical staff. And the social worker is very kind and extremely helpful in taking care of the patient while on the premises but also after they leave OakView. She even called me two days after my release from OakView to check on me and to see if there was any additional needs I had. I was extremely impressed by this as I had never had this happen before. Never was there a social worker that did a third of the work this woman did let alone follow through and show she cared every step of the way. OakView feels like a resort with medical assistance, not a skilled nursing facility. The food is excellent and if it's not to your liking, the chef is willing to prepare something that meets your desires. No other facility I know of does that. If and when I need to be in a skilled nursing facility again, I hope I am blessed to be able to find a room at OakView. I highly recommend it. P.S. They also have an assisted living facility.

If you are considering moving your loved one to a board and care home, I highly recommend Applegate Homes which is a family owned business with heart and soul. Their homes are immaculate with a loving and caring staff which are like family... I moved my mom there during the pandemic which was a very stressful time to say the least and after looking at over 40 homes in the surrounding area, Applegate homes was the last one I looked at and it fit all the criteria's I was looking for & the owner Irma instantly made me feel at ease and I knew that this was the perfect home for my mom. Anytime I ever had a concern about anything I would call Irma or her Daughter Cynthia who is the administrator of Applegate Homes & they would instantly calm my concerns and address any issue I had which over the past 6 yrs were very few & they always went over and above the call of duty, all the way to the end. The place seems more like a nice hotel than an elder care center, with beautiful grounds, winding paths, and even bunnies! This was the second place she was in memory care, and there is no comparison. The staff here is so caring and professional. They keep in regular touch with the residents' families, and spend a tremendous amount of time on enrichment activities with each resident. The food is excellent, and was served in a restaurant-like environment before the pandemic. Now it is catered to each room They also hosted a private birthday lunch in one of their small dining rooms for our family and my mother-in-law. Since the pandemic they have done a marvelous job of keeping residents safe. Most of the staff and management have been here a long time, and it's easy to see why.

My five stars go to Sunrise's executive director, Edith Kennedy, and the nursing and admin staff…read more They are exceptional, and I don't use that word a lot. Edith is particularly outstanding because she truly cares and is on her game with details, always wanting feedback (good or bad) to make your loved one's experience the best it can be. Now, with assisted living facilities this can sometimes be like moving a mountain. But, she earnestly tries. She's got your back. However, despite this, we are actually moving my dad to another local facility shortly due to one of Sunrise's bad qualities, horrible in fact, and that is...pricing. Again, to be found at many assisted living facilities but costs at Sunrise are higher than most...and they price differently than most. For example, when you first talk to them they speak of the rent as a flat rate. But it's not. Sunrise charges you a day rate per month. So your cost varies per month based on days of the month. The rent is better in February, September, April, June and November. But the other seven months with 31 days...all higher. And surprise...there are more months with 31 days in a year so the house wins. It's a bad optic. Despite the costs, they serve generic soda vs. Coke and Pepsi brands. Small yes, but at these prices...bad optic. They only have transportation offered 2 days a week while most other places provide 7 days. Again, for what they charge...bad optic. And one other thing. No matter what month you move in, your rent will be increased come January by 5-10%. The contract makes it sound like it's a random event, but it happens every year like clockwork and you will be notified 60 days in advance. And remember, you have your highest leverage to negotiate (the move-in fee, etc.) before you sign the contract. So with Sunrise, the people are terrific. The prices are not. And in the end, it's a shame that a business that exists to provide care often comes across as caring more about the money.

It was getting so bad we had to take her the hospital a few times. One of this times they discharged her to Camarillo Health Care center. She wasn't in there for more than 10 minutes and she wanted out. The place smelled there were people wandering the halls people screening and no one around to help. Well as it turned out we only had to go to that facility because Mom had advantage pro health care HMO insurance and the choice of post care was very limited. At the hospital they said if we cancel her Advantage pro and then she will just have Medicare A+B and with her medi cal she would be covered well. So we got lucky that we got this all fixed and she was admitted into TOPA. After the experience in Camarillo we were so thankful to be near the house here in TO. First of all the place is clean. It doesn't smell. The staff is nice and helpful. So I don't know what happened with everyone else here on Yelp but they must have been picky cause in the world of post care this place is nice! After her stay of 30 days I heard no complaints. She said the food was good and they had planned events. Like a mariachi band for Hispanic heritage month and taco Thursdays. On her way out everyone was saying good bye and hugging and kissing. So suffice it to say I recommend TOPA wholeheartedly.

The wait times for getting help is very unreasonable- 45 min to use the bathroom is unacceptable. My dad came out of there worse off than when he arrived - during his stay he contracted a very contagious infection and came home with an undocumented ulcer, which has to be treated by a wound care specialist. The rooms are very old- 3 people to a room and 6 people using one bathroom, bathrooms are not sanitized between uses. 1 shower in the hallway, nurse couldn't tell my father if it had been cleaned and sanitized before they wanted him to use it, so he refused. I highly suggest you check out this facility before sending a loved one there.

Ivette (Memory Care Director): Ivette is incredible. Her expertise and accessibility are unmatched. She truly listens, keeps me posted, and I genuinely feel she keeps a personal eye on my dad. She is a kind soul who ensures his quality of life is excellent. Ian (Health Services Director): A true med-tech extraordinaire. Juggling medications is a massive task, and Ian is a pro who stays on top of every detail behind the scenes. Tonya (Activity Coordinator): I call her the "Cruise Director." She has the utmost patience and creativity, engaging residents at all different levels with physical activity and brain games. Her kindness radiates, and the weekly excursions are a wonderful touch. The Care Staff: I wish I could name them all in this post. This is a hard job, and they are amazing. I feel so lucky knowing they love my dad and made it a priority to get to know him. It didn't take long for them to figure out he loves to sleep in, needs his paper in the morning, and is always down for anything with chocolate! I pop in all the time and can always count on them. If you are reading this, you're likely navigating a difficult chapter that nobody prepares you for. You will doubt yourself, and the transition is hard. But the peace of mind here is real. The best testament I can give is a text my dad sent me the other night: "They are making me hot chocolate with marshmallows. I love this place! " The Ridge is secure, safe, and fun. When I leave my dad, I don't worry--and that is worth every penny. Yes, they are still working some things out as a newer facility, but don't let that push you away. Everyone has to start somewhere, and this is an opportunity you shouldn't overlook. Come visit--my dad would be the first to tell you how happy he is to call this place home.

ALL living areas and bedrooms are spacious with private bathrooms too! All meals are freshly prepared with fruits and veggies from the garden The parties are always fun with great food and live entertainment! This has been a dream place for mom and allows me to rest peacefully knowing she's safe and well cared for FYI I am a nurse with high expectations and believe me Park Vista exceeds them ALL!!!
