The food at Energy fuel is pretty good but not amazing. There are too many things on the menu to try to review individual dishes, but many seem to share certain components. The grilled chicken is excellent, though a bit saltier than I would expect from a "healthy" restaurant. The vegetables in the wraps seem very fresh. The guacamole is nice and tangy. The smoothies are really good, but they seem to run out of skim milk more often than they should. They do have a couple of interesting proteins, Bison and Ostrich, which I have yet to spring for, so that gives them an edge over your average wrap and smoothie joint. What isn't as good is the service and the general layout of the place. They make a lot of smoothies, which are inherently a take-a-way food but there isn't really any place to line up for ordering or to wait for food. So when they are busy, there are a lot of people standing around and it's hard to get past everyone waiting for food to get to the counter. It also takes a log time to get one's food, I assume because they have so many delivery orders. read more

I love their juices and their bison burger (with the 100 cal sandwich thin, avocado add-on) is 4.0 star worthy, for those two alone. However, the sweet potato fries always show up WAY overcooked, the avocado salad I ordered the other evening with falafel topping was underwhelming. The falafel topping was so dry, it was kind of inedible. Delivery is fast and friendly. Stick to the two things they are good at -- bison burger and any of the juice/smoothies. This place is horrible for delivery and has bad customer service. We ordered dinner at 7:50pm... By 9:15, it still hadn't been delivered so we called them and got a pretty apathetic/unhelpful response. Finally arrived at 9:30 and of course the food is completely cold. My chicken wrap is fine I guess, nothing special, but my fiancé said his falafel was the worst he's ever had: "My mouth is getting drier as I eat it!" If I have my daughter or her friends around, I usually have to hide this or else I'll come back to an empty bowl after stepping into the corner store. Came in a few days ago with my boyfriend and it was awesome! Amber was the one working and she was so nice and helpful! We had only been there a couple other times, so we still had questions about the menu. She answered all of our questions and gave us recommendations. Thie review is based on service a few months ago, I can only hope they have improved! This restaurant may have good intentions but they are sloppy in service and meeting customer request and needs. I had two orders messed up by their staff. The first was the Mediterranean salad where they forgot the falafel and added baba ghanouj to my meal when I specifically told them I am allergic and will happily take more hummus. The ghanouj was all over my meal so much for my $12 meal. The second meal was Greek salad with chicken. They forgot to add the chicken and feta cheese. I called them for a delivery order at 1:10pm and at 2:45pm the order still had not been delivered. When I called, I spoke with a man named Paul who another employee said was the owner. He was very rude, offered no apology, said the order was being sent out, then hung up on me while I was asking a question. At 3:05pm The food arrived cold and the "smoothie" was room temperature. I called them again to say the order was being returned for these reasons. The employee who answered this call was also rude, offered no apology, and did not offer to send a freshly prepared replacement even though I HAD BEEN WAITING FOR JUST ABOUT 2 HOURS. This is my new favorite place. There are a lot of options on the type of food (burgers, quesadillas, energy plates, etc.) which I like. Also the smoothies are really good. My new favorite is the Energy BBQ quesadilla. It might be a little pricy compared to regular places but it's better than what you would expect for healthy food. Went to get some breakfast, it was cold and meager. I asked the cashier to give me take back my breakfast and get me a hot breakfast and not cold. He just looked at me like I was crazy and he refused to exchange my order. I asked for the manager, he said he was the manager and that he did nothing wrong. I get it sometimes you have to bring your child to work but the lack of supervision by his parent was horrible. Why would you allow your child to run back and forth on the seats while customers are coming in and see that he' jumping and running not on the floor but the seats with his shoes on( not to mention that the seats are already filthy ). So they almost killed me last month. I ordered a chocolate banana smoothie off the menu and it included, cocoa powder, banana, soy milk, and peanut butter. However, the barista made it with almond milk which I am allergic too. I saw him not use soy milk so asked him to make it with soy which is how it comes. Finally a healthy alternative in Fort Greene amongst all the new restaurants. Energy Fuel has a lengthy menu full of tasty selections to choice from anywhere from salads (huge portions) to dinner selections like grilled Salmon with brocolli and sweet potato my favorite, today that is. They also carry smoothies and juices to mix @ your liking or you can pick from the informative juicing menu they have on hand for your viewing. I used to go to the Fuel restaurant in sheepshead bay for many years, so I was really excited when they opened one up in fort greene, which is way closer to where i live. I was not disappointed! They have the BEST veggie burger ive ever gotten anywhere in NY, by a long shot. They clearly make them in house, and are not those unappetizing frozen hockey pucks that come from the grocery store. Honestly, so good. I always get it with a side of the spiced air baked fries (i love that the fries are NOT FRIED, yet they are totally yummy). To top off my meal there, i love to get a strawberry banana smoothie, which is also super yummy (strawberries and bananas are always a match made in heaven). The Banana-Nutter smoothie is also really good. Im vegetarian (8 years now) and fuel has a lot of really good vegetarian options (i just wanted to say that because for some reason another review says that they dont have alot of veggie options, which is totally just not true!) Its hard to find good vegetarian food that actually has vegetables in it (so many restaurants only have vegetarian options that consist of starches -pasta, bread, potatoes-) but fuel does a great job of offering vegetarian food that actually contains green vegetables, that also tastes really great, My boyfriend, who is a very picky eater (and is a meat eater) also loves fuel, he loves the bison burgers, and their quesadillas. Some of the other reviews complain about the wait time, but i think thats stupid because it specifically says on the menu that this is NOT a fast food restaurant, and that Fuel makes all their food fresh with every order, so it obviously is going to take some time. Whenever i go there, i normally wait about 10-15 minutes. Which I think is fine. If i wanted food ready in 5 minutes, I would have gone to a fast food place (yuck). Case in point, I love fuel and I give them 5 stars because I love their food, the restaurant is always clean, the atmosphere is very pleasant, the staff is always nice and polite, and they have a great selection.
