There's so many facets to this place, so I'll break my review up for each: I'm gonna start the review with the one big downside - we ventured out to the bison prairie on our last day and weren't going to make it back in time to check out. We called and were told we couldn't check out late. We were checking out on a Sunday and the place was DEAD all weekend. No way that many people were coming in. Anyway, it was a physical impossibility for us to get back in time. So they informed is it'd be $25/hr for each hour we were late. Mind you it was $100/night for the cabin we stayed in. Gheez. That alone cost them 2 stars. We felt like they were really sticking it to us. The unfortunate part is this stands out in our memory above the otherwise mostly positive experience. Marina - we rented a covered slip to keep our boat in at night so we didn't have to hassle with pulling it out. The slip was clean, new-ish and very well maintained. We stopped at other marinas around the lake and none were as nice as Prizer Point. The restaurant - we ate there twice. Once for dinner, once for breakfast. The food was just okay. The service was horrendous. There were only a handful of other tables each time, but if you needed something you had to go find someone to get it for you. One time I had to go to the marina counter to get a to go box. No server to be found. The cabin - we stayed in a "suite", which is pretty much like a tiny house. The beds were surprisingly comfortable and the space met our needs. It was actually quite cozy. It wasn't super clean (dusty window sills, mildewed shower curtain), but...It's a campground. It wasn't gross, but it wasn't a Marriott. I'd say it fit with my expectation, maybe even exceeded it. The property - there was so much to do, we didn't have time to do it over a 3 day weekend, but we boated during the day. It seemed clean, well maintained and everyone (others staying) were so nice. Everyone waved, said hello, etc. There are some beautiful lake views all around the property. I only wish we had more time to explore a little more. All in all, I'd say it met our expectations for a campground. We'll likely return at some point in the future, but will be sure to check out on time.

The marina is excellently maintained. Everyone around is so friendly. We just had a few hiccups. We booked our reservation the same day around noon so totally understand that it's last minute but we also didn't check in until around 7pm giving them more than enough time to ensure a clean cabin. However they didn't have our reserved cabin cleaned and the one next to it was "clean and ready" but upon getting inside we found tons of dead bugs and mold! Not just in the bathroom but also on the walls at a height where a kiddo or toddler could touch it or be exposed. To me this is unacceptable and a health hazard. We totally understand these are cabins in the woods but there were several empty units amongst us that were unoccupied and I can only hope they aren't dealing with the same level of mold. The only other thing we experienced that was negative was we rented a golf cart for $50 a day for one day but it kept dying even when the battery gauge read as fully operable. We broke down on day one and broke down again on our checkout day and had to leave the cart at another site. I'm hoping Prizer will be accommodating and comp us a future use of one day for the cart issues as I didn't request a refund but also didn't have time to resolve before checkout. The housekeeping manager and all the staff were apologetic and extremely professional which is why we will definitely still give Prizer a chance in the future. So all in all I would be wary of the cabins but everything else seemed well. Next visit we will be booking a bungalow on the water or bring an RV.

We booked in March and they did not communicate that we would not have running water on our site and we booked a full hookup site! They said it was on the website in fine print. That is not helpful or obvious. There is also a utility of some sort on premises that has an extremely loud motor!! It goes on and off 24/7. We stayed there in 2021 and it was doing the same thing. We thought it would be fixed by now and that it surely was just a problem then.....but no....it is 2026 and still doing the same thing. Not a peaceful place unless you are staying far, away from that utility. They said it was a bad motor that needs to be fixed. Well, why don't they fix it? It has pretty views of the lake but we will not be staying there again until we make sure there's no loud utility and that we have FULL hookup.

Check-in was efficient, and the staff was exceptionally helpful. Throughout our stay, we experienced no issues with the water supply, electrical, or sewage systems. Our pull-through site accommodated our 35-foot trailer without difficulty. While the Wi-Fi, as is common in RV parks, was not optimal for streaming, it was sufficient for basic phone and tablet use. The water had a noticeable chlorine taste, but our in-line filter and Brita pitcher resolved this. Paducah was conveniently located, offering a wider selection of stores and restaurants than anticipated. The campground offered various activities during our visit. Each morning, a vendor sold fresh baked goods, jams, and jellies, which we found to be very good. Mark Cope provided a BBQ wagon, and his BBQ and potato salad were also excellent. The park also hosted an ice cream social and a wine tasting by "Purple Toad Winery," a family-owned winery in Paducah, KY. There is a lake on-site where fishing is available, and bait is sold. We will certainly choose Fern Lake Campground for our next visit.

Because everything in the area was booked, a Reserve America representative let me know which sites were available here on a first come first serve basis. We arrived at about 10pm on a Wednesday night. The sites that RA told me were available were luckily empty, but blocked off by orange cones. We went to one of the camp hosts to confirm that we were ok to stay the weekend there and he approved and said to move the cones and settle up in the morning. Because it was dark, we had no idea what the surroundings of the site looked like. Luckily, the next morning, we found out it wasn't too bad. We were in site 41, which was a pull through site. That means that you don't have to back in. Usually those type of sites cost more, but we paid the rate of a regular site. Our site wasn't in view of the lake, but it was within walking distance. There was a boat ramp, floating dock, and even a beach. The entire property is so immaculate, I just had to stop and compliment a lady tending to the beach area. She was so sweet and informed me that she takes care of the entire campground all by herself. From cleaning the bathrooms, to raking the beach, it was all her. I've been to many campgrounds this year and this was the most up kept. That lady is amazing!

Not only was…read moreit a good value; Danielle (one of the owners) was probably one of the nicest people I've ever encountered at any campground. She got all of our info and told us which site we'd be in. We didn't have to give a credit card to hold the spot and when we got there, our reserve tag was on the site (site 15). She emailed me a site map so we'd know where to go. When she said it was right off the highway and behind the Marathon Station and Motel 6, I started to wonder. But she also said they were in a valley to where you couldn't hear highway noise. We finally got there and it was nice. Literally right off the highway. We took the first right after the Marathon Station and drove down into the campground (which is the only thing down the road). So truly, you could barely see the sign from the Marathon. From my window I can see the motel 6 at the top of the hill (and it looks like a nice one). It's a quaint little campground, only about 30 sites. The owners want to build a bath house and laundry facility. The roads are gravel but the sites are all concrete with a gravel approach pad. There is a dump station as well as firepits and picnic tables at most sites. But, I liked the fact that they are right next to the Livingston Trail system. The gate was closed but my dog and I could get thru/under it. Did I mention it was fall, so the leaves were beautiful. All in all this was a great little place to spend the night. It was quiet and felt very safe to us. If I had things to do in the area, I would definitely stay here for the value. We were in a 43 foot motor home with a tow vehicle and didn't have to unhook.

There is a campground/RV park in behind the bar and General Store. Very clean and well maintained. I've stayed there a couple of nights in the past. I've been told that on Tuesday's they have an amazing steak dinner. I've never been there for that, but I'm looking forward very much to trying it soon. They have…read moreover 100 camp sites, bath/shower house, pool, store, bar, live band, pavilion, they cook every weekend night. Very family oriented unless you decide to go to the bar that is. The owner Mary was very accommodating to our family and always very warm and welcoming when we stopped in the store. All the campers were the same. We were tent camping but Mary let us set up in front of a rental camper so we could use the electric to charge to boat and she was even gave us access to the camper to use the restroom and wash our dishes. She ever notified us that a neighboring camper was putting their camper up for sale and was just what we were looking for. We are now considering buying the camper and having a place up there of our own.

The water is not accessible from the sites...we were told it is a 60' cliff into the water but we didn't venture close enough to the edge to confirm that. Site 4 felt safer (since we had kids in our group) as it didn't back up to the edge. All of our sites had a little deck near the camper pad but our deck was in a little disrepair (some rotten boards). The sites had electric and water and all had fire rings, too. On the way to the sites (once we were inside the park) the road seemed overgrown and I was wondering if we were heading to the right place. It's definitely tucked away but was a peaceful, mostly empty (maybe because of the raininess of the weekend), campsite. The bathhouse was nice. The showers were a little small but the water was nice and HOT! There was a bit of cobwebs but overall, they really weren't too bad! There is a an area outside each shower with a bench and hooks for towels and clothes. The playground had tape around it (maybe from Covid?) so we didn't use that. There was a dumpster near the bathrooms. Our kids went on some trails, but we didn't go with them, so I can't comment on the trails. On the way out of town, we went to the beach. There's so much potential there but I wasn't impressed at all. It was disappointing. The sand turns into somewhat stinky mud by the time you get to the water line and overall the place looked unkept - some broken picnic tables, overgrown grass, weeds popping all over the nice concrete padded area by the bathrooms. I thought there would be showers, but there is just one outdoor shower good enough for a quick rinse. The bathrooms/shower house at the beach smelled clean (someone even came to clean them while we were there) but overall it was just not nice. The beach just seemed like a place that, in its heyday, would have been so great. Since this review is more about the campsites than the beach, I am not taking the beach into too much consideration. The couple that stays at the site are very nice. They came and introduced themselves to us and gave us a map of the trails and the park. On our way out they have us a hearty wave and asked us to come back soon. The campground was a nice place to camp. We had a great weekend!
