As others have stated the Big Stop WAS a great place to stop and eat...food was good and affordable. NO MORE. I got the hot hamburger (full sandwick) with mash for 12.99. I got instant mash, a dried up, tooney sided burger and horrible gravy. I left well over half my meal. PS - what I did eat, was later lost to the big white bowl later on. this is the second time in as many months, we waited 45 minutes plus each time for a cold meal crinkle cut fries that taste like the freezer they came out of( some food with the fires would be nice) the service was slow and unfriendly, the beans with the fish cakes were from a can and cold, the seafood platter was ( pilled high according to the menu, only pilled high with the frozen fries,3 scallops, 3 shrimp, 4 clam strips and piece of fish all pilled on a humungus piece of lettuce it was disgusting. When I asked for more coffee she made me wait until she served 3 more customers. We didn't order dessert they were out of 2 things we asked for so we didn't bother. Needless to say the tip directly reflected the experience. $0.00. We thought we would give it a second chance given its a new restaurant it will not get the third and I will not take my family there when they come in from out of town. Serious ly .....extra charge for onion in the hash browns!!!! And not even mentioned by the waitress, who asked us if we wanted them, nor was the charge seen on the menu. Never again...3rd time;s the charm...3 times too many for me and my husband...Your charge of $1.18 total for the onions has cost you business. Too bad. read more

The Irving Big Stop in Enfield is a regular stop for us around lunch time when I am travelling to Halifax from Antigonish. I had found the food to be plentiful for the price. I usually get the burgers, fish and chips, clubhouse sandwich or desserts along with a good cup of coffee which has free refills. My wife gets something much healthier with the turkey dinners, etc. I believe it is the best bang for the buck here and I would recommend it. I also found the service to be very good. read more

1st time to Enfield Big Stop since its been renovated. Used to come here a lot for the great food and hefty helpings neither of which are served anymore. None of the truckers I know would consider the amount of food served as more than an appetizer and the food quality has clearly declined. Sad to say I can't see any reason to return. read more

On April 13, 2024 We stopped by thinking we would get a nice meal and service, but unfortunately this was not the case. We did not have to wait long for a table, and our waitress tried to keep up. Unfortunately, the food was a disgrace! My partner had the fish and chips, and the batter on the fish was overcooked and held a great deal of greece and as the fish was set on top of the chips, the chips received the overflow of greece. I had the so called turkey dinner......actually left over turkey dinner. I complained immediately that the turkey was very cold like out of the fridge and my mash potatoes were also cold. The waitress offered to "heat it up"- that is so wrong....she should have offered to change my plate to a new one. I said no and when I took a further look at the turkey, the turkey had already begun changing to a green/grey colour in spots. That means it has been sitting quite a while (days) and the fact that it was icebox cold, I knew for sure it was not fresh turkey from that day. I then asked for lemon meringue pie, which when brought looked good, but again you could tell it had been sitting more than a day in the fridge as the underside and especially the backside crust were soaked and wilted, not crisp like in fresh pie. secondly my daughter had asked for apple crisp, and to her dismay they were out, then my daughter asked about another crisp they offered they were out of that too. After 5 more requests, the waitress advise they absolutely no crips left! REALLY?? While we were eating the manager, Jen came over to our table and asked if she could clear and use our used placemats on another table. I found this to be very rude & unprofessional of her to even ask. We said yes we would mind and so she didn't. In the end we asked to speak with the Manager Jen and she came over to us. When we began explaining our concerns, she became very defensive, rude and would not listen. She claimed all food was fresh daily, which it is not! and became hostile towards us. We continued to try to explain and asked her why she was so rude to us....at that point she asked us to leave the premises. read more

Beautiful building and friendly staff however the food was horrible . My Mom and I had the turkey dinner...bland hard mashed potatoes, stuffing was mashed potatoes with herbs, gravy was tasteless and the meal was warm. My daughter had the panini which had minimal filling and the cheese wasn't melted. It looked like toasted bread with grill marks but not actually from a panini grill? The kids meals were served on a side plate so everything fell off the plate when they were eating the tiny portion. The coconut cream pie had a cardboard like crust and the whip cream was, well I am not sure what it was actually. I have canned whip cream that tastes better. There was only one soup, tomato macaroni and one special, hot turkey sandwich, as is on the regular menu. read more

Poor service. Noticed few waitresses leaving the kitchen with meals (we were sitting near it). So must have had some issue with the kitchen. After an hour wait was served a lacklustre meal. If you have the choice I would recommend you eat elsewhere. read more

Happy Mothers's Day! The worst meal at our table was the Fisherman's Platter. Had the waiter come into range after I had taken the first bite or two, I would have sent it back and asked for something safer (jello, maybe?) The fish pice was inedible, the clams a little less than mediocre, 5 shrimp (have never seen smaller outside a can) and 6 little scallops which were the best thing of a poor lot. I ate the shrimp & scallops, a few clams and picked at the carrots as it was 9 hrs since breakfast. We were just thrilled to get $5 taken off the price of that $18.99 meal. thanks so much. Wish I had just sent it back and got a chocolate bar for Mothers Day dinner. read more

I stopped there Friday to get a pop & chips on our way to Cape Breton. I picked them up & headed to the counter to pay only to find a line up all the way to the door & 1 person working the counter so I put things back & left. Won't stop again anytime soon read more

The Big stop was a big disappointed today. An employee named Lauren took it upon herself to throw an offensive comment towards my boyfriend and myself almost as soon as we walked in the door. When I went back to ask if maybe she had been joking or something playful of that nature she flat out said she was not. Later when I called the Big Stop the manager apologized for Lauren's behaviour but it is important for businesses to know that the behaviour of an employee reflects on to an entire establishment. However I think the manager deserves credit for being so kind and professional about the whole thing. read more
