The dealer's estimate was very expensive! My husband found out about Adam and Hill Avenue Auto Repair through a friend and so we took it there. Adam's estimate was about $400 less than the dealer, so we took a chance and let him replace the cooling unit AND the heating unit. To get to those in a Jeep, Adam had to take out the entire dashboard and center console (he showed us photos...wow!). He replaced both units, put the car back together and now I think the air conditioning works better than when I bought it new! Owning an older vehicle (thanks economy) I have had many things go wrong with my Dodge Grand Caravan. I found Dave 3-4 years ago when I needed a repair done fast and affordably. He is honest, fixes only what needs to be done, and informs you of any additional "potential problems" you may be facing. As far as pricing goes, he ALWAYS beats any quote I have gotten for repairs. Along with minor stuff, I've had a water pump replaced, major brake repair, radiator repair, air conditioning repair/ and e-charges, and most recently (1-2015) I broke my front axle in two while trying to get out of a snow drift! Dave is always there, answers his phones, and takes care of his cutomers. Although his shop is small and a little out-dated, he deserves 5 stars in my book!

When I got there I felt like I was sitting in a 70s car shop with the wood panel walls and black and white tv and a few older gentlemen behind the counter. It seemed to be a busy location - the phone was constantly ringing - which I'm assuming is good? When I was unable to get ahold of anyone to pick me up from the repair shop, one of the men offered to call his wife so she could drive me home - how sweet! Repairs were done next day and the price was affordable. Thank you Sonomatic, I'm back to racking up another 10,000 on my POS car!

Visibility is required in order to gain the best possible understanding of what one pays for. Unfortunately, for me, Sonomatic was unable/unwilling to accommodate what is a generally accepted business practice. Although things have changed since John S. from La Grange went there (i.e. - they'll conduct a diagnostic for free now), the fact that they were quoting $1880 for a leaking solenoid pack on a transmission was extreme. Where did Sonematic get this $1880 from? (NOTE: I would later go to Mike Zoppa at Odgen Car Care. He quoted a little over $400 for the exact same service. And I only told him about the "Check Engine" light!) I asked to see an invoice showing those charges by line item (e.g. "Cost of Parts", "Services rendered", "Labor" and "Taxes"). All I wanted was justification, by specifics, of how they came to that number - as would be expected from any other established business. The associate shrugged off my direct question, referring instead to their 60 year tenure. Okay, congratulations, that still doesn't answer my question! Drifting away from the poor customer service, I would have never known about the leaking solenoid pack had I not recorded the discussions on my work phone - again, this information is not on their quote papers! A breakdown of their charges was something that I had requested prior to picking up my car. They didn't object to it at the time. However, when I went to pick up the car, they didn't have that paper ready, and were generally dismissive about not having it ready. No apologies offered, or explanations given! If a fair question about a customer concern shakes one up so, then I'm frankly surprised that Sonomatic remains in business. Eric kept my van for 1 week going over everyrhing to find the problem and researching all resources. The problem was a loose plug. This young man is so polite and so considerate. Gave me a ride home the first day and picked me up so I could go to the bank and get my van. Charged me $130.00 for sealing the plug and all his work to find out the problem. Ease of appointment: I brought my car in to check on availability, cost and how long it would take to fix the car. Brad mentioned that the wait would be about 2 weeks or so. However, he called me to inform me that he can fix my car earlier so I was able to drop it off earlier than anticipated. Cost: Average cost, Brad worked with the insurance company of the person that rear-ended me. Overall: It took 2-3 days to fix my car and they also provided me with a car wash so it looked nice and clean. I appreciated how the owner used new parts for the inside of the bumper that was badly rusted. He negotiated the costs with the insurance company even though the insurance company told him to use a used part. It's nice to have a trustworthy person fixing your car and having them fix it well with new parts vs. old/used parts. I'd recommend getting your car detailed here and will be back if I happen to need it for my car or other cars in the future.

I started making calls to find a shop to repair and value my car and bring it back to life. i found one. All Around Auto Body in Schaumburg IL. The owner had been raised in the business and had followed in his dad's footsteps. After talking with Brad, the owner, I felt he was the magician that could help me with my agonizing situation. And bottom line: He repaired my car to even better than it was previous to the accident within budget and on a timely basis. When I went back to pick up my finished vehicle he was outside my car touching up little dings that had sat there forever. I so highly recommend he and his shop not only because he did such a great job but connected on a very humanistic level and I feel I also made a new friend. 4.7 rating out of 5 is extraordinary because usually the ones who leave reviews are the unsatisfied customers. Bring your body shop issues to him. He's the man!
