I was very pleased with the lube oil and filter change I had done on my Century Buick. They inspected the fluids, air and cabin filters. They inspected the belts and hoses. The exterior vehicle inspection included the tires for wear and inflation. I was happy to have a new battery and tires that will get me through the winter of 2022. It was a learning experience on how I can keep my battery running longer if I invest in about $80 for a battery tender. From the moment we entered the lot, we were greeted and welcomed by the staff. Our vehicle was immediately accepted for review and my spouse was given a recommendation on a local taco spot in the area while we waited. Within the hour, we were contacted, issued a diagnosis and a fair quote with options to finance. Our vehicle was fixed that same day. What a ripoff. Scheduled an 8am to have them fix my sunroof. They said they'd call with a estimate. Since no call by 4, I called. Adam said he'd check with the techs. Wow, they were just liking at it and yeah, it was the motor. Charged me $116 cause "it took 2 guys a couple of hours" for the "diagnosis", but he'd call with the estimate. No call, no email. I called.."oh I'll send it again right now", even though he couldn't tell me what it said. Nothing. So I took it to another, quality shop and SURPRISE it isn't the motor at all. They've never called. A repair job at my Nissan dealer (where the car had been serviced regularly for 11 years) caused a new problem the car had never had before: a mysterious thumping sound from below while driving. The dealer kept the car for the better part of a week but was not able to successfully diagnose what was wrong. On the recommendation of a friend, I brought the car to HOLLYWOOD MOTORS for the first time to see if they could figure out what was going on. They did a thorough inspection and finally identified the problem: the dealer had installed a faulty inner tie rod when replacing the steering rack. Problem solved. The car now drives like it's new again. Kudos to RAGU for his friendly professionalism and attention to detail and to super mechanic P.R. for not giving up until the mystery was solved. Bought a used XG350 from these guys in '10 or '11. The price was $3995, but they called after my test drive saying that was a mistake and that the price should have been around $5K, closer to blue book. Seeing as I had family members who went here for years, I decided to trust that it was an honest mistake and went ahead with the sale. Biggest mistake of my life. The car had nothing but problems, including an engine mount that was completely rusted out. They had no explanation for why these repairs weren't caught before they sold the car, only high estimates for repairs which I was able to get done much cheaper elsewhere. Finally after another repair that I didn't want to deal with I traded it in to a dealership. I have no idea if their business practices have changed 8 years later, but my experience was by far the worst and most costly I have ever had with a business. read more

After my maintenance package that covered all service, oil changes, brakes, etc. expired on my wife's BMW X3 M, the dealership quoted $1,150 for front brake pads, rotors and sensors. That seemed a bit outrageous as my Mercedes was only around $780 for front brakes at the dealership and I have slotted and drilled sport brakes on that vehicle. I was hesitant taking my vehicle anywhere but the dealership for service or maintenance but after reading many positive reviews on Yelp, I took a chance. Hollywood Motors game me several more cost effective options, however I requested them to source the factory parts from BMW and out the door was a little less than half what BMW was charging. Great people to do business with; very friendly, informative and very reasonably priced. We had received multiple referrals to this place and lucky us - it's just down the street. The great thing about this place is that it is polar opposite of what I'm used to at my car dealership. The people treat you like you're an individual. They do quality work - fast. They even have a few special touches to make you feel like an appreciated customer. More about that later. My brakes were sounding horrid so I knew it was time to replace the brake pads if not the rotors as well. I also needed an alignment and an oil change. I'm sure the guys could tell I was nervous as could be when I walked in there and told them my car concerns. Although I'd brought my man, I was scared to leave my car to be inspected, fearing they'd come back and say I needed $1200 of work done. Not the case. They called me the next day to tell me what was up and said they'd be done by end of day. End.of.day. Nice! All in all I was very happy with the service. They even left a card and a York peppermint pattie on the dash as a little thank you. A few days later I received a full-on thank you note with a referral coupon for $10 off an oil change/$5 off for the person you refer. Very nice touch. More details: I called on a whim to see if they had ANY time for a new neighbor to get her oil changed. Cindy, Jeff, Adam and the mechanics were all so wonderful. They worked with me in my 2 hour window for my very needed last minute oil change before a long drive. These types of appointments normally stress me out - I always feel like I'm going to be taken advantage of, or the mechanic won't have my best interest in mind. Finding a good auto service shop is hard, it's like trying to find a good dentist. I was put to ease immediately when I spoke to them on the phone. When I arrived - I was slightly nervous I was going to be scolded for my crazy time needs - but no - they are SO very welcoming, friendly, and great to converse with. Today I called because my back tire was making a funny sound. I talked with Ragu and he said they were busy until Tuesday but inquired about the sound. After describing it to him he said that I should bring the car in for him or a mechanic to listen to the sound and make sure that my car was safe to drive. When I got there Ragu hopped into my car and within 30 ft said this definitely isn't safe let's turn around. Adam and a mechanic came out quickly to double check and we found out that my brake pad was missing. They told me how dangerous it would be to drive the car and they wouldn't feel comfortable letting me leave in my car. They dropped me off at my house and said they would get me a car later! I think I'm pretty fair when I'm critiquing any company I have done business with. And I usually wouldn't do it unless Ive had an excellent or really bad experience. The first time at Hollywood I had a pretty good experience with customer service, but thought afterwards that I ended up paying what I thought was a really high amount for vehicle repairs which mostly was covered by an extended warranty. I didn't shop it around the first time so I can't really say too much. I ended up trading this vehicle in anyway. This time around my wife's auto was giving us issues. Again they gave us a pretty detailed list of things that should be repaired. I shopped there quote around and went to 2 places to get it checked. Both PLACES would have saved me over $500 in comparable costs mostly labor to have the same items repaired. I actually was furious with Hollywood after my wife picked it up after only an oil change and a mandatory fee to inspect the vehicle. She dropped it off at the auto repair place I ended up doing business with this time. The owner called and informed me right then and there, that my radiator cracked due to no coolant or water. I was upset that after charging me a fee to inspect this issue they would at least put in any anti freeze or water in my radiator before it cracked and cost me money to repair it. I ended up going to an auto shop in Berwyn that's been there many years and they took care of me. At the end of the day, I think this business is looking to replace or maximize on everything that may be wrong with the vehicle especially minor issues. And while they are customer friendly, that doesn't serve clients who have families or may not have extra money for items that truly don't need repair. read more

I've waited a few months since my first time at Hollywood Motors because I wanted to see how my Jeep held up. I moved to Riverside from Southern California in a 16 year old Jeep, drive it cross-country and made it through our first winter without fail. I had an AMAZING mechanic in CA ( Action Auto, Cypress CA ) so my standards are VERY high given that I'm on a very limited budget. I was a very loyal customer, in fact my son, my Mom and my friends all ended up taking their cars to Action Auto because my recommendations. My Jeep started smoking due to an oil leak, I towed it there and explained my situation. I'm a savvy single girl who isn't naïve about car repair so they were very open about what was needed. The owner even drove me to work that morning which I'm guessing they probably don't normally do. Less than $150 and a day later my trusty truck was back on the road. Since then I've received a letter of "suggested services" which I know what needs to be done, but I appreciate the reminder and customer service. I normally don't do reviews of non-restaurant business but I figure Hollywood Motors deserves a plug. I've been coming here for years and I think they do a great job of making sure your car is properly serviced. What makes Hollywood Motors different is that they try to anticipate future problems as well as address whatever is wrong with the car at that point in time. Sometimes they tell you stuff you don't want to hear or it seems like they are drumming up business, but over time, you find out that they are just keeping you informed on the state of your vehicle. Got towed to Hollywood out of necessity, but I'm happy I choose them. I think for most, going to the mechanic is a lot like going to the dentist. You expect to be charged large amounts of money and you aren't exactly sure what you are buying. Hollywood was prompt in getting back to me and flexible with their communication methods. They clearly laid out what I needed to get my car operational again and made suggestions of other things I should get looked at. I didn't take all their recommendations immediately and they didn't push me to. I knew exactly what they were doing and how much it would be. I only got a quote from Hollywood, but according to my "car intelligent" friends, it was very reasonable. Even if it was a little higher, I would probably pay it for how easy they made the process. I had my POS car towed to Hollywood Motors last week. I'd planned to use another shop, but when I called AAA, Hollywood was on their "list" so I went with it. (Just as a side note - it was a separate towing company, I don't know if they provide this service) The car was dropped off later in the afternoon on a Wednesday. I rode over with my car in the tow truck, went in to give them the information and was offered a ride home. They were very courteous and I only had to wait a few minutes before I was whisked back home. The following morning - earlier than I expected - I got a call telling me that they'd figured out what had caused the problem but they still had a little work to do before they could give an estimate. I wasn't going to be available so I gave them my husband's number and went on about my day. A bit later they called him with the estimate, he gave the approval and they said it'd be ready on Friday. Sometime Friday we called to check on it and they said it'd be ready at 2.30. When I arrived it at 4 it was washed, fixed and ready to go. They were very nice and I didn't feel like we'd been screwed in any way. (I wish I could say that about more mechanics!) My only complaint was that when they gave us the estimate they didn't include the diagnostic fee. We hadn't really thought about it or asked, so we sort of had an "it is what it is" attitude about it. I feel that we will use them again in the future if we need a mechanic. read more

It's literally a 5 minute walk to the Zoo, so it's easy to drop your car off and head on over while they check it out! Turned out my car needed more work than I expected, but I totally trusted Josh and the crew to fix it all. From the very start, I was treated with respect and actually spoken to like I might know what they were talking about! (I am no car person, but fortunately my dad and my brothers are, so I know key terms and I can call on them for a second opinion!) Everything that needed to be done was above-board, reasonably priced, and fixed right the first time. They also gave me a loaner car since my repairs took a couple of days. When I was leaving, the owner stopped to chat with me in the parking lot and explained exactly what some of the issues with my car were, told me what to look out for, and was just really nice to talk to. I have seen all the good reviews but my experience is not so good. I left my Jeep with them last week, needed new spark plugs, brakes, tire rotation and balance, oil change,nothing major. Left it there at 6am, called at 1:30pm to authorize costs, got there 4:30pm to pick it up. Waited there till 6:45pm, checking things apparently, excuses about dipstick issues, lug nut issues. Finally got it at almost 7pm, all they did was tire rotation and oil change. The rest they didn't have time to do, they had it 13 hours...then next day my TPMS keeps flashing, no issue with this before, tires are not low, called them...ill get back to you he says, never heard from them.
