Came here for a wedding reception and we had a great time. Plenty of parking. This place is BIG and is very tastefully decorated. The cocktail hour was a nice setup and multiple serving stations served tons of food, all delicious. Wide variety of choose from. Seafood, meat carving, Italian apps, & fresh fruit. Plus servers who worked the room with very tasty bites. After that we were herded to the main ballroom. More food! We started with a Gorgonzola walnut salad with a cranberry dressing. Everyone loved it. The main course was a choice of salmon or NY strip . We both had the salmon which was served with a mango sauce, rice pilaf and asparagus on the side. We didn't stay for Venetian hour. We were stuffed and exhausted. My only complaint was there's not enough bathroom facilities for the amount of people. Waited online way too long. I am the father of the bride and a relatively critical person. I can't express how pleased I was with Southgate Manor. Everything they did was impeccable. The venue itself was beautiful and the staff was on top of every last detail. The food was plentiful and some of the best I've ever had at an affair. The cocktail hour itself could have been the whole dinner with it's variety and carving stations. My daughter had her wedding there in Oct. To be nice and positive the place was beautiful and all the employees were so nice and polite. The food was awesome. But.... There were a few down falls - 1. Was told that guests would be greeted with champagne at the door 2. A few people at our table waited for dinner as they didn't make enough so while everyone was on the dance floor we were trying to eat quickly. 3. The wedding cake never showed up 4. I never even received a piece of the cake that they quickly got from another bakery. I just feel horrible that my daughter and son in-law do not have the traditional left over wedding cake for their 1 yr anniversary when the time comes. read more

This venue is absolutely stunning and breathtaking! All of my guests couldn't believe how beautiful it was. The customer service here is outstanding.Chris and Mathew are so understanding, unfortunately my daughter needed to change her wedding date and Venue due to COVID-19 and they were there for her every step of the way trying to accommodate her and assure her that everything would work out and be okay. Chris and Mathew were so nice and patient to work with especially during this stressful time with COVID happening. On her wedding day, Brooke's bridal assistant was absolutely AMAZING his name is David. He was by her side the the entire day and evening from the time she showed up at 8:30am to the time we left at 12:30am. He made sure she had everything that she needed and then some. all day. He also took great care of all of us as we got ready for the big day!The food was all so fabulous along with their desserts. All of her guests couldn't stop talking about how perfect this venue was and are still calling us to talk about the wedding that night! I would definitely recommend them for any events you may have if you want amazing food and phenomenal customer service. Bobby was fabulous too, we started getting ready for the ceremony all the way until the end of the evening. From the first time we met with Matthew, we had a great feeling about the South Gate Manor (SGM). I personally loved that they only did one wedding a day, everything was about us. We got married in a church and had our reception at SGM. From the moment we booked with them, Chris and Matt were very easy going and good to work with. Having been in the business for over 25+ years, I knew we could trust them to handle a large wedding with exceptional food. Day of, the entire staff was AMAZING (shout out to Bobby and Lizette) who literally catered to our every need. From the moment we got there, us. and our bridal party were treated like royalty! The owner was completely disrespectful when we canceled our wedding over a year out during one of the most popular wedding times of the year. Went back on his word and said he was "doing us a favor" not making us pay the full price. Guys a jerk, made sure to tell people to go elsewhere that deserves the money. Refused to answer my calls or emails for months and took our $5000 deposit. This guy is an absolute joke of a human being and puts his tail between his legs the second he gets scared of losing his money. read more

II attended a wedding here 2 weeks ago. While the cocktail hour food and the meal were good, the liquor left something to be desired. Now, I am not advocating getting drunk at an affair, but I was drinking what I believed to be Tito's Vodka on the rocks. Through the entire night, my husband brought 6 doubles on the rocks for me, and I walked out without even a slight buzz. I watched the 20 somethings in the bridal party doing shots at a bar in the room, going at it very heavily, and never observed anyone that appeared even slightly under the influence. What does that suggest about the quality of the liquor served? Drinking even one double shot should have had a relaxing effect especially in a person like me who almost never drinks, but sipping 6 of these was tantamount to sipping water flavored with vodka. What a shame that somebody paid for what they obviously did not get. read more

Our daughter's reception last Sat. was incredible. The entire venue is immaculate , the cocktail area could be the reception area for most other venues. Wait staff couldn't have been more attentive. If Joseph is your waiter, your in for a treat! When Old Bob greets you and your guests at the front door, it's like your arriving at your best friend's house. One of my guests described the Venetian hour as Willie Wonka on steroids. Many of my guests (not youngsters) said it was the best wedding they ever attended. Maitre d' Bobby leaves no stone unturned. Just attended this venue for a function and the table service was terrible, took forever to receive our food and the staff barely cleared the tables accordingly. The food was sub-par I have most certainly had better...it was a large function and we were all packed in pretty tight...the bar staff and service was really the only good portion of the evening...the environment was clean and organized but the wait staff (at least at our table) could either use improvement or help. read more

South Gate Manor truly made our wedding day absolutely perfect with their professionalism and personalization to our wants!! Chris made us feel so comfortable from start to finish! Out of the 10+ Wedding halls we looked at, South Gate Manor surpassed them all with its elegant look, ballroom, outdoor area, cocktail room and bridal/groom suites, and most importantly the bang for your buck! We loved that they only have 1 wedding at a time and wr had no concern about most of our guests having a seat during the cocktail hour. We had our ceremony at SGM and they were more than accommodating for all of our needs. The staff including our bridal attendant and Maitre D were available and by our side the entire day from hours before the ceremony until the very end of our night!! The wait staff was unbelievable as well!! The food from the cocktail hour was unforgettable, especially the fresh mozzarella station!! The options for dinner were abundant and each meal was fantastic. The Venetian hour was beyond incredible with an enormous amount of choices. I will start out with the positive- this venue is beautiful and the food that was served at our wedding was amazing! However, after having my wedding there I am left feeling hustled. The first red flag was that the owners tried overcharging us by $5,000 after having signed our contract. We had to pull up our bank records to show that we had already paid this money- I am sure they knew this as I highly doubt a wedding venue wouldn't notice they hadn't been given their signing money. Next, we were told we could sample the food to decide on our menu. When we went to this food tasting, we realized they had only 3 of the entrees to choose from available and 2/3 were horrible! Most of what they were offering were things to up-sell you (extras for dessert and cocktail hour). When it came to deciding on the menu, we basically had to take a guess and hope for the best. The worst thing for me was that the owner called me the morning after my wedding to ask me for $300 for the maitre d fee, which was included with our wedding package. The owner was incredibly rude and condescending and essentially told me that I was an idiot for not giving this money. I felt so uncomfortable and it really put a damper on my wedding day, as I was trying to celebrate with family and was interrupted by his call. We had actually tipped the maitre d what I considered to be generously even though his tip had technically been included in what we paid for our wedding package, but the owner insisted we hadn't given him enough. Upon careful inspection of our contract and paperwork (I inspected everything carefully just to be sure we hadn't shorted the maitre d when I would have rather been celebrating our marriage with family and friends) I realized that several things we had paid for were not provided! For example, we were told there would be an intermezzo course (there wasn't) and restroom attendants ( there was nobody in the men's restroom the entire evening). We also had to ask multiple times for other things throughout the night that we noticed weren't being provided. I would warn anyone working with this venue! Be very careful to be sure you aren't ripped off. Overall, I would NOT recommend this venue. read more

South Gate Manor was the perfect venue for our wedding for so many reasons. First off, Matt and Chris were so easy and amazing to work with. They created the perfect menu from cocktail hour to dinner to dessert that incorporated all of our favorite things. The venue and outdoor grounds are absolutely beautiful and look amazing in our photos. Matt and Chris were so accommodating throughout our entire planning process and really helped us make our evening so special. The day of the wedding, bridal attendant Lisette and maitre-d Bobby were so incredibly attentive to our every need (including bustling my gown) and were so helpful the entire night. The food was top notch and incredibly delicious. Food was a very important aspect to us and we were so satisfied with everything. Our guests (many of which were hard to please Italians from Staten Island & Brooklyn) raved about the food for days following our wedding. We wish we could re-live our night at South Gate. I had my wedding yesterday at The South Gate Manor and Bobby the Maitre'D and Dave the bridal attendant made my wedding experience spectacular and stress free! This wedding was my dream wedding, it was everything I wanted and more. I was blown away! Matt and Chris did a terrific job setting up and making out reception so elegant and classy and it truly brought tears to my eyes. To say that this hall is great is simply an understatement. The place was beautiful, the food was delicious, and the staff are sincerely kind people who attend to every detail from start to end! Bobby and Dave are a dynamic dual! Bobby helped bustle my train when no one else could, and Dave was running all over the place to make sure I didn't have to. He stood by mine and my now husband's side in 100 degree weather bringing us napkins and water and making sure we were ok. My dress was heavy and with the sun blazing I felt faint and needed to take a break from the pictures, Dave and Bobby were on it faster then I could blink. They brought me inside, gave me orange juice, some food from the cocktail hour, and brought a huge fan in to keep me cool. Needless to say the whole crew was top notch. I have NEVER received such impeccable service in my whole life. I will gladly recommend The South Gate Manor to anyone who is looking to plan their wedding and I am sure that their wedding will be as epic as mine. I was beyond grateful to have both Bobby and Dave by my side. They are awesome at their job, and just awesome people. I have been to 2 weddings here. If I had gotten married in America this would be the place I chose. It's gorgeous! The rooms are huge with screens everywhere, sight lines to the dance floors, acoustics are awesome. The food is the best I've had at any venue thus far, and believe me I've been to a lot of weddings these past 4 years, and have many more coming up. Joseph and I got married on November 10, 2018, Chris, Matt, Bobby (maître'd), Jennifer (the bridal attendant) and the rest of the Southgate Manor staff were absolutely amazing. SouthGate Manor was the first and only venue we visited because the moment we walked in we knew it was the place we wanted to get married. From the moment we walked in last September, Chris Marino treated us like family and royalty and that continued through to our wedding and even afterwards. Their level of professionalism and attention is top notch. Both Chris and Matt were in attendance on the day/night of our wedding, which was amazing and made us feel so special. Bobby was incredible, and a bustle genius. He is very professional but also very down to earth which made it easy to get along with him. Before we could even ask for something, Bobby already had it on the way or already there for us. Jennifer, well she was an angel sent from above. She was my right hand and helped me with everything and anything, even after the wedding was over and her duties to me ended - she helped me change out of my wedding dress. We cannot say enough amazing things about Chris, Matt and the rest of the team. The food was awesome from cocktail hour to the Venetian hour. All our guests raved how amazing and delicious the food was and how attentive the staff was through the night. The next day and even today, we are still getting phone calls, and text messages from guests telling us how great the venue is, how good the food was and how excellent the service was at SGM. We've even had guests ask us to throw another party there! It was truly a magical night and we cannot be any happier with our choice in our wedding venue. The BEST wedding venue! A beautifully run venue by the Marino family. My husband and I had our wedding at South Gate Manor on 10/15/16. I used everyone in the family for our vendors. Stephanie Marino did a beautiful job with the bouquets and fall branch centerpieces that she accented with crystals and hanging candles. Her final touches were just perfect. Brian Marino did our photography. Bobby and Jennifer were excellent bridal assistants and were by our side any time we needed them. We used Peter Sciortino from Dash of Class Entertainment, the venue's recommended DJ company, and they were FANTASTIC! We had our ceremony outside on a beautiful fall day with fall foliage and pumpkins at the wedding arbor. & the FOOD was OUTRAGEOUS! Everything was absolutely DELICIOUS! We are still receiving so many compliments from our friends and family that it was the best wedding they have ever been to. The venue is extremely clean and just so simply elegant with brown and cream colors. The Marino family took away any worry that I had and made sure our day was PERFECT! I attended a wedding here on November 16, 2018. While I would give 5 stars for the venue and cocktail hour, I would give 0 stars to the meal. All 10 people at our table were served food that was completely undercooked. The people that ordered the chicken and pork could not even cut through their food because it wasn't cooked thoroughly. The eggplant dish was cold and the seared tuna that I ordered was only edible around the edges. The inside was not cooked at all. This could have been a major health concern to eat raw pork and chicken. We all regret that we didn't bring this to someone's attention, but we did not want to ruin the reception for the bride and groom. I was at an event at the South Gate Manor this passed Saturday. The service was TERRIBLE. We were promised two bars but only had one. The cocktail hour was non existent, (one cheese display and little to no hand passed appetizers). The dinner was sub par. The salad was drenched in dressing and over powering. The sword fish entree tasted like a frozen fish that was defrosted. The prime rib, although they asked how we wanted it cooked, was over cooked and tasteless. The room when split in half is entirely too small. The management is horrendous and rude. If they offered our group a discount we would still never return for another event. I would NEVER recommend this venue to a wedding or event. read more

I love going to weddings. I never wanted or believed in big traditional Italian weddings unlike most girls, but going into this place ALMOST convinced me I now needed a wedding or at least to get married... Everything about the hall was perfect. The Cocktail & Venetian hour were among the best hours of my entire wedding attending life. The staff was super attentive, almost to the point where I thought they were going to ask me if I wanted happy endings certain moments. Clean is an understatement, I would have licked my drink off the floor if it spilled. The bridal party room was big, lots of outlets, couches & seating, and of course mirrors so we were able to stare at ourselves in every angle. The dance floor was just right. The pictures from the wedding came out gorgeous because of the hall, indoors & out (and besides our stunning looks). I went to a wedding at South Gate last month. The hall is very pristine, marble floors (no carpeting) and nicely placed mirrors. The cocktail hour was so so good, lots to choose from. The room it was held in was very modern, with different lighting and seating it could pass for a lounge. The reception area was huge but in a way it felt too big. Even when most of the guests were dancing the dance floor still seemed empty. The salad was really good, it had lots of shredded cheese with strawberries and a raspberry vinegarette. The dinner options were a bruschetta pork chop, chicken sorrentina, ny strip steak, filet of sole and eggplant lasagna. I chose the chicken sorrentina of which i took two bites and regretted my decision. Another couple at the table said the pork chop was a bad choice as well. The men at the table all complained their steaks were overcooked (usually the case at catering halls) and one even sent his back. The staff was very accomodating to the displeased man at our table. I have to say the waitstaff was very attentive and helpful. I didn't have to go to the bar even once to get a drink, our wonderful waitress had a fresh drink waiting every time I was about to go get one myself. The venetian hour was amazing with lots of unique options. There was a cannoli station, fried oreos, fried twinkies, zeppolis, a milkshake station, ice cream float station, chocolate fondue, cheesecake and lots of other cakes. South Gate Manor was a no brainier for our selection for wedding venue. I can not say enough about how wonderful Matt and Chris and the entire Marino family were. They made us instantly feel like family and like VIPS. They were amazing during the planning process and on the day of the wedding they made me feel like a princess. The entire staff was wonderful, especially Bobby and David. They went over and above taking care of our every need. Their service was one of the most memorable parts of the wedding. They went over and above for my husband and I. They made sure we were fed, had our drinks, and made sure we were happy with everything. They fixed and safety pinned the bustle on my dress 3 times and ever had a benadryl and glass of water in my hand within 60 seconds of saying that i was breaking out on my cheek. They made us feel like family and worked with us to plan surprises and our very unique entrances. The room was beautiful, the food was beyond delicious, the Venetian hour was mind blowing, and our wedding cake was hands down the most delicious thing served. I attended South Gate Manor's New Years Eve party last night and my entire family of 21 had the time of our lives! The food was plentiful and delicious, the wait staff was excellent and courteous and the facility was beautiful and clean. This was my first time out for New Years Eve and my first time to the South Gate Manor and my entire family will definitely be back to ring in 2015! The evening's DJ, Dash Of Class, was phenomenal. They kept the room of over 200 people on the dance floor all night. It was a family event that included both kids and adults and their selection of music was great for everyone from the classic oldies to today's music for the kids. I attended a wedding here in Oct. '15. A bartender accidentally spilled a glass of wine on me within the first ten minutes of cocktail hour. Did not seem to care or apologize. Spent the better part of the next hour trying to make myself look presentable in the bathroom. Owner offered to pay for dry cleaning. Dress was beyond repair so I asked if they would reimburse. Owner said he would mail a check and asked for my address. Great! Only no check now months and months later. You may have a beautiful venue, but integrity in the little things is sometimes a window into how a business is run. read more
