This was a great place to stay. It was clean recently renovated, comfortable & modern. The breakfast offered was made fresh in their kitchen each day and was delicious. Just 1 block to the beach. Be sure to book your reservations early! We will be back!

The James in Bradley Beach is a Fantastic Place to Stay at the Jersey Shore The newly refurbished "The James" is a lovely Bed and Breakfast, just one block from the ocean in beautiful Bradley Beach. Named for one of the town's founders, James Bradley, it began as a large Victorian mansion. Now The James is an intimate sanctuary, comprised of 17 guestrooms, suites, and a bungalow spread across three historic buildings. The rooms have fascinating designs by Sebastian Zuchowicki, one of the top American interior designers. Based in New York City, he is renowned as a "visual storyteller who transcends space through the use of fine art, objects, and timeless interiors." The James boasts unique contemporary designs with classical and coastal elements that highlight the simple beauty of the Jersey Shore. Distinctive decorative finishes by Lucas Willing Studios transform spaces into special sanctuaries. Delicious breakfasts are included in your stay, and an outstanding internet connection is available for those who must stay connected to the outside world. This area of the Jersey Shore provides mile after mile of beautiful, pristine ocean views. Consider staying at The James and enjoy a wonderful opportunity to relax and refresh. As a former NJ Assistant Commissioner of Health and former President of the NJ Public Health Association, I give The James my highest rating. The James is located at 204 3rd Avenue in Bradley Beach, NJ 07720 and the website is https://www.thejamesbradleybeach.com/

My cousins recommended The Columns on Sundays they have live bands…read more We arrived and placed a request for a table of 8 in the restaurant. It took about an hour for us to be seated. There are 3 areas at The Columns- the bar area with seating on the right side once you enter. Dinning area to the left is cash only and grab and go foods and drinks! Sliders, fries. We were seated on the porch for dinner! Food was tasty! Enjoyed my Painkiller cocktail! After dinner, we went to the bar and listen to the band. Great night catching up with my cousins and friends. Prices were actually really reasonable for a coastal restaurant! The Columns located across the street from the boardwalk and beach of Spring Lake! Loved the boards with saying throughout The Columns located across! Gorgeous stained glass windows in the staircase! Would definitely return!!

My wife and I visited The Columns and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience…read more We sat at the bar and ordered both food and drinks. While the atmosphere was nice and we enjoyed the setting, the service from the bartender made us feel extremely uncomfortable. We were repeatedly ignored and had to go out of our way just to get her attention and receive basic service. What was particularly troubling was watching the difference between how we were treated and how other customers were treated. Based on our experience and those interactions, my wife and I both felt that we were being treated differently because of our race. I don't make that accusation lightly, but the disparity in service was noticeable enough that we both left with the same impression. It's unfortunate because the location and atmosphere have a lot going for them. We came there expecting to have an enjoyable evening together, not to feel unwelcome or as though we had to repeatedly work to get the bartender to serve us. Management should take experiences like this seriously. Every customer should receive the same level of courtesy, attention, and professionalism regardless of their race or background.
