Disclaimer: I've only interacted with the staff. I did not purchase anything or get an eye exam. I stopped by one afternoon hoping to ask a few questions and browse their selection. Unfortunately, the experience matched what several other negative reviews had mentioned about the staff's attitude. There were three employees working at the time, and not one greeted me, offered help, or even acknowledged me in a friendly way. Instead, I was met with stares and an overall vibe that I was inconveniencing them just by being there. I genuinely wanted to schedule an eye exam and pick out a new pair of glasses since this location is so close to me, but after less than two minutes, I felt uncomfortable enough to walk right back out. It's disappointing, especially knowing others have experienced the same unwelcoming behavior. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously, because the convenience of the location can't make up for how poorly customers are treated. read more

I brought my five year old daughter here for an incoming kindergartners eye exam. I also had my eighteen month son in tow. We showed up on time to the appointment, maybe a few minutes early even. After checking in at the desk, the receptionist handed me a clipboard with a few pages of paperwork to fill out. This is all seemed standard and there was no one else in the waiting area. They have a few toys in the corner of the office, so the kids were busy playing while I tried to fill out the forms. Then this woman descends from the back all huffy and puffy and literally starts yelling at me for not having the forms completed. I was in shock, as she came in aggressive immediately and didn't even introduce herself. I told her I was working as quickly as I could, but I'd be happy to bring the forms back with me to complete if they need to start the exam now. I'm super calm. She yells AGAIN. "We can't do that, you better hurry or we won't be seeing you today. We're already SO behind and the doctor doesn't have time to wait on YOU." My hand literally starts shaking trying to finish up the paperwork and my son starts crying because the vibes are off. I feel like I can't even console him, because I'm rushing and my hand is still shaking. I finish the paperwork and check the time on my phone - it was 6 minutes past the appointment time, and again, there's not even another person in the waiting area. No one at the office told me to arrive extra early for paperwork before the exam time. The assistant brings us back to a cramped room and again is incredibly rude and snappy, demanding I sit down and my daughter sit on my lap. I explain that will be hard with my son who is now hysterical from her disrespectful tone. I ask if perhaps they have a booster, which seems like a normal request for an office that sees children and has toys in the waiting room. She then gets mad at ME for my daughter not being able to see well through the machine while on my lap (while I'm also trying to juggle my son on my other leg). Again, she gets all huffy "WELL THIS ISN'T GOING TO WORK!" After she left, the doctor came in to the exam room and was calm, patient and accommodating. He made my daughter feel safe and comfortable, but I was fighting through tears the rest of the exam in disbelief at the disrespect I had encountered from his assistant from the moment I walked in the door. I would never go back to this establishment with a child. read more

The doctor was very good but she recently resigned. My one star is due to rude and condescending staff. Will never go back after three terrible experiences. Last straw was walking into the office while the staff were complaining about me asking to see an itemized bill. It was very awkward once they learned who I was. read more

They will not see you unless you fill out forms online. They would not see me when I came to new appointment because I do not do online forms and wanted to fill them out in office. Lady at the front was rude and said the dr did not want to see me because of the forms. I find this very tacky! Healthcare providers should be more accommodating when it comes to something so minor that doesn't directly effect patient care. I had an AMAZING experience with Dr Cindy and the entire English Rows Eye Care team that i encountered. My eyes have been troublesome most of my life (I've had glasses or contacts since 2nd grade and am 44 now.) I had a previous eye dr that I completely trusted but had to find a new doc due to his retirement. I had Lasik about 18 years ago and contacts haven't worked out in the past after lasik and when I needed glasses for driving, etc. Dr. Cindy was completely thorough (and a few hours into wearing the sample she provided) I feel that she has gotten my vision to as perfect as it can be for my age. He doctor was wonderful but the front staff is a bit incompetent. They called me for my insurance info 2 days before appointment. After my exam they told me my insurance wasn't accepted. After the exam which was $160. Ridiculous. I said why didn't anyone call me to tell me my insurance wasn't accepted? She said I didn't have insurance I had a "discount plan", which isn't true. She then excused herself to talk to staff and I could hear them looking for a post it that should have been in my chart telling someone to call me. She then came back and said someone should have called me. Uh... ya. They ended up only charging me $80 but according to my insurance plan I get exams for $5. And I DO have insurance. I took my five year old son yesterday for his kindergarten eye exam. The staff was WONDERFUL. I accidentally mixed up the time of his eye appointment and came two hours early. They were able to see us and were SO nice about the mix up. Dr. Allan J Smith was AMAZING with my son as was the other lady who helped with the exam. My son LOVED him and the 'treasure chest' they have for kids after their exams. Our entire family will be going to this practice from now on. read more

I have been having headaches and wanted to get my eyes checked. I had an appointment at Rosin Eye Care or so I thought. Once I went to my appointment I was told I was late. I said "No the appointment was for 3:30 not 3:00" First of all I know what I said when I made the appointment, the girl who rescheduled it was confused because originally I had a 3:00 but had her change to another day and time. 3:30. Needless to say it was just a mistake. However.... the way they handled it was wrong. There was no one in the lobby and they wouldn't accomodate me at all. So I called around and English Rows Eye Care heard of my situation and squeezed me into their books. No issues at all! When I got their their lobby was full and they still found time to accomodate me. The girls were so nice and helpul and all had great personalities. I will no longer go to Rosin eye care. I LOVE Dr. Smith and the staff at English Rows! The staff is so knowledgeable and incredibly nice, that it's a pleasure to go for appointments and contacts, etc. I refer to Dr. Smith as "the Magician" because he always has great knowledge, advice and appreciates my preferences (like being stubborn about wearing contacts). He has fitted my hard-to-fit eyes with the most comfortable contacts--in my super-high prescription. He handled an eye infection quickly and easily and, most recently, is treating me for dry eyes--slowly stepping up methods to combat it and maintaining follow-up. The staff knows me and my husband and are always very friendly. They have a good selection of frames--even children's--which is all I can fit into. A great practice. I highly recommend! read more

I made an appointment for my daughter who is three years old and has some delays. Their website specifically says they offer pediactric services. When I called I explained in full my daughters situation. The first red flag was when they called to confirm the appointment for a different date then what was booked. THEY ARE NOT APPROPRIATE FOR YOUNG CHILDRED!!! I don't have or use corrective lenses, but had an eye irritation and needed to get it checked out. English Rows Eye Care was close to home and making an appointment was quick and easy especially for someone who hasn't had an eye exam in years. Dr. Smith and all the staff were friendly, clear, and straight forward in explaining what was going on with my eye and they all took great care of me. I had one of the Worst experiences with my visit, Even though there is no body in particular to blame but their over all process is painfully slow. I went there for my eye Check up last Tuesday I was prescribed 2 glasses one for short sight and the other for far sight, it took them 9 to 10 full business days to give my short sight glasses ( reading), they however gave me the long sight glasses in 7 business days. Both the glasses are not working as expected, they both need to be diagnosed and lens replaced I believe, but my appointment is not until next Thursday because the doctor is out on vacation, so I have to wait again for one more week to get a check up and probably wait another 7 to 10 business days for another lens, I spend a lot of time on computers ~~12 hours a day, waiting this long for working glasses was not what I expected of English Rows. Call it timing or the over all process but this has been a very painful experience, I strongly suggest finding some other doctor if you are in urgent need for glasses. read more

I absolutely love it here!!!! The staff is so friendly and caring! You never feel rushed. I am mostly grateful for Dr Smith!!!! For years I've gone to eye doctors and gotten my glasses prescription filled and really have never seen clearly. Dr Smith immediately diagnosed me correctly and I in fact have Keratoconus, all these years I had gotten used to subpar vision when I didn't have to. I can see and function normally all because Dr Smith took his time to diagnose me correctly. I will be forever grateful to him. My family member was in for an exam earlier this week and I actually had to get involved. She was charged $145 for an eye exam and $800 for eyeglass and sunglass lenses only (no frames). When we called for an explanation of itemized costs for the lenses, decided to cancel the order. Requested the prescription from the exam to be emailed. But, had to follow up the next day since it was never sent. They sent it right away, but sent the wrong one from a year ago. Had to call back again. This time, noticed the PD measurement was missing. Requested this over the phone and was told it'd be another $10 just to release this information-which was dated last year since they didn't include this measurement in the most recent exam. Have since shopped around and found much better prices and service. read more

Doctors are fine. The front desk, however, thinks they're something they're not. We've bought 3 pairs of glasses + contacts in the last year (easily over $1500). They have a toy chest that my daughter discovered. One of the front desk employees, a woman whom my 3yo daughter described as the woman who runs the orphanage in Despicable Me, took a great amount of pleasure telling my daughter that "those are for boys and girls who get eye exams :)" Needless to say, she was crushed. The car ride home was spent explaining to her how some people are nice, and some people are not. Unless those are gold and diamond crusted Matchbox cars in that chest, I think you could have spared a plastic toy for the 3yo child of a customer who was dropping hundreds and hundreds of dollars in your store. Unless, of course, you think you're something you're not. When my wife tried to get an appointment in before the new year, she was actually chuckled at for even suggesting something so preposterous. She wasn't asked if there was a better time, an alternate time, something that could have made her happy... no. She was laughed at and made to feel small - like my daughter. "Attitude" is the word my wife keeps repeating, even as I write this. "Better" is the way to describe what they think they are. Better than their customers, no doubt. After all, being the gatekeeper of a box of plastic toys is such tiring work. Silly non-exam taking kids! And let's not forget how hard it is to stifle the contemptuous laughter when people dare to attempt a last minute appointment. Keep acting and feeling like you're something you're not - such as the only place to get exams, contacts & glasses - and we'll happily spend our thousands and thousands each year somewhere else. :) read more

I'll just start by saying that ALL medical offices should be run this way. Dr. Smith and his entire staff are fantastic. This was my second annual checkup. I showed up right at 10:15 for my appt... and they were ready for me at 10:15. No wait. Let me repeat: NO. WAIT. !!!!! The office is super-modern with the latest technology. Tried the Optomap machine today instead of having my eyes dilated... (TOTALLY worth the $40, BTW.) Dr. Smith is thorough and explains every step of the process, and he's just a really nice guy to boot. My daughter (then barely five years old) had her first eye appt ever here last year and it was a terrific experience - which is SO important for a kid. My husband now goes here as well. We rarely have the same medical professional for everything but we have our entire family's optical needs covered here. Was also quite impressed with the frame selection. (Last year I was fitted for contacts so I didn't go through the frame selection process here back then.) Originally I wanted Tory Burch or Ted Baker frames (neither of which they carry) but the selection was still really broad - Brooks Brothers, Prada, Versace, Ralph Lauren, Elizabeth Arden, Ray-Ban, etc, etc. I took FOREVER picking out frames and still couldn't decide - too many good options - but the associate that helped me was SO patient and pulled a LOT of styles I wouldn't have chosen for myself. (When I say patient, I mean PATIENT - I took selfies, was texting pics to my husband for his opinion, etc - like 45 mins worth of selection and trying on and back-and-forth.) She took my feedback on my current Gucci frames into account - I wanted a thinner bridge, nothing too rounded or too large, no metal, no flashy colors, no huge metal logo or obvious sunglasses-looking hinge on the side, etc. and literally selected several pairs I would never have picked up on my own. I ended up with a Ralph Lauren pair she picked (one I didn't even notice at first) and I couldn't be happier. Was shocked at how reasonable the price was for frames, etc. too - mine ended up being totally covered by insurance, so with my co-pay, my desired upgrades (thinner high-index lenses, tougher coating, etc.) and the Optomap exam, my entire appt AND new glasses only came to $150 outside of my insurance. By FAR the least I have ever spent getting an annual exam and totally new frames and lenses, but with *significantly* better quality of care and service. (Side note: They also didn't freak out when they called two days ahead to confirm my appt and I realized I'd been booked into a business trip the same day... got me rebooked for less than a week later and were completely pleasant about it. Huge bonus points for someone who travels frequently, particularly without much notice.) Would definitely recommend English Rows to anyone. read more

This place is so great! I always have a problem finding a good eye care place. The staff is very nice and helpful. I hardly had to wait for my appointment and the appointment it self was probably 20 minutes or less. In my opinion I feel they could have more options for unique glasses but luckily I called before my appointment and requested a specific frame. They actually ordered it for me to try on and said there was no pressure if I didn't like it!! Turns out I did love the frames I chose so it all worked out. I had called about 2 weeks ago asking for prices for contacts and the lady over the phone told me a price for each box of contacts. She then asked if I wanted to order them, I told her I'd call back next week because I still had some contacts left I could use. I then called back the following week and asked to order 1 box of contacts and then she told me it was going to be $65, which was $20 more what the lady previously told me it was. I thought it must've been a mix up and didn't bother to question it. When I went to pick up the contacts, I was told it was going to be $65 and then I told this younger woman, that this lady had previously told me it was a different price and she told her coworker the situation in front of me and wow I'm actually amazed at how rude the older lady with glasses was being. I simply wondered why I was told a different price from the first time I called and asked. I'm in the customer service industry and have never acted that way towards a customer. I'm hoping that older lady was simply having a bad day and doesn't consistently act that way to customers. read more

Our family has been going to Dr. Smith for years. We followed him after he moved offices to his new practice, and going to the eye doctor is now better than ever! Their office is brand new--very comfortable and professional. There are lots of magazines in the waiting area and even some toys to keep any kids busy--not that you'll wait long--I can't remember ever having to wait. Dr. Smith explains every test to you and even gives you two different options for eye scans. The eye scan we just got involves a new machine which takes a 3D picture of your eyes so they can be compared visit to visit--a more accurate method than the old standard test. Also, this new scan does not require you to get your eyes dilated--what a relief! The only downside is the scan is $40 because it is not currently covered by most insurance companies (but probably will be in the near future). There are a large selection of glasses frames and contact lenses from which to use. The staff is all very friendly and professional--they take interest in you as a person, not just a patient. We have never had any problems with them--appointments are easy to make, insurance easy to process, etc. I highly recommend Dr. Smith's eye care office! read more

You only get one set of eyes, so my eye care is really important to me. Dr. Smith always has the newest technology and is very knowledgeable about all the products and options available for his patients. His office is very clean, and the staff is very friendly. His prices are fair and the staff is always happy to help you work with your insurance and find the best deals for you. He hosts different fun event nights with prizes and raffles, and contributes to a variety of community activities and charities. I wouldn't think about going anywhere else ! read more
