Hannah at Enlightened Baby is unbelievably knowledgeable about all things baby safety. As a Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST), she truly knows her stuff! She spent nearly three hours with us, answering our questions and helping us find the right car seat and stroller/bassinet combination for our family's needs. When we decided on a car seat model that wasn't even listed on their website yet, Hannah went above and beyond by creating a custom order so we could get it as soon as it became available. My wife has arthritis, so we had done a tremendous amount of research beforehand. Being able to actually see, touch, and test the different products in person made all the difference. There is simply no substitute for hands-on experience when making such an important purchase. We ultimately chose the Cybex Callisto T 360 car seat and the Silver Cross Cove 2 stroller with bassinet, and we couldn't be happier with our decision. We also realized that Enlightened Baby carried many of the items on our baby registry. We ended up switching our registry purchases from major retailers to this wonderful small business. They offer delivery, warranties, and, most importantly, exceptional customer service. Supporting a local business while receiving such personalized care made the entire experience even more special. Really disappointed to be writing this, but I've now had two poor experiences here. The store has a great selection of strollers, but the service has been consistently lacking. On both visits, I was given less than five minutes of help before the associate moved on to assist other customers for long stretches (20-30 minutes), leaving me standing there trying to make a big decision completely on my own. It's frustrating to feel overlooked--especially when you're clearly in need of guidance and ready to purchase. I'm from Dallas and this was my first time in Austin. My car wasn't charging my phone correctly and they were so kind to allow me to relax and charge my phone with my baby. I didn't catch the ladies name who invited me in where we met in the parking lot as she was existing her shift asking about my situation (but she was a pretty blonde with glasses) and when I went in Sam was awesome and charged my phone enough to make it to my location. Came here today looking for some help deciding on a new toddler carseat for our baby her outgrew her infant one. We had done our research before hand and felt as if we had narrowed down our decision. After talking to Whitney and her sister (sorry, I can't remember her name but she had a cute baby!), we ended up leaving with a completely different one (Uppababy Knox) than what we had in mind when we got to the store. Stopped by this weekend to test out a few items I needed to shore up for my baby registry. Had the pleasure of working with Alondra and she was as helpful as could be! Going in I thought I needed two wearable baby carriers: a structured carrier and a wrap; after trying on a few, I realized I could get away with a hybrid of the two--and in fact I hated the way a structured carrier felt. This was such a helpful service! I was also able to test out several rockers and found a couple I loved. The stroller selection was massive, albeit busy on a Saturday morning, so I look forward to returning again soon on a weekday to peruse my options on that front. Overall, a highly wonderful experience. With many stores only having display models that you can't actually touch or try on/out, this store is a gem for moms and moms-to-be such as myself! Despite having spent thousands of dollars here over the past few years, it makes me very sad to say that I will never shop here again. I purchased a new Nook Pure mattress here and was "upsold" an additional cover for the mattress with the lure of 20% off the extra cover. There were two available and my husband and I were both thinking of buying the grey but were talked into the glass color by the owner. When I get home, I turn both the covers inside out and put them in the washer on delicate (exactly per the instructions on the Nook tag and website) and when I take them out, there is a tear on the inside of the glass one (only on the outside of the cover, not all the way through, and it was washed inside out). I don't wear any rings (the owner told me about how she had torn her covers with her rings... hmm...) and there is no way the cover could have been torn. I immediately try to call the store, but can't get through, so I send them an email. It's only been a few hours since I bought the cover. 4 days later, they finally email me and refuse to exchange the cover! I spent almost $600 on Monday and they won't even exchange the $80 cover for one without a tear. I'm not even asking for my money back! Now... and this is rich... they tell me I need to file a warranty claim with Nook but Nook almost certainly won't accept it because the cover was discounted! So, they talk me into the color I wasn't going to buy (trying to get rid of a damaged cover, perhaps?) and give me a discount so I'm stuck with it. Not a problem I'd be experiencing if I hadn't made the mistake of shopping here (and had gotten it somewhere like Amazon). No wonder small businesses like this one are dying! Terrible customer service. Avoid at all costs and just send your money to Jeff Bezos instead. read more

What a mess. Their customer service is extremely disappointing. They do nothing to accommodate a customer. Ordered a doona off their website back in early August. The baby came eight weeks early so we ordered a doona from Doona. Which came in two weeks. Enlighten's arrived October 17th (9 weeks) we called immediately to see if we could return it. (Assumed it was never coming actually, with a delay like that!) Yet no one responded for a whole week. after countless calls/vm's to the store and emails their "online department" finally responded via email and said they do not accept returns on car seats due to the fact we may Return a counterfeit. The package was never opened. This is not a liability. This is nonsense. Communication is key. We never even received a confirmation email. They had the wrong email because they missed a number. (Their mistake not ours, this knowledge came from the girl on the phone at the store) We sent emails and when we called she said that online had the wrong email even though we received a response from them that they would get back to us in 72 hours so instead of responding to our email, online (Bobby) used the wrong one? Doesn't even make sense. The women at the store (Kathryn?) also said online is a different department and that Bobby doesn't have a phone. (Her words not ours) are you joking? What company doesn't have a phone/customer service line for online orders?!? Calling emailing communicating kindly and efficiently would be nice, and expected in 2021. Too many small businesses to support. And if they act like this buy direct from the manufacturer. This shipment should have never taken this long to receive. Like ever. And to be able to return it should be a no brainer when it's never been opened and we called upon it's delivery. Still can't get over The email claiming they don't accept returns on car seats because of liability reasons, counterfeits/damage. Would that not apply to us receiving it from them? How do we ensure the one they sent isn't damaged? We can't believe she even said that! Don't shop their online site. To say it bluntly.... Their communication/customer service STINKS! read more

I wouldn't recommend shopping at this store. Their policies are not customer, new mom or even baby friendly. With babies, especially as new moms, we don't necessarily know sizing and what works right off the bat. I was given a gift that was too small for my child. I went to exchange it for the identical item in the size larger and they wouldn't let me because it was out of their exchange window. Even when I asked that it was a gift and just wanted it in the appropriate size, I wasn't allowed to exchange it. The item was in original packing, tags on and gift wrap. We spent quite a bit of time in this store trying to make a decision and we never felt rushed or in the way. I was looking for a baby boutique like one I used to work for in Southern California. A sprinkle of hip quality clothing as well as a good selection of wooden toys and all kinds of fun kitschy unique baby items and I didn't think that Austin would disappoint. Walking into Enlightened Baby was a dream - a literal baby haven filled with all kinds of wonder that reminded me of my previous employer. If you're a stickler like me especially when it comes to educational toys that aren't plastic or made in China you'll absolutely find a home in Enlightened Baby. Granted the substance that the store provides is unparalleled but the service (at least this day) was a little lackluster. To be fair there apparently was a large shipment that had come in and the employees were going googoogaga over the duds. When it comes to a freestanding boutique getting to know your customer is key. Boutiques are almost like extensions of family and you should be on a first name basis with most of your clientele. I was definitely ready to drop some serious money in there but ended up tapering back because I kind of well WANTED to be sold to. Trust me I do appreciate being able to explore without the dreaded sales pressure but I also would've liked to know more information about some products that I was unfamiliar with and I like to see salesman's techniques. Love their merchandise: softest clothes, ideal toys, nifty gadgets, products that won't kill your baby like stainless steel bottles and chemical free items. The freshie (10 week old) Forester, mom, C and I popped in this store to last spring to find things we didn't even know existed... but realized we needed! I purchased I Maya wrap - an easy peasy carrier to 'wear' Forester with a zipped pocket. It also acts as a nursing cover! Also purchased was some magnets to put on the carseat to keep the metal hooks handy and not tangled - genius! The owner was kind and so helpful... to the point where Zooey Deschanel was shopping around her store but she still gave me adequate attention teaching me how to use the Maya Wrap! It was amazing to go into The Natural Baby Company and see everything (and more!) that I had to special order and go out of my way to search for when I had my son. They have brands like Ergo, Beco, Boon, cloth diapers, furniture, classes, etc. Whitney, the owner was the nicest when I popped in the other day to check it out! They also sell pregnancy and ovulation tests for a dollar a piece! If you've ever taken one of these, you know how awesome that is!
