Fridays are always self-care days for me. Today I had two emphases: 1), Yelp exploration and 2) starting to get gift ideas for Christmas. The Monogram Lady store came to mine. They have a wide rate of gift items that you can personalize with a monogram. Their selection ranges from stuffed animals to Linen to purses to name a few. One of the staff members also highlighted , that you can bring items from outside the store. I that was good to know. When you personalize an item, it makes it more special in my opinion. I brought a high-quality tie to Monogram Lady to be monogrammed as a going-away gift. It was already boxed and ready to present -- I just wanted to add a meaningful touch. I chose this small business expecting attention to detail and care. Unfortunately, that wasn't my experience. I was told a single seam would need to be opened to do the embroidery. I declined their suggestion to use vinyl, as I didn't want to compromise the tie's quality. I asked that the seamstress call me before beginning. Instead, I got a text from an unknown number -- not ideal, but I went along with it. I agreed to remove one seam and requested the thread be saved for color-matching later. That was dismissed, and the tone quickly became curt and unhelpful. A week later, I picked up the tie to find it had been completely taken apart -- far beyond what was discussed -- and the monogram design looked nothing like what we agreed on. The sun graphic resembled a blotch or bug, not the clean symbol I requested. The seamstress never spoke with me directly, and the staff simply offered excuses. What I would've appreciated most was honesty. If they couldn't meet my request, I would've gladly taken my business elsewhere. Instead, I spent $180 on the tie, $35 on the monogram, and now another $30 to have it repaired -- all for a result I didn't ask for. Monogram Lady saved Christmas! I needed a few things monogrammed for Christmas and was going to use someone in my neighborhood. I sent photos of my items and was told it would be no problem and she could do the work when she got back to town in a few days. When she got back I brought the items to her and after two days decided she didn't feel comfortable doing the work. After this I was scrambling to find someone to do the monogramming and reached out to Monogram Lady. They were so incredibly helpful and spent quite a bit of time with me and my items to make sure everything would turn out the way I wanted. They even turned around the order the same day I dropped it off! The items all looked wonderful and they did such a great job. I used to take all of my monogramming Monogram Lady, but switched to a neighbor for convenience. Second time I have been extremely disappointed with this company. The first time, was a family passed down apron that the sales lady INSISTED be done in vinyl versus stitched for monogramming. I was not happy and it was ruined. It looked pretty cheap. Today, I go to pick up my backpack where the monogramming wasn't done where we had discussed and the sales lady proceeded to belittle me in front of other customers and say that it didn't make any sense to go there (there's a caribiner clip that I was going to remove to see the monogram, not that she needed to know that) and so they put in a different location and it was tiny. I was told that the monogram would be done as large as they could and not even that was done. Lastly, I has this done in plenty of time for an upcoming trip and now there's no time to change it, it's not in the right place, and it's tiny. AND it doesn't look like much of a monogram to me. Requested the classic three letter initial monogram and the spacing is so off one side is not interlinking and the other side looks crooked. I've had monogramming done before and this is certainly not what I requested, expected or what I was told I would receive. read more

I'm giving one star only because they stock the biggest selection of Jon Hart in Austin, so there's that. That's where the positivity stops... They've been in business for forever so I'm sure there's a reason...I just can't understand why. Selection? I went in to get a grad gift. They advertise that they have a hot stamping machine on premises, so I asked if they could hot stamp it. The owner, I believe, literally looked at me like I asked her to cook me a steak. She told me it takes "like 30 minutes to heat up the machine". I understand science & that her machine is not instahot so, I offered to come back in an hour. She then asked if I could come back in 4 hours. I let her know I had appointments in another part of town, so I couldn't and she just looked at me like that was all she was willing to do. I've been in there when it's busy, which I would've understood, but the store was empty. If she didn't feel it was a prudent business move to fire it up for one item, ok, but then.... I told her I'd just have to buy it and get it stamped somewhere else and then she CHARGED me $10 for not stamping it! I'm not lying. Here's the picture of the receipt to prove it. The item was priced $72 but I was charged $82 for the extra side of unwillingness to fire up the hot stamping machine?!!? Omg. Just go to Beaukisses for your gifting needs. We asked for a monogram for Luke A____ M______ and bought a separate item with name already embroidered with the name Luke. We arrive to pick the item after we were told it was ready and found Lam on the blanket. Oh no we say, it is a monogram and his name is Luke A____ M_____. She acknowledged, that's right, it was busy that day and we will fix it and give you a call back. We again gave them the boy's full name and asked for a monogram. We arrive to pick up today, and we get a LAM. The young woman helping us asked "is this a name or a monogram", she replied "it's a name." Our gift wrapping was their bag. We were offered gift wrapping, not a commercial. We left, drove south to 3 Threads where we had previously been satisfied with embroidery. As we watch, the woman at 3 Threads wrote with a capital M in the middle. So much for trying to find a business near our house. If you can mess up the order twice, you can mess it up three times. $70 lesson learned. I just got a call from the Monogram Lady, she still doesn't have it right. My wife NEVER ask for a name to be embroidered on the blanket. Besides, have you every known anyone named Lam? Another question for the Monogram Lady, if we are so wrong, how did your competitor in south Austin, Olivia's Gift and Monogram, get it right the first time? I went in at the end of May with several items to be embroidered and to get vinyl stickers put on some cups. I worked out the order with Tracy, and I sent them the necessary logo artwork 2 hours later. They assured me the order would be complete so I could take it out of town with me the next week. So I was surprised when Tracy called me days later confirming my order as if we hadn't already worked out the details.. They hadn't even started my order. And there was no way it was going to be done in time for me to take it out of town. They didn't offer a solution. Or an apology. I recommend bringing in an item that you want embroidered such as a bag, hoodie, baby bibs, etc. because they will overcharge you for these items if you get them here (go to Hobby Lobby and buy plain craftables super cheap!). The day before leaving town for Christmas, I decided I had to have two totes monogrammed to give as gifts. I searched online for an option to have shipped home, but the overnight fees were adding up to far more than the bags were worth. So after scouring Yelp for help, I headed North on MoPac and was prepared to beg the Monogram Lady for mercy. As it turns out, I didn't have to beg. I found two totes - exact matches to what I had in mind - and the girl behind the counter did not even flinch when I asked her for an insanely quick turn around. I even offered to pay a rush fee, but because I purchased the bags from them, none was required. They happily monogrammed my bags in less than 24 hours. During the Christmas rush. I was thrilled. The selection is good - there is everything from beach towels to baby clothes to high end bags and luggage. The store is a little overwhelming though - there is stuff everywhere. Don't be discouraged, just take a deep breath and push on. The prices are more per item than you could find in other places, especially online, but when you factor in the customer service, no need for shipping and custom monogramming, it cannot be beat. read more

The Monogram Lady is the worst. A) Their merchandise is old....they rarely have new products - it's the same old, same old thing every time. Don't get me wrong - some of their stuff is cute; but there's a lot of junk in there. B) If you want something monogramed or embroidered, it takes forever. They are unreliable on getting it back to you on time and often have to push back their deadline. And when the product is finally ready, expect the person who calls you to be incredibly curt. C) The owner, a sloppy red-headed woman named Emily Preece, is incredibly rude. She has an attitude that is not cut out for customer service or the retail business. If one of the many young girls working the counter are unable to help you (they usually aren't), Emily marches out of the back area in her sweatpants and t-shirt. She doesn't apologize for problems and clearly doesn't understand that the customer should always be right - or at least that the customer should be treated with respect. read more

Customer service is really lacking. I went into have two Christmas stockings monogrammed Over my lunch hour. When I dropped them off I was told that to monogram one initial or an entire name was $18 per initial. This didn't seem exactly reasonable and when I asked them about it they got offended. They did check with "the person in the back "and she did agree to do the one initial for discounted fee of $15 Per stocking. This still seemed expensive but I was there and I didn't want to have to find someone else. After being called and told that my items were ready, I went to pick them up. I was the only customer in the store and yet it took the sales person three trips to the back to find my order. They were decorating the store for the holidays and it seemed like they were too busy to deal with me. There are less expensive and friendlier places that do monogramming in town. IMHO read more

I have used them several times. The last two times I have been very disappointed. Today I went to pickup two very simple monogramed items four days after they were to be ready. First a 15 minute wait because they couldn't find it. Not with Name, Phone number, Dated ordered, Credit card, Items ordered or the date they said it would be ready. They had to see the receipt. Went home got the receipt which had NO information that I hadn't given them already. It then took them 10 minutes to find it. This was not one of the younger clerks. Their excuse was "there are lots of steps in the process so there are many places we had to look". (Sorry that is B.S.) They said it was in the "To Call" area. ????? Four days after it was to be ready to pick up, I still hadn't been called and they didn't think to start looking in 'that step in the process'?? I stayed patient and asked how many steps? They didn't know. Total of a 30 min wait with no one else in the store. AND the monogram was not straight! No apology at all! They just repeated their excuse and wished me a good day. This is a very convenient for me and l always try to patronize local businesses. But two strikes won't work for me. I will not go again. read more

I had names embroidered on 2 stockings I brought in. At the initial visit, the clerk was extremely helpful with thread color and font selection. She had great tips on how to make them look the best. They turned out so well! I'm not sure what comparative prices are in the area, but is was $38 for the work. I had a hard time finding a reliable place for monogramming, until I found the Monogram Lady. They do excellent work, and they provide a huge selection of anything you need (or absolutely do NOT need) to purchase and monogram. Warning: prepare yourself for a minimum of 30 minutes when you go in. The business is very old fashioned. With no computer data base whatsoever, it is very inefficient. (Word to the wise: don't forget that darn pink slip when you go to pick up!) They do good work, but bring a snack in case you get stranded while waiting. read more
