About a year ago, I ordered about 10 pounds of ground beef. The woman behind the counter went behind the wall where the butcher was, and within two minutes, she came with a clear plastic bag of ground beef. That was way too fast. I grabbed it and paid for it. I never checked the meat. That was my mistake. I went home and started making patties, only to realize the meat was sticking to my hand! Weird! I smelled it, and it had a rottenwouldn't do any smell to it! Gross! I went back the same day and exposed the thing to the butcher. He flatly denied anything wrong with it and told me off. I tried to have my 75.00 dollars back, but he wouldn't do any of that. I walked away, leaving the meat behind and took the loss. That is when my friends who hunted told me that the place had become infamous for doing those shady mixes with God-knows-what. They all walked away from that pigsty. read more

I've been a happy customer for years but new owners have recently taken over. I purchased 3 pounds of frozen lean ground beef from them last week. Opened the package yesterday and the meat was covered inside and out with 1/4 inch diameter black spots. Returned it to them and they apologized profusely and gave me a larger package to take home. Opened it and instead of being red, the meat was dark brown but I decided to cook it anyway. The bottom of the frypan now has over a cup of water that they had added to increase the weight and and the cooked meat smelled bad. Another good business destroyed by greed. read more

This place should not have a business license. We phoned the day before to book dropping a deer off, the lady reserves a spot for us for the next afternoon. We drive down from our hunt in the interior and show up with the deer at noon, and she tries to say she has no room now, we politely help her make room. While hanging the deer for her a guy shows up with a moose who also phoned to reserve a spot the day before, she is giving him the same story as we are leaving. 12 days later no call yet, so my hunting partner calls them and she says they will call back, too busy. After 3 more calls with no answer and no return call he drives over there. When he gives his name to pick up the deer, she gets sheepish and says they made a mistake and it was all turned into ground deer, it was supposed to be roasts, steaks and ground. He is not pleased at all, tells her to go get it ,and she comes out with one 3/4 full box(37 one pound packages of ground), he says wheres the rest of it and she cannot find it. So out of a 103 pound deer on their scale we get 37 pounds of ground. Do not go near this place, a bunch of thieves. read more

Quality local meats at very reasonable prices, in fact, much better pricing than you will get at choices or whole foods, and the meat may even be a better quality. The people that run Ennis are super friendly and knowledgable about Different meats and cuts and cam even do some custom orders for you if given some advance notice. I brought in a mule deer buck(Dressed, skinned, no head, no hooves) that they weighed at 103 lbs. on their hook. Directions were steaks, roasts and mince. I go in to pick up my order and am told they made a mistake and did the whole order as mince. I wasn't very happy, but when she brought it out, it was only 37 lbs. of mince. I said where is the rest? She said she didn't know and could not find it. I asked her to look again, She left to look again but said she could not find the rest. I couldn't believe it! I said I would like to talk to the owner, she said she was the owner. She started making excuses about being really busy the last couple weeks. She apologized and said she wouldn't charge me!!! She had stated that there was 40 lbs. of mince in the box she gave me, but when I got home and put it in the freezer, there were only 37 lbs. Very unproffessional to deal with from the beginning. This place was recommended to me by a friend. They have high quality meats and are very reasonable with their prices. The best part is that everything is done on site. Also, they do not inject hormones or anything like that in their meat. They also have some exotic meats for sale such as alligator or kangaroo. They can do a large order for you to fill your deep freeze as well. It will hard not to buy something when you are there. They are friendly and will give you a fair deal. read more

Just before Thanksgiving my wife and I ordered a ham. The next day we picked it up only to discover that it was labeled pork. My wife questioned this and told the clerk that we ordered ham not pork. The clerk reassured us that it was ham and not to worry. We arrive home, open the packaging and sure enough it was pork. We phoned Mark (the owner) and he sounded disinterested to the point that he did not accept any responsibility. He carried on with this negative tone and ended the conversation with "pork is pig, ham is pig, don't you get it? We got it alright! we ordered ham and got pork! If you're thinking about doing business with this butcher I suggest you use caution! read more

I love Ennis Meats. I have been going there for years. Seems like it is Langley's best kept secret but once you've been you'll be back. As others have stated high quality meats, afordable prices, superbly friendly staff and they will try very hard to accomodate your requests. The BC lamb is awesome. Took some deer meat there. asked for 20lbs Salami, 20lbs pepperoni. i got back 40lbs SALAMI? They found their mistake but didn't seem to concerned at all. No discount, apologies, nothing? The Salami was descent sure would have liked to have some peperoni. read more

I have never been treated with such disrespect or in such an offensive manner than I was treated today by Mark, the owner of Ennis Meats. I had 5 lambs butchered. I had asked for all the bones in addition to the meat. The front desk clerk wrote the request for the bones on only one of the five orders; a simple mistake. When I came to pick up my meat and asked for the bones I was told the order did not ask for the bones. I replied that I had asked for all the bones, but seeing as there was a mistake I could come back at another time and get the bones from someone else's lamb who did not want the bones. I was yelled at to say, there are no lamb bones, it is not the butcher's mistake, and to get off the property and never to come back; and further that he would never cut any meat for me in the future. You can be certain that I will find a new butcher and I recommend that you do the same. read more

I purchased a quarter of beef last March. After about a month we had tried most of the cuts and were very disappointed with the quality of the meat. the roasts and steak were touch, you had to cook the roast about 7 hours for it to be edible. the hamburger was fatty and also not tender meat. I called to express my disappointment. They said they would find out where the beef came from and get back to me, this is the first of November and I am still waiting for a phone call from them. I can. It recommend this meat supplier nor will I ever purchase from them again. Buyer beware on this one. read more

Have been using Ennis to cut my game as well as for buying beef, pork and poultry and the quality of the meat and the friendly service is always top shelf. I won;t darken the door of another supermarket for meat products again if I can avoid it. read more
