Cold food! I don't expect scorching hot but if you mess up chicken enchiladas and a tamale by sending them out barely above room temp that's unacceptable. I sent my plate back to the kitchen and my part of the meal was comped. At least my girlfriend's margarita was good and she liked what she ordered. Wr had the beef fajitas and the Taco Sauve special. The Taco Sauve was requested spicy. I was told that spicy was really hot, I should go with medium and so, I agreed. There was absolutely no flavor, let alone spice. I had both kinds beef snd chicken, no flavor difference. The fajitas were the same...bland. the refried beans and fried rice are some of worse we have had. Service was different. The waitress was constantly asking for confirmation for herself, she wasn't asking what we needed, but what we thought of her. My recommendation is that with all the Mexican restaurants in the area, go anywhere else. read more

I wonder what happened between the earlier four and five star reviews and my visit? Enriques was only minimally satisfying for lunch. The Mexican steak platter (Bistek a la Mexicana) was a thin piece of beef that looked and tasted pan fried. It was topped with a chopped onion and tomato salsa overly seasoned with black pepper, lime, and salt. Refried beans were also heavily salted. As was the dry Spanish rice. Every salty bite sent me to my drink. A garnish of avocado slices looked unappealing and as if they'd been sitting out a while. The highlights of the meal were the complementary light, crispy chips and the fresh salsa with lots of cilantro. read more

Our family has enjoyed eating here for the last 13 years. We live out of country and find ourselves craving their food constantly! The owner is pleasant and always takes time to check in on his guests ensuring they are pleased with their dining experience. On our last visit, we were thrilled to see a revamped seating area adorned with stunning paintings. It's like dining in an art gallery, but with way better snacks. The new ambiance is the cherry on top of an already delightful experience. Wish we didn't have to wait a year before getting to eat there again as we are craving it already! read more

I stopped here because Mexican food is a nice change from midwestern greasy fried food. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was very good and prepared perfectly. Place is in desperate need of some TLC. Table cloths are ripped, creaky ceiling fans, floors are hazy and stained. We almost walked out but had some time to kill so we gave it a shot. It was early afternoon so the 3 of us ordered a few appetizers. When we asked for small plates to share the appetizers we were told they would be $1 extra per plate. Uuuuh...ooook. I was a bit leery about coming here, having read the reviews about tattered tablecloths and whatnot. Rest assured, the place is spotless! I grew up in LA and consider myself something of a Mexican food snob, and my carnitas platter was as good as anything I ever had there. My table mate's taco salad was delicious as well. You won't be able to wash your meal down with a cold beer--they don't serve alcohol--but you won't be disappointed by the food, the friendly service and the ambiance. read more

This is a great Mexican restaurant with authentic roots. Especially for a small town. The food is really good. Try the potato chorizo soup. The best I ever had. Our meal here was overall, extremely good. The décor was very nice, which made it even weirder to see very oddly stripped, burned, or otherwise ratty tablecloths on all of the tables in view. Everything else was so clean, that was a very weird sight. I'd imagine it would be a minimal expense to replace the table coverings! But I digress...the meal was awesome. Enrique's has one of the best chile rellenos I've had to date, and my husband's smothered burrito had above average queso on it, with actual flavor. The beans and rice met our expectations, and pricing was average (acceptably so). Good chips, too. For a restaurant we had never heard of or visited before, in a very small town in the off season of Stockton Lake, this was a nice surprise. read more

Enrique frequently visits with customer's. Until Enrique's came to the area, I made my own Mexican food, but Enrique's Chili Rellenos are exactly as they should be! Portions tend to be generous. The salsa is watery, not spicy, and pretty much exactly what you'd picture in the middle of Missouri. The rice was very dry. Not much else can be said for the rest. This must have changed hands in the last few years. My husband was hit 3-4 times by the door that goes into additional dining space by employees. We ordered full fajitas and there must have been a short on vegetables because I would hate to see what a half order looked like. We were told that you get 1 refill on your salsa (for the traditional chips and salsa), then you will be charged. The child's taco was burned and without the lettuce we asked for. My husbands food came out about 8 minutes after our children and my food. No extra napkins (we have a 4 year old), had to keep asking for refills, and with locals gossiping over everyone's conversations, you really feel out of place. In my opinion, drive to Nevada, mo and eat at the Mexican restaurant on the square. It's so much better and not overpriced for what you get. I won't take my family back there.
