Every chance I get, I am recommending Ensenada Excursions to anyone going to the Ensenada area! During our Carnival cruise, our excursion to Valle de Guadalupe for wine tasting was the highlight of our entire cruise trip! They are truly a 5 star business because they are THAT AWESOME! We booked the upscale wine tasting package and it was just the best day ever. Our driver, Jose Luis Blanco, was friendly, prompt, and just a nice and sweet guy. He made us feel safe and is just so knowledgeable as he is from Ensenada. It was just my bf and I so it felt like we had our own private driver. We went to three beautiful wineries in Valle de Guadalupe and we did not feel rushed as he patiently waited for us. The wineries weren't too busy since it was in the morning so it felt like our own VIP experience. On our way back to Ensenada he asked us if we wanted to stop for tacos or souvenirs in the downtown Ensenada area before getting back on the ship. He even let us stop at OXXO for snacks! Though we didn't do the taco and souvenir stop though we had plenty of time to do so, it was just so nice and thoughtful that he offered that! He was just the best driver! 20/10! The best part is, we were back on the ship at 3:30pm and the ship leaves at 5:30pm. They will make sure you are back with more than enough time which was my biggest concern! Even if we stopped for tacos and souvenirs, we were still back to the Ensenada area around 3:00pm from our tastings with enough time to do this and be back on the ship on time. This company was just fabulous, I am so sorry that I never knew about them prior to this venture, otherwise, we'd have been using them all the many times we've been in Valle de Guadalupe. They followed up with confirming our visit, pick up locationa and time thru WhatsAp and direct phone numbers. We were picked up at the exact time and location by Gino/Genaro, who had a great van, air conditioned, and very clean. He has been working in the Valle de Guadalupe wine region for years, and knew all the many wineries and was charming and so informative. We all ate lunch at one of our favorite restaurants, the most famous pizza place high up in the forest. We had a wonderful day, and hit a few of the best wineries. My friend and I took a few more friends who had never been up to the wine country before and they were very impressed. read more

We decided to take a chance with a company not provided by our cruise and I'm glad we did. I found this company on a Facebook group I was on for our cruise heading to Ensenada. I had actually contacted another tour company but after our initial conversation they never wrote back to me. Jesse from Ensenada excursions messaged me back within a couple of hours of my initial message and answered all my questions. We explained we wanted to do some sight seeing with a focus on getting some good photo opportunities and good food. Jesse said the best option for us was to do a city tour where we could get a private tour guide for 2 hours and our guide would recommend some spots and we could tell him any other places or ideas where we wanted to go. That sounded exactly what we wanted and so we set the plans. He was able to book me a tour the day before we arrived at a great price. We booked at 10:15 and showed up closer to 10 and our driver was there waiting for us with a sign with my name and a Happy birthday message for my wife which she loved. Right away we hit it off with our driver and he took us to many local sights and places where we could get some great photo opportunities. He shared stories about the town and about his life and it felt like we were just ridding around with a friend. We told him that we also wanted to try some good tacos and he took us to a place that was amazing. To end it we wanted to do some shopping so he took us to the Main Street with all the shops and restaurants and gave us his number in case we couldn't find his car. We went to get a couple drinks at Hussong's and then did some shopping. After we were done we found his car and he happily took us back to the ship. We forgot our drives name. He was a young man with braces. I wish we remembered his name because he was amazing and deserves all the recognition he can get. Hopefully the company can figure out his name for me so I can update the review. As far as price it was We had to pay a $40 deposit with the rest of the $54 due at the end of the excursion. To us that was a great price and at the end of it all we were so happy and glad we took this trip with Ensenada Excursions. It was way cheaper than any excursion that was offered by our ship and we have actually taken an excursion by the cruise company in the past and felt like this one was such a better value and way better experience. It was such a great private tour and if we ever come back we would book with this company again. They offer so many other options and different experiences at great prices I highly recommend everyone check them out. read more

Wonderful experience! Booking away from the cruise line can be unsettling, however, we felt safe with Tomas (our guide). We were 30 min early to our arrival time and expected to wait but surprisingly he was there with a sign to welcome us. Tomas took us to the ziplining place, which is absolutely beautiful, and waited while we did the adventure. Afterwards, we went to visit the Bufadora. Tomas dropped us off and told us to meet him back in 1 hour so we could go to our massage appointment. We decided to sit down at the restaurant closest to the Bufadora which was a mistake. Food wasn't the greatest and we got conned into paying $20 for 2 songs. 4 guys came over playing music and just stood there around us. We gave them $10 to leave. I thought that was more than generous, however, one of the men said "uno mas" and put his hand out for more money. Next time we will just skip the uncomfortable environment. You have to walk past shops and pushy salespeople 2x just to get to the sight. It's not worth it in my opinion. Regardless, this had nothing to do with the excursion place. Tomas was very friendly and answered any questions the group had about the local area. Don't sit in the backseat of you get car sick. Tomas is a race car driver, lol! This team was so easy to work with. I planned a 25th Wedding Anniversary getaway to Valle de Guadalupe and was really counting on these guys to help make it all come together. They delivered 100% and exceeded my expectations, which made the whole experience fantastic for me and my wife. We had the trip mostly firmed up, but there were a few adjustments made late in the planning stage, and Ena and her team were very flexible and easy to work with, helping us make the most of our time in the area. On Day 1 our driver picked us up in San Diego and took us to two wineries before dropping us at our hotel. Days two and three included more wineries in the Valle, a tour of Ensenada, and a trip to La Bufadora. On Day 4, we were taken back up to San Diego. On all four days, the drivers were prompt and waiting for us at the agreed upon time. They were all very friendly and communicative, as well as flexible and accommodating if we wanted to make adjustments to the plan. We fell in love with the area and will definitely be back. Guillermo, our driver, was polite and helpful. His English was a bit hard to understand. But he did everything we asked of him. The blowhole at La Boufadora was fascinating. But we had to walk through too many shops with the sellers hounding us. And then had to walk back through that area. Our group did not stay the entire 2 hours allocated to the blowhole area. We only stayed 30 minutes at the most at the blowhole and the walk there and back was about 20 minutes. We had Guillermo take us back to the ship. I think the cost for what we experienced wasn't worth what we received. read more

*UPDATE* I talked to Jesse. I am impressed at the attention he gave this. He really does want everyone to have a great and special experience and this happened to be a one off. I appreciate the way he handled this and for that I will give another star. I think the idea of this company is great. Going through a third party is much cheaper than what the ship packages had to offer plus you get to build your day and choose the excursions that you want to do. The best part is that it's a private tour. It was just 3 of us for each excursion. Booking process was easy. You put a deposit down and pay when you arrive. I called a little before my trip to confirm and the guy who answered already knew my name. He was really nice and I appreciated that personal touch. Had everything gone the way it was supposed to I'd be giving 5 stars. Unfortunately it didn't start off well. He said a certain person would be there with a sign and something with happy birthday since thats what we were celebrating. When we arrived there was a whole bunch of people at an intersection holding signs, some from other companies. I found my name and we approached this guy wearing regular clothes and asked if his name was so and so. He said "No" then he looked at his colleague in a green jacket maybe cause he didn't speak much english. His colleague stepped forward and I say it again, "It says this person is supposed to pick us up." His colleague proceeds to say "yes, thats him!" We were a little confused and hesitantly said ok. So we went across to the other corner with a group of people wearing green jackets and he said he'll be back with the car. While we waited I went back to the message and it did say that the guy will be in a green jacked with the company logo like everyone else in that corner. So why is everyone else in uniform except for this guy? He showed up with a taxi car while the others were showing up in taxi vans. At that point we said No! Other than the sign that he could've taken from anyone he had no other link to the company. I called the company and spoke to a lady and she did indeed confirm that this person is supposed to be there in a green jacket. I explained to her that its not him and he definitely is not wearing the jacket. She said she'll call the driver and find out whats going on. As we waited we felt like we were bullied by the other colleagues who were trying to convince us that he is our driver. We are 3 females traveling, of course our guard is up and we are extra cautious. The same colleague that we spoke to earlier saying thats his name was also telling us the reason he didn't have a green jacket is because he's new and he hasn't received one yet. Then someone else stepped in and added that they all drive taxis so it's not going to say any logos. So we told them that we'll just wait for the lady to call back and see what she says. So it turns out our actual driver couldn't make it so he tried to send someone else and the office wasn't aware. The lady apologized which I know wasn't her fault but she then set up another driver. Our new driver that we now had to trust was the same colleague that had just lied to us 5 minutes prior telling us the wrong name and that he's new thats why he didn't have a jacket. We just went. He did try to recover from that incident by talking and telling us all about the different places on the way there. We were hungry on the way back but we were afraid to ask cause he seemed like he was eager to drop us off and be done with us. The ATV ride is a must!!! So much fun and the views were beautiful. It made it all worth it. We also did the horseback riding on the beach afterwards which was pretty much like 5 min from the ATV site. Im not writing this review to discredit the company cause again the people I spoke to on the phone was really nice and the lady was apologetic and fixed the problem. And maybe it was a one off but I just wanted to make everyone aware to make sure they know who they are getting into the car with and it's the right person. Juan took us around in a ford flex taxi. I booked over text and paid the deposit online. Juan was outside the gate at the port on time and took us quickly to Las Canadas and the Bufadora. Although the activities were fun, he took us to his favorite mariscos stand at our request and it's now my favorite mariscos stand. It's next to the Kia dealership in Ensenada. Tips: be aware the canopy tour requires several shaky bridges on thin boards. It's pretty sus and was scary for my 9 yo although he made it.
