This added to the fact that the "shuttle driver" doing runs to and from Caliber actually refused to wait 60 seconds (Caliber employee literally said "this will take less than one minute!') and took off. (And I'm not even counting the 25 minute delay this created for me in the additional hour they expected me to wait when I finally got the shuttle ride!! read more

This was by far the worst experience I've ever had with Enterprise. The customer service at the Duke Street location was completely unacceptable. I arrived at 7:30 a.m. to pick up my reserved rental car for a work obligation. No one acknowledged me when I walked in, so I approached the desk and explained to Gary that I was there for my reservation. After 10-15 minutes of checking the computer, Gary told me there were no cars available and casually remarked, "We were going to call you, but we didn't." For someone who represents himself as being in a management role at this location, Gary showed no ownership, no apology, and no attempt at service recovery. His behavior was the opposite of what you would expect from a manager. When I asked if any car was available, another woman interrupted our conversation without introducing herself. She rolled her eyes, raised her voice, and dismissively said, "We can't just put you in a car." Her tone was unprofessional and condescending. If she was going to interject, the least she could have done was say "excuse me" and identify herself. Instead, her behavior demonstrated an alarming lack of professionalism. When I explained that I would be filing a complaint, both Gary and this employee--who also claimed to be in a managerial role--seemed unconcerned. Gary even responded with, "Please do." That attitude, though especially from someone in a leadership position, reflects an absence of accountability, courtesy, and basic customer service skills. Fortunately, my experience later at the Edsall Road location was the complete opposite. The staff there were polite, professional, knowledgeable, and greeted every customer who walked in. It's disappointing that the Duke Street location, under Gary's supposed management and leadership, is not holding itself to the same standard. read more

This enterprise rent-a-car rent a location is unprofessional and uncommunicative. They rarely answer their phones and they don't have voicemail. They gave me a model way below what I needed with an almost empty gas tank. Most other vital fluids are not fully filled. I had an issue with the 50% excess charge that they added at the end of the rental which was ironic since I returned the car with gas well in excess of what they provided me initially. The person at the desk could not answer my questioned and promised the manager would call me back. The manager never called me and then still billed me for the full disputed amount. Worst experience in enterprise history, I've been a enterprise customer for over 3.5 years spending over $200,000.00 in that time no problem because normally they try to work with you and your situation. I got a call from Steven saying he was needing to charge my card $181.61, I said go ahead and he charged a total of $454.10 and tried giving me a breakdown of why like I'm stupid. If you want to be treated like your stupid by all means get a car from here. Loose a lot of money but if your not stupid shop at another rental car company. I was recently in an accident and needed a vehicle to get around. My insurance set up my reservation. As soon as the reservation was set, Enterprise called me right away and set me up for a pick up time. I arrived @ 5pm and waited a while since there was only 1 agent and she was with a customer. When it was my turn, the process was quick. I was able to get the size car I needed with a full tank of gas. The agent and I walked around the vehicle for a quick inspection then I was on my way. I removed 1 star only because even though it was a non smoking vehicle, it smelled like cigarettes. The smell went away (or I got use to it) after blasting the AC and having the windows down. But don't let that take away from the great customer service!! read more

I'm a little behind on posting my review but I couldn't leave the associate Lucas hanging. When I arrived at the location myself as well as my Uber driver was a little skeptical because of the construction around per the outside I would give it a three star but I am reviewing the associate and the customer service I received on my process. I had an emergency car issue and of course irritated and flustered but Lucas was truly friendly when I arrived. Lucas Taylor was patient and very flexible with me explaining the full terms and the difference in gaining the insurance coverage through the company vs my own he is very knowledgeable and mold tone which helps to balance a customer who is a little irritated lol. Money grubbers. Enterprise provided a professional organization waiver for under-25 fees, which made them significantly less expensive than other car rentals when I was under 25. Out of loyalty and appreciation for this hook-up that I took advantage of for years, I continued to rent from for a while after...even when Avis and Budget, etc became cheaper for me. I decided to give this location a try soon after moving to the area. I had been an Enterprise customer at different locations, in the South and the Mid-West, and they had all been accommodating and pleasant. However, this location was crowded with large families and small children, with not enough seating. The clerks seemed overwhelmed but strangely efficient. There was incredible pressure to purchase insurance from them, even after declining several times. They explained that it was very easy to get a dent or scratch or pebble in the windshield in this area, and they went over each car with frightening meticulousness - before and after - unless you bought insurance. The out-of-area fees are ridiculous. Online, it said NC, Maryland, DC were included in the price for Virginia rentals, but when I got to the branch, they told me that the policy had changed and I would have to pay an extra daily fee if I was taking the car out of the area (in all of the other Enterprise locations, a bordering state, such as North Carolina, would be included in the free-of fees-regional range). However, because they admitted that their website explicitly stated that North Carolina was included in the range and had not been updated to reflect this, they "did me the favor" of allowing me to drive to NC without paying extra. Though I am sort of grateful I bought insurance because of a slight mishap that happened while I was on the way to return the car, it was strange that 2 other people were returning their cars at the same time, and they were both doing insurance claims. The woman in front of me had a pebble indentation on the windshield, which apparently happened on the drive back to Enterprise as well. Though there were times I had purchased it (when I was a new driver), I had never before needed insurance, and I have not needed it since then. I can't complain too much about the pressure in light of the circumstances, but it did add an extra $300 to the weekly rental price, which is less than what they would have charged to handle the mishap. But overall, the aggressive overselling bothered me. And I do not want to feel forced to purchase insurance every time I rent a car. Also, I usually drive to NC (or somewhere farther away than that) and nobody else charges extra to drive to a neighboring state. Avis, Budget, etc have unlimited mileage and no specified range...and they always have specials. I would not go back to this location, and have not rented from Enterprise since then. read more

I'm so tempted to give them 2 stars, but I suppose it's kinda a situation of making the best with what you've got. You can't ever expect too much of these tiny Enterprise locations with short hours. I only used this location because the valet at my garage crashed my car and the repair shop was right by here. They came to the shop and picked me up - and took me back to the shop a week later when the car was done. The wait was horrendous. It gets quite crowded here on Saturdays as they are only open from 9:00am to Noon. Some people waited almost 30 minutes to get to the front counter. The car selection is extremely minimal. So be prepared to take something you normally never would. The staff were pretty evenly split - some were friendly, helpful, and nice, and some were borderline rude and completely unhelpful. So it's could've been better, but it also could've been worse. read more

This was actually my second experience with Enterprise in less than a week and I was equally impressed. That's saying something if your employees are just as superb in one part of the country as they are half way across the US! I needed a car for a one day trip to Richmond VA, I got online, picked one out and reserved it. So easy! When I walked into this location (which happens to be just around the corner from my house), I was greeted by everyone in the darn place. What's this? Happy employees who WANT to help customers? Wow. So, they've got a full fleet of standard size cars and want to know what I'd prefer to drive. I tell the guy he should choose for me. So, for no extra cost, he upgrades me to a Pontiac Grand Prix. Cool. We inspect the car for damage, he runs the paperwork and I'm off. Drop off later was just as easy. And just as friendly! I was almost tempted to ask if they had any job openings because obviously, this company is doing something right. We Actually Don't Have Time to Pick You Up and We're Going to Need you to Bear with us while we Train All of our New Employees on the Same Day So I have this friend (and, yes, it's actually a friend and not me) who needed a rental car while her car was being worked on. The auto body shop recommended Enterprise because it was close by and the rates were decent. *** Jump to when my friend needed the car *** Enterprise said they absolutely could not pick her up or bring the car to her because they were training employees. Ummmm ... okay. She went to pick-up the car and, from what she said, had an okay experience despite the fact everyone in the shop was sweaty (gross) from cleaning out the cars. *** Jump to when my friend needed to return the car *** She returned the car to Enterprise and asked them if they would take her back to the auto body shop. They begrudgingly agreed, but asked her if she was in a hurry. She said yes because she had to get back to work. Well ... they must have thought she said no because they brought all of the trainees with them to drive her back to the shop and literally drove ALL AROUND Old Town to show the trainees the town and some of the places where they allegedly pick customers up. Initially, we encountered a problem with our reservation -- when we arrived, the car that we reserved was not available. We were very upset because we needed it desperately and all other locations were closed at the time. We felt as though this could have been prevented with a phone call. However, we are ultimately very grateful that the people at this location helped us find a solution. Sam and Ryann (the area manager) worked really hard to find us another car and Sam eventually brought it over from another location (which had closed, but they worked to negotiate with that manager). The two other young ladies at this Enterprise location were also very understanding and kind. I value customer service when things are not perfect, because that's when it's most needed. And Enterprise did deliver in this respect. Despite this initial glitch, we left satisfied!! Exceptional customer service!!! Needed a car because I was in an accident. My insurance company referred me to THREE car rental businesses before I finally found a car. The first company never answered the phone (at 11 AM on a week day)--horrible. The second company didn't have anything bigger than a compact car--not doable (bcuz I'm 6ft tall, LoL). After an hour of screaming on the phone with my insurance company and giving up...this Enterprise location called ME saying they had an available car and even offered pick up service! Arrived at this location, finished paperwork and in my rental in under 20 minutes! Friendly staff, wide selection of cars and extremely quick! Had the car for almost 3 weeks (no problems). Staff where already outside (with another customer) when I pulled up on the lot. They took my keys and said I could go inside--where it was warm. They checked the car in and I was on my way in under 10 minutes. I will definitely keep location in mind for future rental needs. read more

I usually use Enterprise Rent-A-Car when I travel, either at airports or renting for more local travel. I have been using them for about 30 years now and I usually get good service. But there is a location in Alexandria Virginia (actually 2) at Duke Street (and St. Asaph Street) that have provided my family with the most EXCELLENT Customer Service that I have ever gotten from any business. There are several very helpful people there, but Crystal went the extra 100 miles and thought outside the box to help us with a challenging situation after my daughter's car was totaled and she needed a vehicle until the insurance company completed their processing. Crystal worked with us and the insurance company to make this process as easy as possible for my daughter. My wife and I can whole-heartedly recommend Enterprise, especially at these 2 locations. read more

This is the worst car rental location with horrible customer service! Unfortunately when making an insurance claim this is the location closet to the auto repair shop. The employees are mediocre at best. My insurance company tells exactly what size and type of car I am authorized and every time (this is the third) they have tried to give me something less. If the requirement states large luxury SUV, why would you think to offer me a Nissan Versa?? Then have the audacity to say it's temporary until you get your car back and oh, what do you drive? He swiftly fixed corrections with the contract and provided all the options for returning the vehicle. I was disappointed as they offer to pick me up and they were more than one hour late. They should at least have called me, but they didn't. I later called customer service and no one was available to talk to me so I was on hold for 15 minutes and then the call cut off and no one called me back. I called back and they said the car would be here in 10 minutes and it's already 20 minutes and they are not here. They are a close distance from where I am. Which is about 2 miles. Mr Healy though, who followed up was very understanding and fair. He's someone cares about the customer and his company. I had an insurance claim with an repair shop close by. I reserved a car a week in advance. They picked me up (and later dropped me back) at the repair shop. This pick up service CANNOT be under-estimated!! The car was VERY clean, 6000 miles. The ONLY glitch - which was really annoying since I called a week in advance - I requested a satellite radio, and it didn't even have a hookup for an outside device so I had to listen to terrestrial radio for 3 days. No CD player either. I forgot how much I HATE the radio. But all in all, the car was practically brand new, clean, very nice. The staff was friendly and professional. I had the worst experience at your facility and I will NEVER give business to you again! Your staff at Edsall Road location is not helpful at all, in fact, they are very rude. On 09/28 I had brought my car to Geico Collision and they provided me a rental car from Enterprise.On 10/2, when I returned the car, another rep(John Ray) checked the car, got the keys and told me that I will be reimbursed $50.00 security deposit and I will be charged $15.00 only. On 10/03, I noticed that I had been charged $87.95, so I went back and asked John why I have been charged that much. He said that the charges are for the insurance for every day that I had the car. I told him that I had declined the insurance, and that why wasn't I told when I came in for renting or when I dropped the car back off. Then his attitude changed, he was very rude and unprofessional. He started helping other members while I was standing in front of him. All I was asked for is not to be charged for something I didn't sign up for. I spent more than half an hour arguing with him.
