I used to use Enterprise all the time. I rented a car for nearly two weeks. I tried to research I formation on types of cars & prices at DCA. It was challenging getting someone on the phone. I had more of a challenge at Union Station. Only a manager could provide information on what cars were available and the managers had unusual schedules. So I gave up. Based on not getting clear answers, I don't think I will rent a car from Union Station. The location in Arlington had excellent employees. I was able to learn about their inventory and cost. This location has been in business for approximately 30 years. It is in a strip mall. If you rent a car, your spouse is automatically included on the rental. The employee walked me to the car and recorded any scratch longer than four inches. I took pictures of any dent that I saw. It was a bit intimidating driving a 2025 car that could practically drive itself. I thought a warning light was coming on. It was actually the car telling me to stay in the lane. The rental staff were nice about not laughing at me when I called to get information. I asked if it was possible to return the rental to Union station since it is more convenient. There is a $300 fee to visit another location. No one local sees the importance of changing this rule. The fee was established for drivers leaving a car far away and hasn't been reconsidered. I returned the car a day earlier than planned. The employee inspected the car & checked mileage and the gas level. She offered a ride to a repair shop. I told her I didn't need one. The return was quick. I would use this location again. The employees were nice and helpful. read more

I reserved a car for 9 am on Sunday. I showed up at 9:05, and the front door was still locked. A sign on the front door stated they would reopen on Monday. I took and Uber back home and called to change my reservation to a place actually open on Sunday, only to get an answer that oh actually this location was open on Sunday, they just didn't open on time and "could see how the sign was confusing." Absolutely do not recommend dealing with this place if you have any other option. read more

4 stars for everything that Aquila did today. I had to get a rental car because I had to turn mine in to get repairs done. Aquila helped me check in quickly and with a friendly tone. I really appreciate her. She was able to find an issue with the vehicle that she was going to give me and brought it to the managers Attention was able to go get me another vehicle. I don't normally rent cars so I don't have a whole lot of experience with that. But I got into an accident and my insurance company sent me here. When I arrived, I think it was Olivia. She was super helpful. I read in the other reviews she is the manager. I did not know that she was super down to earth, made sure I got the right size vehicle to fit me, and explained the process really well. She passed me on to other people to assist with the rest of the process again great customer service. Got the car didn't really like the car. That's not their fault. Would've liked to had more choices. I don't think that has to do with them either but that's why I'm not giving five stars. When I return same thing, Olivia agreed to me at the door, set my expectations, had someone help me and I was in and out of there fairly quickly. I think I will go here again if I wanna rent a car and see what my choices are and I think I will give it a five. It's a small location so maybe that is not something in their control either but I think this is a great location and worth the time for someone to check them out. read more

They will get you in a car, but the kids running this location have zero clue of their actual inventory. Vehicle turnover is slow, as you will have to wait several minutes (more like a half hour) for your requested vehicle to be detailed, if it is detailed at all. Cars are misclassified in their system and keytags, and you as the customer are required to pay close attention to the models and class of the vehicle to ensure fair ness of rates. If you are requesting a vehicle due to a repair covered by insurance, be prepared to drive off in the worst cars lacking basic safety features with nerve wracking exterior and interior damage. Do NOT trust recommendations from the staff, as it seems they will place you in the worst car possible and assume you cannot afford to pay the menial extra to get you in a decent car. You have to demand they tell you of your options. I'm not used to that. Never heard of that. However this location has done exactly that. Also, be prepared to wait for them to detail your chosen car that will later be declined because it needs "more detailing"as you watch later arriving customers drive drive off in vehicles that were never offered or quoted as "unavailable". Enterprise Plus Membership or calling directly for an honest report be damned. This is a profit only location, and not an Enterprise location that will provide to customer service frequent customers are used to. Never choose this location for an insurance loaner. It isn't worth the added insult. I seriously can't wait until my actual car is out of the shop. read more

Great customer service! Every worker in here welcomed us as soon as we walked inside. It was my aunt's first time driving this specific type of rental car since the gearshift was completely different and used buttons. We pulled aside a worker who didn't hesitate to help us at all, and even sat and rode with her while she test drove in the parking lot. We were in and out within 10 minutes! read more

Renting a car that has been reserved in advance (which is redundant, obviously) should take 2 minutes max. Here are the steps: Step 1: Present license Step 2: Get keys Step 3: Drive off At this Enterprise location, however, it takes almost AN HOUR. Step 1: Present license Step 2: Wait 45 minutes with no updates or communication whatsoever, unless you ask Step 3: Get keys Step 4: Drive off I don't know if they're poorly managed, understaffed, incompetent, sadistic, or some combination. I had my car being fixed at a nearby repair shop and State Farm gave me the option to reserve my rental car with these guys. They promised to meet me here at 8:30 am...no such luck. They picked up 7 other people who didn't have reservations and I am standing in the cold on hold waiting for someone to pick up the phone. I stopped by in the afternoon about an hour before they closed. I was able to get a car right away. My car was in the shop and had broken down so I gave no notice. I was able to get a car that was in my price range. The cashier and the employee who showed me the car were very friendly and knowledgeable. Also the employee who I interacted with when I returned the car was very friendly and helpful as well. Based off of this experience I highly recommend this location. read more

I reserved a Premium car for travel... I arrived on time and was told we have a "Hyundai sonata" for you. I said I reserved a Full Size Premium car? He politely told me that it was a hybrid and we consider this a premium car. I told him quietly and politely, that isn't a full size premium car... He said that with the gas mileage with would be great and that is how they classified the car. I told him I didn't really car about the mileage I like a big nice car. He changed the class of the car to a lower class and charged me less, since they didn't have any other cars. I have to say I didn't expect much from this car, but it had power and ran great... and it was my first time in a Hybrid car, GOOD LORD... it used no gas. I traveled for a week 750+ miles and only added $20 dollars in gas in it. I also pre-purchased gas from them... and when I got back to the location, it still had gas and he only charged me 1/2 of the total prepay. Overall good service, nice guys helping out and I learned a little about hybrid cars! Tip- on website maybe make a special class for hybrid class and costing?? read more

I also had a great experience at this location... which to be honest I wasn't expecting with some of the previous reviews. I want to say the young man that helped me was named Andrew? Anyway, no matter... he was very helpful in getting my rental. I own a convertible and he found me a convertible as my rental. I could tell he genuinely cared (which is rare with car rental services) and they met me at the car repair service right on time. He made this utterly painless for me, especially since I haven't gotten in a fender bender in over 20 years and was dreading the logistics portion of it all. Anyhow, would definitely recommend this location with that type of caring customer service...uh that's a rare find and goes a long way in my book (e.g. enough for me to take the time to write this review as a gesture of my appreciation)! read more

This review is regarding a visit of a few months ago. I had a reservation and still waiting a lengthy period of time prior to taking possession of the vehicle. Additionally (and most importantly), I feel this location is dishonest. Although the car was ready and available for them, they did not close the ticket out until the time it would be considered the following day and charged for the additional day. The vehicle was returned almost 24 hours prior to them checking it back in. I called regarding this and was told that they would rectify and send me a revised receipt. Enterprise, especially at the Shirlington location, have been no help with my rental process from beginning to end. A guy placed additional insurance to my contract without my consent that I said I didn't need. The payment was coming out of my personal account after explaining my insurance was covering my rental costs. That was a headache getting refunded!! In addition, I was never notified my limit for my rental was up and Enterprise was charging me daily for the rental after they had said and made sure I won't go over my limit! I spoke with the manager(a female) and she did not help at all. It seems as though they do not care for their customers and do not listen to their customers needs. I was given a contract that I did not ask for and now are charging my account for dues I'm not responsible for!! They are failing at customer service! read more

Ryan, Hillary and Brad are AWESOME!!! When a recent accident left me without my SUV, my Christmas was in doubt. My parent's place in NC is completely inaccessible without 4WD. I was happy with the little Chevy Cobalt they gave me to putter around in (I actually asked for the smallest car they had being as I have to park in DC for work) but with the biggest storm in years bearing down and worried about having something just in case for my Christmas trip the following week, I called on Thursday to see if they could get me something with 4WD to pick up on Friday before the snow started piling up. I called back on Friday and Hillary let me know they'd got one for me. In a shiny new silver Jeep Laredo I weathered the mounds of snow quite handily and though it turned out that I did get my car back in time for my Christmas vacation, I was thrilled that they made sure I could head home just in case. Even got to drive over a snow bank on Monday, just because I could :-) This is a small Enterprise location so they don't always have every type of car available. But the staff is very friendly and if you can let them know in advance of specific vehicle type needs and be a little flexible, they do try to accommodate requests. If I need to rent again, I'll probably be giving them a call. read more

CHECK YOUR RECEIPT!!!!! So this location was in close to proximity to a body shop that was performing repairs on one of our vehicles. We had a $600 allowance through our insurance for a rental car. I was quoted a daily rate of $42 for the car we selected to rent, which I felt very safe doing since the shop told me it would only be about a week at the most to repair the car. I figured this rate would keep us well below our allowance even if it ran longer than a week. When I got home and looked at the receipt from Enterprise (which at least I remembered to ask for, and yes - shame on me for not looking at the receipt when it was handed to me), I noticed the total was @ $590. How convenient with a $600 allowance eh? They bumped up the daily rate on the rental to $59 per day and milked that insurance company allowance for all it was worth. Although this money did not come DIRECTLY out of my pocket, I don't care for shady business practices like this. I expect to be treated with the same honesty and integrity that I offer to my clients in my career - my word is my word. For whatever my little opinion is worth, I will never again use or recommend this location. read more

I have rented a car a few times from this location and had no issues . But there was an issue that they admitted they were wrong and said our area manager will call you . Three days pass no call back so I called them again and they apologized and said again that our area manager will call you back. If not for the incredibly friendly staff there, I'd be giving this place one star. They have the worst fleet of cars I've ever seen. On my most recent rental, I rented whatever the second to lowest class was. Must have been "standard" rather than "compact". They pulled around a Chevy Cobalt for me that: 1. Had less than 1/4 tank of gas 2. Did not have automatic locks 3. Has freaking handcrank rolldown windows 4. A back seat covered in dog hair All this for the low price of nearly $70 per day. I drove off pissed and made it about 2 miles before I had to turn around because I felt so ripped off. I asked them to show me something worse than this car because since I had requested "not the worst" car, I just had to see something worse. What could be worse than that car? Nothing, and they deflected my requests and put me in something a bit nicer for no extra charge. So they did make it right. My experience previous to this one was very similar. A very crappy car without a full tank of gas. I'm torn because they truly are the nicest people in there... but their cars are just awful. How can you have a car with hand crank windows in your fleet? Unreal. read more

I've rented vans from here several times which are available at a good price, but with the downside this location is not open on Sunday so you can't rent it for just a Saturday. I also had a reservation once and when I went to pick it up the location was closed because they lost power, yet no one attempted to contact me to let me know. But after trying to use this company for the second time for personal travel i have decided to not use the brand again. The representatives at this location had less than exemplary customer service and it was only exasperated by reaching out to their corporate offices. Enterprise.. you just lost an Enterprise Plus customer that spent over $8000 with you last year, thanks to the way we were treated at the Shirlington branch by the new manager. In the days leading up to my visit to the office, I had asked repeatedly for a statement showing what the (WAY more than agreed/expected) numerous small charges were for during the previous month. Not only were my my requests ignored, but I was left obnoxious voicemail messages (which I saved) from the branch manager. I stopped by the branch Friday and was asked to come back Saturday. I came back Saturday.. no sign of him. Came back Monday morning with the intent of renewing the vehicle. I told the manager when we met that I needed to hurry because I was on my way to the hospital/not feeling well... I thought renewing the car and getting a statement (I had been promised) would be quick. There were complications.. the vehicle had a recall.. there was a small crack in the bottom of one of the bumpers... we were working through it all.. It "seemed" fine until I started making a big deal out all the delays (I had told them him repeatedly by this time that I was on my way to the hospital and did NOT feel well) .. I asked if there was anything we could do to expedite things.. I asked if we could resolve the details later.. again,.. reminding him I needed to get to the hospital. It then rapidly turned into one of the worst customer service experiences of my life. It was so bad that I intend to follow through with a formal complaint to EHI senior management... and don't know what you could possibly do to ever get me through your doors again. read more

The man who picked me up at the body shop was on-time, courteous, and friendly; the car I'd requested was waiting out front when we arrived at the location (clean and in great shape); and the manager I spoke to when I had a question was beyond helpful. This place sucks. If you have misfortunate of having to rent a car from here, ask for John. He is the only professional, customer-service driven person in the place. That includes the manager, Hilary. I was in an accident and needed a rental car while my car was in the shop (Arlington Collision Center, btw, who ROCK - but that's another review). I was referred to Enterprise and called to set up my rental the day before with VERY SPECIFIC instructions regarding another appointment I had and my time schedule. They GUARANTEED to pick me up at 9 am sharp at the body shop - which, by the way, is less than 1 mile away. Of course they're not there at 9; or at 9:15 or at 9:30. The receptionist at the body shop called them every 15 min and was given the same bullshit story every time: "They should be there right now out front blah, blah, blah." So at 9:40 they finally show up and take me back to their shop to get my rental. There I have to wait another 25 minutes. So by this time I'm WAY late to my dr. appointment, for which I will be charged. They put me in a car and I get out of there. The car's engine and oil light is on continuously and there's no windshield wiper fluid. Also, the car is bigger than what I requested so I'm uncomfortable driving it. I call them that night and ask if I can get another car - more along the lines of what I requsted. "Sure," says Hilary, the manager, "Come in first thing in the morning and we'll get you all set." So I arrive at 7:30 thinking they will be waiting for me with a car. Wrong. First of all, there was NO ONE in the office at all. It was wide open with no one there. Asking for a robbery much?? Myself and another guy sit there for a good 15 minutes waiting for someone to show up. Finally they get me squared away in a more suitable car and I leave (40 minutes later). This car (Fiat 500) again has an oil light that remains on the entire 3 weeks I have the car and, again, no windshield wiper fluid). This is the absolute WORST run place I've encountered. Terrible customer service. They're schtick is "We'll pick you up," which seems great and a step above. It should be "We'll pick you up IF and WHEN we feel like it and on the off chance we have a shuttle driver available." read more

This Enterprise does not pick you up! In fact, the blonde, female manager lied and said they were on their way, when the driver hadn't even left to get me. It took 45 minutes, depsite advance notice, to pick me up .7 miles from the location! I am so sorry I didn't walk, despite the 100 degree weather! My experience with Enterprise in the past has always been great, whether renting cars at airports or as temp vehicles while my car was in the shop. So it sort of pains me to give this location just three stars. As expected, the service here was very friendly and efficient. But........I had reserved an "Intermediate SUV" (Ford Escape or the like) for a road trip to Omaha last summer. I was hauling DJ equipment for a gig, and the size and price was right for this vehicle class. My trip was in August and I had walked down to Enterprise--in person--in May to make it clear to them that I want a vehicle in the Intermediate SUV class. They said "they can't guarantee that rental, but it shouldn't be a problem, as they have plenty of those vehicles in their inventory." Why can't someone who is reserving a rental three months ahead of time get the actual vehicle he reserved? When I went to pick the vehicle up, they brought a Nissan Maxima out. Not quite an SUV. They apologized and said they had no SUVS in inventory. One star docked. In Morgantown, WV, I noticed the "Check Engine" light illuminated. The steering wheel had blocked this part of the panel display, and I didn't notice the light until I lowered the wheel. It could have been lit for the entire trip. Being the constant worrier who expects everything to go wrong on long road trips, I pulled over and called the Enteprise office - but they were closed for the day. I called the main customer service line and the woman suggested that I take the car to a Jiffy Lube the next day. HUH????? She said it shouldn't be a problem, but just in case.....or, I could wait until Enterprise opened the next day, and swap it out. I wanted to get further than Morgantown for my first night, so I decided to risk it and keep driving. The car ran fine, no weird smells, no smoke, no strange vibrations. Long story short, I made it to Omaha and back to DC without any problems. The Check Engine light was on the whole time. Turns out the light wasn't "reset" after the car had been serviced. I mentioned to them, nicely, that they could have warned me about that light beforehand. It was a car I didn't even reserve. They apologized but no "make the customer whole again" discounts were offered. Lesson learned: In addition to checking for random pebble nicks, scratches, and the amount of fuel before leaving, make sure no miscellaneous "check engine" lights are on. read more

I am impressed with the ease of online reservations. I am always impressed with the people who work at enterprise. My best experience recently was to get my rental from the Shirlington location because the location suited me, and the people are fabulous. The one star missing is in the past the pricing was a little crazy depending on where you picked up your car. I did not get the sense that I was being charged more staying local. Airport business is freaky crazy and unless there is a super incentive I avoid getting rentals from airports. But Shirlington, the missing star is there for you! read more

My review is based on incredibly long wait times. While the staff was very efficient and nice it did not make up for the 45min wait I had to pick up a car. It is truly a disservice to the staff who were working as hard as they could. Management needs to control and MANAGE reservations better. They should NOT have 15people come in at the same time to pick up a car. Not only can their small office not comfortably hold that many people but the staff can't possibly assist everyone in an efficient manner. So while the staff is incredibly nice I would not go back or recommend given there are so many other choices in the area. read more

As with Enterprise overall, customer service is not the focus; I am sometimes forced to use Enterprise and I am familiar with many locations. As an Enterprise Plus member, I can tell you being a regular customer makes no difference. Employees, called Management Trainees, are trained to follow a scripted routine with customers which rarely accomodates quality service. Only once in a while do you find a individual who will go off script and engage; even when that happens the cars are usually dirty and rarely are the gas tanks full. The quality of the cars is also disappointing; they are often of poor quality and well worn. Enterprise is the only car rental company that has ever offered me a downgrade for the same price. Enterprise was once a good company; I don't think I describe it that way any longer. read more
