We waited in the lobby for 20 minutes for a vehicle that was supposed to be ready by 1.5 hours prior to our arrival. They were training the person who was processing our information, giving them unclear and contradictory information that resulted in the trainee just sitting there waiting for instruction. Beware of false quotes! Rented a car for two days here...Toyota Corolla. In the morning of August 14. I called to ask how much it would be to keep the car for an extra 2 hours. I spoke with Justin and he told me it would be $72 for the 2 hours and I agreed. I even confirmed with my bf about the price while Justin was on the phone with me. We agreed to $72 on the phone while Justin was on the line. When I went to return the car, my receipt had 3 days. The associate helping me said Justin didn't remember talking to me in the morning and he was going to charge me $61 per hour for 2 hours...so a total of around $120. I would have not agreed to that and I would have returned it on time. Instead of owning up to their error/ miscommunication, the fault was placed on me and their response was they would "fix it for me" even though they didn't fix it to what was initially promised. I know it's only $50 but there is no integrity here. read more

This Enterprise rental shop provided one of the best car rental experiences I've ever had! We needed a rental to drive to Fairbanks for the weekend and since my brother lives nearby this location and I have a company code, we decided to choose this company. The booking process was very simple and the staff were very proactive on calling me when they believed the car wouldn't be available as early as I had booked. When I got to the rental center, I was greeted kindly by the staff and they correctly pronounced my name the first time! We did the walk around inspection of the vehicle and everything was paperless. Very COVID-conscious and all COVID measures were practiced - social distancing, wipes were provided, masks were worn. The vehicle was in great condition with the exception of the cigarette burn on the top of the driver seat. It did smell a bit, but otherwise, very clean and new-ish. When I returned the car, the check-out process was seamless. I also called in advance and because my brother was only 3 miles away, they said they could drop me back off! That was really great customer service and like I mentioned, the staff are all extremely professional and friendly. I rented a car online (while on a stop in Seattle) a day before needing the car. While I was in the air flying to Anchorage I had a message from Enterprise to call them about my rental. By the time I landed the office was closed. I had booked the car for 8 am the next morning which is when the office opened. While having breakfast the next morning before going to pick up the rental car, I got a call from my husband saying Enterprise had left me another message on my home phone. I called back right away and was told they didn't have a car for me and asking if I could push my pick up to later that day. Obviously nobody was paying attention to my rental times because I had stated on my reservation I would have the car back by 8pm that night. I was only in Anchorage for that day. The young lady was pleasant but I told her I could not push back my time. We were only using the car for the day to do some sight seeing. She told me I might have to wait on a vehicle when I got there. Not what you want to hear when you only have a limited number of hours enjoying the beauty of the area. When I got to Enterprise they did have a vehicle ready for me. As an Executive VIP with National (same parent company as Enterprise and the company that I reserved through) I am used to getting some great cars. The mini van I was given did not qualify as one of those but I did appreciate that they had a vehicle for me. As we jumped on the highway I noticed a tire pressure indicator light that was on. Since I had no desire to be stuck on the side of the road I called the office right away. I was told the person that had cleaned the car had put air in the tires and I should be ok. They did say I could come back and we might need to swap out the vehicle. Considering that they had a hard time coming up with the mini van I received I had no idea how long that would take. So I took me chances and we ended up being okay. But it certainly gave me concern. Especially since we were three ladies venturing out into an unknown area. I returned the car around 2:30 that day, not long after they closed for the day at 2:00. Return was super easy. You just park the car in the lot and drop the keys in the slot. We had pre purchased our gas because the price was over $1 less than what you paid at the area gas stations. When we received the vehicle it had less than 1/2 a tank. Also not how I am used to receiving my rentals, but still glad they found a vehicle for me. I received an email within a few days following up on my rental and telling me I could respond with anything I wanted to share about my experience. I basically responded with everything I've written here. I did expect some kind of response to my email but never got one. I also had a voicemail on my home phone thanking me for renting with them and letting them know if my experience was anything less than five stars. Since I had sent an email letting them know my issues I didn't think I needed to call also. It felt more like the email and voicemail I received were about checking the box versus getting real feedback and following up since I never heard back from them. Not my greatest rental experience by any means. The employees I spoke to were nice and polite. Just don't get how you can get a confirmation from a car rental place for your rental and then not have a car. read more

A 4-star review for a CAR RENTAL AGENCY, have I gone soft? I know, I know, it's impossible for car rental joints to get more than 2-stars on Yelp. However, the service at this one was incredible, quick, and efficient. The staff were knowledgeable, and eager to help me out. (I was helped out by Rony/Rory(can't tell by his handwriting, he didn't have business cards yet), give this kid a raise!) My car was covered by Geico. My ride was recently totaled, so they gave me a vehicle here for about 10 days. I got a Nisan Frontier (midsized truck), it was fun to drive. However, the tires on it were terrible in snow. The 4x4 truck with mediocre all-seasons (snarkily referred to as "no seasons") handled noticeably worse than my late-great FWD sedan (with snow tires) did in the snow. Let that be a lesson to you folks: tires matter much more than drivetrain! That's the only reason I'm not giving them 5-stars, they don't have snow tires on any of their vehicles. read more

Excellent overall for the money. Booked a rental for a week online at a great price 3 months in advance. The closer you wait to reserve, the more expensive it will be. Rental from this location saves you about 18% due to non airport taxes. Saved over $500 in costs compared to airport location. Cab fare was only $20 which is still a bargain! No words can explain how much appreciation I have for Enterprise and their staff! My girlfriend had made a reservation with Avis for a car when we had got off the plane and when we went over to Avis they had no idea about reservation. That's fine because they said they would take care of us. So they had a car but now we needed a credit card and that's policy? Well we don't have a credit card but just a debit card and we were pretty much shit out of luck. So we had to call several places and this enterprise was the only place that had a car ready for us but we needed to provide bills and proof of income and here we are just arriving in Alaska with nothing. So we gave it a shot...we walked 10'blocks with all of our luggage to Enterprise. Once we got there we were greeted by a wonderful staff and Gabby was absolutely amazing. I went up to her and the story started with, "listen we got fucked by Avis...how can you help us out today?" The rest was as smooth as it could be, they made the process less painful and forever has our business after the shitty Avis experience. Gabby was not only personable but we ended up finding out she's only been there for one week. After handing us off to the car she ended up telling us points of interest to ensure we end up as well which we took her advice and it was all worth it. I am disappointed with Enterprise. They are charging $700.00 for a cracked windshield. This is Alaska...windshields crack every single day due to all of the gravel on the roads. The manager told me that "If we had to pay for every cracked windshield we wouldn't make a profit." Additionally, I spent almost an hour waiting for my car while the company helped other guests (primarily men) before me. I also heard the employees say several times that they were worried because they were overbooked and likely would not have enough cars for the listed reservations. Okay so we've all heard the phrase "we'll come pick you up" well guess what, in Alaska there is a catch. Once upon a time it was my birthday but I worked a night shift at the NS Program near Lazy Mtn. So I was actually hit on my way to work. Nice young fella agreed he should not have turned left on my green. Long story short, I'm instructed to use Enterprise by his insurance company. But problem was Wasilla had no vehicles that were available. Anchorage airport had plenty but they have a policy they can't do pick up. So I was a man with little connection at the time so I slept one night in my agency break room and another in my car. Third day my employer found a way to drive me to Anchorage Enterprise because they continue to say they can't pick me up and Wasilla only had a huge passenger van. Once I did have a rental car it was pretty good. Tried to exchange but over 30 days they said I already had their best mpg vehicle. Im sure it was just one unfortunate experience but I'm not sure if I will put my trust in them. Can't pick me up and can't get a vehicle to me. I guess I was supposed to get a cab to them. read more

After reading the abysmal reviews of the car rental shops at Anchorage airport I decided to pick up a car in town. Great experience at this Enterprise location. Booked through Costco and received a complimentary upgrade from mid size sedan to suv (Ford Escape), which made the trip very comfortable. Car and tires were in great shape (20K miles on odometer). Pickup was quick and drop off equally easy with a great deal on prepaid gas. Customer service was great from all the representatives - never felt like I was getting upsold or pressured into anything. Hehe gave us many options at an awesome rate. I recommend getting an auto start in the winter to get that car warmed up ahead of time. Absolutely fantastic customer service. I usually write my reviews on Tripadvisor, however they don't seem to list car rentals. Anyways I made reservations through Costco months in advance which ended up saving A LOT of money. To begin Enterprise ended up putting us up from our location very quickly. There was a bit confusion with the reservations, so they ended up offering a better vehicle for the same price quoted. Everyone there was extremely friendly, especially Amanda who helped us resolve our situation. The vehicle was great with 0 problems after driving over 1500 miles throughout Alaska. After returning the car they offered us a shuttle back to the hotel which worked out great. I've rented from Avis and Budget in the past year from multiple locations and the quality of staff doesn't stand up to the service Enterprise offers. I would highly recommend renting from this location! Top notch customer service from all the staff! read more

The customer service at Enterprise on 5th Avenue wen the extra mile for me. Matthew was genuinely kind and thoughtful. I had a car accident resulting in a slight concussion, back and neck problems. I just asked for the most comfortable seats in whichever car they had available in the class the insurance company stipulated, but Matt, being compassionate and more concerned for my physical situation and comfort, gave me a better vehicle that was available. They know how to take a reservation, they just dont know how keep the reservation. We had a car reserved in Anchorage for 6/20 only to find upon arrival that they had given the car to someone else. The company that "picks you up" can't help me return my car. Apparently they can't have more than one person leave their office. But I'm the only person in my office. So I can't leave either. In fact, it took me more than a day to pick it up in the first place, and even though I called to ask what to do about that, they just said "cone when you can, as long as it's before 6pm." No one offered to pick me up. So now as I'm in hold trying to find a way to return the car, I hear the gold message about how they're the company that "picks you up". Just not me. Or my car. The girl kept giving me these amazing solutions like "it's ok there's a key drop box so just drop it off after you pick up your baby." Oh and walk from there to the bus station with my baby? Give me a break. Just come get my fricking car. read more

I haven't used Enterprise in a while and this experience means I look elsewhere next time. This location definitely needs some work. The vehicle we received was filthy. It was obvious it had not been cleaned at all from the previous renter. The inside was dirty, spilled stuff all over, needed vacuuming, and still had garbage in it from the last renter. The outside I can deal with, but it would have been nice to have it at the very least, hosed down to remove the accumulation of road dirt. It also had less than half a tank of gas in it when it was given to us. The front windshield had two significant glass chips in it. The person who checked us in commented that he didn't understand why they hadn't dealt with them before giving us the car. The larger of the chips started to crack a few days after we got the vehicle and by the time we returned it two weeks later, there was a 10" crack in the windshield. So their lack of action means they will now have to replace the windshield on the vehicle. Another problem we experienced was the fact that this location does not service the airport. What happened to Enterprises slogan "we'll pick you up"? Apparently it doesn't work with this location. Something about the fact that they're in a different tax bracket. So add another $60 in cab fees for your rental if you are coming and going to the airport if you use this location. Overall I wasn't really happy with this rental experience. The people I dealt with were all very polite and professional, but the vehicle itself gets a low rating. read more

I rented a Dodge Dart from Enterprise in Anchorage this month. The staff was great, very friendly and helpful. The car was not very clean so they took it back and wiped it so that was fine. However I noticed later that it did have a faint musty smell. I did not have the time to take it back and get it replaced. It drove nicely and had a big trunk which was needed so I really like this aspect. I had my two sons with me who are of average height. They were not comfortable in this car. The one who sat in the front was somewhat ok but the one sitting in the back had to slide down such that his head won't hit the top of the car so definitely do not rent this car if you will have passengers over 5' 8'', this of course is not Enterprise's fault but perhaps they can add a note to the criteria for renting this vehicle for someone like me who does not know much about cars. Again wonderful staff, very helpful for directions and hints as to places to see and how to get there. I would definitely rent from them again. read more

I rented a jeep from them over a week ago. My plan was 2 days & i was only 1 hour late dropping off. Got a voicemail from the girl AJ the next morning saying I owed them 65 cents because I kept it another day? I didn't know an hour after closing is considered a day. I was told when i picked it up that they would follow up with me if I dropped it off after hours & that I would only be charged the time I was in the vehicle. Terrible customer service! I never write reviews, but with how long I have been in customer service and the way my call was handled as a frustrated rental customer, I feel the need to do so. This complaint is mainly about Quandy E. Rodrigues Management Assistant who took advantage of me during the pickup of my rental and for her rude and horrible customer service skills when I called as a frustrated concerned customer to ask her about the overcharge on my account. When I picked up my rental that was "covered" through insurance, all except gas and mileage which was explained, I ended up paying for things I did not ask for nor was I educated in. I have never rented a vehicle so new to the process. The representative, Quandy, was nice and seemed to know what she was talking about so I did what she recommended because I had mentioned it was early and I was not awake enough. I was told I would be putting down $50 which most likely would be getting back, paying for gas that was already in the car, and insurance on the vehicle (which I was told later by my insurance I did not need and that the representative should have educated me on this, will get more into this later). When we did the walk around vehicle it was fast and I pretty much was able to drive off of the lot. She mentioned that I would be updated on everything through email with invoices, etc. The shop had my car longer than expected (total of 15 days) which I knew would be different for the rental terms. I returned the vehicle after filling it up with gas on Monday July 16th, and went inside expecting I would need to fill something out or see what happened to that $50. The guy (did not get his name) said I could drop the keys with him and they would email me the receipt/ invoice. I thought, crazy easy! Sweet! I waited for the invoice or an email from enterprise and never received one it is now a week later. I still do not have one directly from enterprise. I looked at my bank account to look at my charges Sunday July 21st and saw a $560 charge from enterprise on my account! To my knowledge I signed a receipt in store for pick up much much lower than that! I called enterprise on Sunday July 22nd midafternoon and to my surprise the representative who I dealt with for my rental pick up answered the phone. So in my mind she hopefully remembered me or at least she was nice so I was happy to talk to her, at first. I gave her my name right away and explained my situation, rented a car through insurance and looked at my credit card statement and how much it was and never received an email to finalize this absurd price. She, Quandy E. Rodrigues Management Assistant, cut me off to tell me she had a line of people in their lobby and that she would have to put me on hold. I was stern and said "no you will take my phone number and call me back, I am not waiting on hold", she rudely said "I can't actually guarantee I will call you back today, so I am going to put you on hold" I thought, how long were you going to leave me on hold if you couldn't guarantee you could call me back that day? I have been front desk manager at many locations. I work with hundreds of people daily, hundreds. You never respond to a customer like that! I hung up on her because of how rude she was, her tone was awful! The call could have ended in so many other ways. Yes, I will take your number, or it is better for me if I can put you on hold so I can get back to you sooner. Any other way than "I can't guarantee I will actually call you back today"! I called my insurance company the following day and explained my situation to them, they were amazing, but said I was definitely taken advantage of by Quandy for the "up sale" of two different daily charges because she did not explain them to me or educate me on them. I was also charged $44.64 for gas when I brought the tank back completely full! Thankfully my insurance company had a statement they could email me with the charges. I have the receipt for it the gas I paid for. I will be contacting upper management through a friend and making sure I let everyone I know to not rent from enterprise. read more

They are charing me 1400 dollars for damage to a car that I did not do. This is for parts, labor and lost revenue. If you rent here insist that the car be put on a lift and inspect the underside for damage from previous drivers. Also insist that the car be washed so you can inspect every detail. Take pictures and movies of the car before hand for proof. They are pulling a money grab and it is not fair. read more

Renting in Downtown Anchorage is cheaper then at the airport however I was hoping that someone from Enterprise will pick me up from the airport but that unfortunately didn't happen even though when I booked online I received a message that pick up is available.
