Was charged $500 for a "damage waiver". Was not told the cost at time of pickup. Who wouldnt take a damage waiver? Anyone who knows it's the same cost as the deductible on your insurance. Total scam. Even my insurance company went to bat for me as it was their rental reservation. The $500 is pure profit for Enterprise if you don't tamale the car. A prepaid deductible and non refundable. I had alway had very positive experiences with Enterprise. I will not use them again if I have other options. read more

No problems with the local team. But their online CS is horrible. Got charged for tolls 600+ miles away from where I picked up my rental less than 1 hour previously. When I called the number on the email (the Enterprise logo was first foremost on the email and the receipt), they (HTA) had the wrong vehicle linked to our account. Enterprise's online CS said that despite the email and charges coming from Enterprise, they had nothing to do with them. They have yet to reply how HTA showing the wrong car being linked to us isn't Enterprise's fault. If company charges a customer based on incorrect information from another company, the issue is between the 2 companies. A responsible company should immediately fix the problem for the customer and deal with the each other company after. read more

dont rent a car if you dont have a chip in your debit or credit card. they wont rent one to u. large deposits on your card held and is JUST NOT acceptable. will tell eveyone is know not to rent from these people. it makes no dam sense i even offered to pay cash NOPE still gotta have that dam chip. there are MILLIONS of people out there who still dont have chips. unfair and unprofessional to leave a person without a rental car when your was just totalled. other companies were not availble with cars or i would of gone another route corporate called today and all i got was im sorry its our policy blah blah blah so im just scrathing them off any business list to anyone you cant tell me i'm the ONLY 1 who doesnt have a card without a chip. seems judgemental. read more

My first time renting a car, and on the drive from Kentucky to Appleton, a rock hit the windshield and by the time I made it to Wisconsin there was a crack across half of the glass. After a call to the Enterprise location where I picked it up at, they said to bring it in to another location and switch out for a new rental. I needed an SUV for stuff-carting-purposes and the location at the airport didn't have ANY cars, let alone SUVs. This location did. But they seemed to have no idea how to handle a trade-off. They mentioned several times that they didn't know how to process out-of-state rentals (like...WHAT?!...you are a car rental business...c'mon!) And they didn't know what to do with my car insurance from another state. So they put nothing in the incident report regarding my insurance information, nothing in the report about what the incident actually was, AND they insisted on charging me for my full deductible for windshield replacement. In Kentucky, glass repair is covered if you have the insurance coverage I have. I shouldn't have been charged anything, let alone $500. Eventually I *did* get a replacement rental SUV, and when I got back to Louisville, they refunded the $500 they charged me here. But then I still got a bill regarding the windshield replacement because NO ONE EVER TOOK MY INSURANCE INFORMATION when handling the situation. read more

I've been coming to this location for almost a year and have had pretty decent service most of the time. The people are usually pretty friendly- JP, John, and a few others I've missed their names- have taken good care of me. My rentals are always straightforward- a compact for a few days, reserve with a credit card, pay with my debit, bring back with a full tank. The only issue I've had, and its a minor one at that, is the interior cleanliness of the cars. Why in the world do they take the floor mats out of their cars? It would make cleaning so much easier, especially in the winter. The windows aren't always clean, and sometimes the seats are soaking wet for some odd reason. Overall, I give them a 90% out of 100 for overall satisfaction. They get the job done and I'd recommend them. read more

I'd like to give 2.5 stars. We just switched back to Enterprise from AVIS. There are some growing pains, things aren't exactly the same, but in the end the car gets you from point A to B. Enterprise has failed on the simple little things that make you wonder 'what else is not taken care of'. I rented cars two consecutive weeks. The first car smelled of smoke and the windows (inside and out) were dirty. The second car had dirty windows on the inside. This is frustrating especially in the rear window, it was very difficult for me to reach and even attempt to clean. There's no excuse for dirty windshields, what does the customer look at the whole time? This are easy low hanging items to do to ensure customer sat. As a business renter, they are generally receptive to time extensions should the trip extend unexpectedly. read more

I was given a car with expired plates and an oil change notification kept popping up on the screen. I would be traveling more than 300 miles with this car. Having a vehicle that only had "3% oil life" left (according to the message on the dash) made me feel uneasy and unsafe. It was then brought to my attention that this car also had expired plates. I risked getting pulled over during my drive to the Milwaukee airport. Happily, it didn't happen. However, having that even be a possibility is unacceptable. This car was given to me with a half-full tank. Although I realize that I wouldn't be responsible for having the tank full when I returned it, I would be driving from the rental store down to Milwaukee. A near 200 mile drive. Stopping to fill up the tank was not on my to-do list. I've used this rental company twice in the month I was in Wisconsin. My first experience there was great. The employee, Brent, was friendly and courteous. He explained the car's features (push start, the dial knob for changing gears, etc) and walked with me around the car to see if there were any scratches or dents. However, the second employee who assisted me (I didn't get his name, as he didn't introduce himself) rushed through the process. I received the same car as my first visit, so thankfully I was aware of the inner workings of the vehicle. When he was doing the car check, I was standing off to the side and could clearly see a dent on the side of the vehicle. When I pointed it out to him, he brushed it off and mentioned that it wasn't larger than a golf ball, so it wasn't necessary to note it on the paperwork. When I insisted because I didn't want to get charged for it, he shrugged, saying "I'll put it on the side, but really, you don't need it." Basically, I had two completely different experiences with the same vehicle at this location. The first was great and the second was terrible. read more

Avis, although a good deal, beware. If you hurt the car, they will send you to collections before sending you a bill. I've always paid on time, have never been to collections. So to be sent to collections with no correspondence was completely ridiculous. This company was so difficult to work with as well. They do not like to work with your car insurance and say that you should have used their insurance. We will never rent from an avis again. Zero stars for screwing up our credit. read more

When we rented our car we told the agent we wanted the basic plan coverage insurance but did not need the roadside assistance as we both had AAA+premium coverage, get back and are charged 34.00 a day for the roadside assistance which we never wanted, so moral of the story re-read every place on the contract before you initial as we got taken for things we didn't ask for I guess that's how they make their money. read more

Now this low rating isn't entirely the locations fault but a good portion of it is their issue. I rented for business purposes as I had meetings in Madison, then Appleton, then Milwaukee and felt a rental to be a solid choice instead of adding miles to my older file guzzling truck. As they chatted me up at the counter they had the opportunity to add in a GPS - never even offered it. The vehicle, well the salesperson couldn't even explain to me how to sync my phone or anything at all - said he wasn't sure and didn't offer to find out so it took me 20 minutes while I was parked to sort out the sync procedure. I won't get too in depth about the other issues but I had no heat for periods of the drive as the heater kept going off and it was not a digital or auto temp - was a simple set it and it blows til it's turned off. Car had an odor in it from the get go, had to stop and actually have it cleaned and freshened up at car wash. Strange grinding when in idle, was subtle but concerned me that the car would break down just the same (thank goodness it was stressful to hear but never broke down). I stopped at bank and rolled drivers window down (49 degrees) and damn thing got stuck down for next hour and a half going up 41 northbound at 70 MPH - COLD!!! Finally decided to get unstuck with no apparent reason for the sticking. Now okay the location made some errors here and should check their vehicles better, but customer service.....well I called TWICE. First time I was transferred 3 times and hung up on or call dropped. Never got a call back so no idea and meetings took over so didn't try until next morning to reach again. Second attempt I explained what happened day earlier and was told hold for a moment, they never even bothered to ask me for name or number or rents location or anything at all - just can you now hold a moment since you spent 10 minutes explaining. Well held for 49 minutes! Yeah enterprise FORTY-NINE MINUTES!!!!! I was livid and finally hung up. I gave up. Vehicle was returned early this evening. I won't bother trying to call their customer service number at this point, my time is a bit more valuable than another 49 minute hold time and another 10 plus minutes of explanation. I used to rent from Hertz on a regular basis and sadly they don't work with Costco Members any longer. Enterprise, I used your service because Costco listed you as one of the companies they offer member special pricing thru. I had planned on renting again on Friday for a weekly rental and have more than 3 more weekly rentals needed over the next month and a half. Please answer me this simple question - how can you expect me to give you over $1,200 over the course of the next month and a half when your employees don't all seem to care if a customer has to waste time figuring out vehicle tech procedures or not, cars aren't completely cleaned, and customer service number is a literal joke? Well it was a little late for the initial rental issue but the local branch made a serious effort to make things as right as possible both with my current business rental as well as their word to take care of me on my next personal rental. I can't and won't say much for the 800 customer service but the local branch in Appleton on college avenue is certainly Will no to listen to their customers and make them feel like their issues matter and that we are not just a number. I'll update after this rental is complete but I had to give a shout out to this local enterprise for turning it around. read more

Vehicle was clean and comfortable. Staff was helpful and friendly. Had a great trip and return of the vehicle was quick and painless. Also, pricewise, the other rental companies can't come close. My daughter rented a car to come home from school for the weekend. She went thru all the proper qualification checks, called back to find out about paying with a debit card. The agent(s) said they would take the debit card as payment and put a hold on the account for $ since she was paying with a debit card. Today, when she went to pick up the car she was not able to rent it because her license is out of state. No one asked that question either time she called to either prequalify or double check about her debit card. She has a credit card in her name, but didn't have the actual plastic. We suggested that the credit card company call to authorize the car rental, I offered to fax a copy of the credit card to the agent, but neither of those was satisfactory to Enterprise. The manager admits it was their mistake, notes on the reservation support what I wrote here, but still, there is nothing they can do. Someone should have talked about the state her drivers license was issued from when she called (for the second time) to review the procedures to rent a car with a debit card. Stopped in to rent a car. I was told that there wasn't anything available until tomorrow, even though the lot was full. I drove off and pulled into a parking lot and reserved a car online for today and received a confirmation. I went back to Enterprise and was told that "there was a lag in the system" and that there still would be nothing available until the next day. So, even if I had reserved one online before I left my house, there apparently would be no guarantee that a car would be available, even if I had received a confirmation. I called and set up a reservation because my cars in the shop, after going through everything and giving the gentlemen my name and him telling me what they would need I set up the appointment and he said the soonest they could pick me up was at 5:30. The gentleman told me that the paperwork I had ( one utility bill and a copy of my insurance card) should be sufficient for renting the car. By 545 I had still not been picked up so I called enterprise back they proceeded to tell me that I would now have to show two utility payments when I explain to them that I did not have two and that the person I had already talk to said what I had would be good enough they said well there was nothing they could do. Now I am stuck without an transportation for at least two days. I will NEVER use this company again for personal or business purposes! read more

I needed to rent a car while mine was in for an engine replacement. The associates at Enterprise in Appleton (College Ave.) were unbelievably friendly. I reserved my car online and when I went to pick it up I was in there for no longer than 5 minutes. I had to extend my rental 3 times and that only took me minutes on the phone and they were very helpful and friendly. This was my first time renting a vehicle from Enterprise and the interaction with the guys who work there was horrible. They sat on their cell phones, when not on the business phone, and were extremely rude when they finally spoke to you. I was told I had to walk 2 miles down the road, to get a copy of a bill, but to make it fast since they closed in 10 minutes - I'm 6 months pregnant. I had no other way of transportation, explaining my family lived over an hour away, they said they would give me a cab company's number. In the end, after much hassle and way too much time - I was given a car. I always give businesses at least 2 chances so I'm hoping the next time I need a rental, the experience is much better. If not, I will have to find a new company. read more

I rented a 7 passenger van for the weekend while family was visiting from out of town. The van was not ready when I arrived so they upgraded me to a 8 passenger SUV at the same price, and it was a good fair price to begin with. The staff at this location were clearly customer focused and I appreciated the excellent service. I would recommend this location for car rentals in the fox cities. read more
