Terrible service, I made a reservation to in line pick up at 12:000on Saturday. I called at 10:00 to confirm the reservation. The gentlemen said everything was good and we'll see you at 12:00. My ride was a little late, but I arrivered at 12:10 to find they close at 12:00, apparently 12:00 sharp. If he told me this on the confirmation call I would made arrangements to be there at 11:00. If they told me when they opened that would be closer to understandable- now I have no car, I had to find something else and they aren't open until Monday. I live with someone who has urgent medical conditions and I need to hope nothing happens. It is absolutely appalling that I wasn't notified sooner so I can find a solution. This branch is an absolute joke for customer service. How would you think it might not be an urgent matter at the outset? You could cost people lives and jobs with the sloppy management. This is the first time I've rented a car where I live. My car was in the shop for repairs; and up here without a car you're house bound. It's always been while on vacation. The people there Rob, Ryan, and Karina were very helpful. They answered all my questions, processed the order promptly, even though Jan. 2nd 2018 was very busy. Busier than at an airport. The day I was due back there was a blizzard. I Called and asked if I could bring it in the next morning. Rob was very understanding, considering the weather and the roads were a mess. Besides he didn't have anyone to drop me off at the repair shop. It was a Win-Win situation. The next morning I dropped off the car and was finished in less than 10 minutes. This was my first time renting from enterprise at this location. The car was in good condition,but, the customer service was down right terrible. Please allow me to elaborate. After being in a car accident, progressive assigned me a car rental on their dime. I chose this location as it is close to my home. Upon being dropped off, the JR manager realized he no longer had a car for me to use (someone at their facility, made a booking mistake). I was provided a vehicle and was given the basic run down on insurance. The manager and myself agreed upon having a supplement insurance for 3 days, at this point, the insurance would expire and I would no longer have it (this makes sense to me, my insurance was covering me). So I proceeded to drive the vehicle for 28 days until my repair was complete. Upon returning the vehicle I was handed a 700.00 bill and advised I would be charged for three days of car rental. This is NOT what was agreed upon,and, when I asked to speak to the man who provided the rental I was informed he no longer worked at the establishment. This was clearly an up-sell and deceptive, if this is the type of "moral" standard enterprise stands behind....I will never rent from enterprise again. The tropical storm earlier in August 2020 caused damage to my beautiful truck rendering me dependent on a rental. My insurance said they would cover the costs-I was elated! I spoke to Connor when securing my rental. I was explicit that I DID NOT WANT A CAR THAT SMELT LIKE SMOKE. Made the arrangement to meet at the Autobody. Having to wear a mask during the walk around and while signing paperwork, I did not detect the smoke smell. As I was leaving the shop, the car had a strong odor and figured it's because it was just cleaned. I didn't drive the rental the first few days and forgot about the odor until I had to go somewhere. The odor was beyond strong- smelt like a mixture of cigarettes and marijuana! Beyond unacceptable. Living far away from the autobody and rental, I figured a few days til my truck was ready. On the day of rental return, I was excited to get my vehicle back. Left the keys for the rental with the autobody and left in my truck. Got a call the next day explaining the charges. I was aghast! The charges were never explained beyond the cost of the daily insurance. The woman at enterprise said, NYS charges 12%tax on rentals! I was in shock at the end of the day Bill-14 days $1500! They said insurance paid the $900 and I'm responsible for the rest! I feel they bilked extra money and took advantage of this customer! Hidden fees galore and no explanation at signing! I will never use Enterprise for any of my future rentals as I felt their tactics were dishonest! I requested a car that didn't smell like smoke and they gave me an ashtray on wheels! Thank goodness I didn't get pulled over as I'm sure a police K9 would have chewed every inch of the interior! Make sure if you have to rent from this place, you find out the exact costs per day pre-signing! Take your mask off and get a good smell of the interior too! Pretty sure I would fail a drug test after using this car!! I told the woman closing out my ticket how unhappy I was and she was generous to knock off like $30! I rented a car while mine was in the shop recently, and I was so thankful for the service that Chris provided at this Enterprise location. He was kind, polite, helpful, and thorough. When the car was initially brought to the front for me, he checked it out, told me kindly that the car "was not up to his standards" and did a couple minutes of quick cleaning before handing me the keys. Complimentary disinfectant wipes were appreciated, since I have been taking care of my parents during COVID quarantine. My car ended up taking longer than expected at the repair shop, and I told Chris that dropping the rental off at the new time would be challenging for me to do with my elderly parents. He allowed me to leave the car at the repair shop so that I could have a quick pick up of my repaired vehicle, and his staff went to get it directly from there. This location understands the value of customer service, and his care really helped during a challenging time. My only comment would be that Enterprise should get snow tires for AWD vehicles in upstate NY, but I don't think that is something this location has the ability to control so I won't reflect it in the review stars. I have to give Enterprise Beacon 3 stars mostly because our car was not ready when we arrived. In fact, no cars were available and there seemed to be a back up. I was under the impression if you reserve a car online that it will be waiting when you arrive. This was unfortunately not the case. Also the facility itself leaves much to be desired. They need to hire a cleaning crew to regularly vacuum and clean the lobby and the bathroom. It's almost worse than a gas station bathroom in there. Luckily, we didn't have anywhere to be at a certain time so waiting around was OK. The customer service agent here was very nice. And people were giving him a lot of crap because their cars weren't ready either, and he handled himself very well. He also gave us some water and upgraded us to a brand new vehicle for no charge. The car had like 12 miles on it. So, you know, maybe call ahead and make sure your car will be there if its urgent? Maybe it was just crazy summer reservations? Everyone is nice though. read more

Big convenience -- not only will Enterprise pick you up from the train station, you can also drop the car off at the station when you're done. Just park it anywhere, and put the keys in the drop box at the south end of the main lot. This allowed us to drop off the car at the end of our trip and be on the train two minutes later. The price quoted in the reservation I made online was exactly the price I was charged. No tricks or surprises on my credit card statement. Sara was helpful and accommodating, especially since she seemed to be working very short-staffed on the busy Labor Day weekend, and we appreciated her attention and assistance. We would definitely rent from here again the next time we're in or near Beacon. read more

This was the worst experience I have had at an Enterprise. The bathroom is as filthy as a mechanic's, and the only T.P. was a roll on the floor. The car smells terribly with almost 35,000 miles. It is dirty inside and out. When I asked to trade the car in she said they are supposed to have more cars, but they keep calling people and they're not getting calls back. She suggested I find an Eterprise in the way and try to trade it out. I am driving from Fishkill, NY to Dover, DE. She advised the oil light is on, but not to worry the mechanics just don't like to turn it off like they're supposed to. I have visited many Enterprise locations. I wish I had time to walk out, leave the car and find another. Now I have a five-hour drive ahead, in a smoke box. read more

My husband had a severe accident, totaling our car. Samantha Manicone picked me up and drove me to her Beacon site. Samantha kindly told me she could easily transfer the bill to our insurance company when we filed a claim with Liberty Mutual. She rented me a Ford Fiesta. The car was brand new and, clearly, immaculate. It drove well. I was able to efficiently meet my husband in the Vassar Hospital Emergency Room. We returned the vehicle ten days later to the Wappinger's site so they could drive us down the road to the Subaru dealer to pick up our new car. The whole experience was reassuring, efficient, and pleasant. I highly recommend Enterprise and will continue to use them in the future. read more

The guy who works here is absolutely terrible. I don't know his name, but I think he's the only person who works there. He was dismissive, rude, and should absolutely NOT work in costumer service. He yelled at me many times, even though I never raised my voice at him, he yelled at me so rudely that I started to cry and he literally laughed in my face, and told my to try my "fake tears" on someone else. He threatened to call the police on me, even though I was just trying to talk to him. And then while I was talking he left the room and closed the door on me. To summarize up front, while other Enterprise outposts in the area (Wappingers Falls and Poughkeepsie) are helpful and courteous, the Beacon Enterprise office is, for whatever reason, staffed with incompetent and rude employees who make Enterprise look bad by not being able to honor car reservations and then not offering customers any alternatives or compensation for the hassle of having to go elsewhere to get a car. The details are below. A few days before our planned arrival in Beacon, we reserved a car from the Enterprise Beacon outpost on the Enterprise website. We called the evening before our arrival to schedule a pick up at the train station. No one called us back to confirm, so we called again on the way up to Beacon on Metro North. At that point, the Enterprise representative informed us that there was no car available for us because they had many walk-in customers that day. The fact that we had RESERVED a car in advance apparently didn't give us any priority. Nor did the representative offer us any sort of alternative. Only when we asked what we are supposed to do since we were on the train up to Beacon from New York City and were expecting to have a car available based on our reservation did she suggest staying on the train to Poughkeepsie and getting a car from the Enterprise outpost there. This would be an additional several stops on the train (which would obviously be an additional expense, not to mention a big waste of time given that we were trying to pack a lot into a few days), but she didn't offer to compensate us for that. More importantly, when we asked if we could return the car to the Beacon Enterprise office because our plan was to take the car for one day (Friday), return it to the Beacon Enterprise office before noon on Saturday (when that office closed) and then spend the rest of Saturday exploring Beacon on foot (obviously, we would not be able to do that if we had to return the car to Poughkeepsie, which would involve another big waste of time in taking a train back to Beacon), the Beacon representative said that this would entail a drop-off fee and said she couldn't waive that fee for us despite the fact that we had to do this because of the Beacon station's own mismanagement of its vehicles. She then simply hung up on us after two seconds of waiting while we were trying to figure out what to do, so that we had to call again. Upon contacting the Poughkeepsie Enterprise office, the representative there (who was helpful and courteous) told us a car was available there but also helpfully suggested calling the Wappingers Falls Enterprise office, which was closer to Beacon and would involve only one additional stop on the train. We wondered why the Beacon representative hadn't told us that. When we called the Wappingers Falls office, all the reps there were great and helpful, understanding our predicament and telling us it would be no problem to drop the car off in Beacon, and there would be no extra fee. In fact, they explained that we could even drop the car off at the Beacon train station so long as we did it before noon on Saturday, called the Beacon Enterprise office to let them know the number of the spot where it was parked and dropped the key off in the Enterprise dropbox at the station. So everything went as planned, we got our car, and we had a nice time in the area. When we dropped off the car at the station before noon on Saturday at the Beacon train station, however, and called the Beacon office again to let them know where it was parked, etc., the Beacon representative told us she didn't have time to go pick it up there until Monday. When we asked to make sure we wouldn't be charged for more than a single day, she refused to make any such promises. We then promptly called the Wappingers Falls office to explain the situation, and they immediately told us we would not be charged for more than one day since we'd returned the car to the station before noon. And that promise was kept. So, while the Wappingers Falls Enterprise office was great (and the Poughkeepsie office was courteous and helpful as well), the Beacon office really needs to look into hiring employees that understand how to offer normal customer service and not make Enterprise look bad. read more

I'll admit: I was ready to use my power of words to give this place a constructively negative review. This was my first time ever using Enterprise, in general, to rent a car; I normally use a Dollar Rent A Car location in the city, but that's usually for overnight or weekend trips. I wasn't planning on spending NYC car rental prices for a 5 day car rental (!!!). I started exploring prices outside of the city, and I discovered how MetroNorth and Enterprise have a program at multiple train stations where they'll pick you up and get you a car at a discount. SOLD. I picked Beacon because of its close proximity to I-84 / I-87 and because I did NOT want to drive over the Tappan Zee. Heh. The beau and I took a train up to Beacon; I had made a 12:30 p.m. car reservation and our train was getting to Beacon at 12:16. Upon arrival, I got a call from Andrew, saying he was there to pick me up. I was a bit confused because MetroNorth's website (in hindsight, a bit nebulous) seemingly indicated they would drop the car off to me and it's sign paperwork there. (Yeah...I know. I was confused. Guilty as charged.) Also, he could only take drivers, not passengers, to the rental office to sign paperwork and his minivan was full of other renters. I need to give context here: This was August 13th, 2016, and it was 95°F by the time we reached Beacon. My boyfriend is handicapped, and leaving him to sit in 95°F heat was the LAST thing I wanted to do...but I realized I had no choice. I got in the car, a little pissed off and trying not to cry, legit expecting to receive my "Worst Girlfriend of the Year" Award later that day. Once I arrived, I felt more empathy; they close at 1 on Saturdays and they appeared to be short staffed; it was just Andrew and John, the manager. They were really pounding everyone out as quickly and efficiently as possible, despite the group of 8 or so renters / rental returners in there. I think Andrew even had to make a round trip back to the train station to get more renters! They both were calm, cool, and collected. By the time they processed me, John brought me out, gave me a free upgrade from a compact to a mid-size, and vacuumed and hosed the at off for me before he sent me off. He even offered to get my boyfriend a beer and a Gatorade when I returned the car! Ha! Upon returning my car, I dealt with Andrew again, who could not have been more wonderful. He even offered us a ride back to the Beacon MetroNorth station without us asking! My bill total was given to me quickly and my charges were easy to understand. While driving back, he did confirm that they were short-staffed that Saturday; their driver has to call out last minute! You know what? Stuff happens. In the service industry, the customers may take it as a slight or as the norm, but when you look at the big picture, sometimes businesses are trying so do the best they can under suddenly trying circumstances. So kudos to John and Andrew for doing a wonderful and professional job that Saturday. Seriously. It was top notch customer service. If I ever need a longer term car rental outside of NYC, I would come back to this location without hesitation! read more

This enterprise will bait and switch you. We were quoted a rental rate of $88, and took the train from the city. After arriving the rate was suddenly $250. A confirmed reservation meant nothing, we were told if we wanted a car we had to pay the larger rate. A complaint to enterprise corporate was ignored. read more

Had a regular car rental experience w/ Enterprise at Beacon in June. Fortunately, I didn't run into the same problems as the one-star reviews. Hopefully those experiences are the exception. Quotes over the phone were the same (I would expected it to be a fixed price), and the person who took my call was friendly and professional. I loved that they will pick you up and drop you off at the Beacon train station if you're coming from the city. The young employees who did the pick up and drop off were very nice. I was charged a ridiculous fee for being under 21 (I was 20, about to turn 21 in a few weeks), but I can't complain because it's like that everywhere. The only thing I did not like was that they obviously tried to rip you off for their extra insurance. The guy helping me first offered it for something like $30 (don't remember the prices exactly). When I refused, he dropped the price. When I refused again, he dropped the price even more to something like $10. I ended up refusing the extra insurance all 3 times, but I still didn't like how they did that. Be careful of this if you rent at enterprise. The car rental experience itself was average, but the fact that they pick up/drop off pushes them up to 4 stars. read more

We reserved a mid-sized car since there were five adults each with a week's worth of luggage that needed to fit into it. What we got was a compact hatchback. Enterprise adjusted our rate (only a few dollars difference per day), but that didn't help all of us being packed into that car like sardines. I was informed that they are closed and I would have to either drop it off at another location(of course with fees involved) or keep the car to Monday.
