I like the car, it runs smoothly and was relatively easy to rent. The only reason I didn't give five stars is that they don't take tap to pay, so I had to go in twice because the first time, my debit card was old and only worked as a tap to pay, so I had to go to my bank and get a new card printed out so that it would be able to be swiped. Other than that, everything was fine. I would recommend this business overall. read more

Be aware - your reservation is subject to be canceled last minute due to Adan having a power trip. That's really unfortunate, especially as someone who frequents enterprise for car rentals. Now my trip is forced to be altered due to my reservation being cancelled by Adan as I'm heading over to pick up the car. His coworker/manager Alaina Scott was very passive aggressive and dismissive when I asked to be accommodated when being told my car class I reserved was not available. Alaina told me no, reschedule for another day. I'm like ? I reserved for today because I need a car today. Rescheduling isn't an optimal resolution. She continued to speak over me and be very rude, I asked to be transferred to someone else. I then spoke to Adan who said he would honor my original rate with whatever car is available when I arrive. We agreed and got off the phone. 15 minutes later he calls me back and said you and my coworker(Alaina Scott) exchanged words so "you can take your business elsewhere" Woah there! For asking if she was having a good day ? I hope the call was recorded , it has been escalated to corporate. Thanks Adan and Alaina Scott for the inconvenience due to your personal feelings. Quality/Quantity - Good clean rental for my daughter. This is a VERY busy location. But for the most part, easy in and out (but not as easy as their LV location that I frequent). Atmosphere - Small location, but big enough. They probably have another lot nearby...? As this is a very busy location. Open 7 days a week. 8am or 9am to 1pm or 6pm. See Yelp, their website, or my picture. But after business hours, they have a key drop off. Service - Good. After a short wait, easy check in and out. I watched as the team was washing and cleaning all the cars that were being returned. Price - Daughter paid, so no idea. I reserved a car from Enterprise which was connected to me from Expedia. My husband and I needed a second car so he could go to a meeting an hour away, while I brought our kids to two different events. I made the reservation so I could pick up the car an hour later, and we timed everything carefully to meet everyone's needs. We arrived at the office at 11:00, which was the pick up time. There was a long line of people so we waited about 15 minutes. There were also people sitting on chairs around the room. When we got to the desk, we were told that they did not have a car for us, so we would need to wait with the other people until one was available. The receptionist said that all the "same day reservations" were made incorrectly or mistakenly, and they didn't have cars available. We asked if there would be a car ready in the next 30 minutes and she said probably not. If I made the reservation online and it was confirmed, this shouldn't have happened! When I was searching at home online, if there was not availability, I would have kept searching. This was most unprofessional and very disappointing and stressful. It also would have been nice if we were told there was no car for us BEFORE we waited in line for 15 minutes. My wife and I use this location on several times in the past. Today we're renting a van to haul some large water barrels. They were very quick and efficient in arranging for a vehicle for us to move these barrels around. In the past, we've also used it for transportation, cars, and visitors. I've had 2 recent rentals in Berkeley...a 2 week rental in Sept from the Shattuck lot & presently starting 10/07/24 from the San Pablo lot. Both seem to have the same problem.... poorly cleaned windshields. I returned the car to the Shattuck lot to address the interior filmy windshield which glared so much when driving into the sun my vision was obscured... a real safety issue. It was not done correctly. The film remained. I called to let them know & just did myself. I using a spray mix of 50% alcohol 50%water & 1 TBSP white vinegar on both cars The 2nd rental was a disaster I requested a Chevy Spark (the same great car...minus the window issue) that I luckily received at the Shattuck lot. This time hoping it to be ready at 11am, a Mitsubishi Mirage arrived instead @ 11:30 minus 3 of 4 hubcaps missing with the single door key missing the open & closed symbols which made the locking & unlocking pretty funky. Then just to be able to designate it a genuine "beater", I discovered a day later that the cigarette lighter was dead after I found my plug in devices wouldn't work....no power. To top it off, it was one of the most unpleasant cars I'd ever driven...under powered & terrible handling On the plus side the staff was really friendly and tried to do the best they could for me & replaced the "beater" with a newer Mirage ...5000+ miles. Most of the economy cars are Mirages..too bad ...still trying to swap into a Spark! great staff...keeping my arthritic fingers crossed! 10/12/24. The staff here were excellent: very helpful and professional, and I was happy with the car -- so this is not about them. However, no one told me that there was an automatic toll pass transponder (I have my own transponder from Fastrak, which I brought with me and used, though it seems to have been overridden by the Enterprise transponder). Enterprise charged my account $8 for the toll and then added a service charge of $4.50. Granted it's not a huge amount, but I am angry at the lack of transparency and feel blindsided by the charge. read more

A lot of folks here are from out of town since they are either UC Berkeley students or parents.. This place is SEVERELY understaffed. The line was incredibly long when I first got here to rent, and there was only one person at the counter. I did get a car eventually, and the car was pretty clean. I was thankful to get a car in the end but a little worn from the 30-minute wait to get into one. It took over an hour for me to return the car. I had an insurance claim and called first to confirm that they could drive me back in time to get to my class and waited on hold for 20 minutes before they could speak with me. When I arrived, there was one no one in the car return section, so after a couple minutes, I went inside and waited in line for another 15 minutes. The actual return took about 1 minute to complete, but then the person I spoke to about the ride back was nowhere to be found, and my reservation to go home wasn't recorded anywhere. I had to wait for the driver to come back from another ride and *barely* made it back in time to teach my class. If I had another choice, I would not rent from this location again. I get that you are understaffed, but be honest about how long things will take. Communication goes a long way. The brightest moment in this experience was the person who picked me up and drove me back. She is a great conversationalist and knows a lot about the area. read more

I was contacted earlier in the week and reserved a Chevy Malibu or equivalent. They had no cars available when I arrived today, so I had to wait 35 minutesthen was Because they didn't have cars in the class that I had reserved, I was given a compact car with 57,000 miles on it that sounds like a motorcycle. I was not provided the courtesy to take an equivalent, compact SUV, which they had a couple on their lot. Enterprise should have sold this car 15,000 miles ago. In the past, enterprise used to provide an elevated experience in comparison to other rental companies. That is certainly no longer the case. read more

Avoid renting a car here. They rent cars without full gas tanks and that puts customers in the position of trying to guess how much to fuel up before returning. They've done this to me and my girlfriend several times and before, we just bit the bullet and put more gas than necessary so we wouldn't have to pay the inflated prices they charge for gas. They're not the only car rental business that does this, and I don't know what the answer is but from now on, I'm either insisting on a car that is full or that they tell me in writing exactly how many gallons of gas are in the car before I leave the lot. I'll never do business again with this establishment. read more

Front desk is friendly, cleaning team is dangerously negligent. The gentleman over the phone helped me with an appointment when the best selection of cars would be available. The cleanliness of the car was noticeably lacking; there were ants crawling all over the car everyday for over a week, non stop... (I did not leave food in it); there is white and green mold on the passenger seat belt which nobody likes to strap to themselves, and there was a funky smell of mildew everyday when you enter the car which you eventually get used to, although unpleasant. I just didn't have enough time to wait for extra cleaning, though it's expected I won't be sitting in the same mess a prior customer left when I'm renting a car. read more

Do not come here if you need a specific vehicle type. I reserved a seven-passenger vehicle (for a much higher rate) because I needed to haul my extended family around. Nevertheless, when I checked in, the manager (Bertha Ramirez) did not tell me that my reserved vehicle type (and, in fact, any seven passenger vehicle) was unavailable. Instead, she had me sit for 20 minutes waiting to be taken out to the lot, and I did not learn that there were no seven-passenger vehicles available until I overheard her tell other customers that their reserved type (minivan) was unavailable, and suggested they walk around the lot and choose something else (which she never suggested to me). Most troublingly, Bertha blamed the situation on me, and said that I made the reservation too late, even though I had made the reservation two days prior (including one business day). Even if I needed to make my reservation weeks in advance (which, of course, is not stated anywhere and is otherwise unreasonable), the very least she could have done is give me a call the morning of my reservation to let me know and save me the trip down to the branch. Unfortunately, it is woefully apparent that Bertha simply does not care about whether customers get what they reserve or that they are taken care of in a timely manner. I saw complaints about her in other reviews and tried to give her the benefit of the doubt--I suggest you save yourself the trouble and not make the same mistake I did. Kenny was the first person I spoke to when I arrived to check-in and Curtis helped us select the car and did a walk through. He pointed out all the scratches and damages including window chips so that we would not be charged for anything. We did miss one thing (not Curtis fault), the sun roof button was broken off I went back and Kenny took care of it by making a note. Both men were extremely friendly, professional, and had wonderful customer service. People like them give me hope that good service is still around; especially for businesses like these that are often so transactional, that workers often don't care about service. I was very skeptical of using this location for my rental service based on the previous reviews. My insurance company choose Enterprise as my car rental service after being involved in a car accident. I was able to get a priority pass and that made the booking process quick and easy. They picked me up from the auto body shop and took me to their location in Berkeley. Upon arriving the gentleman at the front desk was very friendly and was efficient with getting me checked in. I was able to find a nice Mazda that was covered under my policy. There was a $200 deposit I had to pay. The car was clean and they provided extra sanitizing wipes. They filled my tank up before I drove off the lot. Overall I had a good initial visit with this location. Everyone was helpful, friendly, and efficient. read more

The people who work at this office are so nice!! My car has been making a moaning noise at freeway speeds for a while now so I haven't been doing much freeway driving. Friday is Kevin's birthday so I decided to rent a car to drive out to Walnut Creek to meet them for lunch. I stopped by the office Tuesday and made arrangements to rent a small SUV, to be picked up at 11:30. This afternoon Tammy called to tell me that Kevin has a mandatory work meeting Friday at 1:00. We had to cancel the lunch. I called the Enterprise office about 15 minutes before they closed and was able to cancel the reservation for the rental car. I'm getting my car serviced Monday. We won't be able to reschedule Kevin's lunch for another two or three weeks for logistical reasons. By then my car will be freeway-worthy. My minivan had an accident so I booked a minivan rental. But the minivan was not ready on the booking day. I got an small SUV instead (I need a minivan for the next day so it's ok) The minivan was not ready when I visited again the next day. So they gave me a big SUV for the same price, it was too big to drive. When I came back two days later, I was able to receive a minivan. Standing in an immovable line with no one at the desk. Terrible terrible all around. Absolutely nobody interested in helping customers and a lot of confusion and delays. I do not recommend this place at all. Adding to say that the car I was eventually given, after a wait of about 45 minutes +, had the check engine light on and made a weird clunking sound 10 minutes after I drove away from the lot. I managed to fix it by opening the bonnet and closing it properly. This shows that very little effort went into checking the car, if such a basic thing was missed. read more

This is the absolute worst car rental location my partner and I have been to. Every single time that we have had a rental through this location there has been something either wrong with the car or wrong with the charging process. We have had a car given to us with a flat tire that was clearly known to the company before hand since they are supposed to do a walk around check of the vehicle before sending you off and they even get in the car, turn it on, and are supposed to check that there are no lights on or problems before hand. We had to return it to a different location all the way in Southern California where we were staying. We had to buy an air pump just so that we could keep driving. We have had other cars give a maintenance warning and when we called about it they said the car needs to be "reset by the manufacture"? Also, they will hassle you for the optional protection plans that are OPTIONAL and that is something that is clearly stated on their website. We wanted to use our UC Berkeley discount for our reservation for this latest reservation and we were over charged $160 dollars because of a young driver fee because they claimed their Berkeley system was down so we had to get that taken off. They claimed that they are "allowing us" to have that fee waived. HAHA No. We deserve that to be taken off because your crappy system didn't let you take off this charge since it was down and we were not told by anyone upon picking up this vehicle that we were not allowed to use points in combination with a discount. We were given the keys and told "You're all good," so this is completely on YOU as a company and branch. Since we are using this discount we are facing yet another problem from this branch. Now we are having a problem just trying to extend our car rental because appearantly you cannot use a discount code along with your enterprise plus points. Where on the website and your terms and conditions does this state it and why were we told this over the phone? Why are we able to go through the ENTIRE process online and book everything just fine? Oh that's right because the employees here say "Oh it's not supposed to do that." Give me a damn break what a crappy excuse of a supposed company policy. Now our only way to even extend the car rental is to take this current car we have all the way back to Berkeley (when we drove all the way to Southern California already) and tell them in person to close it and then rebook it with our discount, or we have to close it at a different branch down here and book another rental. When you pair the constant problems we have been having to the consistent rude employees who work here now, it makes me never want to rent through this company ever again, which I won't. If you want to book through this branch be ready either to have problems with your car (unless it's a higher tier) or to be overcharged some way some how. He offered the Nissan Sentra (boo- my high school car) and asked if that was okay which is basically an open door to me trying to get something free lol so I started egging him on- whispering "Yelp - 5 star review come on upgrade and then he offered the Jeep Cherokee which I enjoy BUT didn't wanna wait for them to clean. Louis said if I patientLy waited for them to wash the new charger - I could take that. He said it was nice I cheered, cried, ran around the parking lot, did jumping jacks, thanked the Holy Trinity and skipped m happy black a$$ inside to chow on my lunch box meal and dream big. First off, I have been an Enterprise customer for 20+ years, and as a company, they are the best. This is why I am giving this location a 3 and not a 1 star. I use other locations most of the time, but I was dismayed that on the day of rental, before a family trip they called to say they did not have a (infinity or like) reserved car available on the day scheduled to pick it up. This was a week rental, and there was no effort in helping me, beyond saying I am welcome to stop by and take a look to see if anything is available. Very disappointing. read more
