Called this location about 10:30am while staying at Berkeley Marina hotel. I made the mistake of not renting at airport and now needed a car for a day at the most. Anthony answered and let me know he had a car for me, he'd have someone pick me up at 11:30am at the hotel, and he'd give me a 10% discount for hotel I was staying at! Pick up driver showed up right at 11:30 as stated, took me and my wife to the office. We got right in, and I have to say this was the FRIENDLIEST staff I've ever encountered when renting a car. Anthony got me right up to the counter, told me the car was ready. I politely asked about anything he could for me, I was renting the car barely over a day (he'd quoted me two days on the phone) and he said don't worry about it he'll push the take out time a bit, just make sure I'm not late! Jordan showed me right out to the car, walked thru it with me and made sure there were no issues and sent me on my way. The return was equally smooth, with Jordan getting me right up to the counter, checking me in, and getting me transportation up to the BART station to get to airport. My wife mentioned while she was in the lobby, he made sure to say "Thanks Mrs. ---, hope you have a great day!" Nick Capiti was incredibly unhelpful. I have a reservation from GEICO and he wouldn't pick me up, saying I need to call the Richmond location even though the Berkeley location is closer and it is the Berkeley location that GEICO reserved the car from. I explained to him that the Richmond location doesn't have any cars available. He was unsympathetic, did not offer to call the Richmond location on my behalf, and would not pick me up from the auto body shop. I am trying to call the Richmond location on my own and nobody has picked up for the last 15 minutes. TERRIBLE HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Nick left me stranded. Meanwhile I am on hold listening to an Enterprise on-hold message espousing how important customer service is to them and how important it is to have a family run business in a corporate world. Well, if you want to call Enterprise a "family business", it is only fair to call it a dysfunctional one. read more

Was given the use of an Enterprise car from my auto repair shop. Maddie from Enterprise picked me up at the dealership and drove me to the rental location. The staff was incredible - all very nice, courteous and smiley!! The car was clean and in excellent condition. Thank you for a wonderful experience. read more

We came in to get a rental car due to the Takata Airbag recall. Fantastic service, our rep did an amazing job explaining all of our options and we're really happy with the car they set us up with. I appreciated the confirmation call for my appointment and everyone was very friendly and helpful for every step of the process. For something like a recall I was expecting more friction in my experience and was very pleasantly surprised with how easy everything was. I highly recommend this location and will definitely be going back to them for my future rental car needs. However I just wanted to give a quick warning that while I was pulling out of the lot (in my Honda with the defective airbag, which if you don't know has killed people when it deploys) I backed into a retaining wall which is impossible to see from any normal car's rear window. I noticed the retaining wall had some orange warning markers on one side to make it visible, but the marker on the side I backed into had been removed and so wasn't visible from my rear window as I was backing up. Luckily I was going extremely slowly since I was already paranoid about getting into a fender bender and the airbag possibly going off. I gave Enterprise a call to let them know that that side is missing the orange warning post and their reply was that customers aren't allowed to park in the lot. I told them that an employee had instructed me to park there and perhaps they should make sure their employees are especially aware not to let customers park in the lot since they'll probably see a lot of Takata Airbag recall customers since the Honda is a block away. The employee I spoke with was polite and thanked me but I still wanted to make sure anybody else going to that lot is aware, especially if you're going there due to the airbag recall. One of the women who was killed due to this airbag issue was in a very minor fender bender, so I'd hate to hear that someone who was doing everything right and getting a rental car was injured on the rental car lot due to something as silly as a hidden retaining wall! read more

I had some repair work done on my car at a shop in Berkeley. This was July, 2015. It took two days to complete. The shop owner took me to this location to rent a car that he would pay for until my car was ready. This location charged my credit card for the rental. I disputed the charge with my card company. Someone from Enterprise in Kentucky wrote my credit card company with false and inaccurate billing information. Because of the delays in getting this resolved with Enterprise, the repair shop wrote Enterprise a check for payment of the rental. Enterprise picked up the check. Enterprise said, it would take a couple of days to process the payment. They would then remove the charge on my card. That was two weeks ago, the charge is still on my card. Two payments on one rental. What a rip-off! read more

Had a rental car from these guys in early July. The first day of the rental the passenger side window was smashed in and my bag taken. I had to leave $500 with Enterprise and they promised to file a claim with my insurance (I have no deductible coverage for broken glass). Almost three months later, and I just called Enterprise for the third time to find out why I haven't seen a check in the mail from them yet, to which they responded (again) that they haven't even submitted a claim to my insurance yet. This is not just the fault of their central offices, it's also the fault of this branch, because the representative who took care of my rental there wrongly indicated on the paperwork that I had bought an insurance policy with them, implying that I never paid the $500. I've spent 2 hours on the phone with them so far and every time they admit their fault and say they will "escalate" the case, but nothing ever happens. After having been a customer with them for many years, I will think twice before renting a car at Enterprise again. read more

Reading all the other reviews I'm not quite sure if I went to the right place. My stepdad rented a car there and liked it and then I saw the great reviews and thought I'd found a good place. For the first time Yelp did not hold its promise...I called a week ahead with the request for a hybrid SUV (special request by my visiting boss...). Was told to call back a day before, which I did, and they said it would almost definitely work out. When we got there we were told the Prius was ready. That was not what we'd ordered. We needed the SUV to haul things and the hybrid would have been a nice touch since we work in the environmental industry. But for the first couple of days it was ok, and were told we could get an SUV, perhaps a hybrid even, on Saturday. So my boss goes by to pick up the new car, and it's a ... sedan! To add insult to injury they make him drive all the way to the Oakland branch to pick up the SUV we had been promised (and made clear we needed). Now he might be a bit picky but he told me the thing was trashed (inside and out). It hadn't even been cleaned from the last rental. So he made them clean it and begrudgingly drove off in a crap Dodge SUV. There were so many screw-ups in the dealings with Enterprise that I don't know how to count them. At least we got one day free on the rental. But seriously, is it that hard for a car rental to remember the size of the car that's been ordered? Not happy with the place... read more
