ONE STAR -- TWO FAILURES ON THE SAME CONFIRMED LARGE-SUV RESERVATION My experience with the Enterprise location at 6826 Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda was extraordinarily frustrating and has seriously damaged my trust in this company. Early in the week, I reserved a large premium SUV for pickup on Thursday. Enterprise's computer system accepted my reservation and issued a confirmation number. Approximately 30 minutes before pickup--when I was already on my way--the manager called to say that Enterprise had made a mistake and did not have the vehicle. The staff offered several explanations involving the computer system and vehicle availability. However, customers should not have to absorb the consequences of Enterprise's internal errors. A confirmation should mean that a vehicle has actually been reserved. Customers organize important travel and transportation plans around that promise. Calling only 30 minutes before pickup is unacceptable, especially when the reservation is for an expensive large SUV that may be difficult to replace at the last minute. Later that afternoon, Enterprise emailed me that a large SUV would be available on Friday. I completed the online check-in and provided my driver's-license and credit-card information. I was told that I could pick it up by 6:00 p.m. Friday. Unfortunately, I could not arrive before the branch closed, so I went to the location at approximately 10:00 a.m. Saturday. When I arrived Saturday morning, I was told that the vehicle was no longer available. This was now the second failure involving the same reservation. Enterprise had failed to provide my confirmed vehicle on Thursday, promised another vehicle for Friday, had me complete the check-in process, and then once again had no large SUV for me. I acknowledge that I arrived after the stated Friday pickup time. However, because Enterprise had already caused the original disruption, good customer service would have required someone to communicate clearly that the replacement vehicle would be released immediately if I did not arrive by 6:00 p.m. A telephone call, text message, or email could have prevented a second wasted trip. No one contacted me. This was not a minor issue involving a preferred color or optional feature. I specifically reserved a large SUV, was prepared to pay a premium price, received a confirmation, and organized my schedule around that reservation. A rental company's most basic responsibility is to manage its inventory accurately and communicate promptly when it cannot honor a commitment. One failure might be an unfortunate mistake. Two failures involving the same reservation demonstrate a serious breakdown in inventory management, communication, and customer service. At this location, a reservation confirmation apparently provides no meaningful assurance that the promised vehicle will actually be available. Management at this Bethesda branch needs to review its reservation practices immediately. The system should not confirm vehicles that the branch cannot supply. When a confirmed vehicle becomes unavailable, Enterprise should provide timely notice and meaningful assistance locating an equivalent vehicle at another branch. A replacement vehicle promised after an initial failure should also be carefully tracked, with clear communication before it is released. I am posting this detailed review because other customers deserve to understand the risk before relying on a reservation from this location--especially families and travelers who genuinely need a large SUV and cannot simply accept a smaller substitute. In my case, a confirmation number, completed online check-in, driver's-license information, and credit-card information still did not result in an available vehicle. Enterprise should investigate why this reservation failed twice and explain what corrective action will be taken. Until its reservation and communication practices improve, I cannot recommend relying on the Enterprise branch at 6826 Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda for an important or time-sensitive rental. read more

I have switched to this Enterprise. I used to rent with a rival (I try to be positive here, and I won't name it). That company had a neighborhood location which closed. Their airport locations have deteriorated, and despite being one of the major competitors in this business they lost their lease on site at DCA. Looking at reviews, Enterprise is consistently, with its sister National, ranked at the top for customer service. My sense is this is a sector that has not the best reputation, all around. But with all that, I wish to report I am glad I plan to use Enterprise going forward. I had an excellent experience. Their customer service is just different. I'm not naive. These are commercial transactions; this isn't about finding a friend. I just want ease of use on the website, pick up, drop off. And for the prices to be good. Enterprise "checks the boxes." I did comparison shopping: they are the same as other options. There is one issue. Once you know, it's fine. The storefront is on Wisconsin Avenue. The parking garage is in back. That means you need to know how to approach it, and GPS won't navigate to the right place (the storefront, not the parking garage). Inside, they have multiple areas with reserved spaces. They do not have an attendant. You park, then bring your keys. I'd say allot an extra ten minutes for that process. PS This is a post I have moved to the proper account. For some reason, including user error, Yelp signed me in and automatically created an account on a different computer (not my regular one), using my Google address (also not my regular one). What a total screw up. I had a car that had an issue and I exchanged it. Rather than keeping my contract where I was supposed to return the car on Wednesday, they changed it to Monday. This is a total inconvenience and I don't trust any of their cars. My company did the rental with Enterprise. I personally would not recommend. Now I have to get this straightened out. I called customer service and they said it was closed. Really frustrating and unhappy. read more

Everyone I interacted with at the 6826 Wisconsin Avenue location in downtown Bethesda/Chevy Chase was very professional and polite. They were able to accommodate my request for a large SUV rental and conveniently dropped it off for me at the AutoBody shop while my own SUV was getting work done. They also picked up the rental at the AutoBody shop after I got my car back so I didn't have to return it to their location myself. All paperwork, communication, and status updates were conducted over the phone and through voice mail and text messages, which was very convenient. This location also answers the phone in a timely manner when you call them. Other locations I've used in the past have been more difficult to communicate with. Overall, I'm very pleased with the vehicle rental and the customer service they provided and highly recommend them. Great job everyone! read more

After a month they are directly collecting traffick citations without providing me with the tickets... I had to cancel the card and intend to sue them. From pick up to drop off this Enterprise was stellar. One of the best car renting experiences I have had. Since pick up services had been suspended due to Covid. I was given $10 towards my rental for taking an Uber. And when I was a little late dropping off my rental due to traffic, they were completely understanding and didn't charge me. Scheduled to rent a sedan from this location and upon arrival they informed me that had no other vehicles other than a pick-up truck. The truck was in such disrepair! The agent neglected to mark damages, although I pointed all of them out, including a cracked bumper. When trading the vehicle out at another location, 2 hours later, the original agent claimed the damages on the vehicle were not preexisting although it was clear from rusting that they were. I had to personally contact the agent for him to admit that the damages were there at time of pick up. I was always please with this location as I have always used it when needing a car rental when my car was being serviced at Ourisman Volkswagen-now I am totally floored and in shock, not happy with this location. I returned a rental this afternoon that I got on Monday. The employee at the location was in the parking lot where cars are parked-she simply asked if I was returning my car (told her "yes"), she took my keys noting that is all I need to do (asked her even if I got anything or needed to do anything else) -she didn't even inspect the vehicle. Now here it is almost 3 hours later and the car is not marked as "returned." I tried calling them about it before closing, but was hung up on twice. Customer Service made note of it, reaching out the Regional Team/location to send me notification of the car agreement being closed, (PROBABLY TOMMORROW), noting that this happens sometimes, "they forget" to close out an agreement until the next day..... not cool at all. Mark my words, I will never rent from here again though convenient-no one should fear a car not being noted for being returned until the next day? I am worried and concerned about this practice as it makes a wonderful location I have loved for years really really suspiciously bad-STAY AWAY!!! Horrible service and too expensive. Don't use Enterprise. First, the horrible service. I called and was put on hold forever. So I walked to the location. Then I waited 20 minutes because the location didn't have enough staff. That's poor management. Second, the price for a compact was $174 for one day. Then the clerk demanded a $100 deposit. I've been an Enterprise customer for decades with no problems, yet this would be a first-ever deposit. Enterprise needs to be friendly and not over-charge customers ! Corporate failure. Our vehicle was hit while parked in late May, and Geico sent us to this Enterprise location to get a rental car while ours was being repaired. We went to pick up the rental car, and as part of the standard pre-rental procedure, we did a walk around the car to inspect it for damages. Upon noticing damage on one of the car doors, we pointed it out to the Enterprise agent. He told us that the damage was not significant enough to warrant noting in the report. At the end of the damage inspection, the agent asked us if we agreed to the state of the car. We noticed that the damage on the car door had STILL not been noted in the report, so we told the agent we really would be more comfortable if it were noted on the report. He assured us that it WOULD BE NOTED. When we came in a week later to return the rental car, having driven it once to the grocery store during the week that we had it (we aren't exactly going anywhere in the middle of a pandemic), the agent working there informed us that there was no note of the damaged door in the previous report and that we would be held responsible for the cost of repairs. Not only was the initial agent lax in reporting the damage we asked him to note, but all later interactions we had with Enterprise, including the supervisor at this location carried a tone of "You're just trying to weasel your way out of paying for car damages." If we simply hadn't noticed the damages upon pick up, that would be one thing. But for them to act like this is some grand scheme on our part to lie about damages, after REPEATEDLY asking them to note the damage in the first place, is absurd. After having to deal with the staff at this location, we're absolutely kicking ourselves for not taking photos of the initial damage on the day of pick up, but in the middle of a global pandemic, we were trying to minimize the time spent in-person with the agents, and apparently made the classic mistake of assuming the associate we were speaking with WOULDN'T lie to our faces and then deliberately misreport damage we asked twice to be documented. We were sent to this Enterprise location by Geico. If your insurance agent sends you to the Wisconsin Avenue Enterprise location, ASK TO BE SENT SOMEWHERE ELSE FOR YOUR RENTAL CAR. read more

The worst rental car experience I HAVE EVER HAD. Beware! I have rented from here twice I rented a car from the Bethesda, MD branch on two occasions. On the first occasion they were under staffed and provided poor service. I was an hour late for work because the car was not ready at the specified time. When I rented the car the Manager Gabe Silva was overwhelmed with customers and got upset when I mentioned they should have more staff and I was going to be late for work. When I returned the car he tried to say I smoked in it which I did not and talked very disrespectful to me. He also threatened to charge me for cleaning but this time "he was going to let me off the hook" It crossed my mind to report him but I decided he may have been having a bad day due to the lack of staffing. The second time I rented a car he remembered me and had an angry tone with me. Again there was a line out the door and I was an hour and a half late for work because they did not provide the car at the specified time. The car he gave me had not been cleaned and had sand from the beach in it, a half eaten sandwich and orange peels. When I returned the car he again accused me of smoking in it and I made it clear that I had not. He said "I will decide if you smoked in it or not." He sat in the car and made me wait for about 15 minutes , When he got out of the car he again talked terrible to me and said he was going to charge me a cleaning fee and put me on a do not rent list. (which he did) He was very angry and I have never been spoken to in the rude, terrible manner that he spoke to me. When I asked for his managers information he informed me that he is in charge and has no manager. After I left I called customer service to voice my concerns and was told his manager would call me back. I waited and never received a call from his manager I then called customer service several time after that always being told his manager would call me back and that never happened. The last time I called the person I spoke with said it was in the notes that I acknowledged I smoked in the car. That is a lie! I NEVER acknowledged this. When I requested a copy of the notes she said I had to go back into that rental location and get them Why would I do that when Mr. Silva was so apparently angry both times I rented the cars and spoke to me like I was dirt. It appears that his manager did not do his job and just took his word for what happened instead of contacting me to hear what I had to say. If Mr. Silva is treating me so disrespectful I am sure he is doing it to other customers. No one from enterprise has ever contacted me regarding this. I even called corporate office and they did nothing. I plan on pursuing this matter not because of the money including loss time from my job but because of the principle of the matter. I have never been spoken to in such a disrespectful manner as Mr. Silva spoke to me. I will be taking this to small claims court. My advice is to never rent from enterprise because it's all about money for them and customer service means nothing to them. They probably will respond to this post with the generic email they respond to everyone with. We tried renting a car to travel home because we didn't want to fly during the pandemic. Once we got there, they told us that we needed to pay with a credit card because of out of state license use even though we had already paid online with a debit card. They then told us that we had to have a physical credit card present which neither of us had and basically that we were out of luck. Had to cancel the trip home and now have to reschedule the drive and get a car elsewhere. John, the manager was demeaning and didn't seem to care at all about our business. Filthy Car, Expensive Costs, Understaffed Office, Not Ideal. From the moment we walked in, the impression of an understaffed office was evident. There were only 2 people who could get me into a car and they were trying their best to help us out with the rental process. We had to wait 20 minutes before somebody could help us get a car and then 10 minutes after to get the car itself. But, we liked the flexibility of our booking from the website and the overall kind staff. The cost of the rental for a week cost me just shy of $1000 including my insurance for just one week. I understand that prices are inflated but I could have gotten a far cheaper and better experience elsewhere. Onto the car. Upon arrival, the car was FILTHY! The exterior was covered in dirt or mud (no idea what it was. Couldn't wipe it down without hosing it. It was sticky.) The staff said that they would "go touch it up" but honestly it seemed like they did a loop of the block and did not lift a finger to clean the car, as the car was still extremely filthy. The car only had 1/4 of a tank which was understandable. Though again, not ideal. Thankfully, our car was almost brand new, 2021 model year so we enjoyed the car itself. If I weren't in a rush, I would surely asked them to clean the car or give me another one. If you do decide to rent here, make sure your car is clean. Luckily, the interior of our car was generally clean, though, it seemed more like a basic cleaning and less of a COVID disinfection so I had to spend some time using disinfection wipes to clean the interior myself. Upon returning, the return process took 2 minutes and when we asked for a ride, the staff instructed us to wait and we did. 20 minutes later, we decided to take an Uber as the staff was understaffed and too busy to give us a ride. Overall, the car was good, great gas mileage even though it was filthy. The overall customer service experience was lacking efficiency due to the understaffed office. I expected more from Enterprise and I am frankly disappointed of the experience. Next time I would try some other place for sure. read more

Enterprise rep took a picture of the scratch and told me they would mark it on the rental agreement. I Just dropped off the car and received an email with a damage report for the scratch. Great experience renting a car here. Got a great rate and an upgrade when they were sold out of the vehicles in the class I had reserved on Labor Day weekend. I have rented cars from all over the DMV area and around the country but never with Enterprise and never at this location in Bethesda. The check in process is pretty quick and painless, about 10 minutes start to finish. The agents here are friendly, accommodating, and very professional. The vehicle I drove was placed in was an Audi SUV with about 12,000 miles on it. Quite possibly the cleanest rental I've ever had (aside from the half dozen vehicles I've rented that were brand new with only a few miles on them) Spotless inside and out. This matters to me as it's pretty annoying to have to clean up a rental car before a long trip. I have a few more rentals scheduled with enterprise this year and I'm hoping to see the same friendly service and great standards that this location showed me this past week. Definitely recommend renting with Enterprise at this Bethesda location. read more

Okay so maybe I'm the last person to know that you can't rent a car in the District if you're under 25? I think I missed that when I made my reservation at Avis online. So not realizing this when I showed up there at 8am Saturday morning, I was in a pickle. I had a wedding to get to that was 2 hours away (in Delaware) and I needed a car! So, I cabbed it up to Enterprise in Bethesda and had to wait til 9 before they opened. Mike told me they had nothing available short notice unless I wanted to rent a "special" car. I quickly freaked out in my head thinking, "Oh dear...what is this gonna be and how much is it going to cost?" He said they had a special on their Mercedes Benz cars - $50/a day. I'm like..."are you kidding? I'll take it!!" I handed over my license and credit card and he started the paperwork. Within another 20 min or so, I was handed the keys to a C230 and was on my way to Delaware. Since they are closed on Sundays, I had to keep the car for two days. So yes, a little more than I had planned on spending, but hey - I had an extra day to fool people in thinking that I owned this sweet sweet car. I did opt for the extra insurance in case, God forbid something happen to the car so that instead of paying what could potentially have been hundreds in repairs I paid a simple $40. This meant I could basically total the car and not have it cost me a thing! I would have paid $65 to drive the Chevy Cobalt from Avis for ONE DAY(had they let me rent from them) and instead I paid $100 to drive a Mercedes from Enterprise for 2 DAYS. Uh-freaking-MAZING! Well worth the extra $35. The team at this Enterprise is great - friendly and efficient. They definitely remembered me when I returned the car this morning and asked how the wedding went and all that. In the future if I need to rent a car, I will most likely be coming back here. --- FYI:: I highly recommend paying for the optional extra insurance. While I was waiting, there was a woman who didn't and ended up having to pay a great deal of money for the scratch/dent in the car she rented. They're sticklers about that here. read more

To be fair, two of the times I visited this location was after they'd had a run on rentals, so I only had a dozen cars to choose from... some weren't compact, and some were premium. I've been renting here for years without issues. Today, I picked up the rental. Hood damage noted by the rep and they sent an electronic agreement. I get home and it states 'no damage documented'. Called the office and they promised an update. 1 hr later can't get through and called the customer service line. They claim there is a 'note' but cannot provide email confirmation - verbal only. This is very odd and concerning from an insurance perspective. How does a major car rental company not provide email updates? Not sure if I trust this process going forward. read more

Despite not having a car that I wanted, which is not really their fault, they didn't even bother to clean the car they did have. The representative claimed that the car had been there for "a while." Funny, for when I called earlier in the day, he said all they had was a minivan. Nobody serves you, and this is case-in-point. You really have to serve yourself. Ok, they pick you up. Great. However, they were 20 minutes later then they said they would be, so I was waiting out in the cold, starting to wonder if they were ever going to show up. But once I got there I got to the front of the line and they went through their routene pretty quickly. When they brought me out to the car I was to rent though, I was taken aback - it was filthy on the outside, had weird stains on the seats and a red bull can in the cup holder. This I pointed out to the guy and he said, "weird, usually when the trunk is open that means the car's been cleaned and serviced, but maybe...." This is an economy car, mind you, and that's what I expected - but this Chevy Aveo was not much more than a glorified golf cart and seemed very janky. I get to the beltway and realize that next to the "passenger air bag off" light there's a little picture of an engine - the dreaded check engine light was on! Shit. So I'm on the beltway at this point and am headed to Philadelphia. I look for a place to pull over that might have a service station. And look, and look and look - finally I find a REALLY sketchy truck stop in Jessup and hope they can run a diagnostic and tell me all is OK. They can't. So I call the 800 number for "roadside assistance" and they are no help at all - connected me to some garage that was closed. Enterprise doesn't have roadside assistance BTW, they tell you to take it to a tire dealer that they have a relationship with. Long story short, I end up having to drive to the Baltimore airport and switch out cars. It was either that or risk this thing breaking down in the middle of nowhere. The manager of the Bethesda Enterprise called me a couple of times once he got the message that there was something wrong with the car he rented me, but there was nothing he could do at that point except promise me that the airport Enterprise "was standing by with a replacement car for me." That wasn't true, because I had to wait there for a half hour in a little shack in the parking lot until they found an equally "economy" car to give me. I'd always had good luck with enterprise in the past, but this was a really bad experience. I brought the car back today and got 50% off, which was fair. It was still a bad experience. read more

I rented a car on 08/06/22, was charged twice, received a call saying they did not properly process payment (had already received 2 notifications about both charges), upon returning car on 08/08/22, I asked if they needed anything, was told no and I was set to go. A few days later started receiving harassing calls from the Assistant Manager Justin (who I specifically stated numerous time I do not want to interact with as he is incredibly rude) threatening I can not rent any cars from anywhere in the country. Then threatened to send it to collections, all the while I was already charged twice. I have called 4x and keep getting told my concern will be escalated and have not received any help since. Up until then, I've had nothing but excellent service but I will never rent a car from Enterprise ever again and be sure to inform everyone I know of these fraudulent practices. read more

This location seems to be very responsive and helpful which is a nice change from most airport rental locations. The main drawback to this location is that they have a very limited selection of vehicles due to a small parking lot. They do make up for their limitations though with exceptional customer service as well as flexibility in order to make you happy. I was picking up a car while mine was in for maintinence and they had no issues working with my insurance to provide me with a free car for as long as i needed at a very respectable rate. I just wished i had come in on Friday, i guess it tends to be Mercedes day. Over all, this is a great place to get a car, but it might not hurt to call ahead. read more

I had more than one poor experiences the summer of 2019. I live in Maryland. The staff at the Bethesda location asks you to write great reviews! In my case, I had vehicles with issues two rentals in a row. I have been an Enterprise customer for over 20 years and do not feel it's acceptable to charge or rent cars with faulty alignment, or cars with damaged exteriors that smell like cigarette smoke. I have written enterprise by email- no response. I have spent over 20 minutes speaking to corporate- they say they have to check and get back with me and so far nothing has happened. Sure I will alter my satisfaction review if one person pays attention to a 65 year old woman who was profoundly taken advantage of by this locations business practices. Very disappointed. This review could have gone either way. When I got to the store, I was helped right away, but there were problems with both the first and then the second vehicle that they offered. It took a lot of time to sort it out. What sets them apart, however, is that they were incredibly helpful and worked hard to find a solution and I eventually was able to get on the road. I have never used a Yelp account before, but this was too much of a bad experience to not post it on here... I had never rented from Enterprise before. They were a 5 minute walk from my apartment in Bethesda, so I decided to give it a try. It was a good experience until two months later I get an invoice from Enterprise for a parking ticket that I received. Since I didn't remember ever receiving a parking ticket, I went back to this Enterprise to get more information. According to Enterprise, I had received a parking ticket exactly 30 minutes before I returned the car (when the car was in my parking garage and I was in my apartment). This is where it gets interesting. This Enterprise branch told me there's nothing they can do and referred me to Enterprise's Citations office. Their Citations office said the same thing to me and referred me to MoCo's department of transportation. When I spoke with MoCo's DOT, they told me that Enterprise had the time of the ticket COMPLETELY WRONG. The ticket was given AFTER I returned the car. So, I called Enterprise's citations office once again and told them this information with proof. Guess what? They still REFUSED to remove the charge that was put on my credit card and told me to just dispute it myself with MoCo's department of transportation. I cannot dispute a ticket when I the car was not in my possession in the first place. This ticket was given two months ago during a time period in which the car was NOT IN MY POSSESSION. Two months later, here I am still with a charge on my account. Needless to say, I will not be renting from Enterprise ever again. I had a great experience here! Everyone was kind, professional and very helpful. I had been in a car accident and my car was at a nearby body shop; they picked me up from the body shop and then gave me a ride back once my car was finished. I'd recommend this location if you need a rental - I was very happy with the whole process! read more

I feel very disappointed, I rented a car for 3 days and everything was fine, until I got my credit card record and it was a $112 extra charged on my bill. I went to the store to ask, and the Mananger gave me his card, and told me to call accounting department, I did! But The number he gave me doesn't exist. I tried to contact the Store mananger via email, and its been more than 10 days and I do not have any kind of response. If you are using Bethesda enterprise, please just be careful and double check your credit records. A similar issue happened to a friend, last month, at that same location. read more
